Ramadan holy month arrives as Gaza fighting subdues festivities, puts Israel on edge
2024-03-11
[IsraelTimes] Police promise to allow safe access for prayers on Temple Mount; in appeal to Israeli Moslems, Gantz says war is ’not against Islam, but against those who harmed values of Islam’

Israel was beefing up forces and security measures in Jerusalem Sunday ahead of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan, as the war in Gazoo

cast a somber mood on normally festive preparations by Moslems and ratcheted up fears of violence amid already sky-high tensions.

Thousands of police have been deployed around the narrow streets of the Old City in Jerusalem, where tens of thousands of worshipers are expected every day at the flashpoint al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third holiest site in Islam.

The sacred Ramadan month, which sees those observing abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset, marks a period of religious reflection, family get-togethers and giving across the Moslem world. Religious authorities in Soddy Arabia

saw the crescent moon Sunday night, meaning Monday is the first day of the fast in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, as well as much of the rest of the Moslem world, though others, like Jordan, will begin the holy month Tuesday.

Israeli security officials fear that Moslem anger over the Gaza war could rise to a crescendo during Ramadan, fueling unrest, especially if Israeli authorities attempt to limit access to the Haram al-Sharif holy site in Jerusalem, known to Jews as the Temple Mount.

war in remarks released to the public after his country’s Ramadan announcement.

"As it pains us that the month of Ramadan falls this year, in light of the attacks our brothers in Paleostine are suffering from, we stress the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities, to stop these brutal crimes, and provide safe humanitarian and relief corridors," the king said.

War cabinet minister Benny Gantz issued a direct appeal on Sunday evening to Moslem citizens of Israel, declaring that its war in Gaza is "not against Islam."

"These days, the State of Israel is in a difficult campaign that began with a murderous attack by Hamas holy warriors on all Israeli citizens, including Moslems," Gantz said in a pre-recorded message. "Our war is not against Islam — but against those who harmed the values of Islam. Against those who committed crimes against humanity, and also sought to tear apart Israeli society and our common future."

Declaring that Hamas wants to see Ramadan turn from a month of prayer to "a month of blood," Gantz asserted that the Gaza-based terror group "doesn’t represent the absolute majority of Israel’s Arab citizens."

The minister said that October 7 proved that "Arab society is an integral part of the State of Israel. When we are in danger, we are all in the same danger and face it together."

He added a pledge to maintain freedom of worship on the Temple Mount and called on Israeli Moslems to ignore "the forces of Evil who try to incite and harm us."

Police said earlier Sunday that terror groups were attempting to stir up unrest in the capital around Ramadan by spreading "false information regarding the reality in Jerusalem, the Old City and in particular the Temple Mount."

A statement said that 20 East Jerusalem residents had been arrested on suspicion of incitement and support for terrorism over the past two weeks.

In the past, rumors of Israeli attempts to change the sensitive status quo at the Temple Mount, which houses the al-Aqsa Mosque, have threatened to upend any semblance of calm in Jerusalem.

"The Israel Police will continue to act and allow for the observance of Ramadan prayers safely on the Temple Mount, while maintaining security and safety in the area," police said in a statement.

Despite a push last month from far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to restrict worshippers at the holy site, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that the numbers admitted to the compound this year would be similar to last year, pending a weekly assessment.

"This is our mosque and we must take care of it," said Azzam al-Khatib, director-general of the Jerusalem Waqf, the religious foundation that oversees al-Aqsa. "We must protect the presence of Moslems at this mosque, who should be able to enter in big numbers peacefully and safely."

In the West Bank, which has seen major violence for more than two years and a further surge since the war in Gaza, the stakes are also high, with Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus and other volatile towns braced for further festivities.

Nonetheless, there were no announcements of major troop deployments from the Israel Defense Forces.

In Jerusalem, in contrast to previous years, the usual decorations around the Old City have not been put up, and there was a similar somber tone felt in towns across the West Bank ahead of the start of the holy month.

"We decided this year that the Old City of Jerusalem won’t be decorated out of respect for the blood of our children and the elders and the deaders," said Ammar Sider, a community leader in the Old City.

In the ruins of Gaza itself, where half the 2.3 million population is squeezed into the southern city of Rafah, many living under plastic tents and facing a severe shortage of food, the mood was correspondingly bitter.

"We made no preparations to welcome Ramadan because we have been fasting for five months now," said Maha, a mother of five, who would normally have filled her home with decorations and stocked her refrigerator with supplies for the evening Iftar celebrations when people break their fast.

"There is no food, we only have some canned food and rice, most of the food items are being sold for imaginary high prices," she said via a chat app from Rafah, where she is sheltering with her family.

For many of those waiting, there is little alternative but to hope for peace.

"Ramadan is a blessed month despite the fact this year is not like every year, but we are steadfast and patient, and we will welcome the month of Ramadan as usual, with decorations, songs, with prayers, fasting," said Nehad El-Jed, who was displaced with her family in Gaza.

"Next Ramadan, we wish for Gaza to come back, hopefully all the destruction and the siege in Gaza will change, and all will come back in a better condition."

this week beyond the border region with Israel.

"This was deep inside Lebanon, approximately 60km [37 miles] from the border with Israel, outside the battleground where the Israeli army and the Lebanese group Hezbollah have been exchanging fire, triggered by the war on Gaza," Khodr said.
More from the Times of Israel:
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said an Israeli drone struck a car in the coastal town of Jadra, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the border.

The Hamas unit Salah was a member of was headed by Azzam Al-Aqraa, who was killed in the alleged Israeli strike in Beirut last month that also killed the terror group’s deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri.

Salah’s condition is unknown, but he is believed to have been injured in Saturday’s strike.

The strike took place deeper into Lebanese territory than the usual exchanges of fire between Hamas ally Hezbollah and the Israeli military, which have been mostly limited to the border region.

Israel rejected a new hostage deal proposed by the Paleostinian Hamas movement on December 31, 2023. The unnamed Israeli official said Hamas's proposal was a three-step process. Each of them provided for a pause in hostilities for more than a month in exchange for the release of hostages. Israel's military cabinet discussed Hamas's new proposal and told Qatari and Egyptian mediators on January 1 that the proposal was unfounded and unacceptable.

Four people were killed in an explosion at a Hamas office in south Beirut

In the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburb of Beirut, Daaheh, a kaboom occurred, after which a fire started, Rooters reports on January 2.

Lebanese media reported that the earth-shattering kaboom was the result of an Israeli drone attack on the office of the Paleostinian radical movement Hamas in South Beirut. There were injuries as a result of the incident.

The Al Mayadeen TV channel, in turn, reported that as a result of this explosion, the deputy head of the Hamas politburo, Saleh al-Arouri, was killed. Three more people, according to these data, were maimed.

TASS, citing informed sources, reported that, in addition to al-Arouri, three more activists of the Paleostinian movement were killed as a result of the earth-shattering kaboom. The number of maimed is being clarified.

As Regnum reported earlier, in October and November 2023, the Israeli Defense Forces reported several attacks on Lebanese territory - according to Tel Aviv Jerusalem, the targets were Hezbollah military facilities used to attack Israel.

Earlier on January 2, the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, said that the radical Paleostinian movement would release captured Israeli citizens only on its own terms, because the Paleostinians are the "masters of the situation." Hostage exchange initiatives will be considered only after an Israeli ceasefire, Haniyeh noted.

The Israeli authorities have refused a new deal with Hamas on the exchange of hostages, the Axios portal previously reported, citing an informed source. According to these data, Hamas' proposal consisted of a three-stage process, and at each stage a pause in hostilities was provided for more than a month in exchange for the release of the hostages.
A month at each stage? Hamas overestimates the effect of outside pressure on Bibi.
Courtesy of mossomo, an update from CBS News at 2:01 p.m ET:
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said the blast was carried out by an Israeli drone. Israeli officials declined to comment. Tuesday's blast shook a residential building in the Beirut suburb of Musharafieh. Reports differed on the death toll, but Hamas said six other members of the group were also killed, including two military commanders.

Hamas official Bassem Naim confirmed to The Associated Press that al-Arouri was killed in the blast. A Hezbollah official speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations also said al-Arouri was killed.

Al-Arouri, one of the founders of Hamas' military wing, had headed the group's presence in the West Bank. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had threatened to kill him even before the Hamas-Israel war began on Oct. 7.

The United States government had previously offered a reward of up to $5 million for information on al-Arouri, saying he had "been linked to several terrorist attacks, hijackings, and kidnappings."

The explosion shook Musharafieh, one of the Lebanese capital's southern suburbs that are a stronghold of the militant Hezbollah group, an Iran-backed ally of Hamas and one of the world's most heavily armed non-state military forces.

At least 17 people have been killed and around 100 maimed in the fighting in Ain al-Helweh refugee camp, on the outskirts of the port city of Sidon, according to the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy’s Lebanon branch.

The festivities have pitted fighters of Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

"The two parties agreed to implement a ceasefire... starting today at 6 p.m. (1500 GMT)," Paleostinian camp official Fuad Othman tells AFP by telephone.

A Paleostinian official close to Fatah confirms the agreement, requesting anonymity because they are not allowed to speak to the press.

The agreement came after the speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Knobby Berri

's largest Paleostinian camp, the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy's Lebanon branch said.

The Ain el-Helweh refugee camp, on the outskirts of the southern city of Sidon, has been rocked by violence since last week.

The festivities have pitted members of the Fatah movement, which controls the camp, against hardline Islamist bad boys, excluding Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,.

The renewed fighting on Wednesday killed seven people and maimed 16, Imad Hallak from the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy's Lebanon branch told AFP over the phone.

The latest deaths bring to at least 16 the number of people killed in the fighting since it broke out on Thursday, the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy said. Around 100 have also been maimed, it said.

Senior Paleostinian officials, including Fatah's Azzam al-Ahmad and Hamas's Mussa Abu Marzuk, met late Tuesday at the Paleostinian embassy in Beirut, a joint statement said.

They had expressed their "full commitment to consolidating the ceasefire" and agreed to "work to facilitate the return of those forced from their homes".

But the ceasefire collapsed on Wednesday, with an AFP correspondent in Sidon reporting violent mostly peaceful festivities in the evening.

Bullets and shells fell on different parts of Sidon, he said, adding that he saw dozens of Paleostinian families fleeing the camp.
Al Ahram confuses the question:
The latest deaths bring to at least 16 the number of people killed in the fighting since it broke out on Thursday, the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy said. Around 100 have also been maimed, it said.

Five days of fighting in Ain al-Helweh that began in late July killed 13 people and maimed dozens, in the deadliest outbreak of violence in the camp in years.

That fighting erupted after the death of an Islamist bad boy, followed by an ambush that killed five Fatah members, including a military leader.

9/11: Reflecting on 22 Years Since the Darkest Day in Modern U.S. History
2023-09-11
Seen on one of the Afghan news sites, which seems interesting today.
[KhaamaPress] On September 11, 2001, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by the hard boy group al-Qaeda changed the course of global history. On the 22nd anniversary of this tragic incident, it’s essential to reflect on the events of that fateful day, its implications, and how it shaped global counterterrorism strategies and geopolitics.

On the morning of 9/11, 19 al-Qaeda gunnies hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Within hours, the mighty Twin Towers collapsed, turning downtown Manhattan into a smoke-filled ruin.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon, the Department of Defense’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. A fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was headed towards either the U.S. Capitol or the White House but crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers tried to overcome the hijackers.

By the day’s end, almost 3,000 people from over 90 countries had bit the dust, marking the single deadliest terrorist act in world history.

Al-Qaeda, under the leadership of the late Osama bin Laden
...... who used to be alive but now he's not......
, quickly became the prime suspect. While the hard boy group orchestrated the attacks, they found sanctuary with the Taliban

in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s refusal to extradite bin Laden and dismantle terrorist camps eventually led to the U.S. launching the War on Terror.

Operation Enduring Freedom was initiated on October 7, 2001, to dismantle al-Qaeda and unseat the Taliban. Though the Taliban regime collapsed within months, the conflict continued for two decades. The U.S., during this period, established the Department of Homeland Security and enacted the USA PATRIOT Act, granting expanded surveillance powers to intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

The War on Terror also played a role in the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, propelled by the belief that Saddam Hussein might produce weapons of mass destruction and potentially ally with hard boy groups.

Nearly a decade post-9/11, in May 2011, U.S. Navy SEALs located and eliminated Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad

However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
despite these successes, Afghanistan’s political landscape remained volatile. As U.S. military presence diminished, the Taliban regained control, culminating in their capture of Kabul in August 2021.

22 years post-9/11, the globe faces a different landscape. The attacks reshaped geopolitics, influenced security policies, and altered perceptions of freedom and safety.

With the rise of other hard boy factions like ISIS post-Al-Qaeda’s decline, counterterrorism remains crucial. To ensure lasting peace, nations must address extremism’s root causes, from socio-economic issues to political disenfranchisement.

Commemorating 9/11’s 22nd anniversary reminds us of the innocent lives lost, the heroes of that day, and the unyielding human spirit. The lessons from 9/11 and its aftermath are enduring, continuously influencing global decisions.

A report from the Hasht-e Subh Daily, two years after the Taliban’s resurgence, reveals that a considerable number of regional jihadists, along with their families, are actively operating within Afghanistan under Taliban rule.

These findings indicate that approximately 300 families linked to the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Ansarullah of Tajikistan have settled in the northeastern region, particularly in Badakhshan province. Reliable sources in eastern Afghanistan further verify that thousands of families associated with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) murderous Moslems are currently residing under Taliban governance. Moreover, East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) fighters, despite China’s backing of the Taliban, are capitalizing on the benefits of their presence in Afghanistan. Many of these murderous Moslems maintain ties not only with the Taliban but also with al-Qaeda.

Moreover, the Taliban not only incorporate certain jihadists into their own ranks but also furnish them with Afghan identification documents and passports, dispersing them across different regions of the nation. Intriguingly, these murderous Moslems have also formed familial connections with Afghan households to strengthen their foothold under Taliban governance in Afghanistan.

UNVEILING AL-QAEDA: THE PRESENCE EXPOSED BY AYMAN AL-ZAWAHIRI
One of the groups that causes widespread concern among many countries is al-Qaeda, which they believe should not be present in Afghanistan. The Doha Agreement directly addresses this issue, with the United States securing a commitment from the Taliban to sever ties with this group. However,

in Afghanistan exposed a remarkably close relationship between the Taliban and al-Qaeda—one that not even the Doha Agreement managed to break. Even prior to al-Zawahiri’s demise, suspicions lingered about the Taliban’s intentions. The United Nations Security Council repeatedly asserted that the Taliban maintained connections with al-Qaeda hard boys. During that time, reports indicated that al-Qaeda operated in 15 provinces across Afghanistan. al-Qaeda members usually assumed a secondary role in battles alongside the Taliban, primarily focusing on offering guidance and training. Now, with the Taliban’s resurgence to power, this group’s members are inclined to rejuvenate their network and leverage the Taliban’s rule.

Zawahiri’s Letter to bin Laden, discussed in the Hasht-e Subh Daily during the reexamination of the Abbottabad

case, indicates that al-Qaeda does not intend to leave the Afghan geographical sphere under any circumstances. In the letter, Zawahiri states that al-Qaeda must remain close to the Taliban leadership and work on building trust. Conversely, the letter also demonstrates the commitment of the Taliban leadership to preserve and support al-Qaeda. While the undeniable presence of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan is evident, determining the exact number of individuals in this network remains challenging. The Taliban even deny the presence of a single al-Qaeda member and have made significant efforts to conceal the identities of these individuals.

(NDS) of the previous government recently reported that around 300 al-Qaeda members are fighting alongside the Taliban in their conflict. The UN Security Council Sanctions Committee, on the other hand, has cited estimates ranging from 400 to 600 hard boys. Despite the Taliban’s concerted efforts over the years, particularly in the past two years, to avoid exposing the identities and locations of al-Qaeda members, their active presence within the Taliban’s structures as advisors is a detail that the Taliban cannot conceal.

TTP AND SANCTUARIES ON THIS SIDE OF THE BORDER
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) is also one of the murderous Moslem groups aligned with the Taliban. These two groups share a deep bond, and their recent activities have demonstrated that both, adhering to a common ideology, have been collaborating against the republic system. In the past, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) provided refuge to the Afghan Taliban, but now the hosting role has shifted to the Afghan Taliban. Among all jihadist groups worldwide, they are the sole entity with territorial control. Alongside their close interaction and alignment with the Taliban, the Pak government has repeatedly urged the Taliban to deny sanctuary to the TTP within Afghan soil. In response, the Taliban asserts that no foreign jihadist group has a place in Afghanistan and poses no threat to other countries.

However,

the findings of the Hasht-e Subh Daily indicate that around 10,000 Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) murderous Moslems are present in Afghanistan with their families. Most of these hard boys, along with their families, reside in the districts of Goshta, Bati Kot, and Lal Pur in Nangarhar

province; areas close to the Durand Line, which provide convenient movement for TTP. According to local sources, while many TTP murderous Moslems have been in these areas, particularly in the Salalah region, for several years, their numbers have increased after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Sources state that TTP murderous Moslems and their families are present in regions like Salalah, Mama Khel, Ziarat-e Dagh, Zharai, and Ograi of the Goshta district, where they fulfill their basic needs from the markets of the Goshta district.

Most of these hard boys, who are also believed to be part of the Taliban’s reserve forces, have traveled from Lal Pur district in Nangarhar to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistain to wage war against the Pak government. An informed source, who prefers anonymity in the report, told the Hasht-e Subh Daily: "Many of them have gone from Lal Pur mainly to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. I know a commander who recently went with 30 individuals. The commander is known as Naaser, with the pseudonym Qahraman, he is for the Spin Tankai area in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Other commanders are named Bismillah and Enayatullah. Another one is known as Mullah Piran, originally from Swat, who is currently residing in Kashkot and Gaurik areas. Now the Emirates (Afghan Taliban) members also take the TTP’s seal of approval and head to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, claiming to wage jihad. This was a statement from a TTP commander who was saying that the Afghan Taliban have declared jihad against Pakistain."

s on the positions of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP). According to them, the attack took place in an area where families of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) were residing. Local sources stated that after the bombing, flames and smoke were observed in the region. The exact casualties of this event were not publicly disclosed, as the Taliban warned people not to discuss the matter among themselves. A source informed the Hasht-e Subh Daily, "No one can raise their voice out of fear, and [people] don’t talk about it among themselves."

Nonetheless, a recorded audio tape came into the possession of the Hasht-e Subh Daily in which members of the Taliban discuss the attack on TTP positions in the Arazi bazaar. The United Nations Security Council also confirmed the presence of TTP murderous Moslems on Afghan soil in a report. The monitoring committee of the UN Security Council referred to the TTP as the "largest constituent" of the Taliban. According to the report, the TTP has between 3,000 to 4,000 murderous Moslems in Afghanistan. The report identifies Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud as the current leader of the TTP and based on that, the TTP has become stronger and can pose a bigger threat in the region. However,

Fazal Ur Rehman Khattak, the leader of the National Awami Party (NAP), in a conversation with the Hasht-e Subh Daily, regards the TTP as an inseparable part of the Afghan Taliban. He states, "The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) is an inseparable part of the Afghan Taliban. This organizational distinction between them required intelligence games so that the international community would not see their bases within Pakistain as the Afghan Taliban’s region. Like before, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) exists in Afghanistan." Khattak also confirms the presence of thousands of TTP murderous Moslems in Afghanistan, saying, "Regarding their numbers, it’s difficult to be certain, but their count is not less than a few thousand." Last year, this Pak politician mentioned in a special interview with the Hasht-e Subh Daily that most ISIS members are murderous Moslems of the TTP. Meanwhile,

NORTHERN AFGHANISTAN: BASE OF OPERATIONS FOR TAJIK AND UZBEK MILITANTS
The presence of Central Asian murderous Moslems in the northern part of the country was a contentious issue in the former government. Security sources claimed the presence of dozens of foreign murderous Moslem groups in Badakhshan province. At that time, the Khostak Valley in the Jurm District of Badakhshan province hosted around 300 Central Asian hard boy families. However,

after the collapse of the Republic system, most of these foreign groups redirected toward the central parts of districts and cities in the northeastern region of Afghanistan. A source informed the Hasht-e Subh Daily, "During the Republic regime, [foreign hard boys] were here in Khostak, and now they’ve all moved down to the valley. The majority of their families have gone to the province of Takhār. Another group has gone to the forests of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province. About 20 to 30 families have gone to Baharak district. A few families are located in Fayzabad City. Five families have gone to Jurm District. Similarly, they’ve moved away from the Khostak Valley because no one is dealing with them, so they’re not causing any disturbances. They operate freely and conduct their activities normally. Another group of them has gone to Kalafgan District in Balkh province."

according to another informed source from Badakhshan province, the number of foreign murderous Moslems present in the Ragh district of Badakhshan province, along with their families, amounts to around 200 to 250 individuals. This source states that the conditions for living and operations have been established for these groups in various districts and urban centers, and as a result, they are attempting to spread out across different densely populated areas. The source adds, "The number of foreign murderous Moslems in Ragh has reached around 200 individuals. They are Tajiks, they are Uzbeks. Khostak Valley used to be their center, but now they have dispersed; they have come to the district of Raghistan, and they are seeking refuge. Some of them have gone to the Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province with their families. They are also present in Fayzabad city. A group of them is in the Maimay area too."

Another source confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that a significant number of these groups have received support from the Taliban and have established family ties. This source adds, "Most of them have obtained Afghan identity cards with the help of the Taliban. Several Tajiks [Tajikistani hard boys] have obtained ID cards in Fayzabad City. A number of them have obtained ID cards in various districts." The source states that around 20 families of Tajikistani Taliban members are living in three villages in the Ragh district. The source elaborates, "Two families among them have married locally, giving and taking daughters of each other. They are living in areas like Sefidab, Dahn Shala, and Khonilar. Similarly, they have dispersed across various areas of Badakhshan province. They have a strong interest in Ragh district due to its gold resources. These people [foreign hard boys] possess resources and capital. Their true intentions and plans remain unknown. The situation is quite complex." The source further revealed, "Before the fall of Badakhshan province to the hands of the Taliban, the center of foreign murderous Moslems was in Khostak valley. A person named Gul Heidar Shafaq has conducted major coordination. Another person named Abdul Rahim is involved. These two Tajiks have plans in this region, but it’s unclear what they are doing."

Referring to the killing of a commander from the Tajikistan border forces at the Afghanistan border, a source states, "A group of them, who were in Maimay, around 6 to 8 individuals, intended to intimidate the Tajiks, transfer their substances [drugs], and monitor the situation. They went for sabotage but clashed with Tajik security forces, resulting in the death of two and the return of four. Foreign murderous Moslems who were in Badakhshan province have mostly gone to Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province, where they have established training centers. Their number exceeds a thousand. They have centralized their operations there, focusing on training and procuring military equipment. It appears significant plans have been laid for Central Asia, but no one dares to voice concern."

Another source tells the Hasht-e Subh Daily that those families of foreign murderous Moslems who have come to Faizabad City, the center of Badakhshan province, live in the area close to the "former national army recruitment center". Additionally, according to the source, foreign murderous Moslems who previously collaborated with the Taliban against former security forces are now in command of the former National Army recruitment center. The source adds, "Foreigners have their base in the same recruitment and mobilization center. Foreign groups that were with the Taliban, of them are now in the former recruitment and mobilization center. They have a very limited presence within the city. They go out during the evening and night." The source further states that some families of foreign murderous Moslems in Badakhshan province are involved in arms trading and gold mining activities.

one of the residents of Badakhshan province has shared his observation with the Hasht-e Subh Daily regarding the presence of foreign murderous Moslems in Kunduz province. They report seeing individuals who cannot speak languages like Persian, Pashto, Uzbek, and Turkmen. According to this source, "It was a few months after the fall [of the previous government]. Our vehicle’s diesel pump was broken. They had just opened a square in the city of Kunduz. There was an automobile repair shop nearby. There were two vehicles packed with individuals. One of their vehicles was broken, so they took it inside the shop. They had a model of a fielder vehicle without a license plate with Left Hand Traffic (LHT). They were dressed in white clothes and wearing handmade traditional skullcaps. They were speaking among themselves, and we couldn’t comprehend. I think they might have been Uighur or Kazakh because they sounded similar to Russian or Kazakh. They had long beards, and their hair was machine-cut. They resembled local Turkmen, but they weren’t Turkmen because it was clear they had no familiarity with the people or the region. Everyone was saying that these are foreign Taliban."

Simultaneously, sources in Badakhshan province reveal that most of the Tajikistani murderous Moslems have gone to the forests of the Imam Sahib district, where they are engaged in training and planning. An informed source estimates the number of Tajik murderous Moslems in this district to be around 30. According to them, the Taliban use these individuals as a means of pressuring Tajikistan. The source adds, "Their number is not more than 30. They have a couple of tanks. Some days, they go to Shir Khan Bandar with the Taliban. There, they showcase themselves to the Tajik trucks passing through the border. They engage in fishing in the Shir Khan Bandar River. Everyone knows them there because they are well-armed and possess American weapons. Tajiks believe they can conquer their country in a day. The Taliban employ them for psychological warfare and pressuring the Tajiks."

A former government official with an in-depth understanding of the northeastern region of the country also informed the Hasht-e Subh Daily that all jihadist groups, including ISIS, Ansar Allah, and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), are active in northern provinces, particularly the provinces of Badakhshan, Kunduz, Takhar, Balkh, and Sar-e Pol. They added, "Under the Taliban’s protection, they have bases in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province in Spin Zar housing schemes, Shah Ron area, and other locations."

Regarding the presence of leaders from ISIS, Ansar Allah, and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), the source stated, "Sheikh Abdul Haq Uighuri, responsible for the military network of ISIS, and Mullah Ibraheem, head of Ansar Allah hard boy group have military bases in Baghlan province. Furqan (one of their commanders) lives in the house of Commander Gul Ahmad in the vicinity of Central Silo in the city of Pul-e Khumri, the center of the province."

group led by Alim Beg Mohammadov and the Tajik Taliban led by Mehdi Arsalan/Mohammad Sharifov are also present in northeastern Afghanistan, with around 200 to 300 hard boys. Informed and local sources in Badakhshan province also confirm the number of murderous Moslems in these groups and state that they are mainly stationed in border areas with Tajikistan.

THE PRESENCE OF THE EAST TURKESTAN ISLAMIC MOVEMENT (ETIM) IN AFGHANISTAN
According to the findings of the Hasht-e Subh Daily, the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) is also actively present in Afghanistan. Haji Furqan, the overall commander of the military fronts of this group, spends most of his time in Faizabad City, the center of Badakhshan province. Informed and reliable sources confirm to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that this member of the leadership of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) is currently residing in Faizabad city and his security is ensured by the Taliban. He has married in Badakhshan province and has acquired a forged identity and passport. This matter has also been confirmed by the United Nations Security Council’s monitoring committee report. The United Nations report states that Badakhshan province serves as the main base for this group. An individual named Abdul Haq al-Turkistani is responsible for leading this group.

Sources continue to confirm that this group is currently rebuilding its strongholds in the Wurduj district of Badakhshan province. A source tells the Hasht-e Subh Daily: "They have occupied the area and are reinforcing their strongholds. They control the region entirely." The United Nations Security Council’s monitoring committee report also states that this group has reconstructed several strongholds in Badakhshan province and expanded its operational area. According to the report, the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) has clandestinely procured arms to enhance its military capabilities.

(TIP/ETIM) to be around 700 to 800 individuals. Mr. Nabil has stated that the Uighur murderous Moslems are led by Haji Furqan and Sheikh Abuzar, who are mostly active in the northern and northeastern regions of the country. Mr. Nabil also mentions that this group is active in the provinces of Badghis and Ghor, with an estimated 100 to 150 hard boys.

According to the United Nations Security Council’s Monitoring Committee report, it has been mentioned that this group is actively engaged in exchanging military experiences and manufacturing kabooms in collaboration with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) and Ansarullah group. The Security Council’s report states that the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) is focusing its attacks on China’s interests in Afghanistan. The East Turkestan Islamic Movement’s (ETIM) primary goal is to establish an independent Islamic state for Uighurs in China and other Turkic-speaking groups in East China and Central Asia. While this group was previously listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, Washington removed it from the list last year.

Sources speaking to the Hasht-e Subh Daily claim that Haji Furqan is between 65 to 70 years old. One source states: "[Haji Furqan] mostly resembles Afghan Turkmens. He has a long beard, and a strong build, and is considered a religious scholar. He possesses eloquence and fluency, speaking fluent Persian. His preaching has had a significant impact in the areas he has operated in, attracting a larger following. The Taliban hold him in high respect. He has also trained the Taliban in using mines, explosives, and tanks during their fight against the former Afghan government."

Another source, speaking to the Hasht-e Subh Daily, stated that Haji Furqan spent most of his time during the Republic era in the village of "Keyu" in the Jurm district, near the Khostak and Warduj valleys. This source added, "During the Republic era, Haji Furqan was a primary financial supporter of Qari Fasihuddin [the chief of staff of the armed forces of the Taliban]. To the extent that Furqan gave money to the Taliban in Badakhshan province, the Taliban themselves [the Taliban regime] did not provide financial assistance." This source mentioned, "Furqan is currently on the move. He is mostly in Fayzabad. He has a close relationship with a drug smuggler and the third-ranking member of the Taliban in this province, and he spends most of his time at his house. He has taken a wife and established personal connections."
Furthermore, this source mentions another Taliban member who monitors the security situation of Haji Furqan, but due to security issues, the name of this Taliban member is not disclosed.

It is noteworthy that according to the claims of sources, Haji Furqan has also been involved in the Kharooq uprisings in Tajikistan’s Badakhshan province. According to one source, some members of this group operate under different aliases in a secretive manner in Tajikistan, and their financial resources are provided by drug smugglers. It is mentioned that Haji Furqan has spent some time with the al-Qaeda network and currently maintains close ties with that network as well. However,

the Hasht-e Subh Daily cannot independently confirm Haji Furqan’s role in the Kharooq uprisings in Tajikistan’s Badakhshan province.

Members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) have also attempted to establish familial ties in Afghanistan. Some members of this group have obtained Afghan identity cards and passports with the help of the Taliban. The United Nations Security Council report states that this group seeks to establish a presence in Afghanistan through various methods, including marriage, acquiring identities through fraudulent documents, and portraying their members as Afghan residents.

Earlier, Ramazon Rahimzoda, the Interior Minister of Tajikistan, had stated that the Taliban had distributed passports to around 3,000 members of "terrorist groups." He added that terrorist groups in northern Afghanistan are located near the Tajikistan border. Rahimzoda also asserted that over 20 terrorist groups are active in Afghanistan.

Previously, the Taliban have repeatedly declared that they have severed ties with terrorist groups in the region and denied the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan. This group, which interacts with regional countries, has also provided written assurances to China that it will not support the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) and other groups opposing the government of China in Afghanistan. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
it is noteworthy that the leadership members of this group (ETIM) in northeastern Afghanistan receive protection and identity documents under the stringent security management of the Taliban. Rahmatullah Nabil has also confirmed that foreign terrorist groups, due to their deep and ideological connections with the Taliban, have obtained Afghan identities and have settled in various parts of the country under different names.

It should be noted that alongside the United States, China, Pakistain, and Central Asian countries, Russia has also expressed serious concerns about the infiltration of murderous Moslem groups in Central Asia. Although Vladimir Putin

He stated that these terrorist groups pose a threat to the stability and security of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. It remains unclear how long these concerns will persist, but documents and evidence indicate that the relationship between the Taliban and regional and global jihadist groups is not conclusively terminated. It appears that in any case, the group will either protect them within their structures or under their support.

After Israeli raids, Palestinian police struggle to reassert control in terror hotbed

[IsraelTimes] July’s unrest in Jenin exposed Paleostinians’ seething resentment toward their semi-autonomous government and forced a reckoning for their beaten-down security forces

Last month, after the biggest Israeli military raid on a Paleostinian refugee camp in the West Bank in years, Paleostinians turned their wrath on their own security forces.

They unleashed gunfire, Molotov cocktails and pipe bombs at Paleostinian security buildings in an outpouring of rage against the Paleostinian Authority’s failure to protect them from the July 3 raid and a long-running, deeply unpopular security alliance with Israel.

’s forces in 2007, the PA has cooperated with Israel to suppress the Islamist movement and keep the secular nationalist Fatah party in power in the West Bank. Hamas is both a major threat to Israel and the biggest rival to Fatah.

The July unrest exposed Paleostinians’ seething resentment toward their semi-autonomous government and forced a reckoning for their beaten-down security forces, who in their blue camouflage uniforms have come to embody the tensions tearing at Paleostinian society. Widely derided for working with Israel, the forces remain a striking symbol of Paleostinian hopes for statehood.

Seeking to regain trust during a lull in Israeli military raids, Paleostinian police have launched a campaign to restore order in the city of Jenin, long a bastion of crime adjacent to the militarized refugee camp.

But the force’s efforts to seize cars, cash and drugs have also revealed their limits. As radical Jewish settler attacks and Israeli military raids surge under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right government, the law enforcement system in Jenin has teetered on the brink of collapse.

"If we think we’re establishing control now, we’re not fooling ourselves," said Ibrahim Abahre, deputy head of Preventive Security, a domestic intelligence agency, in Jenin. "At any moment, the Israeli army could enter and everything could explode."

Since the spring of last year, button men from the Jenin refugee camp, where Paleostinian forces are no longer in control, have carried out dozens of shooting attacks in the West Bank and Israel. Israeli soldiers have repeatedly raided the camp to kill and capture suspected assailants.

On July 3, Israeli special forces entered the camp under the cover of dronezaps, killing 12 Paleostinians, wounding dozens and causing massive damage amid the fighting.

According to the IDF, all of the slain Paleostinians were involved in the fighting, but there were some non-combatants among the maimed.

An Israeli soldier was also killed in the operation, which recalled one of the biggest battles of the second Paleostinian uprising over 20 years ago.

According to a tally by The Times of Israel, 172 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed across the West Bank in 2023 as a result of the conflict — most of them during festivities with security forces or while carrying out attacks, but some were uninvolved civilians and others were killed in unclear circumstances, including by armed Israeli settlers. It’s the territory’s highest corpse count in nearly two decades. Paleostinian attacks on Israelis have killed 27 people this year.

Israel says its incursions are counter-terrorism efforts prompted by the reluctance of Paleostinian security forces to intervene against terror operatives.

Paleostinians accuse Israel of trying to undermine their security efforts.

"They want to embarrass us," said acting Jenin governor Kamal Abu al-Rub. The Israeli raids, Paleostinian officials say, have inflamed tensions, stoked anger toward the Paleostinian Authority and inspired increased militancy.

"We understand the Paleostinian Authority has lost power," said Maj. Gen. Akram Rajoub, a longtime security commander and former Jenin governor. "But we are trying to control the chaos that erupts when Israel invades. Chaos is what undermines respect for the authority."

"Abbas can have his politics. My specialty is resistance," said 32-year-old Abu Suleiman, who served as a major in the security forces before being suspended for his bully boy activity.

"Everything the Paleostinian Authority does is in Israel’s interest," he added from his living room, its shattered windows taped shut, walls pockmarked from July’s raid. He gave only his nom de guerre because he is wanted by the Israeli military.

At the funeral last month for those killed in the raid, jostling crowds shouted insults at bigwigs from the ruling Fatah party and chased them out of the camp. "Collaborators!" they chanted — a reference to Paleostinian intelligence coordination with Israel.

"It was a natural, collective response to say, ’Wake up. Your job is to defend and protect us here, and you have failed,’" said 51-year-old Nidal Naghnagheyeh, the head of a committee running projects in the camp.

A week after the raid, 87-year-old Abbas visited the camp for the first time in over a decade to display solidarity. Paleostinian security forces began to rebuild their presence in Jenin — a bid to show they can impose order without Israeli interference. Israel’s army scaled back its operations in the camp to allow for that, the Israeli military official said.

Paleostinian authorities have deployed 1,000 new security officers from Abbas’s presidential guard across the city of Jenin. They have set up checkpoints to catch criminals who have long taken refuge in the city. Terror operatives are lying low, officials say, rather than shooting in the air and showing off their M-16s in the streets.

In the weeks since, police say they’ve seized scores of stolen cars from the streets, confiscated hundreds of narcotic pills and arrested 364 criminals, including over a dozen wanted in cold murder cases. Authorities are preparing to inaugurate a local prison.

Vendors without permits have been expelled from Jenin’s outdoor market and sent outside the city center.

But the law-and-order campaign does not extend to the territory’s greatest source of instability — the Jenin refugee camp. Police say they won’t disarm button men wanted by Israel or make arrests in the camp, underscoring the complexity of the security situation.

But even the stepped-up police tactics have rankled button men, who drive stolen cars to commit shooting attacks, carry smuggled weapons and own unlicensed vegetable stands. Last month the mayor, who helped devise the Jenin market makeover, narrowly escaped when peddlers angry about losing their income opened fire on his car.

"At night we face the Israeli army and during the day the Paleostinian Authority is now after us," Abu Suleiman said, adding that he had been stopped this week by plainclothes Paleostinian police who almost opened fire, mistaking the men for undercover Israeli soldiers. "At some point, hell will break loose."

Jebara, the police chief, said authorities’ failure to dismantle gangs is tantamount to the failure of the Paleostinian national project, which officers like him had hoped they were building.

"I joined the police force 21 years ago because I wanted to be accountable to my people, to impose illusory sovereignty on our own land," he said. "Now Israeli settlements have killed our state. Where does that leave us?"

Armed clashes erupt overnight between PA forces and terror group fighters in Jenin
2023-08-03
[IsraelTimes] Street fighting, prompted by PA’s arrest of two button men, signals escalating conflict between Ramallah and local Islamists in northern West Bank city

Armed festivities erupted between the Paleostinian Authority’s security forces and members of local armed terror groups on the streets of Jenin Tuesday night.

The fighting broke out in reaction to the PA’s arrest of two button men in the West Bank town of Jaba’, some 25 kilometers (16 miles) south of Jenin, according to the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-affiliated news website Shehab.

Following the arrests, armed assailants reportedly attacked the headquarters of the Jenin governorate, the local seat of the PA administration, prompting festivities with the PA security forces. The confrontation then moved to the Jenin refugee camp, where the PA forces opened fire and threw tear gas at the button men, storming into the local hospital, according to videos circulating on social media.

terror group.

A month ago, the Israeli military carried out a large-scale two-day operation in the Jenin refugee camp to dismantle the terrorist networks operating there and to seize weapons.

As the street fighting broke out Tuesday night, mosques in the refugee camp called on the PA via loudspeakers to release a number of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad members it detained following the IDF operation in the refugee camp in early July, in what local factions claim were "political arrests" and the PA sees as a crackdown on rival Islamist factions that have undermined its control over the northern West Bank for years.

In particular, local factions ask for the release of Khaled al-Ararawi, a prominent PIJ member arrested on July 15, who is also the uncle of 17-year-old Majdi al-Ararawi, one of the 13 button men killed by the IDF in the Jenin operation in early July.

Another video circulating on social media shows a group of gunnies marching through the Jenin refugee camp, chanting "Abu Mazen get out, no to the Paleostinian Authority, no to the army!" Abu Mazen is Mahmoud Abbas’s nom de guerre.

The PA is increasingly seen by some Paleostinians as collaborating with Israel at the expense of fighting for their rights. At a mass funeral held for some of the button men killed in the IDF operation in early July, big shots of the PA’s Fatah party were met with heckling and shouting from the angry crowd.

Abbas’s deputy Mahmoud al-Aloul, the head of Fatah’s Central Committee Azzam al-Ahmad, and other senior Fatah leaders were driven out of that event, with participants shouting "Get out!" as they raged against Fatah’s alleged neglect of the "resistance" against Israel.

Ramallah sends ministers to Jenin, cracks down on Islamic Jihad after IDF operation
2023-07-10
[IsraelTimes] Fatah-controlled Paleostinian Authority appears to try to reassert control over city in face of rival groups

A delegation of three ministers from the Fatah-led Paleostinian Authority visited the city of Jenin on Sunday and met with local officials, apparently as part of an effort to reassert the PA’s presence and clout in the city following the IDF operation against gangs there last week.

The army operation revealed the level of armament and organization of terror groups in the city, most importantly the Jenin Battalion, a local wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad

, Azzam al-Ahmad, head of Fatah’s Central Committee, and other senior Fatah leaders were driven out of the event with participants shouting, "Get out!" as they raged against Fatah’s alleged neglect of the "resistance."

To remedy the setback, deputy al-Aloul returned to the city three days later on July 8, for what appeared to be a friendly conciliatory meeting with the Jenin Battalion.

On Sunday, three PA ministers came from Ramallah to visit the city and meet officials. Interior Minister Ziyad Hab al-Reeh, Health Minister Mai al-Kaila and Local Government Minister Majdi al-Saleh inspected the areas that were subject to Israeli incursion in the refugee camp and met with the Jenin Governor Akram Rajoub and Mayor Nidal al-Obeidi.

According to the PA’s official media outlet al-Hayat al-Jadida, the three ministers conveyed Mahmoud Abbas’s instructions for a reconstruction plan for the city and refugee camp. The health minister also met with the director of a Jenin hospital treating the maimed from the operation.

The Jordan-based Paleostinian opposition website Amad, commenting on the visit, ran an editorial noting that the Fatah presence seen in Jenin in the past 48 hours had not been seen in years, as the movement was too absorbed in its internal organizational questions and in "awaiting the post-Mahmoud Abbas era."

The outlet claimed that Fatah is better at managing Israel’s security than the Paleostinians’ own, and its leadership "only reacts, it does not act with a vision."

Commenting on the meeting between Fatah officials and the Jenin Battalion, it said that Fatah put up a performance "only for self-publicity" that conferred it neither honor nor power. The leadership has not yet realized the extent of the "conspiracy" that is building up against it, the editorial concludes.

In parallel with the visits by ministers, the Paleostinian Authority has adopted harsher methods to reestablish its control over Jenin. According to the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-linked news site Palinfo, the PA has launched a crackdown on the Islamic Jihad in the Jenin area in recent days.

PA forces reportedly detained two men at a flying checkpoint set up during the IDF action as they were on their way to fight in Jenin. The two men, Murad Walid Malayshe (34) and Muhammad Walid Barahme (37), spent over 10 years in Israeli prisons for terror-related activities and are among "the most wanted by Israel," according to Palinfo.

On Thursday, journalist Ahmed al-Betawi was reportedly arrested, as well as an "activist" from near Hebron named Louay Qabaja, who was allegedly detained for a Facebook post and has been on hunger strike ever since.

The crackdown against Islamic Jihad members in Jenin continued on the night between Saturday and Sunday, with the arrest of two other PIJ members including Ahmad Salatneh, director of a Jenin charity group affiliated with the Islamic Jihad.
