#2 Russian T-55 being older but perhaps being used for possible other reason. No software to be ruined from EMP blast. This tank is still operational not just a lump of metal after an EMP blast. Many serious upgrades also. Economical for other countries to acquire. I am no expert but this sounds very practical.

I notice in tell in the Daily Mail. When trying to sell something extra-dubious, they use the phrase "Putin's *something*". Putin's war. Putin's missiles. Putin's Wagner thugs. The dubious bit here is the suggestion the Russians are planning to go head-to-head against modern main battle tasks with 1950s Soviet tanks.

Think of the T-55 as an armored, self-propelled 100 mm gun. It can shield infantry as they advance behind it, or deliver indirect fire with drone spotters, or from behind a berm or in a trench with just the turret exposed, it can provide defensive cannon and machine gun fire. Useful stuff in a war.

We note the tank sighting was in Zaporizhzhia, a place where the Russians have been digging defensive fortifications in expectation of a Ukrainian offensive.
