Police begin probe as two personnel martyred in Kohat militant attack
2023-04-06
[Dawn] The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police have begun an investigation into the martyrdom of two Kohat coppers in Monday night bully boy attack.

Also, an official of the traffic police was martyred in a gun attack in Lower Dir district, while a bully boy was killed and two injured in a police crackdown in Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
district.

SHO of Kohat’s Mohammad Riaz Shaheed cop shoppe Islamuddin told Dawn that police personnel Ayaz and Qasim were attacked by holy warriors on the Bannu Road in Mirozai area on Monday night when they’re on the way to the Abu Bakar and Hamza mosques to perform security duty for taraveeh prayers.

He said the bullets fired by the attackers pierced the helmets and bulletproof vests worn by the coppers.

The SHO said funeral prayers for the dear departed were offered at the police lines on Tuesday.

Provincial police chief Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur formed a two-member committee to probe the bully boy attack.

A notification issued by the Central Police Office said a fact-finding committee comprising DSP (Logistics) at the CPO Sanaullah and sub-inspector Safdar Khan would look into the attack and submit its report within a week.

It added that the committee would visit the place of crime, ascertain the kind of weapons used to kill police personnel, and examine the helmets and jackets issued to the dear departed.

It will check what "security gadgets" the two police personnel received from the department for permanent and temporary use.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie sadly admitted that he was a better peeping Tom than he was a comedian...
a motorcyclist shot a traffic police constable dead in the Talash Bazaar of Lower Dir district and fled.

The police identified the dear departed as Bakht Zamin, a 35-year-old resident of Ouch Sharqi, and said he was attacked while performing duty at a busy intersection.

They said they had started the paperwork but haven't done much else and started a search for the gunman.

Local SHO Tauhid Khan told Dawn that Bakht Zamin was a victim of assassination.

The dear departed’s family claimed that it had no enmity.

Also, the Dera Ismail Khan police said it killed a bully boy group’s member and injured others in a pre-dawn operation in the Kot Essa area in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The operation was launched by the provincial police’s Albarq Unit at 3am in the jurisdiction of the Daraban cop shoppe on a tip-off about the presence of bully boy commander Mazhar Gandapur.

The police said bully boy Ansar Abbas, a resident of Kot Essa area, was killed in an exchange of fire with police, while other members of the bully boy group, including its commander Mazhar Gandapur, fled.

District police officer Rauf Qaiserani toldDawnthat Mazhar Gandapur and another bully boy were believed to be maimed by the police gunfire.

He said the sub-machine guns snatched from the police were also seized along other unlicensed arms.

Last month, a police constable was killed and two others injured by the same bully boy group in the area.

Islamabad Hands Over Two Pakistani Taliban Commanders to Afghan Taliban
2022-05-15
[KhaamaPress] According to reliable sources in Islamabad, the country has entrusted two senior Tehrik-e-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain (Pak Taliban) commanders, Moslem Khan and Mahmoud Khan, to Kabul to enable discussions.

The two senior Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain commanders surrendered to the Afghan Taliban in the prospect of being released if Pak military talks succeeded with the group, according to an informed source who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Radio Azadi.

Two prominent Pak Taliban commanders were arrested in 2009 during a Pak military operation in Swat, where they were big shots of Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's hubristic Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan. ’s group.

According to the source, a Pak military delegation is now in Kabul, discussing with Pak Taliban leaders through the Afghan Taliban’s mediation. If the Pak Taliban and the Pak military agree to a truce, Moslem Khan and Mahmoud Khan will be released, according to the source.

The Pak Taliban announced an extension of the ceasefire with Islamabad a few days ago in order to advance peace talks. The Pak Taliban agreed to a ceasefire during the Eid holidays, which has now been extended until May 16, according to Agence La Belle France Presse.

Who defeated DAESH?

How very florid — and yet it fails to persuade.
[ALEMARAHENGLISH] The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
...the formal name of the Taliban...
under the leadership of the martyred Amir ul Mumineen Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor (May Allah have mercy on him) started the fight against the Khawarij
...Khawarij is a fancy Muslim word for Splitters!!1! ...
known as ISIS after they attacked innocent Afghans and tried to impose barbarism over the communities in different parts of Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers the defense of Afghans and Afghanistan against all the enemies whether internal or external as a binding obligation and has shown the entire world that the struggle and fight of the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate is for the defense and independence of Afghanistan.

When the fitnah of ISIS ‐ launched by foreign intelligence agencies and nurtured by the local stooge regime ‐ started their activities by targeting mosques, weddings, public gatherings and other political events to discredit the Mujahideen and tarnish the image of Jihad and Mujahideen, the wisdom of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan played central role in countering these mercenaries with ideological and military mobilization. This scourge was exterminated in the southern parts of Afghanistan while those holed up in the northern parts of Afghanistan after being routed out by the forces of the Islamic Emirate were rescued in regime helicopters. Following crushing defeats around the country, the remnants of ISIS gathered in eastern provinces of Nangarhar

Pakistain Taliban chief Mullah Fazlullah, 44, was killed with five other bully boyz when missiles slammed into the car they were driving, hours before Afghanistan’s Taliban began a three-day cease fire.

Fazlullah, who was famous for his nickname "Mullah Radio" for the abundance of broadcasted violent hard boy speeches on Voice of Valley radio in Pakistain, is known for extremism and imposing of Sharia by force there.

In 2014, he ordered an attack that killed 132 students at an army-run school in Pakistain’s Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Malala was 15 years old when Fazlullah ordered her liquidation when she was on a bus and was stopped by Talibs and called by her name, then with a gun directed to her face she was hit by three bullets, shattering her forehead. She stayed in a coma for a week before being trnsfered to the UK for intense treatment and rehabilitation.

Three days following this brutal attack, 50 Moslem holy mans in Pakistain issued a fatwa (religious edict) denouncing the actions of those who ordered her killing due to her school education, while the Taliban continued to threaten her father for putting his daughter in school.

He also said that the country would have been divided if it was not for the Pakistain Army, whose soldiers are like Mujahideen (holy warriors).

High Court accepted Sufi Mohammad's bail plea and after his lawyer pleaded for his release as he had served a long time in prison despite his old age and deteriorating health condition.

This was his first interview to the media after his release.

Sufi Mohammad is the father-in-law of Mullah Fazlullah, the runaway head of the banned TTP who has waged war against Pakistain and is the country's most-wanted terrorist.

Further criticizing the activities of the TTP, Sufi Mohammad said that it is strictly prohibited in Islam to kill women and kiddies, and that those responsible for the massacre of children at the Army Public School in Peshawar were worse than infidels.

He also regretted the 2012 terrorist attack on Pak Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai, saying she was a child and should not have been attacked, and added that he is not opposed to education of children. The TSNM chief also added that he had raised awareness in writing regarding permission for children's education.

district including one in 2009 and another in 1995. He has been accused of committing sedition, waging war against Pakistain, and several other offences, and has previously termed the government, the Constitution of Pakistain, and the judicial system un-Islamic.

In the first case, the TNSM chief was charged under Sections 120-B (hatching criminal conspiracy), 121-A (waging war against Pakistain), 124-A (sedition), 148 and 149 (rioting) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistain Penal Code.

The other case was registered at Swat's Kabal Police Station in June 1995 when Maulana Sufi Muhammad and his supporters tried to impose 'Shariah' in Malakand division with force. He was charged under Sections 121 and 121-A (war against Pakistain), 324 (attempted murder), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 353 (obstructing public servant) of the IPC.

Previously, the holy man was incarcerated

when he was returning from Afghanistan where he had gone along with thousands of his supporters to wage war against US forces.

He was released in April 2008 when the ANP-led provincial government entered into a peace deal with the TNSM in which the latter disassociated itself from attacks on security forces and government installations and promised to help it in restoring the writ of the state there.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
Sufi Mohammad was arrested again after failure of the peace deal and the launching of the military operation in Malakand division. The government also restored the old cases against him and his followers.

His lawyer, Fida Gul, says that apart from the two cases, his counsel has already been acquitted or granted bail in 11 cases previously filed against him.

The final battle?
2015-08-22
[DAWN] THE so-called final phase of Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
is under way in North Wazoo, 14 months after the operation began.

Thus far it appears the military has reclaimed much of the terrain that it had set out to do and it is certainly the case that the rate and intensity of terrorist attacks inside the country have gone down since the operation began.

But, as ever, in the long war against militancy, immediate successes can be undone if the next steps are not prosecuted with equal vigour and intensity.

To begin with, the fight in the Shawal region is expected to be very tough, according to the military and what the turbans themselves have suggested. It is not so much a last stand by the turbans as the fact that the region is difficult for armies to operate in, the dense foliage and mountainous terrain putting small groups of turbans at an advantage, at least when it comes to evading the full force of the military power that is to be used against them.

This challenge ahead is indeed cause for sombre reflection even as the country remembers those who have already fallen in the war against militancy.

The battle will also be complicated by the Afghan question. Earlier, too many turbans escaped into Afghanistan and while the military has repeatedly claimed that this is less likely to occur in the current fight, only the days and weeks ahead will confirm whether that is in fact true.

Unhappily, Pak-Afghan relations have taken a downward turn yet again in recent weeks and it remains to be seen how much cooperation is extended by the Afghan side to interdict or help capture North Waziristan-based turbans who flee into Afghanistan.

As the sorry tale of Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
has underscored, unless the Taliban leadership is captured or eliminated and unless cross-border holy warrior movements are curbed the relative peace inside Pakistain since Zarb-e-Azb began may not last long.

It always has been and very much remains so in the interest of both Afghanistan and Pakistain to cooperate in the fight against militancy -- even if the two states sometimes behave as if that were not the case.

Finally, there is the question of the Haqqani Network and US demands. While the military has claimed not to have made any distinction in the fight against turbans in North Waziristan, it also appears to be the case that the Haqqanis have been encouraged to play a more direct role in the Afghan Taliban leadership structure.

Furthermore, while the timing of the announcement of the Shawal operation may have nothing to do with the US government's resolve to withhold Coalition Support Funds, there remains far too much that is unknown about how the military makes decisions vital to securing the country. More transparency in policy and especially the results of goals is needed.
