#2 ...Back in the day, Mother MAC didn't put markings on its birds at all except for US AIR FORCE and the aircraft serial number.

And I'll let you in on a little secret: read the first of BGen Chuck Yeager's autobiographies as to why you can't always trust the serial number.

#3 I'm sure it goes on everywhere, but a few years back people would stand at the end of the runway at Ramstein, GE and jot down tail numbers. I thought about the OPSEC implications and looked into it a bit. I discovered there are on-line clubs (nothing better to do) that track USAF arrivals and departures. Here's an idea.

#6 Troubling, an I&W data point, since it suggests OPSEC against active and detailed Order of Battle collection against USAF capabilities, patterns and basing.

And I can imagine only one looming adversarial event that prompts this kind of action, and its in the South China Sea.

There was a time when the Pentagon pizza index was a genuine data point on that list, but I can't imagine that is still considered?
