According to court papers filed in bankruptcy court in Delaware, Bankman-Fried authorized the transfer of $700 million to K5 entities in 2022, and he leaned on K5’s celebrity and business connections in his effort to obtain rescue financing in the days before FTX went bankrupt in November 2022. As The Post reported in December, Kives — whose celebrity connections include Warren Buffett, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Katy Perry, and Kendall Jenner — stood to lose hundreds of millions of dollars as a result of K5 Global’s business relationship with FTX’s now-defunct investment arm, Alameda Research. Bankman-Fried, who has been indicted on fraud and money laundering charges by the feds, described Kives as "probably, the most connected person I’ve ever met," and "a one-stop shop" for political relationships and celebrity partnerships, according to the complaint. "Turns out the group behind the claim made it up," she said. "We have no clue as to why anyone would do such a thing, but we’ll bring you any updates should they come." The false story, which was initially reported by the New York Post, received air time on The Ingraham Angle and other Fox News shows before it was ultimately debunked. Fox News issued an update earlier on Friday during the 2 p.m. time slot. Correspondent Nate Foy revealed at the time that the network was "now looking into new reports that a veterans advocate misled lawmakers and media outlets about the story and that some homeless men may have been hired to pose as veterans." Let's begin by looking at the Democrats' Platonic ideal of a democracy: California! California is wholly controlled by the Democratic Party. The governor is a Democrat. The lieutenant governor is a Democrat. The attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer are Democrats. All these positions have been held by Democrats since the governorship of Arnold Schwarzenegger (who was a Democrat). The state Senate is just under two-thirds Democratic, while the assembly is more than two-thirds Democratic. Both U.S. senators are Democrats, as are 46 of 53 members of Congress. And what a paradise they've created! For the last several years, with a direct pipeline to the fifth-largest treasury on the planet, California has been waging war on decent people in favor of drug addicts, the mentally ill, criminals, the homeless and transgenders. In the last century, every great thing started in California: surfing, jeans, Disneyland, tax revolts, McDonald's, movies, car culture, the Grateful Dead, right on red turns, Merle Haggard, skateboarding, Apple computer and the last two elected Republican presidents not named "Bush." Big political movements used to begin in California. Proposition 13's cap on property taxes led to President Ronald Reagan and a nationwide tax revolt. Proposition 209's ban on affirmative action was followed by Supreme Court rulings restricting the government's ability to discriminate on the basis of race. California's anti-crime rebellion, including a massive prison expansion and the voters' removal of liberal lunatic Rose Bird from the state's highest court, foreshadowed an anti-crime pushback across the country. |

| SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) ‐ Governor Gavin Newsom dropped a bombshell early in his State of the State address Tuesday, announcing that California would abandon the state's plan for a high-speed rail connection between San Francisco and Los Angeles. During the address, he said that while he respects the vision of his predecessors Gov. Jerry Brown and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, "…there simply isn't a path to get from Sacramento to San Diego, let alone from San Francisco to L.A. I wish there were." Newsom also said the project "…as currently planned, would cost too much and take too long. There's been too little oversight and not enough transparency." Newsom did say that the state would continue work to finish the high-speed rail link between Merced and Bakersfield, dismissing critics who would call it a "train to nowhere" and citing the need to reduce air pollution in the Central Valley and tap into the region's economic potential. |
