Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee says she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
2024-06-03
[FoxNews] Jackson Lee previously battled breast cancer in 2011

U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, announced Sunday night that she is being treated for pancreatic cancer, but assured her constituents that she will soon be back at full strength.

Jackson Lee, 74, has been representing Texas' 18th congressional district for 30 years.

The congresswoman said she will "likely be occasionally absent from Congress" as she undergoes treatment, but emphasized that her office will continue to deliver the constituent services they "deserve and expect."

Jackson Lee previously battled breast cancer, having been diagnosed in 2011 before announcing the following year she was cancer free.

The Democrat served as a judge before she was elected to an at-large Houston City Council seat in 1989.

"Please keep me and my family in your prayers as you have always done. Know that you will remain in mine," she concluded. "As always, God bless you and God bless the United States of America."

Billionaire investor pans student protests at alma mater Harvard as ‘anarchy' as colleges surrender on divestment and Cornell pres. quits
2024-05-12
[IsraelTimes] Kenneth Griffin says university should embrace ’Western values,’ put meritocracy ’front and center’

Billionaire investor Kenneth Griffin called on his alma mater Harvard University on Saturday to embrace "Western values," saying that the turmoil across college campuses was the product of a "cultural revolution" in US education.

Griffin, founder of US hedge fund Citadel, told the Financial Times in an interview that the US had "lost sight of education as the means of pursuing truth and acquiring knowledge" over the past decade.

"Harvard should put front and center [that it] stands for meritocracy in America...," Griffin said, adding that schools should "embrace Western values that have built one of the greatest nations in the world."

Griffin, who has donated more than half a billion dollars to Harvard University, said in January that he has halted donations to the school over how it handled antisemitism on campus.
Consequences are an important teaching tool.
"What you’re seeing now is the end-product of this cultural revolution in American education playing out on American campuses, in particular, using the paradigm of the oppressor and the oppressed," Griffin told the FT.

"The protests on college campuses are almost like performative art..," he said.
Or a hysterical temper tantrum
"Freedom of speech does not give you the right to storm a building or vandalize it," he added. "That’s not freedom of speech. That’s just anarchy."

Since the first mass arrests at Columbia University on April 18, at least 2,600 demonstrators have been detained at more than 100 protests in 39 states and Washington, DC, according to The Appeal, a nonprofit news organization.

Griffin, who started trading in his Harvard dormitory, spoke at the Managed Funds Association conference in Miami in January about America’s elite universities and criticized the education at the universities blaming the "DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) agenda."

Harvard has been beset by controversy over campus anti-Israel activism since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas

war. In February, a congressional committee issued subpoenas to Harvard administrators as part of a broader investigation into antisemitism at the university. Two weeks earlier, the Department of Education opened an investigation into the university’s treatment of pro-Paleostinian students targeted by pro-Israel harassment.

In January, Claudine Gay, Harvard’s president, resigned under pressure following plagiarism allegations and a congressional hearing in which she dithered on whether calling for the genocide of Jews violated campus policy.

Several detained at MIT for blocking parking garage in anti-Israel protest
2024-05-10
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrators call for prestigious Massachusetts university to ’cut ties to a state that is currently enacting a genocide,’ as encampment protests continue at numerous US campuses

Police detained several people Thursday at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after demonstrators blocked a parking garage in their ongoing protest movement against Israel amid the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
against Hamas

Tensions have ratcheted up in standoffs with protesters on campuses across the United States and increasingly in Europe. Some colleges cracked down immediately, while others have tolerated the demonstrations, which have included instances of antisemitism and harassment of Jewish students. Some have begun to lose patience and call in the police over concerns about disruptions to campus life and safety.

In Boston, the US city most identified with higher education, students have set up encampments on at least five campuses, including MIT, Northeastern University and Harvard University.

At MIT, protesters have been asking administrators to end all research contracts with Israel’s Defense Ministry, which they estimate total $11 million since 2015. On Thursday, the school issued an alert just before 2 p.m. saying protesters were blocking the entrance to a campus parking garage and spilling onto a nearby street.

About two hours later, authorities split protesters up and pushed them away from the garage. At least three people were detained. Protesters walked away continuing to chant "Free Paleostine." The crowd dispersed, and the garage was reopened by 5 p.m., the school said.

MIT officials said later Thursday that fewer than 10 people were arrested by MIT police during the incident and the Stata Garage and Vassar Street are now open. Cambridge Police were also on hand to help clear the garage entrance, officials said.

Hannah Didehbani, an MIT student and one of the leaders of the protest, said the decision to block the garage was part of a larger effort to bring attention to what she described as MIT’s complicity with the Israeli military, which has been fighting against Hamas in Gaza since the terror group’s October 7 onslaught that started the war. Didehbani said she had been issued a suspension and an eviction notice by the school but said MIT cannot suspend the larger student movement.

"They’d much rather do those things than cut ties to a state that is currently enacting a genocide," she said.

The anti-Israel campus protests began nearly three weeks ago at Columbia University in New York City. It has since swept college campuses nationwide, with more than 2,500 people arrested.

'Sheila Jackson Lee Named Head Of Harvard Astronomy Department
2024-04-11
[BEE] CAMBRIDGE, MA — In the wake of claiming the moon is made of gas and the sun is "almost" too hot to get close to, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has been named the new head of Harvard University's Astronomy Department.

The Board of Overseers at the prestigious Ivy League institution was reportedly wowed by Jackson Lee's insights into the cosmos, with the school immediately seeking to get in touch with her about the department head position.

"Her knowledge blew us away," said Harvard Interim President Alan Garber. "When she said, 'The moon is made up of mostly gasses. That's why the question is why or how could we humans live on the moon' -- that's when we knew she was Harvard material."

While some have raised questions about Jackson Lee's qualifications to lead the school's Astronomy Department after her comments about the moon being comprised of gases, the board was willing to overlook any criticism. "It's not about qualifications here at Harvard," Garber said. "She hasn't been qualified to serve in Congress all these years, but she's done it. That says a lot about her ability to overcome adversity and general misunderstandings about basic elements. She literally watched a flag be planted on the moon, thinking it's being planted in gas - and yet, she got elected to Congress. What a leader!"

Jackson Lee's office said she would join the school's faculty within a few weeks and that due to normal legislative inaction, it would not interfere with her ability to continue serving in Congress.

At publishing time, Jackson Lee was planning her first lecture to educate students about the fact that asteroids are made of chocolate.

The Moon 'Is Made Up Mostly of Gases,' Sheila Jackson Lee Tells Students
2024-04-10
[Townhall] Same dipshit that thought we landed men on Mars. Decades ago.
While Democrats and leftist alarmists decry conservatives for supposedly peddling "misinformation" about "the Science™" related to climate, COVID, and genders (there are two, FYI), their own Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas is out and about telling constituents some real whoppers about the solar eclipse.

Speaking on Monday at an event she claims to have "created" at Booker T. Washington High School in her Houston-area district, she tried to provide some scientific explanation for the solar system's workings — but any students who listened are going to fail Astronomy 101.

"You have the energy of the moon at night," Jackson Lee tried explaining to attendees, seeming to misunderstand that the moon doesn't release energy at night, it is merely reflecting light from the sun.

"And sometimes you've heard the word 'full moon,'" she continued. "Sometimes you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon," which the graduate of Yale explained is a "complete rounded circle which is made up mostly of gases."

Huh? The moon is, well, solid. That's why astronauts can...land on it. There is a notable lack of gases on the moon, hence the need for space suits for the Apollo astronauts to not immediately die outside of their lunar landers.

Undeterred, Jackson Lee continued, saying "that's why the question is why — or how — could we as humans live on the moon. The gas is such that we can do that," the representative who previously served on the House's Science Committee and Space and Aeronautics Committee claimed. According to NASA, the moon's "weak atmosphere and its lack of liquid water cannot support life as we know it," but seemingly not as Jackson Lee knows it.

Democrat John Whitmire elected Houston mayor, defeating congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
2023-12-10
[MSN] Houston elected Democratic state Sen. John Whitmire as its next mayor on Saturday night, elevating a Texas lawmaker who has represented the city for 50 years by giving him a victory over U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in a runoff.

Whitmire, 74, who is one of Texas’ most powerful Democratic legislators, will now be at the helm of America’s fourth-largest city. His campaign focused on reducing crime, improving streets and bringing people together. He heavily outspent Jackson Lee, who was running to become Houston’s first Black female mayor.
without ethics or intellect
The congresswoman’s campaign also had to deal with fallout from the release in October of an unverified audio recording that purported to capture her profanely berating staff.

Whitmire built an insurmountable lead among early voters, winning among those voters by 30 percentage points.

Standing before a ballroom full of cheering supporters in the city's convention center, Whitmire said he was fired up and ready to go to work as mayor.

The Epstein Effect? Jerome Brooks, The Staffer Who Was Called a Fat Ass Stupid Idiot by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is Dead
2023-11-19
[AubreyRTaylor] Jerome Brooks one of the Black male staffers who was berated by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, in her infamous audio recording has reportedly committed suicide at 36 years of age according to multiple sources. As far as we know, the Sheila Jackson Lee for Mayor of Houston Campaign has not said a word about the untimely death of Jerome Brooks, who, according to several sources took his life on Sunday, October 29, 2023, which was only a few days after "LEAKED AUDIO" of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, berating Jerome Brooks and another staffer calling them idiots surfaced.

Jerome Brooks is the staffer who, according to the audio is the person who had switched the papers out that "SHE-JACK" was upset about.

Jerome Brooks is the staffer Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was talking about in the audio when she said, "Okay. So when I called Jarome, he only sitting up there like a fat ass stupid idiot talking about, uh, what the fuck? He doesn't know. Okay? Both of y'all are fuck ups [inaudible]. It's the worst shit that I could have ever had put together. Two goddamn big-ass children fucking idiots serve no goddamn purpose. Ain't managing nobody. Nobody's respecting them. Nobody gives a shit about what you're doing and you ain't doing shit. And this is an example of it. I gave it to Jerome. This is not child's work."

US Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's campaign chairman knocked out in dust-up at Houston campaign satellite office
2023-11-05
[ABC13 Hoouston] One person was reportedly assaulted at the office of Houston mayoral candidate US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee on Monday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
Going from congresswoman to mayor? Isn’t it usually the other direction?
The attack happened at Jackson-Lee's satellite office in the 4400 block of Almeda Road just before 10 a.m., according to police.

HPD said a suspect allegedly attacked 66-year-old Gerald Womack, Jackson-Lee's campaign chair. Police say the two are familiar and that he was harassing Womack for six months.

Womack reportedly told police that they began arguing when he saw the man inside the building that morning. The two got into an argument, and the suspect punched Womack in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

A minor scuffle ensued before the suspect left the building on foot, according to police. According to HPD, one officer said Womack did sustain a large bump on his head from the assault.

A statement was sent out by the mayoral candidate's office, which read in part:

"We are deeply concerned by these attacks, and this is yet another example of how dangerous conspiracy rhetoric inflamed by Republican extremists has real consequences where people get hurt. We have taken additional security measures and we will continue to move forward with our task at hand to elect the best choice for Mayor of Houston, Sheila Jackson Lee."

According to police, this case will be considered an assault on an elderly person.

Jordanian national arrested in Houston allegedly planned attack on Jews

Sohaib Abuayyash, 20, had been studying how to build bombs and posted about his support for killing Jews, federal officials claim.

"He has viewed specific and detailed content posted by radical organizations on the internet, including lessons on how to construct bombs or explosive devices," FBI Director Chris Wray told the Senate Homeland Security Committee, though he declined to identify Abuayyash by name.

"And that defendant has made statements to others that support the killing of individuals of particular religious faiths."

Abuayyash even allegedly made a direct reference in one social media post about an event in Houston for the Jewish community, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

It did not include details about the target and time of the alleged attack.

Abuayyash is behind bars on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by someone with a non-immigrant visa, and US Magistrate Judge Christina Bryan has ruled he should remain detained pending trial.

She wrote in court documents that Abuayyash spoke of committing martyrdom in support of a religious cause and made statements "that he wants to go to Gaza to fight," according to documents also obtained by CBS News.

"He has viewed specific and detailed content posted by radical organizations on the Internet, including lessons on how to construct bombs or explosive devices," she wrote.

An affidavit filed Oct. 19 in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas also says Abuayyash "has been in direct contact with others who share a radical mindset, has been conducting physical training and has trained with weapons to possibly commit an attack.
Update from NBC Houston at 6:00 pm ET
The charges allege Abuayyash was unlawfully in the United States and knowingly possessed a firearm, namely a Canik, model TP9 Elite SC, 9 mm pistol.
It apparently lists at $560, but can easily be found for $400.
Abuayyash was arrested by the FBI on Oct. 19. He remains detained pending further criminal proceedings. He is set to appear for his arraignment Nov. 13 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Yvonne Ho in Houston at 2 p.m.

According to the criminal complaint filed upon his arrest, Abuayyash entered the United States on a nonimmigrant visa, which expired in 2019,
...when our miscreant was 16, so he came either on a student visa or as a tourist — either way, presumably his parents were involved, so to whom did they entrust his care until he reached adulthood next year...
and has allegedly been in direct contact with others who share a radical mindset. The charges further allege he has been conducting physical training and has trained with weapons to possibly commit an attack.

If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in federal prison as well as a possible $250,000 maximum fine.

The FBI is conducting the investigation.
Update from the Fox News liveblog at 9:40 p.m. ET, just to wrap things up in a bow:
Court documents obtained by the TV station say the Jordanian national arrived in the U.S. on June 2, 2016, on a B2 tourism visa
...B-2 is an unlimited entry tourist visa...
and left about two months later.

"Using a Palestine passport, Abuayyash returned to the United States in June 2019. In January 2020, Abuayyash applied for an Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, which is still pending," FOX 26 stated.
Asylum?
"In August 2023, Abuayyash was approved for an employment authorization in the United States, allowing him to work in the U.S. until August 1, 2025. Abuayyash’s immigration status doesn’t allow him to possess or use firearms or ammunition," the outlet added.

Rosen, an independent journalist and anti-vaccine activist according to his profile, founded Predator Poachers in 2019 to find adults who seek sexual activities with minors.

Rosen can be heard asking loudly in the video: 'Hey, Hillary. Why did your husband visit Epstein Island 26 times?'

Afghan soldier Abdul Wasi Safi, once detained at Texas-Mexico border, wins asylum
2023-09-15
[MilitaryTimes] The solider helped U.S. forces in Afghanistan. As a refugee, he hoped to save his life by joining his brother in Houston.

Nearly a year after former Afghan intelligence officer Abdul Wasi Safi was detained near the Texas-Mexico border, the Justice Department on Tuesday granted him asylum to live with his brother Sami-ullah Safi in Houston and waived his immigration hearing.

Wasi said he couldn’t believe the news.

"I was in shock like, I say, 'Oh my God,' is it real?" Wasi said in an interview with Military Times. "Is it really my paper? My asylum is really granted or what?"

The decision comes nearly 11 months since Wasi said he turned himself in to border patrol agents to declare asylum but was charged with entering the U.S. without the proper documentation. Wasi's story was first reported by The Texas Tribune.

Wasi, 27, had left Afghanistan after the U.S. withdrew from the country after 20 years of conflict. As a special operations soldier in the Afghan National Security Forces, Wasi was under direct threat of retaliation by the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
. The last U.S. troops departed Afghanistan on Aug. 30, 2021, after the Taliban captured Kabul, leaving as many as 150,000 Afghans like Wasi behind, including individuals who worked closely with U.S. military forces as interpreters and combat assistants.

The brothers refer to the vacuum of the American presence in their home country as "the collapse," when the Taliban quickly took control over the government as the last planes departed from Kabul. In a harrowing journey across continents, Wasi made his way by air, taxi, and on foot to reunite with his older brother Sami, 30, in Houston. He was hopeful that the U.S. would welcome him with open arms, only to spend months in detention centers in Texas. He was released early this year after a swirl of press attention and major efforts by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee

, D-Houston.

But his asylum hearing was shifted multiple times, from July, to a date in mid-December, then November. Wasi wasn’t expecting a decision today.

Now, he just wants to provide support for his family still in Afghanistan.

"I try to find some good job, for my family, and I hope I go to college," Wasi said, after first tuning up his English. His brother, Sami, largely does the translating for him. The two have lived together since Wasi’s release from the detention center in Del Rio.

Democrats Denied Election Results 150+ Times Before Trump Was Indicted for Challenging Election
2023-08-17
[Breitbart] Although a Georgia grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump on Monday for challenging the 2020 election result, Democrats have refused to accept the results of elections they lost for decades.

As Breitbart News reported, more than 150 examples show Democrats denying election results, including President Joe Biden; two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton; House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY); Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX); and failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

In fact, every single Democrat president since 1977 has questioned the legitimacy of U.S. elections, according to the Republican National Committee. In both 2013 and 2016, Biden claimed that Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election. In May 2019, Biden said he “absolutely agrees” that Trump was an “illegitimate president.” Biden cast doubt on the legitimacy of the 2022 midterms this year.

In 2006, then-DNC Chairman Howard Dean stated that he was “not confident that the [2004] election in Ohio was fairly decided.” Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said it is “appropriate” to have a debate concerning the 2004 election and claimed that there were “legitimate concerns” regarding the “integrity” of U.S. elections. Then-Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) cast doubt on the security of electronic voting machines in the 2004 election, saying he was “worried” that some machines do not have a paper trail.

Democrats also cast doubt on the 2016 election. Seven House Democrats tried to object to the 2016 election electoral votes. After President Trump’s victory in 2016, 67 Democrats boycotted his inauguration, with some claiming Trump’s victory was not legitimate.

In September 2017, Hillary Clinton said she would not “rule out” questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 election. In October 2020, she added that the 2016 presidential election was not conducted legitimately, saying, “We still don’t really know what happened.”

In addition, Democrats supported Stacey Abrams in her stolen election claims. Hillary Clinton said Stacey Abrams “would have won” Georgia’s gubernatorial race “if she had a fair election” and that Stacey Abrams “should be governor” but was “deprived of the votes [she] otherwise would have gotten.”

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said, “I think that Stacey Abrams’s election is being stolen from her.” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) contended that “if Stacey Abrams doesn’t win in Georgia, they stole it.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said, “the evidence seems to suggest” the race was stolen from Stacey Abrams.

“We won,” Abrams falsely claimed about the 2018 election. “I didn’t lose; we got the votes,” and “we were robbed of an election.” She also called it a “stolen election” multiple times and argued, “It was not a free and fair election.”
