Taliban rejects Pakistan’s accusations, says 18 Pakistani fighters killed last year
2023-08-10
[AMUtv] In response to Islamabad’s allegations, the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has taken an unprecedented step, acknowledging the deaths of 18 Pak fighters linked to ISIS and the apprehension of numerous other Pak fighters in Afghanistan over the past year.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesperson, released a statement on Tuesday, confirming that these Pak bandidos murderous Moslems were implicated in carrying out explosive attacks within Afghanistan and that there exists substantial evidence supporting this claim.

Addressing Pakistain’s accusations of planning attacks within its borders from Afghanistan, Mujahid emphasized that Islamabad should take responsibility for its own security lapses, stressing that the Taliban is not accountable for preventing or managing assaults within Pakistain.

Pakistain’s army chief, for the second time in a month, stated on Monday that some Afghanistan citizens are involved in activities detrimental to Pakistain’s security. In response to these assertions, Pakistain’s Minister of Human Rights commented that a misunderstanding exists between the two nations on this issue.

Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Pakistain’s Minister of Human Rights, stated: "Their (Taliban’s) defense minister has said that they won’t allow anyone to do something against Pakistain and it’s not jihad. So, I don’t think Afghanistan is that disloyal to Pakistain. I don’t accept that."

Simultaneously, Pakistain’s Express Tribune newspaper reported that Islamabad is attempting to secure a decree from Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s leader, denouncing the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain’s (TTP) activities as un-Islamic. Although the decree has purportedly been issued, it has yet to be made public.

Barna Salehi, an expert in international relations, cautioned: "If the Taliban and Pakistain do not address this issue promptly, the escalating tensions between the two factions could lead to a dire confrontation, proving detrimental to the Taliban’s interests."

In response to Pakistain’s accusations, Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid, the Taliban’s acting defense minister, recently advised Taliban fighters that traveling to foreign countries to engage in conflict does not qualify as jihad but is rather warfare. He acknowledged that some within the Taliban still uphold a solitary focus on fighting.

The Taliban’s acting interior minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, emphasized the need for restraint within the Taliban’s conduct and stressed that the present moment is not conducive to warfare.

Arrest warrants issued for women who broke into house, 'tortured' actor Uzma Khan
2020-05-30
[DAWN] A judicial magistrate in Lahore on Friday issued arrest warrants for three women who angrily stormed a house in the city's DHA neighbourhood where actor Uzma Khan was staying and allegedly tortured Uzma and her sister.

Video clips showing torture carried out on the actor and her sister, allegedly by the daughters of property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, had sparked outrage and calls for justice on social media earlier this week.

A first information report (FIR) of the incident was registered on Wednesday on Uzma's complaint. The persons nominated in the FIR include Riaz's daughters Pashmina Malik and Ambar Malik, Amina Usman Malik (wife of Usman Malik), and 15 unidentified gunnies — the private guards with whom the three women had entered the house seen in video clips.

Death toll in northwest Pakistan blast rises to 24
2015-12-14
[REUTERS] A blast killed 24 people and injured 70 in the northwestern Pak city of Parachinar on Sunday, officials said, and a banned Sunni Islamist group grabbed credit for the attack.

"This is Dire Revenge for the killing of Muslims by the Syrian president and Iran," said Ali bin Sufyan, front man for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
(LeJ), an Islamist group whose sectarian ideology is closely aligned with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
. He was speaking to Rooters by phone.

Earlier this week Rooters reported that a Shi'ite unit of Pak fighters known as the Zeinabiyoun were joining the war against Islamic State in Syria. Many come from Parachinar, which has a large Shi'ite population, unusual in Sunni-majority Pakistain.

Regional sources said there were hundreds of Paks fighting in Syria.

Sufyan said Parachinar residents should not travel to Iran or Syria to fight in the war there on behalf of the Shi'ites.

The explicit linkage of the Pakistain bombing to the war in Syria will alarm Pak officials, who are keen to play down reports that Islamic State is seeking to establish a foothold in their country.

A couple of small Lion of Islam groups who splintered from the Pak Taliban pledged allegiance to Islamic State, but they have not had much impact.

But across the border in Afghanistan, murderous Moslems who split from the Taliban and pledged allegiance to IS have established training camps, taken over territory and clashed with the Taliban.

Like Islamic State, which set up a cross-border caliphate in parts of Iraq and Syria, the LeJ wants to kill or expel Pakistain's minority Shi'ites and establish a Sunni theocracy.

The LeJ had once enjoyed the open support of Pakistain's powerful spy agency, the Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
, but the group suffered a series of setbacks this year.

The leader of LeJ, his two sons and several brass hats were rubbed out in police custody this July; police say they were trying to escape. Last month another top LeJ commander was shot by police while in jug.

But Sunday's bombing, if carried out by the LeJ, is proof that the group can still mount devastating attacks.

Parachinar local government official Riaz Hussain said Sunday's blast targeted crowds at a market.

"The corpse count has reached 24 and 70 are maimed," said Amjad Ali Khan, the political head of Kurram Agency
...home of an intricately interconnected web of poverty, ignorance, and religious fanaticism, where the laws of cause and effect are assumed to be suspended, conveniently located adjacent to Tora Bora...
. Parachinar is the capital of Kurram. ‎

"Some of the injured are at death's door," said Shafiq Hussain, a health worker at the Agency Headquarters Hospital Parachinar.

Saudi Arabia denies funding 'extremist mindset' in Pakistan
2015-02-10
[DAWN] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Monday denied funding of what it called the Lion of Islam mindset through its financial support of religious seminaries in Pakistain.

"A section of the media has been propagating a false impression that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is funding the Lion of Islam mindset in Pakistain through its financial support for religious seminaries," a press statement issued by the Saudi embassy said.

"Whenever any seminary, mosque or charity organizations request the kingdom for financial assistance, the embassy refers the matter to the Government of Pakistain through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for examining suitability of the applicant," the statement added.

It went on to say that only "when the ministry of foreign affairs informs the embassy in writing that the financial assistance is in the interest of public welfare, the assistance is provided to the applicant ... The assistance has always been beyond any sectarian considerations".

The Saudi embassy's statement comes weeks after Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Pirzada accused the Saudi government of creating instability across the Moslem world by distributing money in order to promote religious extremism.

The minister had said that the time had come to stop the influx of Saudi money into Pakistain, which he claimed had a destabilising influence.

During Senate session on January 30, Minister of State for Interior Baligur Rehman had informed the House that Middle Eastern countries namely Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar

[NATION.PK] Saudi Embassy has informed Riyadh, of Pakistain's concerns about funding to Madrassas from Soddy Arabia

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Official sources in Saudi Embassy said that a letter summarizing the concerns about the funding to some of the Pak religious seminary was sent to the concerned authorities, in Saudi Arabia.

The acting ambassador doesn't want to issue a policy statement in this connection as appointment of the new ambassador is awaited, the sources added. "And soon a policy statement would be shared with the media in this connection," a diplomat said on condition of anonymity.

State Minister for Education Mian Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman told sources the other day that funding from Saudi Arabia, would flow to any institution through government of Pakistain. "Permission of the government would be mandatory," he said.

The issue of financing of madrassas by Saudi Arabia was making rounds in the sessions of the parliament this week.

Recently, Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Pirzada severely criticized the Saudi funding to Madrassas in Pakistain, though latter, he amended his words.

A US diplomatic cable, published by WikiLeaks said financial support estimated at $100 million a year was making its way from those Gulf Arab states to an krazed killer recruitment network in Pakistain's Punjab

While sources in the PM House say the Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) Pirzada in a letter has said he "did not say a word" regarding Saudi Arabia causing disturbance in the Moslem world or Pakistain, sources close to Pirzada say he is standing by his statement.

Pirzada sought time after the meeting with Rashid and later sent a written reply to the prime minister saying his statement was "twisted".

[Dawn] The votes in the biggest ever by-elections in Pakistain's history have now almost completely been counted. By and large the polls were conducted in an orderly manner although it has been marred by few allegations of rigging, terrorist attack on Pakistain Army troops and women being denied the right to vote.

The polls are not expected to shatter the status quo in the country's political discourse; however it will indicate the mood of the public regarding the incumbent political parties.

'Sectarian violence': Two injured, one abducted in Peshawar
2013-01-28
[Dawn] Unidentified gunnies on Friday injured two people and kidnapped a hotel's manager in two separate incidents in the picturesque provincial capital.

The incidents appeared to be sectarian in nature though police didn't confirm it on the record.

A police official told Dawn that Ashiq Hussain from Parachinar and his friend, Fayyaz Khan from Kaga Wala in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
's Badbher area, suffered minor injures after a motorcyclist opened fire on them near Kohat Bus Stand at 10:30pm.

When contacted, SHO of Bala Mani Police Station Ghaffar Khan said a man riding a cycle of violence fired shots from his pistol on Ashiq and Fayyaz and fled.

He said according to witnesses, the injured were attacked shortly after they left their workplace at Kohat Bus Stand for their room in a nearby hotel.

The SHO said though Ashiq belonged to the Shia community, it had yet to be ascertained whether he was subjected to sectarian violence.

Another police official said the injured being treated at Lady Reading Hospital were reported to be stable.

He said the two had told police that they had no enmity with anyone and knew nothing about attackers.

Also in the day, Kamal Hussain, manager at a hotel in Kocha Risaldar area, was kidnapped by unidentified people, said a police official.

He said Kamal, according to his family, had no enmity.

When contacted, officials of Khan Raziq Police station said they had learned about the disappearance of Kamal and had no information about his whereabouts.

He said police had yet to register an FIR of the incident.

...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system...
Waseem Abbas, front man for Imamia Students Organisation, declared Kamal's disappearance kidnapping and said that was part of growing sectarian violence.

He told Dawn that Kamal had long been working as a manager of the hotel and had recently opened his own shop in the surroundings of Imambargah Alamdar.

"He went missing shortly after leaving home to meet someone in the area," the ISO leader said, adding that Kamal's all three cellphones were switched off.

Mr Abbas criticised the government for failing to ensure protection of the members of religious minorities, especially Shias.

He said over the last few months, many Shias, including businessman Abrar Hussain, Dr Riaz Hussain Shah and Dr Shah Nawaz Ali, were killed and a judge was shot at and injured as part of sectarian violence, but police had yet to arrest a single attacker. The ISO leader warned that the people, especially Shias, might agitate against the government over failure to check the growing sectarian killings.

Nuggets From The Urdu Press
2013-01-27
These nuggets are culled from the Urdu press. They are summarised here without comment. Absurd or ridiculous, tft takes no responsibility for them
In which a blockbuster is sold, women are paid, a handsome bribe fails...and the Imran factor is declared dead. Sing loudly hosannas, dear Reader, for all that is good on this final Sunday in January.
Orya Maqbul Jan on democracy
Writing in Dunya famous columnist and intellectual Orya Maqbul Jan said that interest-based economy and democracy were two evils that looked pretty on surface but were ugly in essence. Their exterior was magical but their interior was blood-stained, savage and disgusting. They rode together and could not last without each other's help. The media, which is the bought slave of these two wolves, presents itself as a sheep to the nation but in fact it was a Dracula clad in fine attire. The people became ensnared in their magic and fell victim to their bloody fangs. Under democracy the evil of trickle-down effect spread by capitalism fills the coffers of the rich who are then supposed to throw some crumbs to the populace.
Sounds like a blockbuster film proposal -- but we definitely want a Marianne type to play Democracie.
Tahirul Qadri bribed women with Rs 2,000 each
Quoted in Dunya Sajid Mir leader of Markazi Jamaat Ahle Hadith stated that Tahirul Qadri was put forward as a pawn by the US and UK while the military and the establishment were trying to damage the political base of Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
in Punjab. His long marchers were propelled by bribe. He gave Rs 2,000 each to all women who attended his rally in Lahore. He added that MQM and PMLQ were also filling Qadri's treasury with their funds so that he can go on disrupting politics. After the death of 'Imran factor' Qadri was the new pawn placed in the field of politics.

Tahirul Qadri enemy of democracy
Quoted in Jang Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stated that Qadri had entered Pakistain as an enemy of democracy. Fazlur Rehman of JUIF said that Qadri was a doctor who had come to cut up the belly of democracy but he (Fazl) will not allow him to do that.

Story of two Tahirs
Writing in Dunya Nazeer Naji stated that once adviser to governor Punjab under Musharraf, Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi went to see his namesake Allama Tahirul Qadri to tell him that General Musharraf looked at Qadri with kindness after receiving a gracious letter of extreme unction from Allama Dr Qadri. The meeting was most propitious because when Ashrafi came to his car his drivers had received expensive cloth for their suits and large bundle of gifts for Ashrafi had already been placed in his car. After this, letters were exchanged between Musharraf and Qadri but after some time Musharraf turned his attention elsewhere, whereupon Qadri wrote to him saying he would not mind becoming head of the Council of Islamic Ideology. But Musharraf did not show any reaction.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad great man
Columnist and anchor Hamid Mir wrote in Jang that Qazi Hussain Ahmad
... third president (1987--2009) of the PakJamaat-e-Islami. Qazi was also head of the Muttahidah Majlis-e-Amal until his ego became bigger than the organization. Qazi is what is known as a fiery preacher, which means he has lots of volume, a good delivery, and not a lot of reverence for coherence. He was the patron of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Rasool Sayyaf and Osama bin Laden during the war against the Soviets. He used to recommend drinking camel's urine to maintain good health before his kidneys started to go...
was the greatest Jamaat Islami leader after Maulana Maududi. His moderation was so touching that journalist Suhail Warraich, who was critical of Jamaat, got Qazi Hussain Ahmad to solemnize his marriage. After Musharraf fired Nawaz Sharif's government, he called on Qazi to join him but Qazi was not forthcoming with enthusiasm. In 2001 Hamid Mir went to Tehran with Qazi and met Hekmatyar who was then staying there. Qazi was critical of Hekmatyar who defended himself with deference. Qazi told him that it was wrong to start infighting among mujahideen and it was important to reach out to Northern Alliance. Qazi declined to become chief of the Jamaat for the fourth time in 2008.

What is Minhajul Koran?
Daily Jang published a profile of Tahirul Qadri's organization Minhajul Koran saying Tahirul Qadri and six of his family controlled it. Out of the Board of Directors three were approached but they were not aware they were members of the Board. Justice (Retd) Sheikh Riaz Hussain said he was a member a long time ago and Prof Humayun Ehsan said he did not know that he was on the Board. MNA Farooq Amjad Mir of Tehrik Insaf said he had resigned from the Board of Minhaj but did not know he was still a member. Qadri's two sons Hasan and Husain Muhiuddin hold important offices in Minhaj. Muhiuddin was the name of the famous mystic Abdul Qadir Jilani.

CM Hoti and fourth marriage

Amir Azam Hoti had married his fourth wife Humaira without the permission of his third wife Shamim Kayani
... four star general, current Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army. Kayani is the former Director General of ISI...
who had demanded payment of Rs 11 crore. In one court Hoti had pledged to pay Rs 11 crore to Shamim Kayani and give her a house in Islamabad in six months while in another court he had denied that he was married to her. Meanwhile Shamim Kayani has told the court that she fears for her life.

Hameed Gul says India about to fall
Reported in Dunya an organization called Kashmire Liberation Front was demonstrating in front of the Islamabad Press Club demanding liberation of Kashmire from India and its revival as a sovereign state. During the demonstration retired ISI boss Hameed Gul passed by, at which the protesters raised slogans against Pakistain too. Hameed Gul went into the crowd and advised them to raise the slogan of joining Pakistain because India was about to fall.

Only relationship with India: enmity!
Daily Dunya reported that retired generals of Pakistain army said rude things about India. Aslam Beg
...occasionally incoherent retired four-star general who was the Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army, succeeding the creepy General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, after the latter was rubbed out died in an air crash in 1988. The general was involved up to his hairy ears in the Mehran bank scandal, shuffling millions in public money to buy or lease politicians, and is believed one of the prime movers in the sale of Pak nuclear technology to Iran. He ranks second only to Hamid Gul in the volume and flavor of his anti-Western vitriol..
said if India was feeling indisposed then Pakistain had the right medicine for her cure (tabiyat theek kar dain gai). The generals said India had two sets of teeth, one for showing and one for eating and that it had not accepted Pakistain as a state. Mirza Aslam Beg said India was shooting our soldiers across the border while some Paks were doing japhian (embraces) of amn ki asha (hope for peace) with Indians. He said Pakistain could accept not India as a Most Favoured Nation because India still had to decide the issue of Kashmire. Hameed Gul said the only rishta (relationship) with India was that of enmity.

PMLQ richest, PPP poorest!
Reported in Jang the Election Commission made public the funds notified by the political parties. PMLQ was the richest with 5 crore in the bank, the PPP poorest with only Rs 4 lakh. PMLN had Rs 3 crore, MQM and Insaf had one crore each.

Balochistan as two-nation province
Quoted in Dunya leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mehmood Khan Achakzai stated that Pakistain must accept the prior right of the Baloch over all natural resources of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
. He said the Balochistan issue would be resolved when the existence of two nations - Baloch and Pashtun - was accepted there through a constitutional arrangement. He said the chief minister's post should alternate between the two nations.

Leftist Pervaiz Rasheed and the Quaid
Writing in Dunya famous columnist Haroon Rasheed stated that Senator Pervaiz Rasheed of PMLN was an old leftist who had found a niche in Nawaz Sharif's party while forgetting that Moslem League is a party of Quaid-e-Azam whom he never quotes. He was pulling the PMLN in the direction of liberal-leftists while more loyal Moslem Leaguers like Raja Zafrul Haq had receded to the background. Now the latest lesson Pervaiz Rasheed had taught Nawaz Sharif was that he should get the old leftists on board to benefit from their strength. When the traditional voters of PMLN discover that the party has compromised on its fundamental values they will stop supporting it.

PPP leader from Kurram killed in Peshawar
2013-01-11
[Dawn] Unidentified gunnies killed Pakistain People's Party, Kurram Agency
...home of an intricately interconnected web of poverty, ignorance, and religious fanaticism, where the laws of cause and effect are assumed to be suspended, conveniently located adjacent to Tora Bora...
president and noted physician Dr Riaz Hussain Shah in the busy commercial area of Dabgari Garden in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
on Wednesday afternoon.

An official of the east cantonment cop shoppe said Dr Riaz was targeted in his car by two men armed with automatic weapons and riding a cycle of violence outside his clinic a few moments after he left for home.

He added that the physician was taken to Lady Reading Hospital but succumbed to critical injuries.

A hospital source said Dr Riaz had breathed his last before being shifted to the premises.

"Dr Riaz used to come to his clinic early in the day and was in the habit to go home at 1pm and return at 4pm," he said.
According to his friends, Dr Riaz was the president of PPP, Kurram Agency and a candidate for the National Assembly seat, NA-37, from there.

They said Dr Riaz and his family had always strived for peace in Kurram Agency. He had survived two suicide kaboom bids in 2008.

In Feb 2008, 63 people were killed and 200 injured when a bomb went off at his election office in NA-37, Kurram Agency.

Born on May 11, 1959, Dr Riaz was a graduate of Khyber Medical College. He was a specialist in gastroenterology and practiced at a private clinic in Habib Medical Centre, Dabgari Gardens. Dr Riaz is survived by his widow and three sons.

This was the second murder of a specialist doctor in the last few months. Earlier, noted cardiologist Dr Syed Jamal had also been killed by unidentified gunnies after three months of his kidnapping from Hayatabad.

His body was found in Khyber Agency.

A police source said following the killing of Dr Jamal and the kidnapping of some others, a number of senior doctors had hired services of private guards at their clinics as acts of terrorism had caused serious unrest among their visitors.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales...
police have claimed to have beefed up security in different areas after the killing, saying there are reports about a possible attack by suspected jihad boys.

"Our officers have strictly directed us to remain alert as the text messages about attacks on high-profile personalities have created unrest," a police source said.

Police said they had registered an FIR against unidentified killers after Dr Riaz's family said they had no enmity.

"Investigators will study different angles to ascertain as to who could be his killers whether his political opponents or those belong to the opposite sect," an official of East Cantonment cop shoppe said.

When contacted, a front man for Imamia Students Organisation Waseem Abbas said body of Dr Riaz would be shifted from his residence at Defence Colony, Peshawar to ancestral village in Parachinar for burial. He condemned the killing and said it showed the complete failure of the government as the physician was attacked on the main road in a busy commercial area.
