India requests Pakistan to extradite Hafiz Saeed in 'so-called money laundering case'
2023-12-30
[GEO.TV] India has requested Pakistain to extradite Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the chief of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa
...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba...
(JuD), the Foreign Office confirmed Friday.

"Pakistain has received a request from the Indian authorities, seeking extradition of Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat. He is periodically placed under house arrest so it looks like the govt is doing something. Once the heat is off they let him go....
in a so-called money laundering case," Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement.

However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
there might be no plans to follow up on India’s request, as according to the spokesperson, "no bilateral extradition treaty exists between Pakistain and India".

India blames Saeed for being involved in attacks across the borders, however, the chief of the banned outfit has denied all claims.

A Pak court had sentenced Hafiz Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba

(LeT), the gang blamed by the United States and India for the deadly 2008 Mumbai siege, to 31 years in prison in two cases of terrorism financing.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore had found Saeed guilty of terrorism financing in April 2022 and sentenced him to 32 years in jail.

Hours before Zahra’s confirmation, India had also confirmed it had formally requested Pakistain to extradite Saeed, according to India's foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

"We have conveyed a request along with relevant supporting documents to the Government of Pakistain," Bagchi told news hounds in a media briefing.

Saeed conviction in 2022 was not the only one. Arrested in 2019, he was already serving a 15-year sentence after being found guilty of terror financing in 2020.

Saeed, who was put behind bars many times before over the past decade, denies being involved with armed operations, including the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, which killed 166 people.

The kidnappers included his release among their demands. One of the hostages managed to escape but the rest were eventually killed. In 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 that had been diverted to Kandahar. The hijackers were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar. Once he was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pak territory despite the fact that Islamabad had earlier stated that any of the hijackers would be jugged at the border. The Pak government had also previously indicated that Azhar would be allowed to return home since he did not face any charges there. Shortly after his release, he made a public address to an estimated 10,000 people in Karachi, firing up the rubes against America and India...
, was rubbed out on Pakistain soil by unknown button men, reports said.
Unknown, you say? That most certainly wouldn’t be RAW then. Good to know.
According to reports in Pak media, Malik, termed a tribal elder, was rubbed out by unknown assailants in Pakistain's North Wazoo. Police said that it was a assassination carried out by unknown masked men in Mirali area of the North Waziristan tribal district on Friday morning.

Malik was targeted by masked men at a private clinic and the assailants managed to escape after the attack. Malik is said to be the founder of Lashkar-e-Jabbar and also a close aide of one of India's most wanted Lions of Islam Azhar.

The fresh incident raises questions of a war among the terrorist organizations that are functional in Pakistain. In last few weeks, several Lions of Islam wanted in India have been bumped off in Pakistain by unknown button men.
More unknown killers roaming in the wilds of Pakistan, you say? Very definitely not RAW, and probably not Mossad either, as they are currently occupied elsewhere.

India says battle with Kashmir rebels over after eight killed
2023-09-20
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] India said Tuesday that a weeklong battle between its soldiers and suspected rebels in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
had ended with eight people killed.

The battle started last Wednesday when bandidos gunnies ambushed and killed two soldiers and a police officer who were patrolling the Gadole forests in the disputed territory.

Over the following days, three more soldiers were found dead after they went missing during the protracted firefight.

The Indian army deployed helicopters and drones and launched bombs into the forests while pursuing the attackers.

Police officer Vijay Kumar said two bandidos gunnies were killed in the battle including Uzair Khan, a local commander of the Pakistain-based krazed killer group Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
"We have spotted one more body of a dead krazed killer," Kumar told news hounds, adding that no more button men were on the lam.

Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistain, with both countries claiming it in full and fighting two wars over control of the Himalayan territory.

A violent mostly peaceful insurgency beginning in 1989 killed tens of thousands of people including Indian troops, bandidos gunnies and civilians.

New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting the rebels, claims Pakistain denies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government stripped the Indian-administered section of Kashmir of its limited constitutional autonomy in 2019 and imposed direct rule.

Deadly battles between security forces and rebels have been less common in the years since.

Two other shootouts in Kashmir this month claimed the lives of three security forces personnel and five suspected rebels.
One India adds:
"There is a huge area that remains to be searched. There can be a lot of unexploded shells which will be recovered and destroyed. We appeal to the people not to go to the area," he added.

The ADGP said security forces had reports that two to three terrorists were there. "There is a possibility that the third dead body may be somewhere. It will be known after the search is complete," Kumar said.
More from Greater Kashmir:
Speaking to news hounds, Additional Director General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said the body of Uzair Khan has been retrieved from the encounter site while another body is lying there.

Responding to a question, Kumar said that they had inputs about the presence of 2-3 snuffies in the area. "Searches are underway in the area to look for the third terrorist," he said.

An Army colonel, a Major, a soldier and a DySP of Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed in the encounter which broke out last Wednesday in the Gadole area of Kokernag.

's Anantnag district, officials said as the operation to flush out the ultras entered the third day on Friday.

The turbans killed four security personnel on Wednesday.

''The forces fired mortar shells on the terrain where they believe the turbans are hiding, based on drone surveillance,'' the officials said.

The security forces have maintained a tight cordon in the area, they added.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat and a soldier were killed in an encounter with the turbans at Gadole in the Kokernag area of the south Kashmir district on Wednesday morning.

. The area is cordoned off, and a search operation is underway, according to an official statement.

The encounter followed a shootout that erupted between security forces and concealed bully boyz in the Kokernag area of Anantnag on Wednesday. In this violent mostly peaceful exchange, an Army Rashtriya Rifles unit Commanding Officer (Colonel), a Company Commander (Major), and a Jammu and Kashmir Police Deputy Superintendent (DSP) bit the dust. The encounter is ongoing.

The four officials who tragically bit the dust are Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchack, DSP Humayun Bhat, and the fourth soldier whose identity has not been disclosed.

Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchack were laid to rest in their hometown of Panipat on Friday morning. DSP Humayun Bhat was given his final farewell on Thursday at his residence in Budgam. After the encounter, the Indian Army airlifted their remains to Srinagar on Thursday, and a tribute was paid to their mortal remains on Thursday evening.

Officials have disclosed that the army was leading the operation based on specific intelligence inputs, searching for bully boyz in a hideout when the firefight erupted. The bully boyz initiated gunfire, resulting in the immediate death of Colonel Manpreet Singh and injuries to two other officials who later gave up the ghost in a Srinagar hospital.

The bully boyz are believed to be associated with "The Resistance® Front," a proxy group of Lashkar-e-Taiba

. Security forces suspect that two to three bully boyz are still hiding in the area. To facilitate surveillance and aid in the search operation, Heron drones and quadcopters have been deployed in the region, as reported by officials.

In response to the killing of four security personnel, anti-Pakistain protests erupted on Thursday in various parts of Jammu city. Organizations such as Panun Kashmir and the Eik Sanatam Bharat Dal (ESBD) paid homage to the fallen personnel and called for a comprehensive operation against the terrorist network in Jammu and Kashmir.

(Let) terrorists, including Uzair Khan, responsible for the killing of three security officers in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district.

In a tragic incident, a fierce shootout with gunnies in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district in Kashmir led to the loss of an army colonel, a major, and a senior police official. Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were among the casualties.

Uzair Ahmad Khan (28) has been an active member of Let since July 2022.

Reportedly, the bodies of the colonel and major were recovered from the encounter site. The gunnies had taken refuge in a nomad hut, and upon receiving a tip from sources, they targeted the officers and their escort. During the operation, an AK-47 rifle, utensils, clothing, and ammunition were seized from the hut, which served as the terrorists' hideout in the Gadole jungles.

The operation was meticulously planned by the Commanding Officer (CO), company commander, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), catching the gunnies off guard as they approached the hideout from an unexpected and challenging route. The gunnies were cornered and engaged in indiscriminate firing, resulting in severe injuries to the three courageous officers. The treacherous terrain made the situation even more challenging, but the gunnies are currently trapped, and an ongoing operation is in progress to neutralize them.

The encounter happened on Wednesday morning as part of a mission to locate and apprehend gunnies believed to be hiding in the Gadole area. The operation initially commenced on Tuesday evening but was temporarily halted during the night for safety reasons. On Wednesday morning, authorities resumed their pursuit of the gunnies based on credible information regarding their concealed location. These details were shared by official sources with PTI, shedding light on the prevailing security challenges in the region.

As the joint forces' team closed in on the suspected location, the hidden gunnies initiated gunfire, sparking a confrontation.

LeT commander who had key role in Rajouri attack killed inside PoK mosque

's (POK) Rawalkot on Friday.

The terrorist, identified as Riyaz Ahmad alias Abu Qasim Kashmiri, was shot from point-blank range during the Friday prayers. He was one of the main conspirators behind the Rajouri terror attack in J&K in January this year. At least seven people had died while a dozen were maimed when snuffies firing indiscriminately at Dhangri village in Rajouri district. They also left behind an improvised bomb (IED) that went off the next morning.

Sources said the role of home-grown Lions of Islam of Pakistain is suspected in the murder, which is the third such killing in four months. All three were confidantes of designated global terrorist Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Lashkar commander Khalid Saifullah was bumped off on August 11 while another LeT commander Salaam Bhuttavi, who was one of the trainers of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, mysteriously suffered a cardiac arrest in a Pakistain jail. Around ten such killings, many of them in Pakistain, have been reported in the last one year.

Friday’s killing has come as a major blow to IS’s Kashmir centric plans as Qasim Kashmiri had established himself as a notorious "launching commander" with a focus on recruitments in Rajouri and Poonch areas in the Valley. Pakistain media outlets termed Abu Qasim’s death as a "assassination of an Islamist Guerrilla fighter". As per the police’s briefing to the local media, Qasim was shot four times by assailants wearing helmets. Qasim originally belonged to the Surankot area of J&K and had exfiltrated across the border in 1999. "He was considered as the brain behind the revival of terrorism in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri," an intelligence official said.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K in August 2019, the IS has been facing a major challenge in terms of terrorist recruitment. Abu Qasim, however, had kept the launchpads alive and kept getting the local youths on IS’s payroll while brainwashing them about jihad. In the last three years, terror camps were mainly running from 3-4 areas of POK, including Manshera and Muzaffarabad, under the guidance of Qasim and his associates.

Dhangri Killings NIA arrests 2 for harbouring terrorists involved in attack
2023-09-06

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two persons who had allegedly harboured Lions of Islam involved in the five civilian killings in Dhangri village of Rajouri in January this year.

The duo identified as Nisar Ahmed alias Haji Nisar and Mushtaq Hussain was formally arrested by the NIA on Thursday in the case RC-01/2023/NIA/JMU.

"They were produced before the NIA Special Court, Jammu, on Friday and were sent to 12 days NIA custody," the NIA officials said. "Incidentally, both the accused were currently lodged at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, in another case registered at Police Station Gursai, Mendhar, Poonch."

On January 1, 2023, five persons were killed and others seriously injured in an attack by unknown terrorists.

"The case was initially registered as FIR No 01/2023 at PS Rajouri under Section 302, 307, 120-B, 452, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Sections 13, 16, and 18 of UA (P) Act 1967, and Sections 7 and 27 of the Arms Act," the NIA officials said.

The Territory of the Jihadists: Who Are the Foreign Fighters of ISIS in Afghanistan?
2023-08-13
[8am] Based on the findings of the Hasht-e Subh Daily, IS-K in Afghanistan has not only recruited local fighters but has also added a significant number of imported muscle to its ranks. Paks have consistently been considered primary leaders of IS-K and currently hold notable roles in the council of the group, which is the decision-making body for IS-K, evaluating and finalizing the leader’s decisions. Despite some Pak IS-K commanders being killed in Afghanistan, certain Paks still operate as nominal leaders in some provinces, including Kunar and Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman. The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.
After that it was mostly notable for the production of dirt, rocks, and holy men...
Recently, Uzbek fighters from the Jundallah
..."Soldiers of God," a name used by two multiple separate terror outfits, one active in Iran and the other in Pakistain. Both are Sunni organizations that target Shiites. group have joined IS-K. After the liquidation of their leader by the Taliban

Meanwhile,

ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) has escalated efforts to attract Pak and Uzbek fighters. The leadership of this branch of ISIS continues to strive towards enlisting dissatisfied Uzbek fighters from the Taliban. Notably, with the presence of these fighters, ISIS activities have expanded across Central Asia, resulting in rocket attacks on other countries.

The ISIS group launched its branch’s activities in Afghanistan and the region under the name "ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K)" for the first time in 2015. The geographical scope envisioned by ISIS for its Khorasan region included parts of Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistain. However,

the activities of this group have expanded since then, extending its attacks to Central Asia. The latest United Nations

statistics indicate that the ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) branch currently has between four to six thousand fighters in Afghanistan.
Noted.
Previous reports suggested that considering the geographic scope of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K), most of its members are Afghan nationals and hold key positions within the group.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
findings of the Hasht-e Subh Daily indicate that a significant portion of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) is composed of foreign jihadists; individuals who, due to dissatisfaction with other jihadist groups, including the Afghan Taliban and Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), have pledged allegiance to ISIS. Some members of al-Qaeda also have connections with ISIS, and given the presence of both groups in Afghanistan, it’s possible that they might have dual affiliations.
Why not? The leadership of the Haqqani faction of the Afghan Taliban also have places on the Al Qaeda table of organization.
But the question remains: which specific groups’ fighters are currently part of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K), and what role do they play in expanding the group’s operational reach?

PAKS: FROM FOUNDING IS-K TO ACTIVE ROLE IN LAJNA COUNCIL
Despite the presence of Afghan fighters within IS-K, the branch was initially founded by dissident Pak Taliban members on Afghan soil. Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa.
Orakzai, a former Pak Taliban commander, pledged allegiance to ISIS in October 2014 due to dissatisfaction with both the Afghan and Pak Taliban. He served as the leader of IS-K for about one and a half years until he was killed by U.S. forces in August 2016. After a year of leadership by Abdul Hasib Pashtun-infested Logari, the leadership of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) (IS-K) once again shifted to Pak fighters. At that time, Abdullah Orakzai, also known as Aslam Farooqi, assumed this responsibility in April 2017 until he was eventually detained and imprisoned by authorities of the former government in the year 2020.

Since then, some dissident Pak Taliban fighters have remained part of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) and have played crucial roles as commanders in the current IS-K conflict. Even some of the "amirs" or (leaders) of IS-K in Afghanistan are Pak fighters. For example, Qari Faateh, who operated as the nominal amir of IS-K in Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
, was announced to have been killed by the Taliban in Kabul in February of this year. At that time, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban front man, stated that Qari Faateh was the head of intelligence and operations for IS-K, and the Taliban accused him of orchestrating attacks on mosques and diplomatic sites.

Continuing, in early June of this year, the Taliban announced the killing of an ISIS commander named Tarab Bajauri in the province of Laghman. This Pak commander was operating as the "amir" (leader) of the IS-K branch in Laghman province and was considered one of the individuals who joined ISIS alongside Hafiz Saeed Orakzai. Bajauri had a long military background and was among those responsible for ISIS’s significant influence in Kunar province. The Taliban regarded him as a key member of the ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) in Afghanistan. Such stances by the Taliban indicate that Pak fighters are significant pillars of IS-K and actively operate within Afghanistan under Taliban control.

Currently, Asadullah Orakzai is another prominent Pak commander of ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K). He operates as the amir of ISIS in Laghman province and is also a member of the Lajna Council. According to the Hasht-e Subh Daily’s findings, this council holds the leadership responsibility for ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) and decides on the group’s activities in the "Khorasan region." Most of the IS-K commanders, especially the Pak ones who are currently active members of ISIS, are actively involved in the Lajna Council. Qari Faateh, who was also a member of this council, participated in making decisions for the future of IS-K. Additionally, Saifullah Orakzai, another prominent commander of IS-K, is a member of this council.

In this way, the findings indicate that Pak fighters are active members of the ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) operating in Afghanistan. They have experience in leading the ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) on two occasions and are currently serving as commanders in provinces as well as engaging in military and intelligence activities.

According to additional information, ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) is vigorously striving to increase its Pak fighters. This branch of ISIS has included the issue of recruiting Pak fighters as part of its future plans. In this process, individuals dissatisfied with their activities alongside the Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) are being targeted for recruitment by ISIS to expand its activities in eastern Afghanistan and certain areas of Pakistain. It’s noteworthy that most Pak members of the ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K) have joined the group due to dissatisfaction with their previous affiliations, and given the extent of this dissatisfaction, the increase in the number of Pak fighters for ISIS is probable.

JUNDALLAH UZBEK JIHADISTS AND THEIR INVOLVEMENT WITH IS-K
The findings indicate that members of the Uzbek group Jundallah have also joined IS-Khorasan (IS-K) in the northern regions of Afghanistan. According to the information, currently, except for a small fraction of the group, most of the Uzbek commanders and fighters have become part of IS-Khorasan (IS-K). ISIS has incorporated a segment of the Jundallah group, consisting of Uzbek fighters in northern Afghanistan, into its ranks. Consequently, Mullah Saad, an Uzbek national, has assumed leadership of this group within IS-Khorasan (IS-K), and Uzbek holy warrior Osama Ghazi serves as his deputy. In addition to these two leaders from the Jundallah group, around two thousand fighters from this group and thousands of their supporters in Takhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan, and Faryab provinces have also become part of IS-Khorasan (IS-K).

This significant shift occurred as Uzbek fighters in Jundallah grew disillusioned with the Taliban regime. According to the Hasht-e Subh Daily’s findings, the Uzbek holy warriors played a major role in the Taliban’s takeover in the north of Afghanistan. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
following the Taliban’s return, Jundallah’s leadership and members faced hostility from them. The Taliban resorted to assassinations of some Jundallah leaders to control the group. Notably, Uzbek migrant Osman Ghazi, who entered Afghanistan with five thousand of his Uzbek followers during Baranuddin Rabbani’s rule, later joined Jundallah at the request of Abdul Malik Rigi, a Jundallah member. Rigi, who operated in Iran, was executed after being arrested by the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran.

After the first fall of the Taliban regime, Ghazi went to Pakistain to lead his group’s terrorist attacks alongside the Afghan Taliban against the previous government. Following orders from Mullah Mohammed Omar, the founder of the Taliban, Ghazi returned with hundreds of his followers to the province of Zabul and, in 2016, made an informal allegiance to ISIS during a consultation with some Taliban leaders. This move seemingly served as part of the plan to eliminate him, as shortly after, Ghazi became the target of an ambush by Taliban commanders and was killed in Zabul province along with his wife and several children.

Based on the findings of the Hasht-e Subh Daily, this action led Osama Ghazi, his son, and 150 other Jundallah members from Zabul province, where his father was present, to go to the provinces of Kandahar and Badakhshan and then leave those areas too. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
he waited for Dire Revenge from the Taliban until, following the Taliban’s resurgence, he and all members of his group joined ISIS. It should be noted that ISIS has utilized Jundallah members in expanding its activities in Central Asia. For instance, a member of this group, who previously operated under Salahuddin Ayubi’s command in Faryab province, launched a rocket attack on the soil of Uzbekistan.

On the other hand, IS-K’s efforts to gain the allegiance of Salahuddin Ayubi, a commander of Uzbek origin and dissatisfied with the Taliban, have intensified. He has close relations with the northern hard boyz and appears to be able to establish connections with other gangs in Tajikistan and other northern regions of the country. Moreover, ISIS, pursuing its plans for expanding activities in Central Asia, seeks to establish further communication with Uzbekistan fighters. This endeavor highlights the group’s intention to engage with some commanders and fighters of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other shoulder......
based on available information, ISIS has previously designated a commander for Tajikistan as well. It is worth recalling that, in addition to Khorasan, the group is also seriously focused on the Indian subcontinent. According to the findings, in mid-2022, the leadership of ISIS instructed its members in the "Province of Hind" to intensify their activities in India and Pakistain. Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, the then-leader of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, had urged Sheikh Zubair Ahmed, the ISIS governor in India, to bring about positive changes in that geography. Subsequently, Sheikh Zubair Ahmed decided to activate his media unit and conduct activities through Telegram, following the same directive.

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria, known as ISIS, was originally formed in the late 20th century under the name "Jamāʿat al-Tawḥīd wal-Jihād." It merged with al-Qaeda in 2004 but adopted the name "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" in 2013. In 2014, ISIS declared a caliphate, with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as its first recognized leader. Currently, besides Iraq and some Arab countries, ISIS also operates extensively in Afghanistan. These activities have intensified after the return of the Taliban to power, and they encompass attacks on diplomatic sites and rocket attacks on countries in Central Asia. With recent changes in ISIS and the joining of imported muscle to its Khorasan branch, it appears that the group has significant plans for further infiltration into the "Wilayah of Khorasan." Previously, information indicated that IS-K was seeking to seize control of Kunar Province
...one of the four N2KL provinces (Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kunar and Laghman). N2KL is the designation used by US and Coalition Forces for the rugged and very violent region opposite Pakistain's Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Northwest Frontier Province. Kunar is the center of the N2KL region. Its population is 95% Pashtun. It is adjacent to Bajaur Agency..
, a move that has been delayed after the assessment by its Lajna Council.

The case was registered at Police Station Nowgam in Srinagar in February this year after Police during a checking at a checkpoint arrested three LeT associates along with over Rs 31.65 lakh and other incriminating materials from their possession. They were identified as Umar Adil Dar, Bilal Asmad Sidiqi and Salik Mehraj. Dar was associated with separatists.

In February, a police party of Police Station Nowgam during routine checking at Lasjan Crossing on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway had spotted three suspicious individuals coming from Lasjan towards the highway carrying a blue colour cricket kit bag trying to avoid checking at the checkpoint. However,

the police party managed to stop them.

During checking of the kit bag carried by Dar, Rs 31,65,200, a mobile phone, and three pages of LeT letterhead were recovered. On personal search of the two other persons, Sidiqi and Mehraj, four pages each of the LeT letterhead were recovered. During preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that the trio was working as terrorist associates of the LeT.

After the recovery, Police investigated the case thoroughly.

During investigation, the names of Yasmeen Raja who was once chairperson of Moslem Khawateen Markaz (MKM) and Zamrooda Habib, who was also chairperson of MKM were also arrested.

The Police did not stop investigation there. Taking investigations forward, Police on Thursday arrested a "journalist" Muzamil Zahoor Malik of Pattan, Baramulla.

"In continuation of investigation of FIR No 20/23 under Sections 120 B, 121, and 121A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 13, 18, 39, and 40 of the ULAP Act wherein recovery of Rs 31.65 lakh was effected. Police said Muzamil Zahoor had opened a fake account on forged identity in a bank for transactions related to furtherance of the activities of the banned LET outfit.

"He had received funds in lakhs meant for terror activities in this account from the main terror hawala operator of LeT," Police said. "Incriminating material has also been seized from the accused at the time of his arrest. The accused has been taken on a seven-day remand for custodial examination."

Senior Police officials said that they received the money as part of a conspiracy to strengthen its cadres within Srinagar district.

"They received money on the directions of their handlers based in Pakistain as a part of a larger criminal conspiracy hatched by the terrorist organization within and across the border to pass, raise money, and funds for furthering their activities and causing large-scale disturbances in J&K," they said.
