Ringleaders among 3 terrorists killed in Khyber
2024-04-26
[GEO.TV] Intensifying actions to eliminate the menace of terrorism in the country, security forces killed three murderous Moslems including two ringleaders Sohail aka Azmato and Haji Gul alias Zarkavi in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district, the military's media wing said on Thursday.

The operation was conducted by the security forces on April 24-25 on the reported presence of gunnies in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Security forces eliminated three gunnies after intense exchange of fire, as well as busted their hideout during the operation, it added.

The ISPR further said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.

"Locals of the area appreciated the operation. A sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area as security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country," it concluded.

MILITARY PAYS TRIBUTE TO MARTYRED CUSTOMS OFFICIALS
Separately, the senior army commanders visited the families of eight martyred Customs’ officials who laid their lives in the line of duty in Dera Ismail Khan in two separate incidents that took place earlier this month.

In due recognition of this selfless sacrifice in fight against illegal spectrum and as an expression of solidarity, the commanders met the families of the martyred officials at their homes to express condolences, pay tribute and pledge unfliching support on behalf of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.

The families expressed their gratitude to the Pakistain Army for the support and respect.

The military’s media wing said: "Shuhadas and Ghazis are our pride and their respect and honour is binding on each Pak. We must never forget that the peace and freedom we enjoy today is due to the ultimate sacrifices rendered by these brave sons of soil."

"We as nation salute Shuhada families for sacrificing their loved ones for Pakistain," it concluded.

PTI looks towards COAS Gen Munir for leaders' release, mandate acceptance
2024-02-12
[GEO.TV] Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) top leader Barrister Gohar Khan Sunday demanded the release of the party's "political prisoners," including founder Imran Khan, in reaction to Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir's "healing touch" statement on general elections.

Congratulating the nation over the conduct of the February 8 polls, the army chief, on Saturday, said the nation needed stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and polarisation.

Gen Munir had said that Pakistan’s diverse polity and pluralism would be well-represented by a unified government of all democratic forces imbibed with national purpose.

According to the military's media wing, the COAS had said the nation needs stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and polarisation, which does not suit a progressive country of 250 million people. “Elections are not a zero-sum competition of winning and losing but an exercise to determine the mandate of the people.”

Responding to Gen Munir's statement, Barrister Gohar said "healing touch" means there should be no political prisoners in the country.

This comment by the politician, who also represents Khan in his legal battles, came during an interview with Arab News, setting the tone for the party's future moves as its candidates lead in the polls.

"[PTI] mandate has to be respected. Short of it there can be no healing touch.”

Gohar, while responding to the COAS's "unified government" stance, added that it does not necessarily mean a coalition government.

"United government means that every party should be united in one thing, which is that you have to respect and regard people’s mandate first,” he said.

The politician, who won the general elections from the NA-10 constituency, added: "The people have spoken [through the vote] and for the first time they have spoken in a very tough situation [amid a crackdown against PTI]."

In the interview, the PTI chairman said that 95 out of the 102 total independent candidates were backed by the party and remained its loyalists. The PTI will also contest the results in "at least 50 seats" where it considers the results have been manipulated.

The lawyer-cum-politician maintained his party is "near victory in Punjab" and has "two-thirds majority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa".

"We are actually close to the final figure in the Centre. We would be hopefully forming the government in the Center, as well as Punjab and the KP," he added.

Gohar, like several other politicians, also complained about the delay in the release of results by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), even two days after the end of the polling process.

"We are giving time to the Election Commission [of Pakistan] to announce all the results by 12 [am] tonight [Sunday],” he warned.

"If they do not, then we are going to hold a peaceful protest in front of the RO [Returning Officer] offices in all those areas where elections [results] have not been announced or elections [results] have been withheld," Gohar added,

Stating that the nation has decided in favour of the PTI, the politician also hinted at the possible release of the party's founder in the coming days.

"I think we will go to the high court, these convictions [against Khan] would be set aside and he will be out soon," said Gohar.

, which had been favored to sweep the polls, has so far won the second-most seats with 69. The Pakistain People’s Party (PPP) has the third-most with 51 seats.

None of the three major parties of the country will win the necessary 169 seats to have a majority in parliament and, therefore, will be unable to form government on their own, leaving it unclear who will be picked to be the country’s next prime minister.

In a speech released Friday, an AI-generated version of Khan claimed victory in the election and called on his supporters to "now show the strength of protecting your vote."

Khan, who has been behind bars since August, has been using AI to get messages out to supporters. "You kept my trust, and your massive turnout has stunned everyone," the AI voice said in the video.

Khan’s opponent, former Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, claimed that his PMLN party had emerged with the largest share. He admitted that his party did not have the "majority to form a government" and was looking for coalition partners.

Sharif, who once saw one of his terms end in a military coup, is considered by analysts to be favored by the country’s military establishment. The military has previously denied backing Sharif.

Speaking on Saturday, Pakistain’s Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said: "The nation needs stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and polarization which does not suit a progressive country of 250 million people."

"Pakistain’s diverse polity and pluralism will be well-represented by a unified government of all democratic forces imbibed with national purpose," Munir added.

Pakistan army urges unity as ex-PMs both declare election win
2024-02-11
[BBC] Pakistan's powerful army chief has urged the country to leave "anarchy and polarisation" behind as two ex-prime ministers declared victory in an election that has defied expectations.

With most results in, independent candidates linked to jailed former PM Imran Khan have won most seats.

But Nawaz Sharif, another ex-PM widely seen as having the army's backing, has urged others to join him in coalition.

Officials have also rejected Western criticism of how the election was run.

With no clear outcome, General Asim Munir called on all parties to show maturity and unity, saying the politics of polarisation did "not suit a progressive country of 250 million people".

COAS says 'any aggression to be responded with full military might'
2024-02-06
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir Monday reiterated that any aggression or violation of the territorial illusory sovereignty of Pakistain will be responded to with full national resolve and military might.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks while addressing the troops deployed on the front lines along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sarian Sector on Monday.

The trip comes on February 5, the day when Pakistain marks Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Solidarity Day, to express wholehearted support for the struggle of Kashmiri brothers and sisters in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

"Pakistain Army is well versed with the full threat spectrum and is perpetually ready to respond effectively," the army chief said.

The COAS also mentioned the Indian state-sponsored terrorism in Pakistain which now extended to the heinous targeting of individual Pak citizens on our soil.

Such callous disregard for international law and norms of the international system was becoming a routine occurrence and India was now being called out openly by many countries in the world, exposing her sham credentials, Gen Munir added.

The COAS also appreciated the operational readiness, high morale, and effective response of the troops to Indian ceasefire violations.

"Pakistain would continue to expose all such attempts and ensure the security of its citizens," said ISPR.

Earlier today, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, and the army chief visited Muzaffarabad.

Upon arrival at the Jammu and Kashmir Monument Muzaffarabad, the premiers and the army chief laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Monument and paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of Shuhada, said ISPR.

Pakistan, Iran stress joint efforts to fight terrorism
2024-01-30
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and the Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stressed collaborative efforts, better coordination and intelligence sharing to fight the common threat of terrorism.

The Iranian top diplomat called on the army chief at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday said. Realising the historical, religious and cultural ties that bind Pakistain and Iran, both sides emphasised strengthening bilateral ties and fostering greater understanding of each other’s concerns.

Recent tensions between the two countries rose after the missile strikes, with Pakistain recalling its ambassador to Tehran and not allowing his counterpart to return to Islamabad, as well as cancelling all high-level diplomatic and trade engagements.

But efforts were swiftly made to lower the temperature, with the envoys asked to return to their posts and Abdollahian invited for talks.

General Asim underscored the centrality of respecting the other state’s illusory illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling it sacrosanct, inviolable and the most important cardinal of state-to-state relationship.

The two sides observed that terrorism was a common threat that needed to be tackled through collaborative efforts, better coordination and intelligence sharing, the statement read.

COAS Munir also emphasised the need for sustained engagement and utilising available communication channels to address security concerns.

Both sides have agreed to operationalise the mechanism of deployment of military liaison officers in each other’s country at an early date to improve coordination and efficiency of response against common threats.

"Both sides reaffirmed the resolve to remain closely engaged and not allow any spoilers to drive a wedge between the brotherly nations. Pakistain and Iran

Pakistan's response to Iran a clear message to India, entire region: PM
2024-01-26
[GEO.TV] Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has stressed that Pakistain has "definitely given a clear message to the entire region including India" through its response to Iranian airspace violation.

"[After the airspace violation,] Pakistain has left with no option other than responding to Iran. The response has definitely had a message for India too and the entire region too," the premier said while speaking to a private news channel on Thursday.

claiming to target a bully boy outfit last week, Pakistain's military targeted terrorist hideouts inside the Iranian border on January 18.

Pakistain's retaliation, however, killed a number of bully boyz during the intelligence-based operation — codenamed "Marg Bar Sarmachar", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had said in a statement.

Iran's attack, which Pakistain's Foreign Office termed "unprovoked and "unacceptable", left two children dead and injured three girls, stating that it violated the country’s illusory sovereignty.

PM Kakar gave credit to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir for Islamabad’s response to Tehran. "Despite the prevailing political crisis, the entire nation supported the reaction."

"It was a difficult decision to make as we are very clear to immediately respond to such action from India. In this case, Pakistain has no border conflict with Iran. The whole world was looking towards Pakistain to see how we react to such violations."

The premier bluntly said: "Iran took a wrong step, so we responded, otherwise, we would have been chosen to stay silent. I still couldn’t find a logical reason behind Tehran’s move in the presence of active communication channels."

Amid heightening Pak-Iran tensions, the premier said that he deliberately avoided releasing a statement despite being pressed by many people. "I didn’t release a statement as the next response would be our true expression."

Pakistan's foes bent upon creating fissures using religious, political vulnerabilities: COAS
2023-12-26
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said Monday that enemies of Pakistain were hell-bent towards creating fissures using religious, ethnic, and political vulnerabilities.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the army chief made the remarks while addressing a ceremony held at Christ Church in Rawalpindi in connection with Christmas celebrations.

The congregation welcomed the COAS and thanked him for sharing the festivity. Gen Munir wished Merry Christmas to the entire Christian community in the country.

The army chief expressed reverence for the religious community and stressed the need to promote greater interfaith harmony in society in order to follow Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s true vision of a united and progressive Pakistain, said ISPR.

The COAS noted: "Islam teaches us the lesson of peace, friendship and encourages interfaith harmony which is the need of the hour."

He stressed the importance of having correct perspective, truth, and knowledge-based opinions about national issues rather than following rhetoric and propaganda, to address complex challenges and issues.

"Enemies of Pakistain are hell-bent towards creating fissures using religious, ethnic and political vulnerabilities. We have to stand together [and] united to rise as a resolute and strong nation."

Five terrorists killed in Tank
2023-12-09
[GEO.TV] Five bad boyz were potted by security forces in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, the army’s media wing confirmed on Friday.

According to a blurb issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the IBO was conducted in the general area of Mullazai of Tank on the reported presence of terrorists.

During the operation, intense fire exchange took place between the troops and terrorists. As a result, five bandidos holy warriors were "sent to hell", the ISPR said.

It added that the slain bandidos holy warriors remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against law enforcement agencies as well as extortion and murder of innocent civilians.

"A cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered during the operation," said the military’s media wing.

It further said that the sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other bandidos holy warriors present in the area, as the security forces of Pakistain are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.

A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said that illegal foreigners were "seriously affecting" Pakistain’s security and economy, stressing the decision to send them to their home country was taken in the country's interest.

Pakistan Army's top brass reaffirms unequivocal diplomatic, political support to Palestinians
2023-11-24
[GEO.TV] The Pakistain Army's top brass has expressed unequivocal diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of Paleostine and reiterated the country's principled stance supporting the two-state solution, based on pre-1967 borders with Al Quds Al Sharif as the capital of Paleostine, the military's media affairs wing said in a statement.

Since the launch of Hamas

-Israel war on October 7, nearly 15,000 Paleostinians — including 6,000 children — have bit the dust in Israeli forces’ barbaric attacks. Moreover, authorities in Tel Aviv claimed that 1,200 Israeli people, mainly civilians, have been killed and 240 others became hostages.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations statement (ISPR), the resolve was expressed at the 82nd Formation Commanders Conference held with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir in the chair at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday. Corps commanders, principal staff officers and all formation commanders of the Pakistain Army were among the attendees of the meeting.

Addressing the huddle, the army chief expressed satisfaction over operational preparedness and high standards of training and morale maintained by formations to deal with the emerging threat paradigm.

The forum paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of deaders including officers and men of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and Pak citizens, read the statement.

The participants were briefed on professional matters, national security challenges and measures being undertaken to counter traditional and non-traditional security threats.

The forum also took a holistic view of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations and resolved that all terrorists, their controllers and abettors, working on the behest of hostile forces to destabilise Pakistain will be dealt with the full might of the state.
