Pakistan Railways Minister ScrambledEgged And Thrashed in London
2019-08-23
[FinancialExpress] Sheikh Rashid Ahmad who had earlier called India's decision to revoke special status to Jammu and Kashmir a 'blunder'. He also said that "India was unable to confront Pakistan as it knew that any war between the two Asian countries would not be a conventional war."

Pakistan Railways minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad was on Tuesday pelted with eggs and beaten up by two officials of the Pakistan People's Party in London. The incident took place when Rashid came out of a hotel after attending an awards ceremony in London. Following the incident, two PPP officials in UK - Asif Ali Khan and Samah Namaz - released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack.

The officials said that they assaulted Rashid because he had been using 'abusive language' for PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Pakistan-based Geo TV cited their statement in which they said: "He (Sheikh Rashid) has been using abusive and bad language during interviews against our Chairman Mr Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He should be thankful we only used eggs as a British way of dealing with such uncivilised politician. He started this we ended it."
I suppose he should be glad they didn't know about the leather sap.

Police say stray bullet hit Sheikh Rashid's car
2013-08-31
[Dawn] Member of the National Assembly, Awami Moslem League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad's car was hit by a falling stray bullet late on Thursday night, said the police rejecting the MNA's claim of being attacked.

The stray bullet, falling from the sky, was at terminal end of its trajectory at a low velocity and came at a vertical angle, police investigation revealed on Friday.
That kind of thing is clearly Allah's will, which is why the people, in a pious desire to aid him who they worship, send so many bullets randomly upward for his pleasure. Really, it's not merely about the gun sex.
The bullet partially pierced the top sheet of the car's trunk and got stuck there, said a blurb issued by the police.

The stray bullet, falling from the sky, was at terminal end of its trajectory at a low velocity and came at a vertical angle, police investigation revealed on Friday.
"Preliminary investigation by police has been conducted under the supervision of SSP, SP City and ASP City Islamabad."

Quoting the application submitted at Aabpara Police Station by Sheikh Rashid, police said that he was proceeding to his house located in Rawalpindi in his Toyota Corolla car after attending a TV programme.

Rashid stated in his application that he was fired upon but he remained safe when he reached near Zero Point on the highway at around 10 pm on August 29. The driver disembarked and checked the vehicle and found a bullet in the car's trunk.

On the complaint of Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Aabpara Police Station on Thursday night.

The MNA had informed the media about the incident prior to reporting it to the police, said the blurb. Police were investigating the incident from all angles, it added.

Milking a bull
Izharul Haq writes in Dunya that by making an electoral alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
, Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...

and gain some political leverage.

Sharif is a shrewd businessman and he can make 100,000 rupees out of one rupee, but this is politics. Deriving any benefit from the Maulana in politics is like milking a bull. Fazlur Rehman kept former president Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
and President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
in his pocket for eight and five years respectively, and did not let them move.

Tariq Ali supports Imran Khan
Nusrat Javeed writes in his column in Express that he used to hear a lot about Tariq Ali in his college days. Ali was known as a revolutionary, but he really wasn't. His struggle was limited to making speeches in foreign countries.

When Tariq Ali came to Lahore in 1970, the staunch socialists of Lahore did not welcome him. He made his uncle Shaukat Hayat Khan put land reforms in the manifesto of the Moslem League, but they were never implemented.

I don't know what Tariq Ali has been doing since then. I bought his novel but found it too difficult to understand for someone at my level of intellect. I could not read more than a few pages.

Tariq Ali attended the literary festival in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, where he said Imran Khan should get a chance. Imran Khan is cranking out reports after reports through think tanks on how to solve Pakistain's problems. He should set up a think tank for Tariq Ali so that he could talk to the Taliban and bring peace in the country. Tariq Ali's flawless English will make Imran Khan's party more revolutionary.

India steals Pak jokes
Afzal Rehman writes in Dunya that Pakistain has the best comedians. India steals Pak jokes, but Indian comedians make one cry, instead of making one laugh. Punjabi is the ideal language for comedy.

Halva and Naswar at APC
Eeported in Dunya, Maulana Fazlur Rehman served Naswar and Halva to the participants of his All Parties Conference. The participants ran towards the Halva dishes as if they were starving for weeks.

Taliban can't sleep
Daily Dunya juxtaposed two statements - one by Interior Minister Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
and the other by Punjab Home Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Malik says his security strategy is giving the Taliban sleepless nights. Sanaullah says Malik is a confirmed foreign spy.

Mr Bean of Moslem society
Sohail Bawa complains in Islam that holy mans have become an object of fun and jokes in our society. The Mullah is the Charlie Chaplain or Mr Bean of the Moslem society.

Clerics have been linked to jokes, foolishness, helplessness, poverty and illiteracy in drawing rooms. They are seen as people who call others infidels and promote terrorism.

Anybody can ridicule a holy man. The Mullah is a toy that anyone can play with. When children imitate the mullah who teaches them, their parents laugh and encourage it.

Retired bureaucrats become self-righteous
Famous writer and retired bureaucrat Kishwar Naheed writes in Jang that most generals and civil servants have nothing to do after retirement and they start recalling their evil deeds. They become self-righteous and start writing autobiographies, for example Hassan Zaheer, Roedad Khan, Gen Chishti, Gen Musharraf and Shahid Aziz.

They start fearing Allah in every fourth line. From Qudratullah Shahab to Altaf Gauhar, they all wrote bundles of lies in the name of literature.

Why don't these liars fear Allah when they are in service? Why do they lick the boots of the rulers to get extensions and new assignments when they are retiring?

Taliban do not take Rehman Malik seriously
Quoted in Jang, Taliban front man Ehsanullah Ehsan said his organization did not take Interior Minister Rehman Malik seriously.

He is a comedian and if he continues to talk non-sense, we will take it to mean the government is not serious in holding talks with us.

Fazlur Rehman betrayed Taliban
Abdul Qadir Looni, secretary general of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. (Nazriati), says in Ausaf that the Afghan Taliban don't trust Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

He ditched them when they needed his help. He is an opportunist. He has no morals and no principles. We can't even think of making an alliance with him.

Rescue 1122 saves heartbroken lover
Daily Jang reports that Rescue 1122 foiled a suicide attempt by a spinster whose lover betrayed her. She climbed on a tree and threatened to jump down. Intelligence officers in the Cantonment area failed to convince her to climb down. Rescue 1122 rescued her with a crane.

Destruction in Afghanistan after 2014
Writing in Jang, Saleem Safi says he has gone insane telling the policymakers for years that they need to change their strategy against terrorism.

The strategy he suggests is fool proof and can eliminate terrorism. But he vows to keep advising them. He sees complete destruction in Afghanistan after 2014.

Politicians change faces
Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt, politician Sheikh Rashid Ahmad says politicians are plastic-surgery leaders. They change their faces in every election.

They are like hungry pigeons that would go to anyone for oat.

Urdu One is enemy number one
Ex ISI chief Hameed Gul's son Abdullah Gul states in Ausaf that he has vowed to wage jihad against obscenity and his enemy is the TV channel Urdu One, which is airing immoral Turkish plays that don't reflect the Turkish culture. They are corrupting the youth with semi-nude Turkish plays.
The father was the masterminded the use of jihadis as tools of Pakistani policy, the son raises voice and waves fists at a television show. Sad, the thinning of the blood in only one generation.

Karachi blasts investigation directionless: Naek
2007-10-27
Former premier Benazir Bhutto’s lawyer Farooq Naek said on Friday the investigation into the October 18 blasts in Karachi was directionless and the investigators hadn’t questioned any of the suspects that her client had mentioned in a letter sent to the president, a private channel reported. According to Geo television, Naek said it was a duty of the investigators to question the suspects irrespective of their status. Naek said foreign investigators should be asked for assistance, much like Bhutto had done for the probe into her brother Murtaza Bhutto’s murder during her tenure as prime minister. Naek said Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi should be investigated, since Bhutto mentioned his name in her list of suspects. Meanwhile, Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad told Geo television that the Pakistan People’s Party workers that died in the Karachi blasts were martyrs and Bhutto should pay the affected families Rs 10 million each, instead of just Rs 5,000. He said many people had returned the Rs 5,000.

Top Pakistani government officials on Tuesday agreed to grant exiled former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto an amnesty from prosecution in corruption cases pending against her, a cabinet minister said.

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, who attended a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz that discussed the issue, said ministers and top officials had agreed "in principle" to quash old cases pending against Bhutto. Bhutto has held monthslong talks with President Gen. Pervez Musharraf over a possible power-sharing agreement. Among her demands has been for longstanding graft cases against her and other politicians to be dropped.

Three ministers on Mehsud's hit list
2007-06-01
The Interior Ministry’s National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) has warned three federal ministers that they are on the hit list of Baitullah Mehsud and should take extra security measures, sources told Daily Times here on Wednesday. The sources said that
Baitullah Mehsud, believed to be the head of Taliban operations in South Waziristan, was running the biggest suicide training camp in the country.
Baitullah Mehsud, believed to be the head of Taliban operations in South Waziristan, was running the biggest suicide training camp in the country and planned to assassinate Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad and Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam, said the sources. Mehsud is believed to have been behind the suicide attack on Mr Sherpao on April 28, the sources said. The NCMC has formally informed Mr Ahmad and Mr Muqam of the intelligence reports warning of serious threats against them.

“Yes I have received a letter from the Interior Ministry showing concern over my security,” Mr Ahmad confirmed. NCMC Director General Brig. (r) Javed Iqbal Cheema in his letters to both ministers said that the group that tried to kill Mr Sherpao at Charsadda last month might attack them with car bombs, said the sources. The NCMC suggested that both ministers take preventive measures to forestall any such attack. Brig Cheema didn’t confirm the report. “It is a sensitive matter which should not be discussed,” he said. Sources said that intelligence agencies had also asked Mr Sherpao to enhance his security and minimise his public appearances.

Force no solution to Afghan problems
2006-12-06
I hesitate to point this out, but force is one of Afghanistan's problems.
NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai said on Tuesday that the use of military force was not the solution to problems in Afghanistan, and hoped that the proposed jirgas on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border would help restore peace in the region.
How is it that the use of military force by the Talibs isn't a problem, but the use of military force against them is?
“The foreign offices of both countries have been working on the modalities for the jirgas, and Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri will visit Afghanistan tomorrow to discuss arrangements with his Afghan counterpart,” said Orakzai at press conference at the Peshawar Cantt Railways Station, after the inauguration of the Peshawar Express that will run between Peshawar and Rawalpindi. “A chance should be given for negotiations because peace cannot be restored by the use of military force in the troubled region,” he said. Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, who attended the inauguration, said that Pashtuns could not be defeated by force, and “their hearts can only be won by love and jirgas”.
Sure the Pashtuns can be defeated by force. The way to do it would be to select one subtribe of Pashtuns and demand their surrender. If they didn't, then they would be wiped out. Move on to the next subtribe and repeat. If necessary, repeat a third time, but it probably won'e be necessary.

Pakistan will stand by China against US ‘siege’, says Pak Minister
2006-02-23
BEIJING: Pakistan will stand by China if the US ever tries to “besiege” it, Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said. He said this while talking to a private television channel in Beijing on Wednesday.

Rashid said that President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to China will open new avenues of development and cooperation between the two countries in all sectors. Pakistan and China have signed 42 bilateral agreements during the president’s current visit, 13 of which have been reached at the government level and 27 are between the traders and entrepreneurs of both countries.

These accords are aimed at boosting cooperation in economy, defence, trade and the social sector. The information minister said that Pakistan and China are jointly manufacturing an F-17 thunder combat aircraft. He said that the test-flight of a second combat plane, an F-10, is scheduled for today (Thursday).

He said that Musharraf told the Chinese leadership that Pakistan wanted full membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin, due to visit China next month, along with the Chinese leadership will help Pakistan acquire SCO membership. Cooperation of other SCO members – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – will also be sought, he said.

The president also expressed condolences for the killing of three Chinese engineers in Balochistan, he said. agencies

Reports: Bin Laden's No. 2 not in targeted village
2006-01-14
Osama bin Laden's right-hand man in the al Qaeda terrorist network -- was not killed in a CIA airstrike on a remote Pakistani village, according a Pakistani intelligence source.
Curses! Foiled again!
Initially, U.S. sources said al-Zawahiri was the target of Friday's strike and may have been among the 18 killed. Pakistan's information minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad told CNN on Saturday the government plans to summon the U.S. ambassador and "make a strong protest" over the bombing of the village of Damadola, near the Afghan border. The Associated Press quoted a senior Pakistani intelligence official as saying "our investigations conclude that they (the CIA) acted on a false information." Reuters also quoted a senior Pakistani official as saying: "Al-Zawahri was not there at the time of the attack."
"Ayman! A drone just flew near the village and... Ayman?... Where'd you go?"
The Pakistani government was expected to issue a statement later Saturday, AP reported. Both the Pentagon and the White House declined to comment on initial reports of the airstrike on Friday. Friday morning's strike killed eight men, five women and five children, Pakistani intelligence sources told CNN. Three homes were targeted. "We are conducting tests to identify the bodies," one intelligence official said.
