#3 They're the Army Medical Corps. They go everywhere for this sort of thing. The UN often calls on them for some of the shittiest jobs, like in Sudan.

Sadly, 'soft projection' is all we're willing to do. Because we're surrounded by sasquatch republics and wannabe caliphates, we end up ultimately treating the Ummah. I don't see what strategic advantage there is in this idiot altruism; especially dragging the military into it.

#4 SFOD-A, ah yes, the MTT! wherein you get to go to remote areas and build hospitals for people who believe only and resolutely in black magic, build airborne schools for men who only want your jump wings for the ju-ju, and start commando schools for the first 50 guys they round up off the street.

In calmer, whiskey soaked moments I heard it theorized that such excursions were a reverse morale builder. Much in the way that the Foreign Legion tends to starve the men to create a state of pure meaness and aggression, the real purpose of going on MTT's was to engender an absolute disdain for the countries involved and a cheerful willingness to kill their citizens.
