Allah Gul Mujahid Detained on Murder Charges
2024-05-13
Getting rid of those who supported the old government, one by one.
[TOLONEWS] The Kabul Security Command reported the arrest of Allah Gul Mujahid, a former parliament member of the previous government, on murder charges.

Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the command, said that Allah Gul Mujahid will remain in jug until the completion of the legal proceedings and a competent court's decision.

Zadran identified the victim as Saeedullah, who was killed in February this year.

The spokesperson of the Kabul Security Command said, "Allah Gul Mujahid is the suspect in the case of the late Qari Saeedullah, who was killed on February 28, 2024. The existing documents and the nature of the case proceedings require that his freedom be restricted. Therefore, it has been decided that he will remain in detention until the investigation is complete and a decision is made by a competent court."

Mohammad Asif Faqiri, a legal analyst, told TOLOnews, "The enforcement and implementation of the penal code on someone who was once a power executor is a manifestation of social justice. Social justice necessitates accountability."

Family members of Allah Gul Mujahid have not yet made any public comments.

Allah Gul Mujahid had also been previously detained shortly after the return of the Islamic Emirate to power but was later released and left the country.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
after mediation by the Commission for Contact with Afghan Figures, he returned to the country on June 25 last year.

Aziz Ma'arj, a political analyst, said, "It is true that the accused is considered innocent until a final court verdict is rendered; however, the accused is under detention to ensure the proceedings are conducted and to prevent escape from the law."

Allah Gul Mujahid served multiple terms as a representative of the people of Kabul in the House of Representatives of the former government.

Women Banned From Visiting Band-e-Amir National Park
2023-08-27
[ToloNews] Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, the acting Minister of Virtue and Vice, asked all religious holy mans and security agencies to forbid women from visiting Amir Band National Park at a meeting in Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
Hanafi said that the decision was taken because of women's non-observance of hijab and added that women should be prevented from entering this park until a procedure is prepared.

The acting Minister of Virtue and Vice stated that going on a trip is not obligatory.

"Women and our sisters cannot go to Band-e-Amir until we agree on a principle. The security agencies, elders and the inspectors should take action in this regard. Going for sightseeing is not obligatory," Hanafi said.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
religious holy mans in Bamiyan said that these women come to the park from outside Bamyian, and the government itself should do something about it.

"There are complaints about the lack of hijab or bad hijab, these are not Bamiyan residents. They come here from other places, from other provinces or outside of Afghanistan," said Sayed Nasrullah Waezi, head of the Bamiyan Shia Ulema Council.

"There are dozens like this in every province, which is why problems have arisen, the enemy of Islam has gained courage and is finally pointing to Mullah,(?)" said Mohammad Asif Burhan, a religious holy man in Bamiyan.

Band-e-Amir National Park is one of the tourist spots in Bamyian, which was introduced as the first national park in the country in 2009, and since then it attracts thousands of visitors each year.

[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Security forces in the Northern Province of Afghanistan, Balkh, killed six ISIS key fighters in a special operation late Monday.

Mohammad Asif Waziri, a spokesperson for Balkh provincial police, confirmed that in a special raid by the Taliban security forces, six key fighters of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems...
Khorasan were killed in Nahr-e-Shahi District of Balkh province on late Monday.

The operation occurred after one of the perpetrators was arrested on Sunday by the Taliban intelligence Department which was involved in several deadly attacks in the Balkh province, including the liquidation of Mohammad Dawood Muzamal, governor of the province.

The accused person allegedly said that he had contributed blast in the office of the Balkh governor, Tebyan Cultural Center and several others.

Earlier in March, the Taliban governor of Balkh, Mohammad Dawood Muzmal, was killed in the blast with two of his aide. Two days after the Balkh governor blast, a journalists’ gathering was targeted in Tebyan Cultural Center, leaving at least three people dead and more than 30 others injured.

ISIS, or the group also known as Islamic State-Khorasan, grabbed credit for both incidents.

Since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, ISIS faceless myrmidons have been considered the main security challenges for the de facto government amid an economic and humanitarian crisis.

2023-03-31
[ToloNews] Local officials said that a campaign to destroy poppy fields has started in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
that will be conducted in each village in the province by Islamic Emirate forces.

The campaign begins at a time when poppy fields’ harvest season is approaching.

"Our operation is underway and hundreds of acres of land have been cleared of poppy in different districts," said Hayatullah Rouhani, head of the counter narcotics department of Herat.

Special Forces accompany the employees of the counter-narcotics office to ensure the security of the campaign to destroy poppy fields, officials said.

"We will accompany the employees of the counter-narcotics department in Herat province," said Mohammad Asif Mohammadi, head of the special force of the counter-narcotics office.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats Chumbaloni was staring into a hole that was just .45 inch in diameter and was less than three feet from his heavily sweating face ...
farmers called on the government to help them by providing alternative crops for poppy cultivation.

"We asked the government to help us with alternative crops for poppy," said Ghulam Mohammad, a farmer.

Besides Herat, the campaign is being conducted in Ghor, Badghis, Nimroz and Farah provinces. It is expected that poppy fields in the west of the country will be destroyed ahead of the harvest season.

Bomb attack kills guard, wounds journalists in Afghan north; 1-3 toes up, 8-30 maimed
2023-03-12
Fog of war. Hopefully better numbers will be revealed lated.
[GEO.TV] A kaboom in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif on Saturday killed a security guard and maimed a group of journalists, as well as several children, police and a witness said.

The blast came two days after a jacket wallah killed the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
governor of the northern Balkh province in an attack claimed by ISIS.

The attack on Mohammad Dawood Muzammil in the Balkh historic provincial capital Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday marked the killing of one of the highest-ranking officials since the Taliban stormed back to power in 2021.

Saturday's blast took place during an event honouring Afghanistan's media at a cultural centre in Mazar-e-Sharif. Police said a security guard was killed and that five journalists were among the maimed.

"I heard a big bang... then there was chaos as everyone was trying to find a way to escape," Afghan journalist Atif Arian, who was maimed in the blast, told AFP.

"Some journalists are seriously maimed."

Balkh police front man Mohammad Asif Waziri said three children were also among the maimed.

Arian said the earth-shattering kaboom happened when a group of children were singing an anthem, minutes after a Taliban official had delivered a speech.

Afghan journalists were regularly targeted before the Taliban reclaimed power, with several attacks claimed by ISIS.

"Targeting journalists during an event to honour news hounds is a despicable and cowardly act," said Beh Lih Yi, Asia programme director at the Committee to Protect Journalists.

"The Taliban must investigate quickly, bring the perpetrators to justice, and end impunity for those who target journalists."

No group has so far claimed the attack.

Violence across Afghanistan has fallen since the Taliban seized control but security has tanked again, with the ISIS claiming several deadly attacks.

Muzammil, the Balkh governor, was killed by a suicide bomber minutes after he arrived at his office in Mazar-e-Sharif.

The group has emerged as the biggest security challenge to the Taliban government since last year, carrying out attacks against Afghan civilians as well as foreigners and foreign interests.
Tolo News adds:
At least one person was killed and eight others were maimed in a blast on Saturday that occurred at the Tabyan Cultural Center in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province.

Five journalists and three children were among the maimed.

The explosion occurred in Tabyan Cultural Center, where journalists were supposed to be honored in a meeting.

A TOLOnews news hound in Mazar-e-Sharif said that a number of news hounds, religious holy mans, and local officials participated in the conference.

"This morning, around 11:00am in PD 2 of Mazar-e-Sharif at the Tabyan Cultural Center, which belongs to Shia brothers,
Shia? Probably an ISIS-K project, then. They like killing them some Shiites...
a blast happened. Unfortunately, five journalists and three children were maimed. The condition of the maimed is satisfactory," said Mohammad Asif Waziri, a front man for the Balkh security department.

A TOLOnews news hound was injured at the event.
And from Khaama Press:
Afghan News Agency (AVA) belongs to the Tebyan centre.

According to the cultural centre connected to Iran’s Islamic government, "three people were killed and 30 others, including a significant number of journalists, were maimed in this incident."

Balkh Governor Killed in Blast
2023-03-10
[ToloNews] The governor of Balkh, Mohammad Dawood Muzamil, was killed in a blast that took place inside his office, a front man for the Balkh security department said.

Balkh’s Security Department’s front man, Mohammad Asif Waziri, confirmed the killing of the provincial governor.

"Today around 9:00 am, an individual who was armed with explosives went kaboom! by the governor of Balkh, Mohamma Dawood Muzamil, from which unfortunately, the governor of Balkh, Mohammad Dawood Muzamil was martyred alongside two civilians. Also, four other people, including three military members and one civilian, were maimed," he said.

Islamic Emirate front man Zabiullah Mujahid also on Twitter expressed sorrow over the killing of the provincial governor.

A statement of the department of security of Balkh said that an individual wearing a boom jacket went kaboom! near the second floor near the office of the provincial governor.

The witnesses said said the blast occurred inside the provincial governor’s office.

"I had work issue for the Haj process in the governor’s office. I don’t know what happened," said a maimed person.

"Two people came and opened the door for him (suicide kaboomer) and then closed the door. I started walking downstairs and while I walked a bit, the blast happened among the people," a maimed person said.

"Security officials should pay attention to this issue because the new year is coming and Ramadan around the corner," said Sifatullah, son of one of the maimed.

ISIS grabbed credit for the attack.
Dawn adds:
“Two people, including Mohammad Dawood Muzammil, the governor of Balkh, have been killed in an explosion this morning,” local police spokesman Asif Waziri told AFP, adding that the blast happened on the second floor of his office, in the provincial capital Mazar-i-Sharif.

Muzammil is one of the highest-ranking Taliban officials to be killed in such circumstances since the group returned to power in August 2021.

He was initially appointed as the governor of the eastern province of Nangarhar where he led the fight against Islamic State militants, before being moved to Balkh last year.

The Azadi Briefing: Taliban Divisions Come Out Into The Open
2023-02-18
[RFE/RL] THE KEY ISSUE
Key Taliban
...Arabic for students...
officials have recently appeared to criticize the murderous Moslem group's supreme leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada
...Former deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour, now The Big Man Himself...
, whose repressive policies have alienated Afghans and isolated the Taliban's unrecognized government internationally.

Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, the Taliban's powerful interior minister, gave a speech on February 11 in which he appeared to accuse Akhundzada of "monopolizing power" and "hurting the reputation" of the murderous Moslem group.

Another influential Taliban official, Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, said in a February 15 speech in Kabul that the murderous Moslem group "should never be arrogant" and must "always respond to the legitimate demands of the nation."

Taliban front man Zabiullah Mujahid told RFE/RL's Radio Azadi on February 16 that "all members share the same thoughts, beliefs, and ideology," adding that Haqqani and Yaqoob were merely making suggestions.

Why It's Important: Haqqani and Yaqoob's public comments appear to have lifted the lid on the widening rifts within the Taliban, which has come under national and international condemnation for its severe restrictions on women's rights and human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
abuses.

As the Taliban has attempted to transform from an insurgency into a functional government after seizing power in 2021, there have been mounting reports of infighting.

Akhundzada, who rarely travels outside his stronghold in the southern province of Kandahar, has consolidated power and empowered ultraconservative holy mans who share his turban views.

What's Next: It is unclear yet if growing internal and foreign criticism will force Akhundzada to moderate his policies.

Experts do not expect internal differences to lead to an open revolt. But the infighting suggests that a growing number of Taliban officials believe change is necessary.

THE WEEK'S BEST STORIES
  • A devastating humanitarian and economic crisis has forced some Afghans to turn to the booming methamphetamine industry to eke out a living and stave off starvation. Thousands of people are believed to be earning money by collecting ephedra, a wild herb that is used to make crystal meth. "For now, it is our only source of income," harvester Ahmad Wali told Radio Azadi. "We collect it from the mountains and sell it in the city."

  • After 30 years in business, Gul Rahman says he may have to close his Kabul butcher's shop. The economic collapse since the Taliban regained control in Afghanistan has seen demand for meat plummet. "I can say many people can't afford to buy meat once a month," Rahman told Radio Azadi in this video. "People have a lot of troubles. If it goes on like this, I guess I will leave this occupation because there's no business."

WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
Taliban fighters stormed the offices of the private Tamadon TV station in Kabul on February 14, a witness told Radio Azadi on condition of anonymity.

The gunnies, who identified themselves as Taliban Interior Ministry personnel, seized three vehicles belonging to the TV station. It was unclear if any staff members were detained.

A front man for the Taliban later said that "our forces entered the television [station] by mistake." The Afghanistan Journalists Center, a local watchdog, accused the Taliban of "intimidation."

Broadcasting mainly religious content, Tamadon TV was established by Ayatollah Mohammad Asif Mohseni, a prominent Afghan Shi'ite holy man who died in 2019.
I thought it was important because they were going after a television station, not realizing it was Shiite.
Why It's Important: In the past, Afghanistan's Sunni Taliban rulers have suppressed the country's Shi'ite Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
minority.

Since regaining power, the Taliban has tried to assuage Hazara fears of discrimination and persecution. But rights groups have documented the extrajudicial killings and forced evictions of Hazara by the Taliban in parts of the country.

The raid on Tamadon TV is also the latest attempt by the Taliban to suppress media freedom in Afghanistan. The murderous Moslems have waged a brutal crackdown on dissent that has targeted journalists, human rights defenders, and intellectuals.

The Afghanistan Journalists Center said it recorded 260 cases of press-freedom violations in 2022, including "detentions, threats, assaults, and restrictions on media outlets, journalists, and in particular women journalists."

2022-12-08
[DAILYTIMES.PK] At least seven people were killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday when a blast hit a vehicle carrying oil workers in the northern province of Balkh, while another blast in the eastern city of Jalalabad injured six people.

"Today at around 7am a blast took place in... Balkh on a bus which belonged to Hairatan oil employees," said Mohammad Asif Wazeri, police spokesperson for the northern province.

At least six people were maimed, he said.

Balkh province is home to one of Afghanistan’s main dry ports in the town of Hairatan, near the border with Uzbekistan, which has rail and road links to Central Asia.

Wazeri said Balkh police were searching for a culprit behind the earth-shattering kaboom on the vehicle. It was not clear who the employees on the bus worked for.

Another blast later in the day near the money exchange market in Jalalabad injured six people, according to police in Nangahar province.

Mohammad Asif Waziri, a spokesman for the security department of Balkh, said that an explosion targeting a car carrying employees of the Department of Mines and Petroleum occurred in PD3 of Mazar-e-Sharif, leaving seven people dead and six wounded.

According to Waziri, the explosion was a roadside bomb.

“A blast occurred in PD3 of Mazar city. Unfortunately, the explosion hit a car carrying (Mines and Petroleum) Department employees while they were going to their jobs. Balkh Residents Criticize Lack of Uniforms for Security Forces
2022-11-23
[ToloNews] Mazar-e-Sharif residents expressed concerns about Islamic Emirate’s security forces members not wearing uniforms, saying that civilians have a problem distinguishing security forces from criminal imposters.

They asked the Islamic Emirate to distribute uniforms for security forces immediately in the province.

"Security forces must have a uniform so we can distinguish them from others," said Mer Abas, a Mazar-e-Sharif resident.

"Distinctive uniforms are needed to distinguish thieves from other people," said Mohammad Tayeb, a Mazar-e-Sharif resident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the railroad tracks, Little Nell tried to kick her bound feet and scream post the snotty handkerchief Scarface Al had stuff into her mouth...
security officials in Balkh said that they will distribute uniforms to their security forces soon.

"In one week we will distribute uniforms for our security forces ... Insha Allah," said Mohammad Asif Waziri, front man for the Balkh police commander.

Residents said that recently crime has increased in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.

Taliban Member Kills Young Girl for Rejecting Marriage Proposal
2022-11-09
[KhaamaPress] Local sources in Balkh province in northern Afghanistan said that the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
security head for the province’s Sholgara district killed a maiden of tender years named Maryam after she rejected his marriage proposal.

The Taliban administration’s head of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in the Sholgara district of Balkh province, Mullah Yasin, killed a girl because she refused to marry him, the source said.

Taliban government officials in the Balkh province, who also acknowledged the occurrence of the incident, claim that Mullah Yasin was detained and assured that he is in jug.

According to Mohammad Asif Waziri, the spokesperson for the Taliban chief of police in the province of Balkh, Maryam was the victim of a single murder by a department employee.

Among the topics that create headlines in the media are sexual corruption and scandals involving the Taliban and the insatiable yearning for marriage.

The Taliban leader had previously told his people to decide on a path of action, think about their responsibilities, and refrain from having more than one wife.

This occurs at a time when Taliban commanders are reported to have paid sizable dowries to their fathers-in-laws in return for the hands of their daughters, and a Taliban commander recently transported his newlywed bride home on a military chopper belonging to the Afghan National Army.

Taliban Arrests Married Couple After a Year of Eloping
2022-09-29
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
arrested a married couple — a man who eloped with a betrothed woman with her consent a year ago — said the Taliban security officials in the northern Afghan province of Balkh.

The man and woman in question were arrested on Tuesday, the 27th of September, in the Dihdadi area of Balkh province on accusations of fleeing their home, according to Mohammad Asif Waziri, the spokesperson for the Taliban Balkh Police.

The Taliban front man said that the man, Jawid, eloped with an engaged girl, Dilbar, who goes by the name of Fatima, from her uncle’s house around one and a half years ago.

According to the Taliban official, the girl is from the Baba Kohna region of Dihdadi district of Balkh province in the north of Afghanistan.

The woman was allegedly engaged to another man against her will, while according to Taliban official, Waziri, she bravely ran away from home on her own accord.

The Taliban police in Balkh province said that the elopement case of the young couple has been sent to the relevant judicial organs for further action.

Human Rights Watch reports show that up to 70% of incidents of "running away" from home are connected to escaping forced marriage or domestic violence, which Afghan women have been subjected to both.

Following the Taliban’s return to Afghanistan, several draconian decrees are made that severely restrict women’s rights, notably their freedom of movement as they are not allowed to travel without a male escort, or mahram.

No Casualties Left After Grenade Explosion in Northern Afghanistan
2022-09-13
[KhaamaPress] A grenade in Balkh province, in northern Afghanistan, thrown out of a car due to the carelessness of the driver reportedly belonging to the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s 209th al-Fath Corps, went kaboom! leaving no casualties, said local Taliban officials.

The hand bomb explosion, which occurred on Sunday at around 7:40 p.m. in Mazar-e-Sharif’s police district 4, occurred near Darwaza-e-Balkh according to the Taliban security officials.

According to the Taliban’s Balkh province police chief, the earth-shattering kaboom was triggered by a grenade that went kaboom! in an open area without injuring anyone.

The Taliban official Mohammad Asif Waziri, the chief of police for the Taliban police in Balkh, said that the hand grenade was thrown out of a car, and he blamed the driver’s carelessness for the earth-shattering kaboom.

According to the Taliban security official, two people in connection with the grenade explosion have been taken into police custody for further investigations.

The perpetrators of this incident, according to reports, were Taliban members working with the 209th al-Fath Corps who were detained by security officers from Mazar-e-Sharif’s police district 4.

Earlier last week, a grenade belonging to the Taliban members in the northern Afghan province "accidentally" went kaboom! killing one person and injuring 4 others including women and kiddies.

The Taliban members were reportedly riding a cycle of violence when the grenade pin mistakenly came out, leading them to throw the grenade, which resulted in fatality and injuries.

This occurs at a time when the people of Afghanistan are battling with and dying as a result of natural disasters, including earthquakes and flash floods brought on by severe rains, as well as increased crime rates, traffic accidents, and, to top it all off, the negligence of Taliban members.
