...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. ’s Kech district, according to the military’s media wing.

A blurb from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: "On April 1, 2023, a group of murderous Moslems operating from Iranian side attacked a routine border patrol of Pak security forces operating along Pakistain-Iran Border in Jalgai Sector, District Kech.

"In the attack, unfortunately, four soldiers, including Naik Shair Ahmed, Lance Naik Muhammad Asghar, Sepoy Muhammad Irfan and Sepoy Abdur Rasheed, were critically injured and later embraced martyrdom."

The ISPR said that "necessary contact" with the Iranian side was being made for "effective action against terrorists" on their territory and to prevent such incidents in the future.
Update from Khaama Press at 3:30 p.m. ET:
Insurgent ethnic Baluch nationalist groups operating on both sides of the border have fought for decades for a more significant share of regional resources.

The Balochistan Liberation Army took responsibility for the attack and claimed to be fighting for the independence of Balochistan, which is rich in minerals, water and natural resources.

The Baloch people also claim that they face discrimination from the government. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the Pak authorities reject the claims.

Lawyers seek implementation of Qazi Isa report on Quetta carnage
2019-08-09
[DAWN] QUETTA: Lawyers and participants of a condolence reference, held in memory of deaders of the August 8 Quetta attack, have demanded the government implement the Justice Qazi Faez Isa commission report on the civil hospital carnage that three years ago deprived Balochistan

of 60 senior lawyers.

The condolence reference and a seminar was organised by Shaheed Baz Muhammad Kakar Foundation at Balochistan Boy Scouts auditorium on Wednesday to pay tribute to the martyred lawyers.

Senior lawyers of the country, including Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Amanullah Kanrani, SCBA ex-presidents Hamid Khan and Ali Ahmed Kurd, Pakistain Bar Council vice chairman Amjad Shah, provincial presidents Asghar Khan Achakzai, Muhammad Kakar and Dr Lal Muhammad Kakar spoke on the occasion.

The speakers expressed their serious concern over non-implementation of the Qazi Faez Isa commission report on the Quetta bombing and all promises made by the provincial government to the families of the slain lawyers.

SCBA President Amanullah Kanrani said that August 8 civil hospital carnage was against the illusory sovereignty of the country and lawyers community. He warned that if conflicts continued, the situation would further worsen. He said that the carnage had deprived Balochistan of 60 senior lawyers, creating a gap that could not be filled up for a long time.

Balochistan Bar President Muhammad Asghar Achakzai, who lost his younger brother in the Quetta bombing, said that most of the victims of the tragedy were head of their families and after their deaths the families were facing great difficulties.

He said that if the government had implemented the national action plan, the situation would have been different. "The setback of the attack on lawyers will haunt us for a very long time," Mr Achakzai said and questioned why the government had challenged the judicial commission report of the incident.

2019-05-30
[DAWN] LODHRAN: A schoolteacher was booked on Tuesday for forcing a minor boy to eat grass over his failure to learn a lesson at the Government Primary School, Fatehpur.

A video went viral on social media, showing seven-year-old Kashan, a student of pre-school, being forced to either eat grass or read out the lesson in front of his class fellows. The video clip shows Kashan forgetting his lesson and eating grass after being forced by his teacher, identified as Hamid Raza.

The teacher is working in the school on a contract basis. Muhammad Asghar, the father of Kashan, told Dawn that the incident happened two days back.

"The teacher is our relative and we forgive him for his act that he did as a joke," Mr Asghar said.

[DAWN] The Counter Terrorism Department, Rawalpindi, has placed in durance vile
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
a prime suspect in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto
... 11th Prime Minister of Pakistain in two non-consecutive terms from 1988 until 1990 and 1993 until 1996. She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. after he was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

The Kot Lakhpat jail authority has released suspect Rafaqat Hussain after he managed to secure bail in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson and two-time former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a gun and kaboom at an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on Dec 27, 2007.

An official seeking anonymity told Dawn that Rafaqat was shifted to Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail from Rawalpindi prison following some administrative arrangements.

He said the Kot Lakhpat jail officials got his release orders on June 23, 2018, and following written orders, they released Rafaqat Hussain.

His elder brother received him outside the jail, he said adding that as soon as he reached his destination, a CTD team from Rawalpindi raided and arrested him in a terror attack case lodged with a local cop shoppe.

"The CTD arrested him in another suicide kaboom carried out on Feb 6, 2007 at Rawalpindi International Airport," the official said.

According to this case, he said, the terrorist had detonated a bomb in a parking area of the airport wounding some law-enforcement agencies personnel and killing himself after a brief exchange of fire.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wine tasting, Vince was about to start on his third quart...
the official said, the suspect’s father also filed a plea to the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) claiming that Rafaqat Hussain had gone missing from the prison.

He claimed that his son was acquitted in the murder case of Benazir Bhutto in August 2017 but was detained in Punjab’s various jails.

Lately, Rafaqat was shifted to the Kot Lakhpat Jail from where he went missing under mysterious circumstances, he claimed.

Earlier, an anti-terrorism court acquitted five suspects for lack of evidence and declared former military ruler Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
a runaway.

ATC Judge Muhammad Asghar Khan found two coppers guilty of ’mishandling the scene of the crime’, making them the only people to have been convicted of the liquidation of Benazir in a gun and suicide attack in Rawalpindi on Dec 27, 2007.

murder case on Wednesday after the defence counsel concluded their arguments.

It is expected that the judgement will be announced at Rawalpindi's Adiala jail this week, as Judge Muhammad Asghar Ali Khan earlier said he would require two days to scrutinise and compile all the records.

In today's hearing, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor, Chaudhry Azhar, said that former president retired Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
─ declared "most wanted" in the case ─ could not appear before the court because he is under threat by the Al Qaeda.

Naseer Tanoli, the lawyer of Aitzaz Shah who is accused of helping and financing the attack, told the court that the FIA's investigation into the case is full of defects.

Tanoli observed that the FIA had not asked any of the suspects about when they were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
.

The FIA prosecutor argued that if there were discrepancies regarding the dates of the arrests of the suspects, the fault lies with the police, not the FIA.

Law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and used the loudspeaker of a local mosque to inform citizens that a search operation was being launched and urged any Lions of Islam to lay down their weapons in a peaceful manner.

A few villagers had come out of their homes and were being searched by the officials when all of a sudden some suspected gunnies shot up the coppers.

Radicalisation in jails is the gift that keeps on giving
2015-03-09
[DAWN] Jailbreaks are troubling enough, but truly disturbing are reports that indicate jail staff may have actually aided in the escape.

According to a report by BBC Urdu, which quotes a member of the team investigating the escape, the prisoners established contacts with the guards posted outside their cells, and in fact convinced them of the rightness of their cause, 'brainwashing' them in the words of the report. Beyond this, the bully boys' accomplices on the outside apparently established contacts with the jail staff, taking care of their 'needs'.

Unfortunately, none of this comes as a surprise. There have been many cases where both criminals and murderous Moslems have bribed or bullied jail staff into providing better facilities or even cellphones and such.

Nor is this the first time we have heard of those who murder in the name of religion in fact radicalising jail and police staff while being behind bars.

Soon after the arrest of Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of Salmaan Taseer, a mobile phone video emerged of Qadri happily reciting naats while in police custody. Even more shocking is that the coppers in fact take turns to sit next to him while he does so, and there is little doubt that they know they are being filmed.

In fact, it seems as if they want to be filmed sitting next to this man, whom a disturbing number of people consider to be some kind of holy warrior.

It should come as no surprise, then, that at least one such person was willing to not only listen to Qadri's warped views, but to also act on them. In October last year, a prison guard who had been deputed outside Qadri's cell for three weeks went and shot Muhammad Asghar, a mentally ill 70- year-old who had been sentenced to death in a blasphemy case. Luckily, Asghar survived and subsequent investigation revealed that the guard had in fact been taking 'religious lessons' from Mumtaz Qadri. He wasn't the only one to eagerly listen to Qadri's sermons either, and the initial inquiry also revealed that Qadri had 'prepared' two other guards to go and hunt down other persons accused of blasphemy.

All this took place in an atmosphere where Qadri was treated less like a criminal who had murdered a prominent politician, and more as a star, a sought-after preacher of the faith. In an AFP story in the aftermath of Asghar's shooting, other inmates complained that Qadri was given special treatment and was exempt from the routine work that they were made to do.

As for radicalisation in prisons, it's apparently the gift that keeps on giving. The same story also quotes a convicted murderer as saying that a prison guard had tried to persuade him to murder two persons accused of blasphemy who were in the same jail as him. The argument made was that this was the only way he could atone for his sins.

It is, of course, well known that prisons around the world do serve as finishing schools for criminals, providing an opportunity for inmates to network, recruit and exchange notes. In Pakistain, the problem is compounded because of the incarceration of snuffies along with the general jail population, and one shudders to think of the kind of seeds hardcore snuffies have planted there.

Certainly, we know that their message and rhetoric is convincing, as evidenced by the seemingly unending supply of killers they possess. Certainly it ties in with our general reluctance (fear?) to question any rhetoric that is couched in religiosity, no matter how nihilist or bloodthirsty it may be.

But philosophical debates aside, all this points to a serious problem that needs to be addressed. It seems daunting no doubt, as every time a hole is plugged one finds that there are at least a dozen more that demand attention. But such is the nature of the existential war Pakistain is fighting; it is one that demands constant adaptation, constant vigilance and zero tolerance.

Blasphemy case: Scot shot in Pakistan jail
2014-09-26
[BBC] A 70-year-old Scot sentenced to death in Pakistain over blasphemy charges is in hospital after being shot by a prison guard in jail.
Hoot mon!"
Muhammad "Jock" Asghar, who is from Edinburgh, was tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
in 2010 after writing letters to a number of people claiming to be a prophet.
"Aye, laddie! Many's the time he told me this would happen! 'Tis nae surprise!"
A court in Rawalpindi convicted him of blasphemy earlier this year.

The attack took place at 08:30 local time inside the Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, where he was being held.

A Rawalpindi police official told BBC Urdu's Shahzad Malik the gunman who shot the Scot is Mohammad Yousuf, a member of the Elite Force of police commandos.

He said Mr Yousuf walked into Mr Asghar's cell before shooting him.

Prison security, who ran to the scene when they heard the gunshots, were said to have overpowered and disarmed Mr Yousuf.

Mental illness
The extent of Mr Asghar's injuries remain unclear but officials and doctors say he is in a stable condition.

A doctor at the hospital where Mr Asghar was taken told AFP news agency he had "been shot from the back and the bullet has crossed his body affecting his ribs and lungs".

"He is out of danger now," he added.

Another report said at least one bullet had hit Mr Asghar in the arm.

His family and lawyers have said he has a history of mental illness and was sectioned under the mental health act in Edinburgh shortly before travelling to Pakistain.

British politicians and activists have been campaigning for his release, urging the Pak government to intervene in his case so he can be treated.

Solicitor Aamer Anwar called on UK Prime Minister David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. , for Mr Asghar's release.

Mr Anwar, who is acting on behalf of Mr Asghar's family, said: "It is unacceptable that this poor, old, seriously ill man is sat in a prison - presently in a hospital - and is facing death.

"He needs to come home to his family."

Adiala Jail is notorious for being overcrowded with poor conditions.

It is where Mumtaz Qadri, the "celebrated" police guard who killed Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in 2011 is also in jug. Qadri was sentenced to death after confessing to murdering Mr Taseer because he objected to his calls to amend a controversial blasphemy law.
