Herzog says Saudi normalization would be a win over Hamas, pushes back on Qatari PM’s hostage remark
2024-02-20
From three days ago.
[IsraelTimes] President Isaac Herzog calls for Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to normalize ties with his country as that would be a win against Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
Herzog tells the Munich Security Conference that one of the aims of Hamas when it attacked Israel on October 7 was to disrupt talks to establish ties with Riyadh.

"That is why moving on with Saudi Arabia will clearly be a victory over what Hamas did," he argues. "And that is why I truly believe that moving forward to normalization and making whatever efforts that can be made is a very important, historical opportunity."

Herzog confirms meeting yesterday with Qatar

i Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, who he says is making "major efforts" toward the return of the hostages.

"It’s complicated, it’s difficult. One has to make sure that we know whether there is anybody who makes decisions on the other side," Herzog says. "After all, you’re dealing with people who are being hidden and scattered all around Gazoo

, mostly in the tunnels and we have to know their whereabouts. We are worried about the medication that came in and according to our data and information, it hasn’t been received yet — or by some of them, but most of them we don’t know."

He then appears to reject the Qatari premier’s comment that ending the Israel-Hamas war shouldn’t be conditioned on a hostage agreement.

"If one wants to move on and find a horizon and end this dire situation, which was initiated by Hamas in cruelty of unprecedented record... one has to resolve the issue of the hostages and bring them back home safely and as soon as possible," the president says.

The president also reveals Israeli forces operating in Gaza found a book titled "The End of the Jews" that was written by Mahmoud al-Zahar, a cofounder of the Hamas terror group.

"This book first of all says we should not recognize the fact that there are Jews and Jewish people, but most predominantly it hails the Holocaust. It hails what the Nazis have done, and calls for nations to follow what the Nazis have done," Herzog says, noting Munich’s proximity to the Dachau concentration camp.

Hamas source denies co-founder Mahmoud al-Zahar quitting group’s leadership

Bummer. But now we know, should we come across that rumour elsewhere.

Strip was misinformation circulated by rivals.

The unnamed source spoke to the SHMS news agency after reports said al-Zahar had stepped down.

The source said al-Zahar was still "performing his duties" at the political office and "has not submitted his regulation as some claim."

"Those who are behind this news are hostile parties, seeking to get rid of al-Zahar," the source said, urging media outlets to only trust information from official sources and "not be dragged along by rumors."

According to reports, al-Zahar filed a letter in which he cited "special and personal reasons" for quitting.

On Monday, al-Zahar spoke at an event to mark the anniversary of Israel’s unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in August 2005. Two years after Israel left, Hamas seized control of the territory from the Paleostinian Authority.

The politician, 77, was born in Gaza City in 1945. He played a key role in setting up Hamas in 1987 and was briefly detained by Israel in 1988. In 1992 he was exiled by Israel to Lebanon Hezbollahstan

Israel bombed his Gaza home in 2003, killing his eldest son, Khaled, but only lightly injuring al-Zahar. Another son, Hussam, a member of the Hamas military wing, was killed in a 2008 Israeli strike on Hamas operatives. al-Zahar has two daughters as well.

In 2006 al-Zahar was elected as a Hamas representative in the Paleostinian Legislative Council, where he has remained ever since. He was foreign minister from 2006 to 2007.

Last year al-Zahar told Britannia’s Sky News that Israel has no right to exist, and said the terror group’s strategy was to target Israeli population centers with rocket fire from Gaza. The interview came after a ceasefire that ended 11 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas.

At founding anniversary rally, Hamas says won’t relinquish ‘an inch’ of sought land
2021-12-12
[IsraelTimes] At a massive rally Friday celebrating the 34th anniversary of Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,’s founding, co-founder of the terror group Mahmoud al-Zahar said Paleostinians will not relinquish "an inch" of the land they view as theirs.

"The participation of thousands in these marches commemorating the launch anniversary [of Hamas] confirms that the Paleostinian individual cannot give up his right, and refuses to forfeit not an inch of his land," al-Zahar said, according to Paleostinian media reports.

Hamas does not recognize Israel and often declares its intention of setting up a state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean, eradicating Israel.

The anniversary comes as amid a string of recent Paleostinian terror attacks, with four taking place in Jerusalem alone, including a deadly shooting committed by a member of Hamas.

Fatah trying to drag Gaza into new war with Israel: Warty Nose
2019-01-18
[PRESSTV] A high-ranking leader of the Paleostinian Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, resistance movement has accused the West Bank-based Fatah movement of attempts to provoke the Israeli army to launch a new military campaign against the impoverished Gazoo Strip.

"Fatah-affiliated people are trying to force the Gazoo Strip into a fresh battle with Israel by launching rockets during this sensitive time," Mahmoud al-Zahar said in an exclusive interview with Arabic-language Paleostine Today television network.

Zahar added, "Some of these people are linked to Israel and are commissioned to get on with the task. These people are well-known to us. Fatah stands behind them. We have talked with their field leaders about their dangerous acts. Sometimes, they are locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
The Hamas leader noted that Gazoo-based resistance movements are closely monitoring Israel’s acts of aggression against the coastal enclave, stressing that they would never wait too long to respond to such moves.

Zahar's remarks came after Hamas front man Fawzi Barhoum warned in a statement on Sunday that the movement "will intensify the confrontation with Israel" in the coastal sliver if the Israeli military launches new attacks against the enclave.

Great March of Return protests to continue until end of Gaza siege: Hamas
2018-12-24
A couple of centuries, then? Ok.
[PRESSTV] A bigwig of the Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, says Paleostinians will continue the Great March of Return rallies until the end of the Israeli siege on the Gazoo Strip.

Mahmoud al-Zahar
"'Ol Warty Nose"
a co-founder of Hamas and a member of its leadership in the Gazoo Strip, made the remarks in a Sunday interview with Iran’s al-Alam News Network in Tehran.

He said the anti-occupation rallies, known as the "Great March of Return," have produced important results, and will not be stopped before the Israeli regime’s siege on the enclave is lifted.

Tensions have been running high near the fence separating Gazoo from the occupied territories since March 30, which marked the start of the protests.

Paleostinian protesters demand the right to return for those driven out of their homeland.

The festivities in Gazoo reached their peak on May 14, the eve of the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day, or the Day of Catastrophe, which coincided this year with Washington's relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.

More than 220 Paleostinians have so far been killed and over 20,000 others maimed in the renewed Gazoo festivities, according to the latest figures released by the Gazoo Health Ministry.

Gazoo has been under Israeli siege since June 2007, causing a decline in living standards as well as unprecedented unemployment and poverty.

Defense minister orders IDF on high alert at Gazoo border
2018-10-05
[IsraelTimes] Liberman says troops ready to confront ’any scenario’ after army bolsters forces around security fence
I don’t know whether to hope things calm down, or if it would be better for Gaza to explode and be pounded to rubble again, so I’m very glad it isn’t my decision.
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Thursday said the Israel Defense Forces was on high alert on the Gazoo border, following weeks of nightly riots along the security fence.

"Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman held an assessment session this afternoon on the situation in the Gazoo Strip, together with the chief of staff, head of military intelligence, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), and other security officials," a statement from his office said.

Liberman instructed the IDF to maintain "maximum preparedness for any scenario," according to his office.

Earlier in the day, the army announced it had decided to deploy additional troops to the Gazoo Strip area.

"It was decided to send large numbers of reinforcements in the coming days to the Southern Command and to continue the determined policy of thwarting terror attacks and preventing infiltrations into Israel from the Gazoo Strip security fence," the army said in a statement.

The army also set up additional Iron Dome air defense batteries in southern Israel as part of the move.

Border riots, dubbed the "Great March of Return," have increased dramatically in recent weeks. These began as weekly events from late March through the summer, but appeared to slow as the Gazoo-ruling Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group entered indirect talks with Israel aimed at a ceasefire.

When those talks stalled, Hamas increased the pace of rioting and demonstrations against Israel, and created new units tasked with sustaining tensions along the border fence including during nighttime and early morning hours.

In an interview with the Yedioth Ahronoth daily published Thursday, the leader of the Hamas terror group in Gazoo, Yahya Sinwar, said he didn’t want any more wars but said an "eruption is inevitable" given the current humanitarian conditions in the Strip ‐ conditions that Israel and some others in the world blame explicitly on Hamas’s poor governance of the coastal enclave.

British publication The Telegraph reported Wednesday that in a recent five-hour briefing to Paleostinian news hounds, Sinwar laid down his new strategy which states that if Israel lifts the Gazoo blockade, Hamas and the other Paleostinian factions would ensure all rocket launches and other attacks against Israel are stopped.

The Hamas leader reportedly said he is confident that an agreement with Israel can be reached by mid-October, but threatened to cause "chaos" with mass border demonstrations if there is no deal.

A senior Hamas official on Sunday accused Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
of fomenting violence in the region and pushing Israel toward a new war in the Gazoo Strip.

"Abbas wants to control everything in Gazoo; war is good for him," Mahmoud al-Zahar, a big shot in the Gazoo Strip, told Arab media. al-Zahar was in Cairo as part of a large delegation from Gazoo taking part in talks to reach a Paleostinian reconciliation deal and a possible long-term truce with Israel.

At least 140 Paleostinians were killed during the protests since late March, according to AP figures. Hamas has acknowledged that dozens of the fatalities were its members.

On Friday, the Haaretz daily quoted Israeli security sources as saying that Hamas is preparing for war, bolstering its forces significantly over the past few weeks.

That assessment is not new, IDF sources told Haaretz, having warned repeatedly that the situation is more likely to escalate than to calm down. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
recently the army noted that the terror group appears to actively be readying itself for a limited conflict with Israel. It is only a question of when Hamas will decide to go to war, the paper said.

PA reportedly arrests dozens of Hamas members in the West Bank
2018-09-28
[IsraelTimes] Raids come a day after official PA news outlet reported that Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run security forces summoned dozens of Fatah members in Gazoo and locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!

The Paleostinian Authority security forces arrested dozens of Hamas members in the West Bank early Thursday morning, the Hamas-linked al-Risalah reported, citing sources in the terror group.

The reported arrests come a day after the official PA news site Wafa reported the Hamas-run security forces summoned dozens of Fatah members in the Gazoo Strip and arrested several others, including the son of a Fatah Central Committee member.

The PA dominates urban centers in the West Bank, whereas Hamas controls controls Gazoo.

Wafa also reported the Hamas-run security forces threatened print shop owners with "arrests and beatings" if they printed materials in support of PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

General Assembly on Thursday.

Fatah, the PA, and the Paleostine Liberation Organization have been organizing events in support of Abbas and his upcoming speech.

Hamas front man Sami Abu Zuhri
...a senior spokesman for Hamas. Zuhri gained notoriety in 2006 when he dropped his money belt containing somewhere between 640,000 and 900,000 euros, which was confiscated by Paleostinian security and customs officials at a routine border crossing from Egypt to Gaza. The news brought competing Hamas and Fatah forces to the crossing checkpoint for an epic face-making and hollering contest...
lashed out at the PA security forces following the report about the West Bank arrests.

"The Abbas security forces’ arrests of dozens of Hamas members in the West Bank represents a dangerous escalation," Abu Zuhri tweeted Thursday morning.

Since Hamas forcibly took over Gazoo in 2007, the PA has cracked down on its activities in the West Bank and frequently arrests its members.

In the same period of time, Hamas has heavily limited Fatah’s activities in Gazoo.

The reported arrests also come as reconciliation efforts between Hamas and Fatah appear to be at a standstill.

In October 2017, the two rival parties agreed to an Egyptian-brokered deal to advance reconciliation efforts, which sought to bring the West Bank and Gazoo under one government. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
Hamas and Fatah failed to implement the agreement.

For more than the past year, Abbas has cut some PA budgets allocated to Gazoo.

More recently, however, Abbas has suggested he will cut all funding allocated to Gazoo if Hamas does not hand over full control of the coastal territory to the PA.

The PA sends $96 million to Gazoo monthly, according to Fatah Central Committee member Hussein al-Sheikh.

Hamas leaders have slammed Abbas for cutting funding to the Gazoo Strip.

On Wednesday, Mahmoud al-Zahar, a member of the Hamas Politburo, told Dunya al-Watan, a Gazoo-based news outlet, that Abbas "must be put on trial" for cutting budgets to the Strip.

Hamas co-founder admits ‘we are deceiving the public’ about peaceful protests
2018-05-17
Shhhhh! It’s a secret!
[IsraelTimes] Mahmoud al-Zahar says Gazoo border demonstrations are 'peaceful resistance bolstered by a military force and by security agencies'

A Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", leader said in an interview that the terror group was "deceiving the public" when it spoke of "peaceful resistance" a day before 60 people were killed in violent protests on the Gazoo border, according to a translation released by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) Wednesday.

Speaking to Qatar

’s Al Jazeera network on Sunday, Mahmoud al-Zahar, the co-founder of Hamas and a senior member of the terror group’s leadership, said that his group was using "clear terminological deception."

He was asked why Hamas and the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
’s Fatah party, which dominates the Paleostinian Authority, could not agree on a united platform since "Hamas is employing the same peaceful resistance that has been advocated by Fatah since day one and for many years."

In reply al-Zahar said, "This is a clear terminological deception."

"This is not peaceful resistance. Has the option (of armed struggle) diminished? No. On the contrary, it is growing and developing. That’s clear," he said. "So when we talk about ’peaceful resistance,’ we are deceiving the public. This is a peaceful resistance bolstered by a military force and by security agencies, and enjoying tremendous popular support."

Al-Zahar also boasted in the interview of Hamas’s weaponry and military capabilities.

"When you are in possession of weapons that were able to withstand the occupation [Israel] in the wars of 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014... When you have weapons that are being wielded by men who were able to prevent the strongest army in the region from entering the Gazoo Strip for 51 days, and were able to capture or kill soldiers of that army ‐ is this really ’peaceful resistance’?" he asked.

The Hamas leader also slammed Fatah for what he indicated he considered to be its genuine peaceful resistance, claiming this was not what the Paleostinians wanted.

"As for (Fatah’s) ’peaceful resistance,’ it consists of rallies, demonstrations, protests, pleas and requests in order to improve the terms of the negotiations, or to enable talks with the Israeli enemy," he said. "This deception does not fool the Paleostinian public."

Senior Hamas leader: Quran tells us to drive Jews out of Palestine’s entirety
2017-03-17
[IsraelTimes] Zahar’s comments come after recent reports that the group plans to amend charter to endorse a state of Paleostine along pre-1967 lines.

A bigwig in the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group called for removing Jews from the entirety of historic Paleostine.

According to a translation provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Mahmoud al-Zahar told Hamas’s al-Aqsa TV last week that "removing the Jews from the land they occupied in 1948 is an immutable principle because it appears in the Book of Allah."

He said Allah, in the Koran, states, "And drive them out from wherever they have driven you out" and that this means removing the Jews from the 1948 borders.

Zahar went on to advise, "Never use the term 1967 (borders)."

"We have liberated Gazoo, part of Paleostine, but I am not prepared to accept just Gazoo," he said.

"Our position is: Paleostine in its entirety, and not a grain of soil less," added Zahar, a former Hamas foreign minister. "Allah did not define the 1967 borders or the 1948 borders. We will fight them wherever we can -- on the ground, underground, and if we have airplanes, we will fight them from the skies."

The speech came in the wake of recent reports that Hamas is planning to endorse a state of Paleostine along the 1967 borders -- a move that would be a major shift from the group’s long-held policy of reclaiming all of the land between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea -- though it won’t recognize Israel’s legitimacy.

The new policy will be announced in amendments to Hamas’s charter that is to be published in April, after the group’s political bureau completes its internal elections, the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat reported on March 7.

The new policy is being crafted in order to engage regional and international partners, such as Egypt, the report said.

While Hamas leaders in the past have at times expressed to English-language news outlets they would accept a Paleostinian state along the pre-1967 lines, the group’s official spokespeople and media frequently continue to promise to liberate what is the entire State of Israel.

Hamas Expresses Concern over Ties with Iran
2016-08-18
And so they should. They're selling their Arab souls to the Iranian Shiite devil for a mere 30 pieces of silver. It's a betrayal of all the truly awful things the Muslim Brotherhood stands for.
[Asharq al-Aswat] Commander of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,’ West Bank Department Saleh al-Arouri has expressed deep concern over the high cost that the movement might pay to Iran in return for the military and financial support received by Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, sources affiliated with Islamic movement in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
said.

Arouri, who resides in Turkey, accused Commander of Iran’s Quds Force Qassem Soleimani of attempting to "lure Hamas by blurring the identity of the Qassam Brigades and integrate it with Quds Force to become an Iranian executive tool."

Arouri said in a closed session that Soleimani wants Hamas’ full loyalty similar to the Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
movement, which announced its allegiance to Iran during a visit to Tehran by a delegation headed by its Secretary General Ramadan Shalah.

Arouri expressed fear that Hamas would be blacklisted by Arabs and the West due to its armed wing’s loyalty to Iran. He also feared that relations between al-Qassam and Iranian Revolutionary Guards might be similar to ties that exist between the Lebanese so-called Hezbollah and Iran.

His statements came amid disputes inside Hamas movement on relations with different axes in the region.

One faction in Hamas supports restoring relations with Iran at the expense of other Arab countries, while another faction rejects repairing ties.

Among those supporting the restoration of relations with Iran is Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar, who has very close ties to al-Qassam Brigades.

In the closed session, Arouri talked about Hamas’ participation in municipal elections, and expressed support to Zahar’s statements regarding not letting the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
return to the Gazoo Strip.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
Arouri criticized Zahar’s announcements, especially that the latter expressed his stance during interviews with Iranian media, such as Fares News Agency.

Arouri said Zahar’s remarks won’t benefit Hamas, which will appear to be disregarding the Cairo and Doha agreement.

Hamas to West Bank members: Commit suicide attacks
2015-10-20
[Ynet] Gazoo-based terror organization attempts to further escalate friction by urging turbans to bomb Israelis; Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, squad recently tossed in the clink
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
in Hebron in possession of cash and explosives.

Hamas has instructed its members and affiliates in the Fatah-controlled West Bank to perform suicide kabooms against Israelis in the West Bank and Jerusalem, Israeli officials told Ynet on Monday.

The instructions were given to Hamas holy warriors, mostly in the Hebron and Nablus areas, who can more easily reach Jerusalem. It is believed that Hamas will indeed attempt such attacks if they become operationally feasible.

In addition, a Paleostinian security official told Ynet that the Paleostinian security forces have recently arrested a Hamas squad in Hebron, finding money and explosives in their possession. The official also noted that the squad had at least six members, who admitted that they wished to die when interrogated. It was not immediately clear if they planned on performing a suicide terror attack.

Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar said on Sunday that it was necessary to turn the current popular intifada into an armed one. According to al-Zahar, Israeli society is generally armed -- from soldiers to coppers and settlers -- and so the intifada must become armed as well.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saw mill, Scarface Al had tied Little Nell to the log and was about to turn on the buzz saw...
Hamas media outlets have started to call for the replacement of stabbing attacks with vehicular terror attacks.

Fatah leader Jibril Rajoub has called recent lone-wolf attacks heroic. "I am proud of them and congratulate anyone who committed them," he said in an interview to Paleostinian television. He added that Paleostinian organizations have the ability to perform larger attacks, but that the world does not accept buses exploding in Tel Aviv, and so it's better to avoid them.
A wise decision.

Son of former Hamas military chief arrested in Fatah sweep
2015-01-07
[IsraelTimes] Dozens held in West Bank as part of ongoing crackdown; Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, arrests Fatah members in Gazoo in tit-for-tat measure
Did Israel pass on another warning of another Hamas plot against the PA?
The Paleostinian Authority has placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
dozens of Hamas members in the West Bank in the past two weeks, including the son of a top bombmaker killed by Israel, Paleostinian sources said Tuesday.

The sweeps are part of an ongoing crackdown on the group and other Islamists since the end of Israel?s war with Hamas-led fighters over the summer, while Hamas forces have made arrest raids on Fatah members in the Strip, in a sign of faltering unification efforts despite a pact signed between the rival groups last year.
Faltering is certainly one way to describe it. I would have gone with entirely sham, myself.
One of the Hamas members pulled in was named as the son of Yahya Ayyash, a master bombmaker known as ?The Engineer? who led the organization?s military wing until his liquidation in 1996.

Baraa Ayyash was arrested in Nablus three days ago by members of the Paleostinian Preventative Security apparatus.

In a similar manner Hamas security forces in the Gazoo Strip have, over the past two weeks, arrested dozens of activists from Fatah, the political party of Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar condemned the arrest of Baraa Ayyash and said that Abbas was responsible for what he termed a criminal act.

?It is historical Dire Revenge on the martyr,? Zahar wrote on his Facebook page.

Yesterday marked exactly 19 years since Baraa?s father was killed by Israel.

Ayyash, from Kfar Rafat in the northern West Bank, was killed by a booby-trapped exploding cellphone that delivered to him by the Israeli Shin Bet security service while he was in Gazoo.

He was considered responsible for designing the bombs used in a number of deadly suicide kabooms against Israel.
