Gangbanger claims he had 'no other choice' as he's sentenced for sparking mass shooting at NYC block party
[NYPOST] The gangbanger who fatally shot a man at a Brooklyn block party — sparking a shootout between rival groups that left 11 innocent bystanders maimed — claimed he had "no other choice" as he was slammed with more than three decades behind bars for the bloodshed on Wednesday.

Kyle Williams, 23, deflected blame for the fatal shooting of Jason Pagan, 38, at the Old Timer’s Day celebration on July 27, 2019, which prosecutors said ignited the shootout at the Brownsville Playground.

"There’s no way of going around it — me and my brother’s life were in serious danger. It left me no other choice than to react," Williams — identified by sources as a Bloods gang member — said in Brooklyn Supreme Court before he was sentenced to 32 1/2 years to life in prison.

"I honestly believe faced with the things I was facing anyone in my predicament would have done the same exact thing," he said in a scripted five-minute speech to the court.

Williams — who pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
in November 2019 — was convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment on April 20 following a jury trial.

He offered brief condolences to Pagan’s family on Wednesday before spending most of his speech rambling on about how his actions were justified because he had felt threatened.

Bat-wielding kids attack San Francisco moms, nannies outside school in wealthy neighborhood
[FoxNews] Children wielding baseball bats are reportedly attacking and robbing helpless mothers and nannies in a wealthy the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

neighborhood known for its young families.

Noe Valley, which is also known locally as "stroller alley" because of the many families with young children who live there, experienced 11 phone robberies last week, which authorities believe are linked to a gang of youths who have also lately been assaulting women with bats while they pick up their kids from school, according to the Telegraph.

Two women were reportedly assaulted in the neighborhood last week by a youth who allegedly hit one of the women with a baseball bat and the other one in the face.

Police reportedly arrested a minor last week related to the phone thefts and are continuing to investigate.

Rafael Mandelman, a member of the city's governing San Francisco Board of Supervisors, attributed the crime among children in the city in part to the upending they experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Telegraph.
Ahah. COVID. That was my guess, too.
"I think, what happened with kids not being in school, I think there may be something going on with that, that we’re going to be experiencing for a while," he said.

"Those couple of years [when] school was erratic or nonexistent, where everyone was under stress, parents and caregivers were under stress. That was probably impacting vulnerable communities
Yep. Vulnerable communities. Hitting people with baseball bats is a tradition.
more anyway. Sociologically.
Not criminologically though.

but I would not be surprised if we are going to be experiencing the lingering impacts of that for a generation," Mandelman added.
Me neither. Nothing you can do about it. Why, I just saw a six-year-old thumping a nanny with a Louisville slugger just the other day.
Violent crimes such as rapes and assaults have remained relatively stable in San Francisco over the last four years, according to recent data, while murders have increased slightly. Property crimes, on the other hand, have risen sharply since 2019.

Joe Rogan slams 'mentally ill' Dylan Mulvaney after trans influencer spoke out on Bud Light fiasco
[NYPOST] Joe Rogan once again took a shot at Dylan Stench of Death Mulvaney
...the transexual influencer who single-handedly trashed a major American beer brand owned by a Belgian company, tainted Maybelline and Condé Nast, and then demanded that anybody who called him/her/it a man be arrested...
, calling the trans influencer "mentally ill" and an "attention whore" after the social media star broke her silence about the Bud Light boycott.

Rogan made the comment during Thursday’s episode of the Spotify podcast "The Joe Rogan Experience," which featured an interview with rapper-actor Ice Cube.

The two-and-a-half-hour conversation between Rogan and Ice Cube eventually touched on the Bud Light controversy.

"The only time [capital] respects opinions is when people boycott s—t and it works like this Bud Light thing, and now people are like, ’Don’t do that again,'" Rogan said, alluding to the steep drop in sales of the brand since Mulvaney started touting the beer on her social media accounts on April 1.

"Who controls Bud Light? That’s the question," Ice Cube replied.

"Why would they make a dumb decision like that? Are they trying to ruin Bud Light? Are they trying to take down some of our most iconic American brands?"

Rogan blamed pressure on corporations to adopt so-called “ESG” — environmental, social and governance standards — adding that Bud Light’s actions proved it was out of touch with “regular people.”

“Take a brand like Bud Light,” Rogan said.

“It’s for blue-collar drinking people and they like to watch football and drink Bud Light and then all of a sudden you have this mentally ill person who’s just an attention whore.”

Rogan then referred to the viral video of Kid Rock using an assault rifle to shoot cases of Bud Light.

“Once Kid Rock shoots your cans, you’ve got real problems,” Rogan said.

...The thing is though that InBev DOESN'T CARE. It should have been clear at least a month back that their plan is to ride this out. So Bud Light goes under - big deal. They will still be the biggest and most profitable beer manufacturer on Earth, and after everybody moves on to a new issue they'll start making it again under another name.

They haven't learned anything.

China-Japan-Koreas
Fukushima Radioactive Water Into Pacific Ocean Will Be Safe: IAEA
[Epoch Times] Japan’s plans to release radioactive water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean are consistent with international safety standards, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has concluded.

The IAEA also stated that "controlled, gradual discharges of the treated water to the sea" as currently planned by Japan’s government and the plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), would have a "negligible radiological impact on people and the environment."

While the water stored at the FDNPS has been treated through an "Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS)" to remove "almost all" radioactivity, it still remains tainted by tritium, a rare and radioactive isotope of hydrogen that can bond with oxygen to make water, making it difficult to fully remove.
Tritium is used with phosphorus in self-powered lighting devices which are used for night illumination of firearm sights, watches, exit signs, map lights, navigational compasses, etc.
Before the water is discharged into the Pacific Ocean, it’ll be diluted by Japanese authorities to reduce the tritium to below regulatory standards, the IAEA stated. Multiple nuclear power plants throughout the world regularly release wastewater containing tritium above the concentration of TEPCO’s treated water, according to reports.

In June, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin called the plan "extremely selfish and irresponsible," saying that the ocean is "humanity’s common good, not Japan’s private sewer."
Then he caught COVID-19 and expired. But the world remains China's sewer.

#1  Before we go bugnutz ....(Wiki):
"... Beta particles from tritium can penetrate only about 6.0 millimetres (0.24 in) of air, and they are incapable of passing through the dead outermost layer of human skin." a Beta particle is a fast moving electron, normally these would produce X-rays but...
"...The low energy of tritium's radiation makes it difficult to detect tritium-labeled compounds except by using liquid scintillation counting." Really, really slow (for fission products) electrons.
...And Tritium has a 12 year half-life so it isn't going to stay in the environment very long. And finally, dosage is the question and there is a lot of water in the Pacific Ocean to dilute it in.

I would be much more concerned about what chemicals the CCP's industrial plants are dumping in the their rivers that end up in the oceans.

China's Latest Move Could Send Electronic Prices Skyrocketing For Americans
[Daily Callar] China’s announcement that it will implement export controls on two specific minerals could have drastic and far reaching consequences for American consumers as geopolitical tension between Washington and Beijing mounts.

Chinese officials announced export limits on germanium and gallium Monday after U.S. officials opted in October 2022 to impose restrictions on the export of advanced computer chips to China. The Chinese export limits could spike prices for consumers in the U.S. as the two minerals are essential for manufacturing high-speed computer chips, military equipment, solar panels, fiber optic cables and other key technologies, according to CNBC.

The two minerals are essential to almost all modern technology that utilizes optical or radio components, and many of these devices would not be able to operate without the minerals, according to Electropages. A substantial reduction in the available global supply of the minerals could make the goods that depend on their availability more expensive for consumers.

Fears are mounting that China may escalate its export controls to include other strategically valuable rare earth minerals as the relationship between Beijing and Washington continues to sour, according to Forbes. Manufacturers commonly use other strategically important rare earth minerals to produce smartphones, electric vehicles and wind turbines, according to Reuters.

India-Pakistan
FIA arrests 5 Pakistanis over 'illegal emigration' to Israel
[Dawn] The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said it had arrested five Paks on Wednesday on allegations of "illegal emigration" to Israel, which Islamabad does not recognise as a state.

All of the arrests were made in Pakistain, but scarce information is available regarding the timing of the suspects’ purported return from Israel.

The FIA said in a tweet that its Mirpurkhas crime circle carried out the arrests, stating that the suspects had been working in Tel Aviv as "helpers and car washers".

Separately, FIA Sindh (Zone-II) Director Abdul Hameed Bhutto told Dawn.com that all five of the arrested men were residents of Mirpurkhas who "travelled to Israel with the help of an agent, said to be an Israeli citizen".

The FIA statement on Twitter said that each of the suspects paid the agent Rs300,000 to Rs400,000 to enter Israel while Bhutto stated that they paid over Rs2m to the agent to get employment in Israel.

Their arrests were a result of an inquiry initiated by the FIA on the basis of a strategic analysis report (SAR) regarding foreign remittances, Bhutto said.

"By travelling to a country that was not recognised, the suspects had violated multiple laws.

"FIRs (first information reports) have been registered against them on account of their illegal emigration to Israel, despite knowing that their passports do not validate their travel to or stay in the country for the purpose of employment," he added.

The official further said that the FIA had invoked Sections 8 (regulation of emigration) and 17(1) (punishment for unlawful emigration) of the Emigration Ordinance, 1917, Sections 3 (prohibition of departure from Pakistain without passport, etc) and 4 (Punishment for contravention of section 3, etc) of the Passport Act 1974 and Section 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment) of the Pakistain Penal Code in cases against the suspect.

Dawn.com was able to access one of the FIRs, which said that the FIA’s Mirpurkhas branch recently initiated an inquiry on the basis of an SAR regarding outward and inward foreign remittances concerning individuals living in Mirpurkhas, who were allegedly involved in receiving remittances from Israel.

The suspect in this case, "was desirous to proceed to Israel for the purpose of employment," the FIR added, adding that he paid an agent — an Israeli national and his relative — Rs300,000 for "illegal emigration" to Israel.

In exchange for this amount, the FIR said, the agent arranged the suspect’s ticket and other documents for the travel.

It added that the suspect departed from the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
airport for Kenya on November 15, 2016 for Kenya "on the strength of Pak passport" and entered Kenya "on the strength of a visit visa".

The FIR further stated that the suspect left Kenya on November 17, 2016 and "proceeded to Israel through the Jordon Airport along with agent ... and took illegal entry into the Tel Aviv city of Israel for the purpose of employment, despite knowing the fact that Pak passport is not valid for Israel as Israel is non-recognised state by the Government of Pakistain".

According to the FIR, the suspect worked as a car washer in Israel, "in clear violation of the Emigration Ordinance 1979, and returned back to Pakistain on December 18, 2019 on the strength of the same Pak passport using the route of Jordan, Dubai and then Karachi".

He returned "after working there (Israel) for about four years by way of illegal emigration," the FIR read.

It added that during his travel and stay in Israel, the suspect remained a holder of the Pak passport, "which was not valid for Israel in violation of the Passport Act of 1974".

"The accused person ... while working in Israel, used to send his salaries in the form of foreign remittances through the Western Union of Pakistain post office, Mirpurkhas, which were accordingly received by his relatives residing in Mirpurkhas, Sindh," the FIR stated.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, Gloria again dodged the questing tip of the giant frog's tongue and ran for her life...
an FIA spokesperson told Dawn.com that the FIA had identified a total of eight suspects from Pakistain who were working in Israel and three of them were still on the lam.

Anglican Church of Canada finalizes removal of prayer wishing for conversion of Jews
[IsraelTimesJ Ratifying a decision from 3 years ago, church will replace prayer with one calling for ’Reconciliation with the Jews’; local rabbi hails ’milestone in Anglican-Jewish relations’

The Anglican Church of Canada has voted to remove from its prayer books a prayer calling for the conversion of the Jews.

The decision, made Friday during a church convening in Calgary, ratifies a move first announced three years ago to replace the prayer with one calling for reconciliation with the Jews. At the time, the Anglican bishop of Quebec said the change would help the church "acknowledge and repent" its "participation in antisemitism" and help it to "stop singling out Jews as a target for our evangelistic efforts, and to assume a humble and reconciliatory stance with our Jewish elders in the faith."

The conference last week was the first time the church’s General Synod, its official governing conference, met since the 2019 resolution.

"We commend the General Synod for this important decision," said Rabbi Adam Stein of Congregation Beth Israel in Vancouver, in a statement on behalf of the Canadian Rabbinic Caucus and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.

"Authentic interfaith dialogue requires respect," said Stein, who presented to church leaders in 2019. "Any attempt by one to convert the other is the antithesis of respect. Changing this prayer represents a milestone in Anglican-Jewish relations and invites Anglicans to assume a reconciliatory stance with the Jewish community."

The decision comes amid a spate of efforts to strip antisemitic elements from Christian liturgy and practices. In December, citing a rise in antisemitism including among self-described Christian nationalists, the Council of Centers on Jewish-Christian Relations urged Christian churches to scrutinize their own practices and change those that can fuel hatred against Jews.

The group’s letter followed initiatives in some of the world’s largest Christian denominations to address antisemitism in their liturgy and history. In 2022, the Episcopal Church announced that it would review pre-Easter readings that blame "the Jews" for the death of Jesus and offered an alternative to them.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
Pope Francis
...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess...
in 2021 restricted the use of the Latin Mass, a traditionalist liturgy that includes a prayer for the conversion of Jews, out of concern that it was being used by those who did not accept the Catholic Church’s 1965 statement declaring that the Jews were not responsible for Jesus’ death; he has condemned antisemitism.

And the Church of England, from which the Anglican Church of Canada spun off, recently apologized to Jews for the antisemitic laws that led to their expulsion 800 years ago.

The Anglican Church of Canada’s new prayer, "For Reconciliation with the Jews," was written in consultation with the Canadian Rabbinic Caucus, according to the resolution to remove the "For the Conversion of the Jews" prayer. A different prayer for Jewish conversion to Christianity was removed from the Canadian church’s Easter liturgy in the 1990s.

#1  Two surprises. 1.4% of Canadians are Jewish. I never really thought of the possibility. It’s not like Marcel Leibovitz was ever a winger for the Maple Leafs. The other surprise was that Canadian Anglicans still pray. My dad once told me that Canadian culture lags the Us by a decade.
