Fmr governor rails against Obamacare's rising costs: 'More crony capitalism'
2024-05-01
[FoxNews] Bobby Jindal ripped Biden for 'dangerous' executive orders during his presidency

A former Republican governor from Louisiana railed against Obamacare as "the worst kind of political corruption" that he claims was designed to establish reliance on the federal government - an ideology he also suggested is not unique to health care.

Bobby Jindal, a former GOP congressman who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016, said Obamacare was "sold on a lie" by President Barack Obama in a new video for American First Policy Institute's (AFPI) Center for a Healthy America - pointing to rising costs and fewer health care options over the years.

"President Obama was a very eloquent politician and a lot of what he said sounded great. When he was campaigning to run for president, when he was campaigning to try to pass Obamacare, he made some great promises," Jindal told Fox News Digital in an interview. "All of that sounded great. Here's the problem. Every single one of those promises was a lie."

Jindal detailed rising costs that he says resulted from Obama-era policies, and that "it is time for us to get beyond the failed policies, the failed promises of Obamacare."

"I think you're going to see more and more crony capitalism, where these big companies become dependent on their friends in DC. And it's the worst kind of political corruption," the former congressman said.

Republicans have made attempts to reform Obamacare over the years, failing to pass a reform to the Affordable Care Act in 2017 after former President Trump took office.

Jindal highlighted that the 2024 election will play a key role in future attempts to reform the health care system and that Republicans will be more prepared to create tax cuts and pass legislation than in previous years if they capture a majority in Congress.

Jindal added that "we need a different approach" than the current system under President Biden, who he says has signed "dangerous" executive orders since his first day on the job.

"Biden has made it clear he wants to raise taxes. Biden has made it clear he wants to make us less energy secure. Biden has made it clear he wants to leave the borders open. Biden has made it clear that they will not take decisive action to crack down on anti-Semitism and radical protests on our college campuses. Biden has made it clear he won't stand with our strongest ally in the Middle East consistently. He won't stand with Israel consistently," he told Fox, referencing recent anti-Israel protests that have plagued college campuses in recent weeks.

Nikki Haley officially drops out of 2024 election, challenges Trump to win back her supporters
2024-03-07
[NYPOST] Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's former ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
has ended her White House bid, virtually ensuring Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
will be the 2024 Republican nominee.

"The time has come now to suspend my campaign. I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard. I have done that," Haley said in a speech Wednesday morning, hours after the last Super Tuesday results were tabulated.

The 52-year-old then congratulated Trump, 77, but didn’t go as far as to endorse him — instead challenging him to get her supporters on his side.

"It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support [him]. And I hope he does that," Haley said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch cautiously raised his hat over the edge of the horse trough on the end of a stick......
President Biden issued an invitation to Haley voters to consider joining his campaign.

"Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign. I know there is a lot we won’t agree on. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, on standing up for the rule of law, on treating each other with decency and dignity and respect, on preserving NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
and standing up to America’s adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground," the Democrat said in a statement.

The former South Carolina governor had said she would stay in the race if she remained "competitive," but kept a noticeably lower profile ahead of Tuesday’s contests in 15 states.

The campaign had long said Super Tuesday — where 865 GOP delegates were awarded — would be a critical point in the race and that her path to victory against Trump would be an "uphill battle." Haley barnstormed the country after suffering defeat in her home state of South Carolina on Feb. 24, telling supporters in Washington on Friday she was "going to fight for Super Tuesday."

Trump Gives Speech After Winning Iowa Caucus; Ramaswamy To End Campaign
2024-01-16
[ZeroHedge] As predicted, Donald Trump has been declared the winner of the Iowa Caucus by the Associated Press. Trump beat both Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley by nearly 30 points and 40 points respectively, in line with the final NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll.

According to Bloomberg, Vivek Ramaswamy is ending his 2024 campaign and endorsed Trump.

Trump, likely after finding out that Ramaswamy wouldn't continue, credited Vivek for doing a 'hell of a job.'

Trump has the backing of well over 100 GOP governors and members of Congress — including more than 20 U.S. senators and top House members like Speaker Mike Johnson — outpacing his rivals for the party’s nomination in all of those categories. On Sunday he added more: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. -NPR
The Times of Israel adds:
Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
wins the Iowa caucuses Monday, a crucial victory at the outset of the Republican primary that reinforces the former US president’s bond with his party’s voters even as he faces extraordinary legal challenges that could complicate his bid to return to the White House.

The magnitude of Trump’s success is still coming into focus, but the former president’s supporters endured a historic and life-threatening cold snap to participate in caucus meetings that unfolded in schools, churches and community centers across the state.

The results are just the first in what will be a monthslong effort for Trump to secure the GOP nomination a third consecutive time. But they send an unmistakable message to the Republican Party that the nomination is Trump’s to lose and crystalize the challenge facing his GOP opponents.

Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's former ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are Trump’s most prominent primary rivals. They are aiming for a second-place finish in Iowa that would give them at least some momentum heading into future races. Both are already pivoting their focus, with Haley poised to compete vigorously in New Hampshire, where she hopes to be more successful with the state’s independent voters heading into the January 23 primary. DeSantis, meanwhile, is heading straight to South Carolina, a conservative stronghold where the February 24 contest could prove pivotal, before then going to New Hampshire.

Iowa is an uneven predictor of who will ultimately lead Republicans into the general election. George W. Bush’s 2000 victory was the last time a Republican candidate won in Iowa and went on to become the party’s standard-bearer.

Louisiana governor plans to request federal emergency declaration over saltwater intrusion threatening water
2023-09-23
Is it worse than what they have been drinking?
[FoxNews] Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards
...D, his resumé includes West Point and eight years in the Army, ending as company commander in the 82nd Airborne. He went home to join the family law firm before going into politics. As governor he is fond of reversing Bobby Jindal’s executive orders, just like President Joe Biden...
said the state is days away from requesting a federal emergency declaration related to the saltwater intrusion of the Mississippi River that threatens drinking water.

The governor already issued a state of emergency declaration earlier this month, and he noted that the state has already had some assistance from federal partners.

Saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico has started to creep into the drought-stricken Mississippi River, threatening drinking water in New Orleans and other areas.

"Unfortunately, we just haven’t had the relief from dry conditions ... so that intrusion is worsening, in the sense that it’s moving further up the river," Edwards said.

The Mississippi is also forecast to reach historic lows over the next few weeks, he added.

Plaquemines Parish, in the southeastern part of the state, is already under a drinking water advisory due to high salt levels in the water. Bottled water is being distributed to residents.

He added that the state is "being proactive" about the issue, including heightening an underwater levee used to block or slow the wedge of salt water and bringing in 15 million gallons of fresh water for residents in impacted areas.

CNN's Bakari Sellers calls Nikki Haley 'white governor' after town hall
2023-06-06
[NYPOST] A CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
political analyst falsely referred to Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's former ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
as "a white governor from the Deep South"
...actually, she is the child of Sikh immigrants from Amritsar, Punjab, in India — her birth name is Nimarata Nikki Randhawa. Despite appearing well within the white spectrum, she is by definition brown, just like AOC...
Sunday night while criticizing her handling of racial tensions in South Carolina following the 2015 massacre of nine black parishioners at a Charleston church by a white supremacist.
That was Dylann Roof at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17, 2015. Mr. Roof was a drug and alcohol using high school dropout from a broken home, so the odds that he would end up a successful member of the middle class were against him. It sounds like he had some anxiety/depression issues, but I’ve not seen anything definitive.
"One of the major elements of the Nikki Haley story is Charleston," Bakari Sellers, a former Democratic politician from the Palmetto State, said following CNN’s town hall event with Haley.

"Nikki Haley did not take down the Confederate flag," Sellers added, attacking the 51-year-old governor for not ordering the Stars and Bars removed earlier in her tenure. "That bothers me when she alludes to it or people state that, because that’s incorrect. Nine people died so that the Confederate flag could come down."

"But there also has to be some credit given to a white governor from the deep South being able to go to nine funerals because I saw the exhaustion on her face — being a leader during that time and being able to bridge people together," Sellers also said.

CNN anchor Kaitlin Collins jumped in to correct the record shortly after Sellers finished, saying, "She is the first woman of color that is running in this."

"Did @Bakari_Sellers just call Nikki Haley a ’white governor’? What a joke," tweeted Haley’s communications director, Nachama Soloveichik, adding later in a statement that the former ambassador to the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
"won’t cave to the liberal talking heads, and that’s what voters love about her."

Vivek Ramaswamy's vision is America first — even more than Trump
2023-05-05
[NYPOST] While Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
and Ron DeSantis are busy tearing chunks out of each other, there is an unlikely sleeper candidate in the Republican race who is quietly winning hearts and awakening hope across the country with his sunny version of America First.

Vivek Ramaswamy, 37, the woke-busting entrepreneur, son of Indian immigrants colonists from Ohio and the GOP’s first millennial presidential candidate, is rising steadily in opinion polls, just 10 weeks after announcing his candidacy on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show.

In one CBS poll this week, he managed to tie with former VP Mike Pence in third place among likely Republican voters, ahead of establishment figures such as Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's former ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. version of Trump, as "the outsider that doesn’t just talk about draining the swamp," he said in New Hampshire this week. "I’m going to get the job done . . . I see an opportunity to do in 2020 what Ronald Reagan did in 1980, win a landslide election."

He preaches that it is not enough merely to point out the hypocrisies of the left’s "secular religions" of "racial wokeism, gender ideology and the climate cult."

These are just symptoms of a national identity crisis, he says, caused by turning away from the founding values of the country, from success by merit and adherence to the rule of law, values that wooed immigrants colonists like his Indian engineer father and psychiatrist mother to Ohio.

"Faith, patriotism, hard work, family, these things have disappeared," he says, and he wants to "fill that void with a vision of American national identity that dilutes this woke poison."

[NYPOST] Don Lemon, the controversial anchor of "CNN

CNN CEO Chris Licht circulated the news via a memo Monday.

"CNN and Don have parted ways," Licht said. "Don will forever be part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors."

Lemon tweeted Monday that he was informed that CNN fired him via his agent, UTA’s Jay Sures.
"You can't fire me! I'm black and ghey!"
"I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned after 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly," Lemon wrote.

"At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play."

Lemon went on to thank his colleagues.

The anchor had been in hot water for months.

He had been the focus of an expose by Variety, which documented his past misogyny.

The Post also reported that he yelled at co-anchor Kaitlan Collins after a tense on-air segment in December.

On Friday, The Post reported that White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to be interviewed by the anchor.
