Six terrorists killed, four soldiers martyred in KP operations
2023-10-20
[GEO.TV] As many as six bad boyz were potted and four soldiers were martyred during two operations in separate tribal districts, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Thursday.

The fierce encounters between the holy warriors and security forces took place on the night between October 18 and 19 in North and South Wazoo districts, the military's media wing said in a statement.

The ISPR mentioned that the first engagement occurred in North Waziristan's Gharyoum area, where the security forces "effectively engaged the terrorists’ location" and killed six murderous Moslems.

The killed holy warriors included a high-value target, terrorist ringleader Hazrat Zaman alias Khawarey Mullah, who was actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area and was wanted by law enforcement agencies, the ISPR said.

During the operation, three soldiers bit the dust:

Lance Naik Tabbasum Ul Haq: age 36, resident of Rawalpindi district
Sepoy Naeem Akhtar: age 30, resident of Attock district
Sepoy Abdul Hameed: age 23, resident of Multan

district
In another intense fire exchange between the troops and holy warriors in South Waziristan's Asman Manza area, Sepoy Farman Ali, 25, a resident of Kashmore district, "paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat".

Following the operation, sanitisation is being carried out to eliminate any holy warriors found in the area, the ISPR said.

"The security forces of Pakistain are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve."

FIA arrests 5 Pakistanis over 'illegal emigration' to Israel
2023-07-06
[Dawn] The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said it had arrested five Paks on Wednesday on allegations of "illegal emigration" to Israel, which Islamabad does not recognise as a state.

All of the arrests were made in Pakistain, but scarce information is available regarding the timing of the suspects’ purported return from Israel.

The FIA said in a tweet that its Mirpurkhas crime circle carried out the arrests, stating that the suspects had been working in Tel Aviv as "helpers and car washers".

Separately, FIA Sindh (Zone-II) Director Abdul Hameed Bhutto told Dawn.com that all five of the arrested men were residents of Mirpurkhas who "travelled to Israel with the help of an agent, said to be an Israeli citizen".

The FIA statement on Twitter said that each of the suspects paid the agent Rs300,000 to Rs400,000 to enter Israel while Bhutto stated that they paid over Rs2m to the agent to get employment in Israel.

Their arrests were a result of an inquiry initiated by the FIA on the basis of a strategic analysis report (SAR) regarding foreign remittances, Bhutto said.

"By travelling to a country that was not recognised, the suspects had violated multiple laws.

"FIRs (first information reports) have been registered against them on account of their illegal emigration to Israel, despite knowing that their passports do not validate their travel to or stay in the country for the purpose of employment," he added.

The official further said that the FIA had invoked Sections 8 (regulation of emigration) and 17(1) (punishment for unlawful emigration) of the Emigration Ordinance, 1917, Sections 3 (prohibition of departure from Pakistain without passport, etc) and 4 (Punishment for contravention of section 3, etc) of the Passport Act 1974 and Section 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment) of the Pakistain Penal Code in cases against the suspect.

Dawn.com was able to access one of the FIRs, which said that the FIA’s Mirpurkhas branch recently initiated an inquiry on the basis of an SAR regarding outward and inward foreign remittances concerning individuals living in Mirpurkhas, who were allegedly involved in receiving remittances from Israel.

The suspect in this case, "was desirous to proceed to Israel for the purpose of employment," the FIR added, adding that he paid an agent — an Israeli national and his relative — Rs300,000 for "illegal emigration" to Israel.

In exchange for this amount, the FIR said, the agent arranged the suspect’s ticket and other documents for the travel.

It added that the suspect departed from the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
airport for Kenya on November 15, 2016 for Kenya "on the strength of Pak passport" and entered Kenya "on the strength of a visit visa".

The FIR further stated that the suspect left Kenya on November 17, 2016 and "proceeded to Israel through the Jordon Airport along with agent ... and took illegal entry into the Tel Aviv city of Israel for the purpose of employment, despite knowing the fact that Pak passport is not valid for Israel as Israel is non-recognised state by the Government of Pakistain".

According to the FIR, the suspect worked as a car washer in Israel, "in clear violation of the Emigration Ordinance 1979, and returned back to Pakistain on December 18, 2019 on the strength of the same Pak passport using the route of Jordan, Dubai and then Karachi".

He returned "after working there (Israel) for about four years by way of illegal emigration," the FIR read.

It added that during his travel and stay in Israel, the suspect remained a holder of the Pak passport, "which was not valid for Israel in violation of the Passport Act of 1974".

"The accused person ... while working in Israel, used to send his salaries in the form of foreign remittances through the Western Union of Pakistain post office, Mirpurkhas, which were accordingly received by his relatives residing in Mirpurkhas, Sindh," the FIR stated.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, Gloria again dodged the questing tip of the giant frog's tongue and ran for her life...
an FIA spokesperson told Dawn.com that the FIA had identified a total of eight suspects from Pakistain who were working in Israel and three of them were still on the lam.

Beijing wants end to terror attacks on Pak-Iran border
2023-06-10
[GEO.TV] For the first time, China, together with Pakistain and Iran, has decided to find ways and means to counter the threat of terrorism facing the region, The News reported.

In this regard, the Foreign Office on Thursday announced that the first Pakistain-China-Iran

Trilateral Consultation Meeting on Counter-Terrorism and Security was held at the director general level on Wednesday in Beijing.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (Counter Terrorism) Abdul Hameed led the Pakistain delegation.

"The delegations held detailed discussions on the regional security situation, particularly the threat of terrorism faced by the region. Based on the outcome of these consultations, the three sides have decided to institutionalise the trilateral consultations on counter-terrorism and security," the Foreign Office said during her weekly media briefing.

"Further details will be worked out in due course," Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said.

For China, which is behind the CPEC projects in the region, this trilateral cooperation would go a long way to ensure that security threats are addressed for these projects to be completed.

Barkhan District Health Officer Dr Abdul Hameed confirmed the corpse count to Dawn.com, adding that the injured persons had been moved to the Rakhni Hospital.

"One of the injured has died during treatment. The number of dead has increased to five while 13 are injured. The condition of eight injured is critical and they have been shifted to Dera Ghazi Khan for medical assistance," he said.

Khoso said the police have arrived at the site and cordoned it off. "Teams have begun collecting evidence from the site," he added.

Unverified videos making the rounds on social media show volunteers carrying bloodied victims away as a crowd gathers at the purported site of the blast. Mangled cycle of violences and charred vegetables can be seen strewn about on the road.

Pakistan ‘Indefinitely’ Halts Afghan Trade via Key Border Point

and injured two others.

The deadly incident triggered festivities between border security forces of the two countries with reported casualties, but neither side has formally commented on the reported losses.

A senior Chaman administration official told VOA by phone that the border crossing was briefly opened late Monday afternoon to allow stranded Afghan and Pak pedestrians to return to their native countries, but no trade convoys were permitted to move in either direction.

"The border terminal has now been indefinitely closed for trade and all other movements. It will not be opened until the handing over of the assailant responsible for the martyrdom of the Pak soldier," Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed Zehri told VOA.

Security camera footage circulating on social media shows the assailant among a group of several Taliban guards before he quickly brings out his weapon and shoots at Pak forces near an entry gate. A Pak security official confirmed the authenticity of the video to VOA.

Zehri said Pakistain’s attempts to seek a negotiated settlement to the issue failed to produce an outcome, but there were no festivities on Monday.

The motives of the shooting were not immediately known, nor have the Taliban offered any formal comment on the incident.

There were conflicting reports about the fate of the attacker. Some Taliban sources said they were searching for the man, while others said he was recently inducted into the border security unit and had already been apprehended.

The sources, however, ruled out the possibility of handing the suspect over to Pakistain, saying action against him will be taken strictly in line with Afghan laws.

The Chaman and the northwestern Torkham border crossings serve as the main trade routes for landlocked Afghanistan for bilateral and transit trade with and through Pakistain. There are several other relatively smaller terminals on the nearly 2,600-kilometer border separating the two countries.

Residents and traders said Monday scores of trucks transporting Afghan transit trade goods and bilateral shipments were stranded on both sides of the border after Pakistain closed the Chaman crossing.

The Taliban took over Afghanistan 15 months ago and have relied mostly on Pakistain to generate much-needed revenues for their cash-strapped new government through increased bilateral and transit trade.

Islamabad has in recent months removed tariffs and introduced visa concessions for Afghan traders. It has also dramatically increased Afghan coal imports, tilting the annual trade balance in favor of Kabul for the first time in the history of bilateral trade.

issues, particularly their treatment of women.

The absence of legitimacy and international economic sanctions ensuing the Taliban takeover have pushed the Afghan economy to the brink of collapse.

The Islamist rulers have placed restrictions on women, effectively limiting their access to public life and education. They have also ignored global calls for allowing teenage girls to resume their secondary-school education beyond grade six.

The hard-line group returned to power in August 2021 when the United States and NATO

troops withdrew from Afghanistan after nearly 20 years of war with the then-insurgent Taliban.

The group has dismissed criticism of its policies as well as calls for reversing restrictions on women, saying it is governing the country in line with Afghan cultural and Islamic law.

On Wednesday, Russia will host a meeting of special Afghan envoys from China, India, Pakistain, Kazakhstan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s treatment of women and other human rights concerns are expected to figure high in the multilateral talks. Russian officials say they have not invited Taliban representatives to the meeting, even though they took part in the last session of the so-called Moscow format gathering held in October 2021.

Fog o’War: Three variations on events in the Panjshir
2022-05-11
Islamic Emirate: "Adversaries in Panjshir Surrendered"
[ToloNews] The Islamic Emirate said that more than 100 of their opponents have surrendered through the mediation of tribal elders.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
the Resistance® Front claimed that many civilians have been targeted by the Islamic Emirate in Andarab district of Baghlan.

The Islamic Emirate denied the civilian casualties.

"50 forces of the opponents put down their weapons and surrendered to the Islamic Emirate in the mountains of Abshar district and also 60 other individuals in the mountains of Dara district of Panjshir surrendered to the Islamic Emirate," said Abubakar Sediqqi, a front man for the governor of Panjshir province.

Earlier, Panjshir officials said that at least 5 forces of the Islamic Emirate had been killed and two others maimed in festivities in Dara district of the province.

The Resistance® Front claimed Islamic Emirate forces targeted civilians in Qassan village in Andarab district of Baghlan province.

Salahuddin Rabbani, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, said he is concerned by the reports of civilian casualties in Panjshir province and Qasan village of Andarab district in Baghlan.

Analysts said that the parties involved in the fighting must uphold human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
"The involved parties in the war should consider human rights and prevent civilian casualties," said Hamid Azizi Mujadidi, a university instructor.

5 Islamic Emirate Troops Killed in Panjshir Clash: Local Official
9 May
[ToloNws] At least five members of Islamic Emirate forces were killed and two were wounded in a clash that took place on Friday in Dara district of central Panjshir province, local officials said on Monday.

A spokesman for the provincial governor’s office, Abubakar Sedeqqi, said that 5,000 troops are stationed in Panjshir following the clash.

Earlier, the provincial governor's spokesman told TOLOnews that six Islamic Emirate Force troops had died in the clashes.

“Less than five people were killed and two others were wounded. They were evacuated to the hospital and the martyrs were sent to their provinces. The claims made by the opponents of the Islamic Emirate are absolutely untrue,” he said.

Reports of clashes between the forces of the Islamic Emirate and the Resistance Front have been posted on social media over the past several days.

The Panjshir governor’s spokesman said at least 10 fighters of the Resistance Front were killed in the clash.

He also said the situation is under control.

“We are present in many areas of Dara, and Abshar and as well as in many areas of Andarab,” said Sibghatullah Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Resistance Front.

Meanwhile, the Resistance Front also confirmed six of its fighters were killed and claimed it has control over some parts of Dara and Abshar districts of Panjshir.

However, the Resistance Front claimed it had inflicted heavy casualties on the Islamic Emirate’s forces.

“These claims are untrue. There was some gunfire from the mountains. We have taken steps to suppress them,” said Abdul Hameed Khurasani, commander of the Nasir Badri troops.

This comes as videos are circulating on social media apparently showing members of the Resistance Front detained by the Islamic Emirate as well as forces of the Islamic Emirate detained by the Resistance Front in Panshir, but the videos have yet to be confirmed.

Resistance Front: 22 Taliban Militants Killed; Taliban: We Had No Casualties in the Panjshir Conflict
9 May 7:03 p.m.
[KhaamaPress] In a statement, Sebghatullah Ahmadi, a spokesman for the National Resistance Front (NRF), claimed that 22 Taliban militants had been killed in battles with the front, but local Taliban leaders in Panjshir refuted the claims, claiming that only three had been wounded.

“Hostilities had grown in Dara district, but a small-scale damage had been done to Taliban troops, including the destruction of three vehicles and the injury of three members,” Abu Bakr Siddiqui, spokesman for the Taliban governor in Panjshir province, told the media today, 9th May.

Six Taliban were captured and seven Taliban tanks were entirely destroyed, according to the spokesperson for NRF.

While the spokesman for the NRF claims that the Taliban are under pressure in Panjshir and have suffered casualties, a Taliban spokesman for the province claims that their “operation” to clear members of the NRF in the AbdullahKhel village has forced them to flee to the mountains.

However, public sources in Panjshir province state that two military helicopters evacuated all Taliban bodies and wounded to Kabul yesterday.

The bodies taken to Kabul were also said to have been returned to the provinces, according to the media.

Videos have also surfaced on social media saying that the Taliban abused residents after defeating the National Resistance Front and inflicted high fatalities.

The Taliban have yet to respond, and tensions in Panjshir appear to have escalated.

His family said that security agencies have "failed" to prevent such incidents in the city.

"They attacked my brother and martyred him. When I raised my voice, they opened fire on me and my foot was injured," said Abdul Qayum, brother of Abdul Jamil Afifi.

The festivities have displaced more than 5,000 families, according to the Refugees and Repatriation Directorate of Helmand. They have also closed over 40 schools in the province.

The Helmand festivities have drawn national and international reactions from Afghan officials and foreign diplomats who have condemned the Taliban attack and called on the group to reduce violence.

"Today (Saturday) the fourth police district (PD4) fell (to krazed killers). The frontline is in PD3. We are here at the frontline until our last breath," said Sayed Mohammad, a police soldier.

"The enemy wants to damage the city, but we have weakened them," said Sefatullah, a police commander of PD3 of Lashkargah city.

The residents said they fear a collapse of Lashkargah city as the fighting continues.

"The war has reached PD3. We think that the city will fall if the situation continues. We hope that both sides agree on a political settlement and peace comes to the country," said Noor-Ul-Haq, a Lashkargah resident.

"The Taliban are the sons of this soil...We are damaged by the war. Let’s get together," said Mohammad Amin, a Lashkargah resident.

According to figures by security agencies, more than 300 Taliban members, over 30 security personnel and 10 civilians have been killed and maimed in Helmand festivities in the last 10 days.

"The government has not made advances. If they don’t conduct operations, the situation will worsen," said Abdul Hameed Ahundzada, a member of Helmand provincial council.

Security forces said their operations to retake areas from the Taliban are moving forward slowly, in order to protect civilians.

"The joint forces of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces as well as commandos and special forces have made advances and are chasing the Taliban house-by-house," said Farid Ahmadi, commander of a unit of special operations forces.

"There is the issue of public benefit. The enemy has damaged it. Therefore, we don’t want to harm civilians and we move forward slowly," said Khalil-Ur-Rahman, Helmand police chief.
