The motion, which was read by Speaker Sadiq, stated that both MNAs used "abusive language" and approached the dais of the speaker in a "threatening manner", which was an "unacceptable" action.

8 terrorists, aides absconding in TADA cases for 3 decades arrested in Doda: SIA
2023-09-06
Cold Case: India.

State Investigation Agency (SIA), the anti-terror arm of the J&K Police, has arrested eight absconding hard boyz and their associates involved in serious crimes of terrorism and disruptive activities.

The SIA on Thursday said that the TADA cases were registered around three decades ago in different Police Stations of district Doda and chargesheeted in the TADA Court, Jammu.

"These absconding hard boyz had managed to escape from the clutches of law for decades by going underground and remaining untraced for sometime and then resurfaced to enjoy normal family life at their native or some distant places. Some of these terrorist absconders have managed to get government services and contracts, others found engaged in private businesses and even working in the court," the SIA officials said here.

The arrested persons include Adil Farooq Faridi son of Abdul Ghani Faridi of House No 230, Sahidi Chowk Jammu (government employee presently posted in JKBOSE, Jammu); Muhammad Iqbal alias Javed, son of Sikander Khan of Asthan Mohalla, Doda; Mujahid Hussain alias Nisar Ahmad, son of Abdul Rasheed Gathwan of Asthan Mohalla, Doda; Tariq Hussain, son of Ghulam Ali Misger of Barshalla, Doda; Ishtiaq Ahmad Dev alias Ajaz, son of Muhammad Ayoub Dev of Sah Mohalla, Doda; Ajaz Ahmad alias Muhammad Iqbal, son of Abdul Rehman of Dandi Bhaderwah; Jameel Ahmad alias Jugnu alias Chika Khan, son of Faiz Ahmad of Kursari, Bhaderwah; and Ishfaq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh of Bun Doda (working as writer in Court Complex Doda).

"They will be produced before the TADA and POTA Court Jammu in pursuance of warrants issued against the aforementioned absconder terrorists," they said.

The SIA officials said that these terrorist absconders were involved in kidnapping for ransom and threat to kill one Ghulam Muhammad Wani of Doda at gunpoint (Case FIR No 158/1992 under Sections 3, 4 of TADA, 364 RPC, 3/25 Arms Act of Police Station Doda), kidnapping for ransom and killing of Muhammad Sadiq and Tariq Hussain of Doda from their home on April 23, 1994 night. Tariq Hussain was later killed and Muhammad Sadiq seriously injured. (Case FIR No 48/1993 under Sections 3 and 4 of TADA, 302 and 307 of Ranbir Penal Code, and 3/25 of the Arms Act, Police Station Doda).

"It also included instigating people by setting false narrative during the prayer of Shab-e-Qadr in Jamia Masjid Doda and other mosques of Doda, atrocities committed on the innocent people of Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
and motivated them to observe strike in Doda at the gunpoint by these hard boyz (Case FIR No 58/1991 under Sections 3 and 4 of TADA, 153/194-A of RPC of Police Station Doda), and recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition on June 22, 1994 concealed by these hard boyz under the ground at Shambaz area (Case FIR No 101/1994 under Sections 3 and 4 of TADA and 3/25 of the Arms Act of Police Station Doda)," they said.

The SIA said that in pursuance of its larger objective and mandate of achieving zero terrorism in J&K, it had initiated a special drive to trace and produce before the concerned court all absconders of terrorism related cases for facing trial under law.
Good job, guys — you are to be congratulated.
"The SIA has so far verified and identified 369 (215 in Jammu and 154 in Kashmir) absconders out of 734 absconders (317 in Jammu and 417 in Kashmir) in 327 TADA and POTA cases. Of the 369 verified absconders, 127 remained untraced, 80 have died and 45 are residing in Pakistain or PoK and other countries abroad and four are lodged in jail," the SIA officials said. "How these absconder hard boyz managed to escape from the law and live normal life at their native place without being traced for so long and other aspects of larger criminal conspiracy and nexus thereof and role of insiders if any will also be investigated by the SIA."

Street in New York co-named 'Allama Iqbal Avenue'
2023-08-09
[GEO.TV] As Pakistain's Independence Day fast approaches, an avenue in New York — the most populous city in the United States — has been co-named “Allama Iqbal Avenue".
That’s Sir Muhammad Iqbal to you, the national poet of Pakistan, who inspired the Pakistan Movement. I looked him up.
Ambassador Masood Khan has congratulated President American-Pak Advocacy Group Ali Rashid for his leadership in having the avenue co-named "Allama Iqbal Avenue".

Iqbal is an international icon
...those who know, know him. The rest of us have to resort to the internet or old Encyclopedia Brittanicas...
and a symbol of Pak nationhood. It was he who dreamed of a separate homeland for the Moslems of the Sub-continent — a dream which came true in 1947.

"New York is the most famous metropolis and naming an avenue after our national poet would cement Pak-US ties and a source of pride for Pak diaspora not only in NYC but across the United States," he said.
Worked so well for MLK.
He also paid tribute to Rashid for his resolute efforts to build better relations between Pakistain and the US, creating greater awareness about the history and culture of Pakistain in the US.

It may be recalled that Rashid and APAG were instrumental in introducing a resolution in the US House of Representatives to designate March 23, 2023, as "Pakistain Day."

Chemical lab says respiratory problems may be result of 'overexposure to soybean dust'
2020-02-19
[DAWN] The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) on Tuesday advised the government to consider "exposure to soybean dust (aeroallergens)" as a cause of breathing difficulties being faced by residents of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
's Keamari area.

So far, 14 people from different areas of Keamari have died and over 400 have been taken to different hospitals for treatment reportedly after inhaling toxic gas. Residents have complained of experiencing breathing difficulties, "burning sensation in the nose", watery eyes and itching in the throat.

ICCBS is an advanced research centre at the University of Karachi. The Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research and Hussain Ebrahim Jamal Research Institute of Chemistry are part of the research centre.

A letter sent today to Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani by Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, the director of ICCBS, said that the lab had examined blood and urine samples of people "exposed to toxic aerosols" as well as soybean dust samples collected from the port area. Dr Choudhary said that while the ICCBS was still "extensively engaged in deciphering the cause of this toxic exposure", the findings so far suggest that the symptoms being experienced by Keamari residents are a result of "overexposure to soybean dust".

ISIS plot to detonate bombs remotely using WIFI is foiled as police round-up dozens of terror suspects in Indonesia
2019-05-18
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Police announced the arrests on Friday and showed off bomb-making evidence

  • They said they had learned of a plan to use WIFI to blow up explosive backpacks

  • The suspects are thought to have been plotting carnage when election results are announced next week

  • World's largest Muslim majority nation has seen a string of attacks by Islamists

Some 29 suspects were rounded up this month alone, with 60 in all detained since the start of the year in raids across the Southeast Asian nation, they said.

Eight other suspects had been killed in confrontations with authorities, police said, including the wife of a militant who blew up herself and a child following a dramatic standoff at their home in March.

Some arrested suspects were skilled bomb makers and had fought alongside the jihadist group in Syria, as well as members of local extremist network Jemaah Anshurat Daulah (JAD), police said.

JAD has pledged allegiance to IS and was blamed for a wave of suicide bombings at churches in Indonesia's second-biggest city Surabaya last year.

Update at 9:50 a.m. EDT:
U.S. embassy issues Indonesia security alert ahead of election results

[Jpost] The U.S. embassy in Jakarta has issued a security alert ahead of election results due on Wednesday, as Indonesian authorities have arrested nearly 30 suspected militants, including some who police say are able to detonate bombs using Wi-Fi networks.

The embassy advised U.S. citizens to avoid areas where large demonstrations may occur in Jakarta, and in other cities including Surabaya in East Java and Medan in North Sumatra, in a statement that was dated on Friday, May 17.

Indonesian authorities have said they are heightening security ahead of May 22, when the official result of last month's presidential election will be announced.

Indonesian National Police spokesman, Muhammad Iqbal, told reporters in a briefing on Friday that police this month have arrested 29 suspects linked to Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) - the largest Islamic State-linked group in the country - and confiscated at least five homemade bombs in various locations across Java and North Sulawesi.

Some of the suspects have had paramilitary training and went to Syria as foreign fighters, Iqbal said.

Indonesian police also revealed that some of the suspects have learned how to use Wi-Fi to detonate explosive devices, but it was not immediately clear how advanced their plans were.

Detonating bombs using a Wi-Fi network is considered a new technique, Dedi Prasetyo, another National Police spokesman, told Reuters on Tuesday, and gets around using phone signals, which can be jammed during rallies involving large crowds.

"If there is (cell phone) jammer, then phones are not operable but the Wi-Fi signal will not be disturb, especially when using signal amplifier," Prasetyo said.

The police spokesmen did not answer or return phone calls on Saturday to get more information.

The police arrested EY, a local leader of JAD in Bekasi, near the capital Jakarta, on May 8 in the capital for plotting attacks during next week's announcement of the presidential election. The police identified the suspect only by his initials.

JAD does not have an official spokesman, and it is not known if any of the suspects have retained legal representation.

The arrests are part of the authority's efforts to tighten security ahead of an announcement by the General Election Commission (KPU) on May 22, when nearly 32,000 police and military personnel will be on standby in Jakarta.

The announcement is expected to confirm unofficial counts by private pollsters that showed incumbent President Joko Widodo as having won the race, a result which has been publicly disputed by his contender, ex-general Prabowo Subianto.

Prabowo's supporters have pledged to protest peacefully if the official result confirms Widodo's victory, and large groups of people could be out in the streets after the announcement.

Abu Sayyaf releases Indonesian captive
2019-01-20
[BenarNews] Abu Sayyaf rebels freed an Indonesian captive after kidnapping the sailor at sea off eastern Malaysia and taking him to the southern Philippines four months ago. Samsul Saguni and another Indonesian had been seized from a fishing boat in waters off Sabah, in Malaysian Borneo, and brought to Jolo, an island in the far south of the Philippines.

Saguni was freed Tuesday and retrieved by the military and local officials somewhere on the outskirts of Maimbung, a town on Jolo island. Regional military spokesman Gerry Besana said, “He was brought to the residence of Tan, and, upon checking his health by our physicians, it turned out he is physically healthy.”

Saguni and his companion, Usman Yunos, were on a fishing vessel when Abu Sayyaf militants boarded the boat and abducted them at gunpoint on Sept. 11, 2018. Yunos managed to escape from his captors in mid-December.

Indonesian foreign ministry official Lalu Muhammad Iqbal confirmed that Saguni was the man shown in an online video that went viral earlier this month. In the video, a shirtless man, whose hands are bound behind his back, kneels in a pit and pleads for his life as gunmen stand above him.

Indonesia protests Saudi execution of domestic worker
2018-11-01
[Al Jazeera] Indonesia has filed an official protest with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
after the kingdom executed an Indonesian domestic worker without notifying her family or consular staff.

Tuti Tursilawati was executed on Monday in the city of Taif, Indonesia's foreign ministry said, seven years after she was sentenced to death for killing her employer in an act she claimed was self-defence from sexual abuse.

President Joko Widodo criticised the decision on Wednesday, saying the government has officially protested to Riyadh and demanded better protection of Indonesian workers in the country.

Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, director at the foreign ministry's Indonesian citizens protection department, told news hounds on Tuesday the move was "regrettable".

"The execution of Tuti Tursilawati was done without notification to our representatives, either in Riyadh or Jeddah," he said at a news conference.

Tursilawati claimed she was acting in self-defence when she killed her employer in 2010 after he tried to rape her.

Migrant Care, an NGO advocating for the rights of Indonesian workers abroad, condemned the execution and urged the government to take serious diplomatic steps.

It said Indonesia should reverse its recent decision to allow a limited number of Indonesian migrant workers to Saudi Arabia despite a 2015 moratorium banning new domestic workers from entering 21 Middle Eastern countries.
