Afghanistan
'The people who control the country.' How Afghanistan has changed under the Taliban

Russia is determined to normalize relations, and will say anything to do so. Count up the fictions as you read, dearReader.
[REGNUM] The problems of Afghanistan are known, but the real power there lies with the Taliban movement and this cannot be ignored, Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the press following his visit to Uzbekistan on May 28.

“There are problems in Afghanistan, they are undeniable, everyone is well aware of them. The question of how to build relationships with the current government is another question. But we have to build it somehow, these are the people who control the country, control the territory of the country. They are the power in Afghanistan today,” the Russian President said.

A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also made it clear that Russia is going to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorists, on which it is still included.

“Kazakhstan recently made a decision, which we are also going to make, to remove them from the list of terrorist organizations. Moreover, the UN Security Council did not declare the Taliban as a terrorist organization.
It only takes one veto, or the threat of one.
There are, in my opinion, 12–15 specific characters on the list of terrorists,” Lavrov told reporters.

Initially, the Taliban came under international sanctions and were included in terrorist lists not so much because of their own actions, but because of their support for other terrorist organizations. For example, Al-Qaeda, whose representatives received asylum in Afghanistan.
Al Qaeda is still there, as are all their little buddies. And ISIS-K is one of the leading exporters of jihad among the ISIS franchises. Some of these have connections, and have been causing trouble, in Russia.
Of course, the Taliban was and remains a fundamentalist movement, but both now and during the period of the first Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA - the Taliban state) distanced itself from obvious terrorist activities.

The Taliban, unlike Al-Qaeda and ISIS, have never advocated the dismantling of the world order and “global jihad.”
But they support — and intermarry with — those who do. Tomaytoes, tomahtoes.
During their first statehood in the 1990s, they maintained diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan. Neighboring Turkmenistan was then close to recognizing them.

At the moment, it has also become obvious that all concerns about the hypothetical expansion of the Taliban into neighboring countries have remained at the level of speculation and speculation. The Taliban movement has demonstrated in practice that it intends to build good neighborly relations with all its neighbors.
They’e still at the consolidation phase, and can’t afford external wars as well as the internal ones.
For Moscow, of course, the positive attitude of the Afghan authorities towards Russia itself and its approaches to international affairs also plays a role.

As political scientist and orientalist Mir-Ali Askerov, who recently returned from Afghanistan, told IA Regnum, “there has never been a situation in which, when you say that you are from Russia, it causes some kind of negativity, that is, it either causes at least something neutral, positive, or strictly positive attitude. The Afghans express their gratitude for the fact that you visited their country and, in general, offer their help there in every possible way.”
I assume Mr. Askerov is male.
Askerov emphasized that Afghans look with hope at the confrontation between Russia and the collective West, with the hope that Russia “will be able to withstand this onslaught, this pressure and will be able to achieve a revision of this monopolar world order.”
No doubt.
YOU CAN WALK AT NIGHT
As Russian officials have rightly noted, the Taliban are making good progress in nation-building.

Although the country has serious economic problems and terrorist groups continue to operate, the risk of political and economic collapse is assessed as minimal, and the country has also managed to overcome crime and make the lives of citizens safer.

According to Askerov, the crime situation has become much better than during the reign of Ashraf Ghani and the Americans, and during that period he also had the opportunity to visit Afghanistan.

“ You can now walk around Kabul at night, during the day, at any time of the day and in any area, it is absolutely safe. The only problem is pickpockets, but this is only a problem of large markets,” said the orientalist.
Again, Mr. Askerov is not female.
At the same time, security is ensured in a much “softer” way than during the American occupation.

“Of course, there are many guards and checkpoints in the city, but they do not create the impression of a police state, as during the American presence with rough searches and searches of everyone. On the streets you can also see employees of the ministry of “commanding what is good and prohibiting what is bad” (morality police), but they act unobtrusively, politely and rather try to explain or explain something rather than prohibit and detain, so this does not cause any rejection or conflicts,” Askerov noted.
No, no, perish the thought.
At the same time, he said, some problems remain, despite the optimism of Afghans:

“The population perceives current changes positively and looks to the future with hope. But, of course, Afghans live poorly, and even the wealthiest live very modestly by our standards; economic problems have not gone away.”

Nevertheless, the Taliban still managed to somewhat stabilize the economy.

Afghanistan's foreign trade fell after they seized power. However, despite the decline in imports, most of the country's income now comes from taxes.

As experts note, the Afghan economy is no longer in a state of free fall and appears to be frozen in a precarious balance, albeit at the lowest level.

Modest positive trends include lower inflation, exchange rate stability, some recovery in imports, a more than doubling of exports,
…opium and heroin, right?
stable or slightly increased labor demand and continued wage levels.

Of course, the problem of Afghan drug trafficking remains.
Opium and heroin, yes.
However, it arose long before the Taliban came to power and was “chronic” for this country.
The Taliban took control of it during their first tenure, and never let go.
Nevertheless, the IEA leadership is making efforts to limit the production of opiates.

Thus, according to a 2023 UN report, poppy cultivation in southern Afghanistan fell by more than 80% as a result of Taliban campaigns to stop its use in opium production. For example, the decline in poppy cultivation in Helmand province has dropped by 99%.

In November 2023, a UN report found that throughout Afghanistan, poppy cultivation had fallen by more than 95%, depriving the country of its status as the world's largest opium producer.
The warehouses were full to bursting. No point in producing more until that supply is used up and the price increases.
Although Iran does not agree with such optimistic assessments, since, according to Iranian officials, supplies of opium and heroin from Afghanistan to their country continued in large volumes.
See?
The Taliban have also made progress in dialogue and taking into account the interests of ethno-confessional minorities living in the country, primarily the Shiite Hazaras, who were able to gain access to some leadership positions, which may indicate the movement’s readiness to follow the path of forming an inclusive government.
Tokens to shut up the rubes.
However, problems remain with the Uzbek and Tajik minorities, who are dissatisfied with the fact that their representatives, not associated with the Taliban, are still not represented in the IEA power structures.

"RED TROOPS"
An important factor in recognizing the Taliban and removing terrorist labels from the movement is its success in suppressing the activity and presence of international terrorist organizations such as ISIS and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

It is significant that the Americans, who spent 20 years trying to eradicate the brainchild of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, were forced to recognize this success. But as soon as they left, the Taliban themselves solved this problem.

In particular, as Christy Abizaid, director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, stated on September 11, 2023, "al-Qaeda is in its historic decline in Afghanistan and Pakistan and its resurgence is unlikely."

She also cited declassified data that the group had "lost access to targets, leadership talent, group cohesion, grassroots commitment, and supportive local environment." She said the terrorist organization's ability to threaten from Afghanistan " is at its lowest level" since it moved there in 1998.

The Taliban were also able to suppress the activity of ISIS and its local affiliate ISIS-K in Afghanistan.
Within Afghanistan, anyway. Or perhaps just reports of their activities. But not abroad.
After a significant increase in their activity, due to the security vacuum created in some parts of the country after the US withdrawal, the Taliban changed this dynamic, depriving the terrorists of control over certain territories that they were able to acquire by following the Americans fleeing the country.

Their activities were dealt a blow, and activity over the past year has decreased significantly, which was noted in the relevant reports of international structures.

It is noted that the Taliban were able to conduct a successful campaign against ISIS-X and eliminated most of the sleeper cells that were ready to continue terrorist attacks in Afghan cities. After a surge in the number of terrorist attacks in the first months after the Taliban came to power, their number begins to decline as a result of counter-terrorism measures by the IEA security structures.

In particular, in 2022–2023. the number of terrorist attacks and other attacks by ISIS-X has decreased significantly. If in the first year of Taliban rule (2021-2022) there were 314 attacks and assaults, then in 2022-2023. only 69 - that is, less than during any period of activity of the group in Afghanistan since its inception.

The Taliban’s fight against ISIS is systematic and consistent; for this purpose, special counter-terrorism forces have been created in Afghanistan that can effectively counter it.

This counter-terrorism unit is called "Red Squad", or "Sara Kheta" in Pashto.
... also known as Red Unit, Red Brigade, Blood Unit, Danger Group, and Taliban Special Forces Unit. The Taliban’s special forces/shock troops unit was first deployed in Sangin town in Helmand province in 2016, then claimed a victory against ISIS-Khurasan in 2018. They were most active in Kunduz, Baghlan, and Faryab Provinces.
It is divided into several battalions of 300–350 men, selected by field commanders from among the fighters based on their discipline, dedication and skills. Each battalion operates in a separate province, but within the Red Squad there is also a battalion-sized group of the most trained elite forces known as Badri 313.
The Badri 313 Battalion was trained by the Haqqani network and based at Salahaddin Ayyubi Military Operations Academy. There is evidence it was at one point al Qaeda's military arm in Pakistan, with members gleaned from the Taliban and Pakistan’s pet jihadi groups including Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Jundallah, used for nasty attacks on the Pakistani army under the leadership of Ilyas Kashmiri (until 2011) followed by Shah Sahib.
In emergency situations, units work together to cover a multi-province area.

It was the “Red Detachments” that defeated the ISIS in the province of Nangarhar, which was a stronghold of terrorists. After which part of the “Red Detachment” battalions was transferred to the province of Kunar, which was soon also cleared of ISIS militants.

Of course, it is too early to talk about a complete victory over ISIS in Afghanistan.

But a significant decrease in terrorist activity allows the Taliban movement to establish economic ties with foreign partners and organize business trips to this country.

Therefore, Russia, acting proactively, can economically enter Afghanistan before others, officially recognizing the Taliban movement as the legitimate Afghan government.

Before this, there were many factors that forced our entrepreneurs to act with caution in Afghanistan, including the fear of persecution for justifying and financing terrorism.

By removing the Taliban from the terrorist lists, Moscow can speed up the implementation of economic projects in Afghanistan and begin absolutely legal, not “gray” investments.

Police scuttle JI ‘Gaza March’, round up dozens in Islamabad

The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
(JI) in two separate ’festivities’ on Srinagar Highway in a bid to stop the political party from organising a rally in support of Paleostine, allegedly without prior permission from the district administration.

JI Information Secretary Sajjad Ahmad Abbasi told Dawn that JI Islamabad chief Nasarullah Randhawa, and his deputies Kashif Chaudhry and Dr Farooq were also detained. Mr Abbasi said the party was preparing for the ’Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
March’ slated to be held on Oct 29 (Sunday) when a police contingent arrived at the venue and uprooted their camps.

Sharing information about the protest, the spokesperson said the JI approached the capital administration almost two weeks ago and sought permission in writing to organise the rally from Faizabad to the US embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave.

He claimed the political party reportedly altered the route of the march twice at the administration’s request — initially, from Zero Point to Dhokri Chowk and later from Sports Complex to Dhokri Chowk.

Mr Abbasi said JI leader Kashif Chaudhry approached Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon after the official did not respond to JI’s request for NOC to organise the protest rally. Subsequently, DC Memon allowed the JI to hold the march "on WhatsApp", he added.

After the approval of the deputy commissioner, preparations for the march were underway at Srinagar Highway, with the party setting up camps and installing a sound system. "In the afternoon, a heavy contingent of police reached the site...and started uprooting their camps and confiscated their equipment on the pretext of Section 144 and lack of permission from the administration for the protest rally," the JI spokesperson claimed.

The action resulted in a verbal altercation between the JI workers and the police, which subsequently led to a physical confrontation, the spokesperson said, adding that the JI workers pelted the police with stones. The police resorted to baton-charge and teargas shelling.

The police managed to round up at least three JI leaders and over two dozen workers and moved them to the Secretariat cop shoppe, he added.

In response to the police crackdown, the JI leaders gathered on the Srinagar Highway to address a presser. This prompted another round of confrontation between the JI and the police, he said, adding that the police detained more than 20 workers and shifted them to the lock-up.

In a comment on the law and order situation, a police front man said the arrests were made as "some people were attempting to block the Srinagar Highway".

"The highway is an inter-provincial connectivity road and blocking the road creates problems for the public," he added. The police advised them to follow prevalent procedures for peaceful protests.

The kidnappers included his release among their demands. One of the hostages managed to escape but the rest were eventually killed. In 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 that had been diverted to Kandahar. The hijackers were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar. Once he was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pak territory despite the fact that Islamabad had earlier stated that any of the hijackers would be jugged at the border. Unknown, you say? That most certainly wouldn’t be RAW then. Good to know.
According to reports in Pak media, Malik, termed a tribal elder, was rubbed out by unknown assailants in Pakistain's North Wazoo. Police said that it was a assassination carried out by unknown masked men in Mirali area of the North Waziristan tribal district on Friday morning.

Malik was targeted by masked men at a private clinic and the assailants managed to escape after the attack. Malik is said to be the founder of Lashkar-e-Jabbar and also a close aide of one of India's most wanted Lions of Islam Azhar.

The fresh incident raises questions of a war among the terrorist organizations that are functional in Pakistain. In last few weeks, several Lions of Islam wanted in India have been bumped off in Pakistain by unknown button men.
More unknown killers roaming in the wilds of Pakistan, you say? Very definitely not RAW, and probably not Mossad either, as they are currently occupied elsewhere.
On October 11, Shahid Latif, one of India's most wanted Lions of Islam and also a key conspirator in the 2016 Pathankot terror attack case was rubbed out by unknown button men in Pakistain's Sialkot. On October 1, Mufti Qaiser Farooq, a former member of Lashkar-e-Taiba

NIA raids 12 locations in J&K in terrorist conspiracy case
2023-06-27

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted a series of raids across four districts of Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
as part of its continuing investigations into the conspiracy of the newly-floated offshoots of proscribed Pakistain-backed terrorist outfits to destabilise J&K.

The agency in a statement said that twelve locations in the four districts of Kulgam, Bandipora, Shopian and Pulwama were raided as part of today’s crackdown. The locations were residential premises of hybrid murderous Moslems and Overground Workers linked with the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of the banned terrorist outfits. Premises of sympathisers and cadres of these organizations were also searched extensively in the raids.

It said that several digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data have been recovered by NIA in these searches. These will be subjected to a thorough scrutiny by the agency to unravel the details of the terrorist conspiracy, which NIA started investigating a year ago after registering a suo moto case (RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU) on 21st June 2022.

The statement said thag the newly floated terror outfits being probed by NIA include The Resistance® Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF and others. These outfits are affiliated to Pak-backed organizations like Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), al-Badr, al-Qaeda, etc, which have been banned by the Government of India.

"The cadres and workers whose premises were raided are under the NIA’s scanner for their involvement in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotic substances and arms/ammunitions. They have been engaged in spreading activities relating to terror, violence and subversion in J&K, according to the NIA investigations, " it said.

Investigations have revealed that Pak-based operatives were using social media platforms to promote terror. Drones were being used by them to deliver arms/ammunition, explosives, narcotics etc. to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley.

The terror conspiracy under investigation relates to plotting by the banned outfits in both physical and cyber space to unleash violent mostly peaceful terrorist attacks in J&K with sticky bombs, IEDs and small arms etc. The organizations, supported by their masters in Pakistain, have been conspiring to commit acts of terror and violence, by radicalizing local youth and mobilizing overground workers, to disturb peace and communal harmony in J&K.

NIA conducts raids across 16 locations in J&K to crack down on newly-launched terror groups

] A week after similar state-wide searches, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out extensive searches in Jammu & Kashmir, in the premises of "cadres and hybrid Death Eaters and Overground Workers linked with the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of several major banned Pak-backed terror outfits."

The raids, in the terror conspiracy case, were continuing till late in the evening. They were spread across locations in Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kulgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts of Jammu, said an NIA front man, in a statement.

The NIA has been investigating the activities of newly floated terrorist groups, such as "The Resistance® Front (TRF)", "United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (UL J&K)", "Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH)", "Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF)", Kashmir Tigers, PAAF and others. These outfits are affiliated to Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), al-Badr, al-Qaeda, etc., he said.

Tuesday’s raids, conducted at a total of 16 locations (12 in the Kashmir Valley and four in Jammu division), were part of NIA’s investigations into the activities of OGWs and cadres in support of these new terror outfits. "These cadres and workers have been found involved in collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, cash, drugs and small weapons, as well as in spreading activities relating to terror, violence and subversion in J&K. Investigations have further revealed that Pak-based operatives were using drones to deliver weapons, bombs, drugs etc. to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley."

NIA had earlier, on 2nd May, conducted raids at 12 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the seizure of incriminating material and digital devices, in the terror conspiracy case it had registered suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
on 21st June 2022, added the front man.

"The case (RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU) related to the hatching of a conspiracy, both physical and cyber space, and plans by the proscribed terrorist organizations to unleash violent mostly peaceful terrorist attacks in J&K with sticky bombs, IEDs and small arms. The plans are part of a larger conspiracy by these terrorist outfits to commit acts of terror and violence, in association with local youth/overground workers, to disturb peace and communal disharmony in J&K."

] Five soldiers were charred to death after snuffies attacked their vehicle with grenades in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, army said.

In a statement, the army’s Northern Command said that an army vehicle moving between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in the Rajauri sector was fired on by unidentified snuffies at about 3 pm.

The statement said that the vehicle caught fire due to "likely" use of grenades by terrorists, who took advantage of heavy rains and low visibility in the area.

"Five personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles Unit deployed for Counter Terrorist operations, in this area, have unfortunately bit the dust in the incident," it said.

Another seriously injured soldier was evacuated immediately to the Army Hospital at Rajauri and is under treatment, added the statement.

"Operations are in progress to locate the perpetrators," the statement said further. "Further details are being ascertained."
Khaama Press adds:
According to sources, the Incident was carried out by the terror organization People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which receives funding from Jaish, reported by India today.

[OneIndia] Seven terrorists were involved in the attack on the Indian Army soldiers, which took place in Poonch Jammu and Kashmir, the preliminary probe has shown.

Sources tell OneIndia that the terrorists had fired at the vehicle from all sides and had used rocket-propelled grenades. The investigation into the incident continues, while a massive search operation has been launched to nab the terrorists involved in the attack.

Pakistan continues to sponsor terrorist outfits along LoC
2023-03-26
[ANInews] Pakistan has been known for its perennial support to the Taliban in Afghanistan and other terrorist organizations in India and continues to sponsor terrorist outfits along the Line of Control (LoC).

A recent incident in which three terrorists opened fire at a rally of the Jammu and Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) and National Awami Party (NAP) at Tatrinote in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on March 18 proves that the Pak army and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) continue to patronize such terrorist organizations.

Notably, these three terrorists were granted pre-arrest bail with a bond of Pakistani Rs 50000/- each. PoK-based nationalists alleged that terrorists carried out the said attack at the instance of the army and ISI.

One of the said terrorists involved in open firing at the rally was released from an Afghan prison immediately after the Taliban takeover of Kabul - Waqar Sabir, r/o Tatrinote.

Prior to joining Afghan Taliban in their so-called jihad against the US, he had been active as a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander. During the war against the US, he had been arrested. He was one of those JeM terrorists, who had been released from the Afghan jails along with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists.

Following his release from the Afghan jail, Waqar Sabir arrived at Rawalakot on August 22, 2021. On arrival, he was accorded a grand welcome by JeM and other terrorist and Islamist organisations and brought to Tatrinote in a rally.

Moreover, Pakistan is yet to show sincerity in delivering justice to the families of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Multiple terrorist attacks were witnessed on November 26, 2008, in Mumbai. As many as 166 people, including 20 security force personnel and 26 foreign nationals, were killed and over 300 people were injured.

The country, in which sectarian groups targeting minority communities (Shias, Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and Ahmadis) and Kashmir-focused groups confined their operations to J-K and the rest of India, has become a victim of its own holy war as a consequence of the 'unholy alliance' between the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's powerful intelligence agency, military and self-styled religious scholars.

This historic alliance has resulted in colossal rise of radical Islam being a factor in the country's proclivity to Islamic fundamentalism.

To sustain the Kashmir movement at minimal cost, the ISI plans to cause disaffection and alienation, play the Islam-in-danger card, highlight the non-performance of the elected government and atrocities allegedly committed by the security forces.

Moreover, a crisis in Kashmir constitutes an excellent outlet for the frustration at home, an instrument for the mobilisation of the masses, as well as gaining the support of the Islamist parties and primarily their loyalists in the military and the ISI.

Reshi joined the krazed killer ranks in 2015 and was involved in the planning and execution of a krazed killer attack at a police guard post in Sopore in which a constable was killed and others injured. He was earlier associated with Hizbul- Mujahideen, and later fled to Pakistain.

As per NIA, he is currently involved in the krazed killer activities of The Resistance® Front (TRF), manages and supplies arms and ammunition, as well as funds for the outfit from across the border.

Based on its findings, the NIA has attached his agriculture land measuring 9.25 Marlas under the Act. Representatives of the UT Government and the police assisted the agency in the attachment process.

The agency said that till date, it has attached the properties of five designated Lions of Islam — US based Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Canada based Hardeep Singh Nijjar, and Pakistain based terrorists-Mushtaq Zargar alias Latram, Basit Ahmad Pir and KCF (Panjwar) Paramjit Singh alias Panjwar.

"The NIA recently attached, under UAPA, the Hurriyat office in Srinagar, which was owned in part by Nayeem Khan, an accused charge sheeted by the NIA in the Hurriyat terror funding case", it said.

The Pak government had also previously indicated that Azhar would be allowed to return home since he did not face any charges there. JeM militant commander Ashiq Nengroo's house demolished in J&K's Pulwama
2022-12-11
[Daily Excelsior] The residence of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant commander Ashiq Nengroo was demolished by the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, officials said.

The two-storey house at New Colony in Rajpora had come up on state land, the official claimed. It was demolished by the district administration in the presence of police.

Nengroo is a wanted JeM commander and an accused in the 2019 Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.

In April this year, the central government declared Nengroo as a “designated terrorist” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

In a notification, the Union home ministry said Nengroo has been involved in the infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir and has also been responsible for perpetrating various terror incidents in the Union Territory.

He is running a terror syndicate in Kashmir and is now “engaged in a perilous campaign to orchestrate terror in Jammu and Kashmir”, remote controlled from Pakistan, the ministry had said.

Meanwhile, militant outfit The Resistance Front (TRF) opposed the demolition of the house and threatened officials and police personnel with dire consequences.

Police officials, however, sought to downplay the threats issued by TRF, a shadow outfit of the JeM, saying this was a desperate attempt by the terrorists who had been cornered.

Three terror splinter groups operating in Rajouri-Poonch

[GREATERKASHMIR] Admitting the presence of about three splinter terror groups in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. , a police brass hat said security forces are making efforts to neutralise them.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri-Poonch range, Haseeb Mughal said search and cordon operations in broader areas are taking place on almost daily basis to provide a sense of security among the people and to ensure they continue their normal activities without any fear.

On August 11, two suspected murderous Moslems of Pakistain-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit launched a pre-dawn suicide kaboom on an Army camp in Rajouri, marking the return of fidayeen' to Jammu and Kashmir after more than three years.

Both the murderous Moslems were rubbed out after an over four-hour gunbattle, while five soldiers were also killed in the incident.

"Police and other (security) agencies have prior information about movement of murderous Moslems who took advantage of the natural camouflage in the shape of wild growth and vegetation, a normal phenomenon during monsoon...After that attack (on August 11), security was further heightened and an alert was sounded in view of the presence of two to three more splinter terrorist groups in the Pir Panjal region," the police officer said during an interaction on social networking site Facebook.

He said the terror groups are on the radar of security agencies and are being regularly followed to neutralise them as soon as possible.

"A contact was established with one such group (within a week of the first attack) but they slipped away taking advantage of inclement weather and darkness coupled with dense forest," Mughal said.

He said the security forces are jointly carrying out cordon and search operations in broader areas on a regular basis to provide a sense of security to the people so that they continue their normal activities like farming without any fear.

"The support structure for murderous Moslems in both Rajouri and Poonch is almost negligible. People helped security forces to bust a number of terror modules in the recent past," Mughal said, appealing to the people to help security forces in maintaining peace in the region.

"Peace is prosperity...Whenever you find any suspicious movement or a suspicious object, immediately report to the concerned cop shoppe, control room or security establishment. We will ensure an immediate response," he said.

The senior police officer asserted that peace is not possible without the support of the people.

"They are stakeholders of peace and we can play our part, but they too have to play their active role," he said, adding police and security forces are always ready to extend their support to the people.

The DIG, also said police have set up an online grievance redressal system for public and police personnel to ensure that their problems are resolved on time.

"The major agenda of the government is to reach out to the people and mitigate their sufferings. We have taken this initiative as part of the agenda," he said, adding while the issues pertaining to police will be addressed by the department, those concerning the civil administration will be forwarded to the departments concerned.
