How Iran establishes influence in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
2023-07-17
[NPASyria] As soon as Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
entered the eastern region of Syria in 2017 under the pretense of backing the Syrian government in the fight against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), it started to attract Arab tribes in Deir ez-Zor and use several other methods to infiltrate the region.

Iran used the importance of the tribal lineage in this community as a start to infiltrate, such as the Hashemite tribes that have a historical connection to the Ahl al-Bayt, or the descendants of Prophet Muhammad, such as the al-Baggara, Mashahda, and al-Marasima tribes and all of them backed Iranian-affiliated militias.

North Press, through a network of field and military sources in areas held by Iranian-backed militias, obtained information about certain figures and over 10 tribal military militias formed by Iran.

TRIBAL MILITIAS
Baqir Brigade, backed by Iran, is led by Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir and his children, who formed the Tribe Lions militia, with the majority of its bully boyz coming from al-Baggara. The most prominent leaders are Abdullah Younes al-Sattam, Khalaf Younes al-Sattam, Fawaz al-Rashid, and Nasser Awad al-Sadoun, aka Abu Sayaf.

According to sources, these military leaders are from the al-Baggara tribe and are close to Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir.

The majority of the bully boyz in the Baqir Brigade are from the al-Shuwait tribe and are numbered between 1,500-2,000 krazed killers. This militia is not known for participating in battles even though its presence is confirmed in the towns of Sabikhan and al-Boleel, according to sources. The sources suggested that their work is limited to protecting headquarters and smuggling across the Euphrates River.

Iran also formed Haras al-Qura (village guards) militia in the town of al-Boleel and Sabikhan in the east of the city of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates River. They are directly under the command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and are led by Iranian krazed killers, but the local leaders are unknown.

The Liwa Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas is deployed in the city of al-Mayadin and surrounding areas, led by Adnan al-Soud, aka Abu al-Abbas. The militia has about 4,000 Syrian krazed killers, mostly from local tribes.

The al-Sayida Zaynab militia, led by Mo’ayed al-Duwayhi, is deployed in the city of al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor. The militia consists of bully boyz from multiple nationalities, in addition to about 1,000 local bully boyz from the tribes of al-Qalyin (Al-Rahabi) and al-Busaraya.

The al-Sheikh forces militia in al-Mayadin, led by Akram al-Sheikh, are numbered about 200 krazed killers, a mixture of members from the tribes of al-Jihesh and al-Qalyin (Al-Rahabi).

The Base 47 militia affiliated with IRGC is deployed in Abu Kamal and its countryside, led by Abu Issa al-Mashhadani and Youssef al-Hamdan from the town al-Sukariya. They are numbered about 1,000 krazed killers.

The Liwa Hashemiyoun militia are under the command of the Base 47 militia, and follow orders of Abu Issa al-Mashhadani and are led by Haj Ragheb al-Mashhadani.

The Liwa al-Hussein militia is deployed in the town of al-Ayyash, east of Deir ez-Zor, and is led by Fayez al-Jad’an. All the militia’s bully boyz are from the tribe of al-Uqaydat.

The Usoud al-Uqaydat (al-Uqaydat Lions) militia is led by Muhammad al-Shuwaiti and consists of about 300 krazed killers. The headquarters of the militia is located on al-Arba’in street in the city of al-Mayadin. There are other headquarters in the southern desert of al-Mayadin. Most of its bully boyz are from the tribe of al-Shuwait.

The Liwa al-Muntaser militia was recently formed in the city of Abu Kamal, backed by the so-called Farhan al-Marsoumi, who is closely linked to the IRGC. This militia’s mission is to accompany smuggling trucks. There are 300 bully boyz in the militia, mostly from the tribes of al-Marasima, al-Bobadran, and Mashahda.

The Iyal al-Shaib militia is present in the towns of al-Suwayeiya and al-Heri, east of Deir ez-Zor, and is affiliated with the IRGC. The krazed killers’ number and leader is unknown, but they are mostly from the tribe of al-Uqaydat backed by Sheikh of al-Hassoun tribe, Ayman Daham al-Dandel.

INFLUENTIAL FIGURES
Iran first began attracting tribes and forming tribal armed militias through the houses of Al al-Reja and Yassin al-Ma’youf in the town of Hatlah, northeast of Deir ez-Zor. According to sources, the two houses receive support from Iran.

Iran attracted several businessmen in Deir ez-Zor, and several figures made a fortune as a result of working in smuggling of architecture and drugs.

Local sources said that Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir, Sheikh of the al-Baggara tribe who formed the Baqir Brigade in cooperation with members of his tribe present in areas under Iran’s control, is one of the influential figures in the regions.

The sources added that Farhan al-Marsoumi and his brothers Khallouf, Youssef, and Hassan, who contributed to the purchase of real estate in the areas of Abu Kamal and its countryside, as well as in the countryside of Damascus, were also well-known influential figures among Iranian militias.

They mentioned other figures such as Mehanna al-Fayad, sheikh of the Busaraya tribe, Ahmad al-Shammari, sheikh of the al-Boleel tribe, Ala al-Labad, sheikh of al-Busaba tribe, and Ayman Reja al-Dandal, sheikh of al-Hassoun tribe.

U.S. Says French Strike Likely Killed al-Qaida Ally Belmokhtar
2016-11-29
[AnNahar] Algerian myrmidon Mokhtar Belmokhtar, one of al-Qaeda's key allies in North Africa, is thought to have been killed in a French air strike, a U.S. official said Monday.

The official, speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity, confirmed a report in the Wall Street Journal that U.S. intelligence had helped La Belle France target the jihadist.

Belmokhtar, notorious commander of an al-Qaeda-linked faction of the al-Murabitoun jihadist group, has been reported killed on several previous occasions.

But the official told AFP the latest strike is believed finally to have killed the elusive one-eyed myrmidon, known for kidnapping European citizens for ransom.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, citing experts and unnamed officials, the strike reflects closer U.S. and French intelligence cooperation.

Belmokhtar became one of the world's most desperados in January 2013 after a spectacular assault on the In Amenas gas plant in Algeria left at least 38 hostages dead.

This year, his group grabbed credit for an attack on luxury a hotel in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
that killed another 20 people, most of them foreigners.

And reports he had arrived in Libya have fuelled concern that jihadists will take advantage of the political turmoil there to establish a base of operations.

Washington put a $5 million bounty on the 44-year-old's head, dubbing him the leader of the Khaled Abu al-Abbas Brigade, also known as the "Signatories in Blood."

In May last year, he insisted al-Murabitoun remained loyal to al-Qaeda, despite another of its leaders pledging allegiance the Islamic State

group.

Belmokhtar was born on June 1, 1972 in the ancient desert city of Ghardaia, 370 miles (600 kilometers) south of the Algerian capital.

- 'Mister Marlboro' -
In a rare 2007 interview he said he joined the mujahideen rebels fighting the Soviet forces in Afghanistan in 1991 when he was barely 19 years old.

In Afghanistan, he claimed, he lost an eye to shrapnel and had his first contact with the group that became al-Qaeda, eventually rising to a senior position.

He returned to Algeria in 1993, a year after the Algiers government sparked civil war by cancelling an election that an Islamist party was poised to win.

He joined the Armed Islamic Group (GIA), and thrived thanks to his intimate knowledge of the remote deserts of southern Algeria, northern Mali and Niger.

In 1998 the "Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat
... now known as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb...
" (GSPC) broke from the GIA and Belmokhtar went with them.

Nine years later, GSPC formally adopted the global ideology of Saudi-born jihadist kingpin the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now sometimes referred to as Mister Bones...
and renamed itself al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

Belmokhtar was best known as a smuggler, known by some as "Mister Marlboro" for trafficking cigarettes.

But in 2013 he emerged as the hardline leader of the "Signatories in Blood," blamed for attacks across the Sahara and the Sahel in Algeria, Mali, Chad and Niger.

Algeria: Al-Qaeda's North Africa wing suspected to be behind deadly suicide bombing
2008-10-02
(SomaliNet) According to a statement posted on the Internet on Wednesday, Al-Qaeda's north Africa wing said it was behind a deadly suicide bombing in Algeria on Sunday. On Sunday, a car bomb exploded in the Takdemt district near the coastal town of Dellys, 100 km east of Algiers, killing three people and wounding six.

The group, which calls itself al-Qaeda organisation in the Islamic Maghreb, identified the bomber as Abu al-Abbas Abd al-Rahman and said his car was laden with 600 kg of an unspecified explosive material.

The statement, posted on an Islamist website, said the bombing had targeted army barracks. "We bring (the Muslim Ummah) the glad tidings of the mujahideens' victories and their massacre of the apostate slaves of America," the statement said.

Since adopting the al-Qaeda name early in 2007, the group, previously known as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), has claimed several attacks including twin suicide bombings of UN offices and a court building in Algiers in December 2007 which killed 41 people. Algeria: Mokhtar Belmokhtar Ready To Surrender, Report
2007-04-27
(AKI) - The leader of the Organisation of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Mokhtar Belmokhtar, who is in charge of the area of Algerian Sahara is ready to surrender, according to a report in Algerian daily al-Shuruq published Thursday. The paper, which quoted unnamed informed sources, said authorities are negotiating directly with the family of Mokhtar considered the Emir of the so-called Area Number Five, southern Algeria.
"I seen wot happened to Samir Saioud. I surrender!"
Belmokhtar, whose nom de guerre is Abu al-Abbas or Louar, was reportedly close to Hassan Hattab, the former leader of the now defunct Salafite Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), which changed its name to Organisation of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in January after pledging allegiance to the international terrorist network of Osama bin Laden. Hattab has surrendered under a national reconciliation plan offered by Algerian authorities to end a brutal civil war in the 1990s in which an estimated 200,000 people have died.

Belmokhtar is allegedly in northern Mali, living with an Arab tribe, the al-Berrasha, also involved in the mediations which are taking place in the area of Ain Khalil, 35 kilometres from Mali's border with Algeria. The terror suspect is reportedly demanding a passport and the cancellation of all charges against him, including a sentence to death, in exchange for his surrender. The 11 April attacks in Algiers in which 30 people died allegedly led Belmokhtar to distance himself from al-Qaeda.

6 Jordanian al-Qaeda bios released by Mujahideen Shura
2006-06-02
A 21-page booklet documenting the stories of six Jordanian martyrs in Iraq and attributed to writers from the Information Department of the Mujahideen Shura Council, Abu al-Bara’a al-Sharqi, Abu Abdullah al-Maqdasi and Abu Ayoob al-Najari, was recently distributed amongst several jihadist forums. A preface emphasizing jihad as a religious duty, incumbent upon all Muslims to protect Islamic lands with their souls, money, and progeny, leads into a Table of Contents listing the names of the martyrs: Abu Hammam al-Urduni, Abu al-Bara’a al-Urduni, Abu Radwan al-Urduni, Abu al-Abbas al-Urduni, Abu al-Waleed al-Urduni, and Abu Yihye al-Urdini. The descriptions of the men are in similar fashion to past martyr’s biographies produced by the group, presenting their origin, faith in Allah that lit their jihad spirit, and the location of their death.

Coming from myriad backgrounds, one martyr a lawyer, another a martial artist, an engineer, and a former Christian, each man was assigned a task within the al-Qaeda structure that reflected their aptitude, despite their want for martyrdom in the suicide brigades, al-Bara’a bin Malek and Abu Dagana al-Ansari. Abu Hammam, a second degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do, is noted by the biographers of having a wife and daughter, and traveling to Iraq from Jordan for jihad, arriving in al-Qaim. There he was placed in charge of physical training and martial arts for the mujahideen, and eventually joined Omar Brigade to assassinate “spies and collaborators”. He ultimately died in al-Yusefiya in a confrontation with American forces. Another martyr, Abu Radwan al-Urduni, the lawyer, is said to have lived in America for some time and following the September 11, 2001 attacks, became a fervent supporter of religious duties. He traveled to Jordan to spread calls to jihad, receiving inspiration from the books of Abu Muhammad al-Maqdasi. Like other members he went to Iraq and enlisted in the martyrdom groups, but was accepted into it and eventually carried out an operation “deep in the territories” of the enmy, purportedly killing 150 soldiers and wounding 300.

The stories of Abu al-Bara’a, Abu al-Waleed, Abu al-Abbas, and Abu Yihye tell of similar devotion to jihad, the latter of which is said to have resided in Canada for six months in an attempt to travel to Chechnya. Some of the martyrs participated in recording and distributing computer encoded video of the group’s operations, Abu Yihye publishing a recorded message in English threatening Americans, which was delivered to an American base in al-Qaim and purportedly caused great fear and anxiety. Individual strength, desire, and capabilities of the men are described, not only to document their lives, but according to the authors in the preface, to give Muslims thought as they consider jihad or actively participate.

Arabia
Another al-Qaeda group forms in Saudi Arabia
2005-10-18
A new al-Qaeda affiliate in Saudi Arabia announced its presence via the jihadi forums on October 13. A declaration by the "Echo of Tuwayq Brigades in al-Zulfa," dated October 9, was released on the al-Tajdeed forum, announcing that the Brigades were subordinated to the Organization of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The declaration, authored by Abu Hajir al-Zulfi, is intended as an "introduction" and limited itself to declaring six principal objectives: support for the Muslims' battle with the enemies of God; clarification of its religious aims; refutation of Saudi and American propaganda; guidance on the nature of the true faith and publication of mujahideen activities and statements. A sixth objective appears to be a specific act of vengeance to be carried out imminently.

The group, which takes its name from the Jabal Tuwayq escarpment that runs north to south through the area of Riyadh, declared its allegiance to Mulla Omar, Osama bin Laden and Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi. It also pledged its loyalty to the 36 members of the latest "most wanted" list issued by the Saudi authorities on June 29, among them were three natives of the al-Zulfa region: Fahd Farraj al-Juwayr, Abd al-Rahman al-Mut'ib and Ibrahim al-Mutayyir. Forthcoming media releases include a manifesto by Shaykh Abu al-Abbas al-Zulfawi, an interview with Abd al-Rahman al-Mut'ib and a publication, "Tuwayq Echo," on doctrinal, educational, historical and cultural matters (www.tajdeed.org.uk).

From subsequent postings, the news of this new formation was welcomed--but also accompanied by frustration at the relative lack of jihadi activity in the Peninsula. The three members on the most wanted list are considered to be "second-tier" militants who had worked under more senior operatives, mostly those on the previous list of 26 that have already been killed or captured. Al-Juwayr is believed to have been involved in clashes between Saudi forces and gunmen in January in al-Zulfi, located about 300 km northwest of Riyadh, which resulted in the killing of four gunmen and injury to three Saudi security personnel.
