Dacoits slay 'defiant' primary schoolteacher in Kandhkot-Kashmore's kacha area
2024-03-20
[GEO.TV] A primary schoolteacher was rubbed out by some bandidos in Sindh’s kacha areas (riverine belt) of Kandhkot-Kashmore, where the dacoits continue to reign despite several efforts aimed at eliminating them.

The teacher, Allah Rakhiyo Nandwani, was attacked on his way back home from a cluster primary school in Nasrullah Khan Bijarani, which is known as a no-go area due to the presence of dacoits, on Monday (March 18).

The dacoits reportedly stopped him as he rode his cycle of violence and fled after shooting him dead.

The gruesome incident comes days after a video of Nandwani going to the school went viral on social media. The short video clip showed the schoolteacher carrying a rifle for his safety while navigating from his residence to the school and back.

"I go to the school [to teach] for the sake of students’ future. Police and education department have been telling me that I can’t go there (no-go area), but doing this would harm the future of children. I am protecting myself," he said as he showed the gun he carried in the video.

Defiant of the bandit-rule, Nandwani vowed to attend his duties as schoolteacher regularly to serve the students.

In the video, the slain teacher's own son was seen sitting behind him on the cycle of violence, who apparently studies in the same school.

According to the local police, gunnies shot up Nandwani near Mandani check-post.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar took notice of the incident and sought a report from Larkana Deputy Inspector General of Police Nasir Aftab in two days.

With the latest incident, it seems like police are unable to control the situation as entire district Kashmore is reportedly been under the rule of dacoits.

It may be noted that the dacoits of kacha areas in Kandhkot-Kashmore have kidnapped over 400 people in the past one year.

Despite big claims and over 250 operations by the Sindh Police, the kacha area dacoits apparently have been operating freely.

The police reportedly do not have modern weapons and equipment, except for the armoured vehicles but even these vehicles cannot go deep into the kacha areas due to wild bushes and sand. The could only reach the areas housing elements facilitating the dacoits but not the areas where their hideouts are.

Remember the killing of Muslims in Albuquerque that the media dropped when it turned out the shooter was Muslim
2024-03-19
[KRQE] Verdict reached in first trial for man accused of killing 3 Muslim men in Albuquerque

A jury on Monday found Muhammad Syed
…more fully Muhammad Atif Syed, immigrant from Afghanistan. He was originally said to have killed them because he was angry his daughter married a Shiite. His son, Shaheen Syed A.K.A. Maiwand, who had a habit of beating up his sister, had drivers licenses from Florida and Albuquerque, though he never lived at the Florida address, used a fake address to buy guns, and is thought to have worked with his father in hunting down targets…
guilty of first-degree murder for the July 26, 2022, killing of Aftab Hussein, a 41-year-old Pakistani immigrant in Albuquerque.

Police said Hussein was shot on Rhode Island Street near Copper. Jury deliberation started on Monday morning around 9:00am. It took them only two hours to reach their verdict.

Both the defense and the prosecution rested their cases on Friday after four days of testimony and 20 witnesses. Syed did not testify during the trial. Syed is now a convicted murderer, but the prosecution says his motive is still unknown.

“There’s only minimal conjecture on possible motive. As best we can tell, the motive in this may truly be a random serial killer type of mentality that we will never understand,” says David Waymire, prosecuting attorney.

“Certainly we felt relief, I think that the relief that we feel is certain upon us but as well as the community. We’re just proud of the verdict, proud of the work the jury did in deliberations,” says Jordan Machin, prosecuting attorney.

The prosecution team says they believe the cell phone records putting Syed in the area of the shooting, the gun linked to him, and the note Syed wrote in his Notes app saying he would ‘test’ his AK-47 minutes before the murder all helped make the case.

Syed’s defense team expressed disappointment with the verdict: “We respect the jury system. This is the best system in the world. Obviously we’re disappointed but the jury made their decision, they made a unanimous decision regarding our clients guilt and we have to respect that,” says Thomas Clark, defense attorney for Syed.

“Well certainly we respect their decision but we are understandably disappointed on behalf of our client,” says Megan Mitsunaga, defense attorney for Syed.

Syed still faces two other murder trials for two separate killings that took place in 2022. The next trial that’s expected to take place is for 27-year-old Muhammad Afzaal Hussain, a UNM alumni and Espanola city planner who was shot and killed while walking near his house at night near Cornell and Coal Avenue.

His brother, Muhammad Imtiaz Hussain, has been following this case and also spoke out Monday: “At least it give us a little bit of relief at least, that person who has potential of killing innocent lives, he is behind the bar and no other brother, no other son, will become victim of that hate-monger.”

The third trial is expected to be for 25-year-old Naeem Hussain. Police said Hussain was shot to death while sitting in his car in the parking lot of Lutheran Family Services on Truman off San Mateo, just north of Central Avenue.

No word yet on when the next trial will be scheduled. At sentencing, Syed faces life behind bars without parole for this first degree murder charge. His defense team says they plan to appeal the charge to the state supreme court, but plan to do so after the third murder trial has concluded.

Two Pakistan Army sepoys martyred in Lakki Marwat shootout
2024-01-11
[GEO.TV] Two soldiers were martyred during a gun battle with terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Wednesday, in the latest terror strike on the military.

In a statement, the ISPR — army’s media wing — said that a “fire exchange took place between the security forces and terrorists” in the district, during which the Pakistan Army's security forces ”effectively engaged the terrorists' location”.

As a result of their exchange, two terrorists — identified as Aftab aka Malang and Masood Shah — were “sent to hell”, the statement mentioned.

“These terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as targeted killings of innocent civilians,” the ISPR added.

The security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives following the completion of the task.

However, during the intense exchange of fire, two brave soldiers — Sepoy Muhammad Afzal, 29, resident of district Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, 27, resident of district Mansehra — embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly.

In response, a sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area, the ISPR said.

“…the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the military’s media wing added.

’s Warsak Road, police and hospital officials said.

According to the police, the blast took place due to a kaboom of explosives.

The injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital where two children are said to be at death's door. The ages of the children are between 7 to 10 years, the hospital’s spokesperson said.

SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said the Machnigate Police Station’s mobile vehicle was on routine patrol when the bomb went kaboom!.

"As soon as the police mobile passed by, the blast occurred three seconds later. The bully boyz wanted to target the police vehicle," he said, speaking with Geo News.

The police official said no arrests have been made yet, but the involved network will be apprehended soon.

Abbasi added that the CCTV footage of the earth-shattering kaboom is being examined.

Speaking with Geo News, Superintendent Police Arshad Khan — who was present at the incident — said the blast took place around 9:10am and the explosives were planted at the roadside.

The explosives used in the blast weighed 4kg and were hidden in a cement block on the roadside, he said.

Khan added that the police have started a search operation in the surrounding areas. "The element of extortion is also being considered in the blast."

"It would be premature to say who was the target," SP Arshad Khan said speaking with journalists.

Following the earth-shattering kaboom, police and Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site of the incident in the Babu Garhi area in Peshawar.

Rescue officials told Geo News that the glass of two vehicles and nearby buildings was broken due to the intensity of the earth-shattering kaboom.

Mayor Metropolitan Zubair Ali told journalists that the earth-shattering kaboom near a school was an attempt to disturb peace and order.

"The explosion near educational institutions is unfortunate."

Two killed in operation in Khuzdar
2023-09-17
[Dawn] The CTD killed two alleged forces of Evil of the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army during an operation in Khuzdar on Friday night.

A CTD front man said Amir Bakhsh alias Mazar Baloch and Ejaz Ahmed alias Aftab, close aides to BLA commander Siraj Bhattar, had been tasked with carrying out terrorist activities in Khuzdar.

He said the forces of Evil had left Shore-Parody camp on a cycle of violence, adding that after getting the information, a CTD team set up a temporary blockade in the Jaffarabad area to check the suspicious cycle of violence’s movement.

During the course of action, two suspicious motorcyclists with their faces muffled were signalled to stop, but the rider and his accomplice started indiscriminate firing.

The CTD personnel returned fire, resulting in the killing of both terrorists, the front man said.

Policeman martyred in attack on census team in DI Khan
2023-03-09
[Dawn] A cop was martyred while four others were maimed in a terrorist attack targeting a census team in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan

district, according to police.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Yaqoob Zulqarnain, a front man for DI Khan police, told Dawn.com that the terrorist attack occurred in the far-flung area of Gira Mastan within the limits of Daraban Police Station.

"The census team, accompanied by police personnel, was working in the area when unknown gunnies attacked the police party," he said. He added that the attackers fled after targeting the police mobile van.

Zulqarnain said that the five police personnel injured in the attack were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment where one of them died.

He said that police and other law enforcement agencies reached the area and initiated a search operation to hunt down the perpetrators, adding that no arrests had been made so far.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police identified the martyred officer as Constable Gul Faraz and the injured as ASI Hayatullah, Constable Aftab, Constable Mohammad Naeem and Sabir, the driver.

The banned Death Eater group Tehrik-e-Taliban

Pakistain (TTP) grabbed credit for the attack.

Surge in terrorism

Over the past few months, the law and order situation in the country has worsened, with terrorist groups executing attacks with near impunity across the country.

Since the talks with the TTP broke down in November, the Death Eater group has intensified its attacks, particularly targeting the police in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and areas bordering Afghanistan. Insurgents in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
have also stepped up their violent mostly peaceful activities and formalised a nexus with the TTP.

According to statistics released by the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, an Islamabad-based think-tank, January 2023 remained one of the deadliest months since July 2018, as 134 people bit the dust — a 139 per cent spike — and 254 received injuries in at least 44 Death Eater attacks across the country.

Police Lines mosque in recent months.

Just half an hour after sunset in the port city, officials said, three gunnies parked an Indus Corolla car at the KPO entrance before hurling a hand grenade at the gate. Wearing shalwar kameez, the gunnies brought with them "three bags of food", indicating their preparation for a prolonged siege, DIG East-Zone Muquddas Haider, who was among the senior officers leading the operation, told Dawn on late Friday night.

While officials initially said exact number of gunnies could not be ascertained who attacked the metropolis police chief office at around 7:10pm, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Barrister Murtaza Wahab after midnight shared details of 23 casualties — four martyred and 19 injured — on Twitter.

He earlier had tweeted, "The latest information is that 4 people were martyred (2 coppers, 1 rangers & 1 civilian) while 14 people are injured, who are being treated. Out of the injured 1 person is critical while the condition of 13 injured persons is stable."

Multiple explosions were heard during the joint operation, which was completed at 10:48pm, by Pakistain Rangers, army and police personnel.

DIG Haider said there were three attackers, all clad in shalwar kameez. One of them went kaboom! on the fourth floor of the building during the operation, while two others were rubbed out on the rooftop, he said.

Footage shared on social media, though unverified, showed flames and smoke emitting from the top floor of the highrise, with the sound of a kaboom and a man uttering ’God is great’ while cautioning people to stay away and that another blast might occur.

Both tracks of the busy Sharea Faisal, which links the city centre with airport, remained shut for traffic for hours during the clearance operation.

According to Rangers’ spokesperson, an officer of brigadier rank led the anti-terrorist operation during which all five floors of the building were cleared at night.

In a statement, police spokesperson said this was a major operation, which was completed by DIGs of RRF, South and East, respectively, as well as Rangers and army personnel.

During the operation, according to the police, one terrorist blew up an explosive jacket while the police firing left his two accomplices others dead.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also reached the Command and Control Centre at IGP office after receiving information about the attack and monitored the operation.

He directed the DIGs concerned and the Rangers officers to send personnel from their respective zones to the site.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that three bodies of law enforcers and a civilian were brought at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. She said the martyred officials were identified as police constable Ghulam Abbas and Rangers sub-inspector Taimur, while the identity of another police official could not be ascertained immediately.

A civilian, Ajmal Masih, was also among the dear departed, the police surgeon added.

The Rangers spokesperson later said the martyred SI Taimur originally hailed from Multan
...Home of the Multan Sultans...
, adding that their six personnel were also injured during the operation.

According Dr Syed, some of the injured were identified as Edhi worker Sajid, Rangers personnel Abdul Raheem, Imran, Tahir, Umair, Abdul Latif and Aftab, and coppers Latif, Abdul Khaliq, Rizwan, Haji Abdul Razzaq and Sarab.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, meanwhile, told Geo News that the federal government was in touch with the Sindh police.

He said he had spoken to the chief secretary and IGP who confirmed that six to seven hard boyz entered the building by hurling a hand grenade after parking the vehicle. Since a general security threat existed following the Peshawar mosque attack, all the institutions were fully alert across the country, he said.

Day 2: Pakistan blames 'security lapse' for mosque blast; 100 dead

...that’s Peshawar’s Police Lines area mosque, where police, army and government types all prayed together...
reflects "security lapses," current and former officials said as the corpse count from the devastating blast climbed to 100 on Tuesday.

The blast, which destroyed a Sunni mosque inside a major police facility in the city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. , was one of the deadliest attacks on Pak security forces in recent years. It left as many as 225 maimed, some still at death's door in hospital, according to Kashif Aftab Abbasi, a senior officer in Peshawar.

More than 300 worshipers were praying in the mosque, with more approaching, when the bomber set off his explosives vest on Monday morning, officials said.

The explosion blew off part of the roof, and what was left soon caved in, injuring many more, according to Zafar Khan, a police officer. Rescuers had to remove mounds of debris to reach worshipers still trapped under the rubble.

More bodies were retrieved overnight and early Tuesday, according to Mohammad Asim, a government hospital front man in Peshawar, and several of those critically injured died. "Most of them were coppers," Asim said of the victims.

Bilal Faizi, the chief rescue official, said rescue teams were still working Tuesday at the site as more people are believed trapped inside. Mourners were burying the victim at different graveyards in the city and elsewhere.

Counter-terrorism police are investigating how the bomber was able to reach the mosque, which is in a walled compound, inside a high security zone with other government buildings.

"Yes, it was a security lapse," said Ghulam Ali, the provincial governor in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, of which Peshawar is the capital.

Abbasi, the official who gave the latest casualty tolls, concurred. "There was a security lapse and the inspector-general of the police has set up an inquiry committee, which will look into all aspects of the bombing," he said. "Action will be taken against those whose negligence" caused the attack.

Talat Masood, a retired army general and senior security analyst said Monday's suicide kaboom showed "negligence."

"When we know that Tehrik-e-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain is active, and when we know that they have threatened to carry out attacks, there should have been more security at the police compound in Peshawar," he told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Tuesday, referring to a bad boy group also known as the Pak Taliban or TTP.

Kamran Bangash, a provincial secretary-general with opposition party Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

called for an investigation and said Pakistain will continue to face political instability so long as the current government is in power.

"The current government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
has failed to improve the economy and law and order situation, and it should resign to pave the way for snap parliamentary elections," he said.

, Geo News reported Saturday.

The faceless myrmidons attacked the Sarband cop shoppe located in the city's suburban area with hand grenades in the dark of night, leaving DSP Badaber Sardar Hussain and his two guards dead.

Senior superintendent of police operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi confirmed that the Sarband cop shoppe came under attack with grenades and sniper guns fitted with night vision thermal goggles.

The SSP Operations said the faceless myrmidons attacked the cop shoppes from two to three sides. He said that at least six to eight faceless myrmidons were involved in the attack. At least 12 to 14 coppers were present at the cop shoppe at the time of the attack, he said.

The SSP Operations said that faceless myrmidons lobbed five hand grenades into the compound of the cop shoppe. Four of the grenades were neutralised while one blew up, he said.

The police official said that the faceless myrmidons managed to flee after the attack. He added that the search operation had been halted and would recommence during the daytime in order to track down the attackers.

Police have repulsed the faceless myrmidons almost two hours after they attacked around 1am.

Taliban Releases the Manager of a Local Media Outlet after 4 Months of Detention
2022-10-11
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Directorate of Intelligence prison released the former owner and editor of Radio Aftab, a local radio station in Daikundi province of central Afghanistan, after 4 months of detention, Afghanistan Journalists Center (AFJC) reported.

After the Taliban forces discovered journalistic posts on his social media accounts, Mirza Hasani, the former editor and owner of Radio Aftab, was arrested in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province in north-eastern Afghanistan.

Hasani was detained on suspicion of working as a news hound for the National Resistance® Front (NRF), an anti-Taliban krazed killer group, and was subsequently transferred to the Taliban’s intelligence agency’s prison in Kabul.

Through a messaging gap, the AFJC claimed to have confirmed Hasani’s release with his wife Sakina Rahimi. Hasani was detained for four months in direct violation of press freedom before being freed in Kabul.

According to the AFJC, the request of the complaints investigation commission and the efforts of advocates for journalists’ rights made it possible for Hasani to be released.

The AFJC welcomed Hasani’s release but urged the Taliban to also release Khalid Qadiri, who is also detained by the Taliban and given a one-year prison term.

"We (AFJC) also call on authorities to release Journalist Khalid Qadiri who was sentenced to one year in prison in May for allegedly spreading anti-Islamic Emirate propaganda and committing espionage for foreign media outlets, and urge them to ensure journalists can do their work without interference, fear, or reprisal," AFJC said.

Abdul Hanan Mohammadi, a local news hound for Pajhwok News Agency, was released from the Taliban’s Intelligence Directorate prison in Kabul about two weeks ago, despite the Taliban government officials’ claims that there are no journalists held in the group’s prisons.

An AFJC report shows that during the first year of the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, there have been 245 cases of violation of press freedom in Afghanistan with 130 journalists detained for a short period of time.

Protest rallies held across Swat against recent 'wave of militancy'

[DAWN] A large group of people on Friday erupted into the streets across Swat

to protest against the presence of murderous Moslems in mountains bordering the area, asserting that they will never allow any elements to sabotage the "hard-earned peace" in the region.

The protests, titled ’We want peace in Swat’ and ’No to terrorism’, were held near the Matta Chowk in Khwazakhela tehsil and Kabal Chowk in Kabal tehsil.

The demonstrators were seen holding white and black flags as they walked through the markets of the districts. They also chanted "We want peace in Swat and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa" slogans.

The protestors, led by civil society activists Dr Amjad Ali, Advocate Ali Namdar, Ghairat Yousafzai, Ibne Amin Yousafzai, Rehmat Ali, Fawad Khan, Ehtishamul Haq, Mehtab Khan, Anwar Ali and Aftab Khan, said that the people of Swat would not be fooled again by any elements.

"We are peaceful people and we want durable peace at any cost. These elements must know that we have earned peace after extending unlimited sacrifices and we will not allow anyone to sabotage it," said Ali, while addressing the rally.

He continued that the residents of the region had earned peace over the years and were not ready to be "disgraced, displaced, or killed".

The participants of the rally expressed anger and sadness over videos recently released by bully boys. Last week, a video surfaced on social media showing a man claiming to be a member of the TTP interrogating an army major whose hands had evidently been tied behind his back, and asserting that the murderous Moslems had taken him and two others — a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and a soldier — hostage. A jirga later successfully negotiated the release of the captives.

On August 8, it was reported that four coppers, including a DSP, were maimed in a clash between police and suspected murderous Moslems at the mountainous border of Swat and Dir districts. While Swat’s district police officer said only one policeman was injured and the murderous Moslems suffered heavy casualties, unofficial sources said four coppers were hurt.

Also last week, PTI MPA Malik Liaquat Khan was maimed and three others were killed in Lower Dir when the vehicle in which he was travelling came under attack by bully boys.

At today’s protest, Namdar said that the residents wanted the district administration and the provincial government to investigate the incident through a judicial commission immediately and put its findings in front of the entire nation.

"Ensuring peace in Swat is the duty of security agencies and if they fail to do so, it will be a violation of the Constitution," he added.

Furthermore, the protesters questioned the role of the security and law enforcement agencies regarding the reappearance of murderous Moslems in the mountains of Swat.
