#1  Yeah, it's sick and perverted, but did he lay a finger on any child? Arrested for just having photos and videos? Who gives a rat's a$$? Unless he laid a hand on one child, I couldn't care less what he watches in private, sick fook that he is.

#2  One has to wonder if it was files from his representation. Or was it the child traffickers getting back at him.

#3  Hmmm. One one hand, people who are molested as children often turn out messed up, so the kiddie pix may not be surprising.

On the other, the fact that the FBI is involved makes me suspect a setup, purely as a gut reaction. That they needed to kick down his door sounds like a bid for attention which only makes me more sceptical.

#5  I blame these incidents on inadequate signage. In the workplace there are signs that tell you where you need to wear safety glasses and or earplugs. This poor young woman has probably spent a significant amount of time on college campus where you can accost and threaten even a federal judge without consequences. An airplane, on the other hand, is a place where the norms that she is accustomed to do not apply. On an airplane you have to obey authority and treat others with respect. She has no reference for that type of behavior. It’s like the poor garage attendant in NYC that thought he could defend himself from assassination. Our society is confusing, I propose that zones where different standards apply be marked with higher quality signage.

Train derails 25 cars in Montana, spilling unconfirmed contents
Mayor Pete did not respond to request for comment.
[FoxNews] At least 25 cars derailed from a train in Montana on Sunday, spilling their contents onto the ground and into a nearby body of water.

First responders say there is no threat to the public, but there has yet to be confirmation about what the affected containers were carrying.

Montana Rail Link, which owns the railroad, is aware of the situation, but the company that owns the train has yet to be identified, according to NBC Montana.

The Sanders County Sheriff's Office did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News Digital.

There have not been any reported injuries from the crash.

The Montana crash comes less than a week after 70-car train hauling hazardous materials derailed in North Dakota.

In that incident, a Canadian Pacific train derailed around 11:15 p.m. roughly a mile southeast of Wyndmere in Richland County, the company said in a statement. No injuries were reported. Officials said 31 of the 70 cars derailed, some carrying hazardous materials, and crews identified a leak of liquid asphalt. No fires were caused by the derailment.

The cleanup was expected to last between seven and 10 days, local reports said. So far, six days have passed.

Sunday's derailment is only the latest example of a new focus on train derailments in the U.S. The issue was thrust into Americans' minds earlier this year when a Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, spilling toxic chemicals.

Officials chose to dispose of the chemicals with a controlled burn, causing a massive plume of smoke and requiring the nearby area to be temporarily evacuated.

Remember when Gillette tried to do it, and got handed their corporate backsides for their trouble - and this was a company that had leaned into its masculine identity for more than a century, and within living memory sponsored professional boxing. (And see Barbasol's hysterically funny reply.)

And keep in mind also that the nice people who make Bud Lite don't care what their drinkers think: Anheuser-Busch hasn't existed as an independent company for some years now; it's owned by a Belgian outfit.

‘Gone With The Wind' Publisher Calls Book ‘Harmful'
[Daily Caller] Book publisher Pan Macmillan noted in its latest 2022 edition of "Gone With The Wind" that the classic novel has "racist" depictions and "problematic elements including the romanticisation of a shocking era in our history and the horrors of slavery."

The novel, which takes place in 1936, is about how the North’s invasion of the South during the Civil War threatens Scarlett O’Hara’s way of life. The statement says that while the book publisher has obtained and will not change the original text by author, Margaret Mitchell, the publisher does not endorse the book, The Telegraph reported.

#5  In Texas, you may also be justified in using force to pursue and recover your personal property. Penal Code § 9.41 also extends the right to use force in defense of property when:

You are unlawfully dispossessed of your land or tangible property;
You reasonably believe that force is immediately necessary in fresh pursuit to reenter the land or recover your property; and
The other person had no right to the property and/or acquired such property using force, threat, or fraud.

This one is touchy as the guy got out of sight however it does seem like it might still be considered hot pursuit given the timeframe of the owners attempts to recover it.

Biden admin moving forward with light bulb bans in coming weeks
[Fox] LED light bulbs 'currently cost more than incandescent bulbs and are inferior,' consumer groups said in letter to U.S. Department of Energy

The Biden administration is preparing to implement a sweeping nationwide ban on commonly used light bulbs as part of its energy efficiency and climate agenda.

The regulations, which prohibit retailers from selling incandescent light bulbs, were finalized by the Department of Energy (DOE) in April 2022 and are slated to go into effect on Aug. 1, 2023. The DOE will begin full enforcement of the ban on that date, but it has already urged retailers to begin transitioning away from the light bulb type and, in recent months, begun issuing warning notices to companies.

"The lighting industry is already embracing more energy efficient products, and this measure will accelerate progress to deliver the best products to American consumers and build a better and brighter future," Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said last year.

According to the DOE announcement, the regulations will save consumers an estimated $3 billion per year on utility bills and cut carbon emissions by 222 million metric tons over the next three decades....
We sure have been saving a LOT of money during the OBiden Administration, haven't we?
Interestingly, non-incandescent lightbulbs put out a significantly narrower spectrum of light than old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. Even more interesting, especially for those concerned about the recent rash of mass murders and the radicalization of our most vulnerable, ongoing exposure to less than full spectrum light drives increased anxiety and depression. The best thing of all, of course, is spending a lot of time outside in the sunshine, but that’s a separate question.

#13  With an incandescent bulb emitting 90% of its current as heat it isn't very efficient. Because of the long hot Oklahoma summer season I did not like paying a higher air conditioning bill for my light... During the short winter months the extra warmth was helpful. So the technologies have trade offs.
Posted by: magpie || 04/03/2023 13:50 Comments || Top||

#14  Nobody ever mentions that incandescent lightbulbs din indoor use do not waste energy except in the Summer. The energy supposedly wasted becomes heat, and contributes to heating the premises Thus,, in winter the energy supposely wasted must be replaced by gas or electric or wood or coal heatinr. This cuts considerably toward reducing the savings involved. It probably reduces it from what it would be if this fact were ignored, by a approximately two thirds.
And if anyone would like to change lightbulbs during daylight savings changes there would be no wastage at all from such bulbs.

Poll: Most Willing to Stop Purchasing Chinese Products to Combat Aggression from China
[Breitbart] Most likely general election voters are willing to stop purchasing Chinese products in order to combat aggression from China and lessen U.S. dependence on Chinese manufacturing, a Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group survey released this week found.

The survey asked respondents, "Would you be willing to stop purchasing Chinese products as a means to help counter the aggressive actions of the Chinese Communist Party, and lessen America’s dependence on Chinese manufacturing?"

78.7 percent said "yes," they would be willing to stop purchasing Chinese products, compared to ten percent who said they are not willing and 11.4 percent who remain unsure.

There is bipartisan consensus on the matter, as 74.2 percent of Democrats, 92.1 percent of Republicans, and 67.1 percent of independents said they would be willing to stop purchasing Chinese products to both lessen America’s dependence on Chinese manufacturing and to stand up against aggression from the communist country.

The survey was taken March 20-22, 2023, among 1,081 likely general election voters and has a +/- 2.9 percent margin of error.

In February, the U.S. House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party held a hearing on the growing threat of China featuring several witnesses, including former national security adviser H.R. McMaster.

Somaliland accuses Puntland of invading LasAnod after deadly clashes
[ShabelleMedia] The commander of the 12th division of the Somaliland Army, Gen. Faisal Abdi Botaan spoke about Saturday’s heavy fighting on the outskirts of LasAnod city.

Botaan said that Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
and bully boyz led by an official named Abdi Madobe attacked Somaliland military bases from 3 directions early in the morning and they were repelled.

Continuing, he added that the people of Lasanod did not invade Somaliland but Puntland and bully boyz are the ones who want to destabilize the region and capture new territory.

"The people of Lasanod lived peacefully for 15 years under Somaliland control," said Faisal, warning Puntland and the Somali government of the consequences of their meddling.

Chinese spy balloon gathered intelligence from sensitive U.S. military sites, despite U.S. efforts to block it
[NBC News from Daily Mail link] The Chinese spy balloon that flew across the U.S. was able to gather intelligence from several sensitive American military sites, despite the Biden administration’s efforts to block it from doing so, according to two current senior U.S. officials and one former senior administration official.

The three officials said China could have gathered much more intelligence from sensitive sites if not for the administration’s efforts to move around potential targets and obscure the balloon’s ability to pick up their electronic signals by stopping them from broadcasting or emitting signals.

Charles Schwab Loses $47 Billion in Market Value in One Month
[The Street] A disastrous month of March is what Charles Schwab has just experienced.

In the Westlake, Texas-based financial company, the month that just ended can be considered a real disaster.

An avalanche of bad news fell on the firm. The stock fell 33% between Feb. 28 and March 31. At the end of February, Charles Schwab's shares were trading at around $77.92. A month later, the price fell to $52.38.

The difference translates to more than $47 billion in market capitalization wiped out in just one month.

According to Bloomberg News, this is Charles Schwab's worst month since the October 1987 stock market crash, known as Black Monday. That day, the Dow Jones index lost 508 points, a decline of 22.6% and the largest daily decline in a stock market index at the time. Only the drop by 76% of the Icelandic stock market in 2008 would exceed this record.

What do YOU OWN that the Local. State or Feds do not tax, and will be taken or you placed in jail, if you don't pay?

Before you say AIR, remember the indirect taxes for the Clean Air Act.

The DC Swamp would do well to remember, the America Revolution was started over a small tax on tea.

UBS takeover of Credit Suisse under investigation in Switzerland
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Swiss prosecutors launch investigation into UBS takeover of Credit Suisse

The Swiss Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into possible violations committed during the takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the department.

"The Swiss Attorney General's Office has taken note of the media coverage of the events of the past few days related to Credit Suisse and has assessed the situation with all the internal departments involved," the press service said.

It is noted that the department has established contacts with national and cantonal authorities, and also issued orders to conduct an investigation.

The press service added that the Prosecutor General's Office has created a monitoring system to take immediate action in the event of circumstances related to its field of activity.

As REGNUM reported , the assistance to the UBS bank from the Swiss government will amount to $118 billion. The money was allocated to buy out the Credit Suisse bank, which will be absorbed after it has found itself in a crisis situation. The decision was made at a council meeting on March 29. The money will be transferred to UBS in two credits.

Credit Suisse was founded in 1856. The bank, which operates in 50 countries, employs about 48 thousand people. According to the Swiss Central Bank, UBS will acquire Credit Suisse for 3 billion francs ($3.2 billion).

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli beats disabled man with his own crutch after hitting his car
road rage.
[Jpost] The 21-year-old Israeli resident of Bat Yam can be seen beating a man with his own crutch and leaving him lying on the street as cars continued to drive past.

A 21-year-old was indicted on Sunday for crashing into a car driven by a disabled driver in Bat Yam and then proceeding to attack the driver with one of his own crutches.

The defendant's detention in police custody has been extended by the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court.

The assault took place on March 9 and footage was shared by the police.

According to the indictment, the assault started when the driver came out to try and exchange insurance details with the defendant.

In the footage, the defendant and her brother can be seen grappling with the victim and stealing his crutch before throwing the victim to the ground. The defendant then proceeded to repeatedly strike the victim with the crutch.

After assaulting the victim, the defendant and her brother
...so much for that gentler s3x thingie...
drove away wildly with the victim still lying down on the street, endangering his life as cars continued to drive by.

ROAD RAGE IN ISRAEL
The violent incident comes amid renewed focus on repeated acts of road rage throughout Israel.

Many of these incidents turned violent and led to deaths, such as the stabbing of Yuri Volkov in Holon in November.

#2  Artemis is a female name. Artemis, the daughter of Zeus and Leto, in Greek religion, the goddess of wild animals, the hunt, and vegetation and of chastity and childbirth; she was identified by the Romans with Diana. Artemis was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo. Among the rural populace, Artemis was the favourite goddess. Her character and function varied greatly from place to place, but, apparently, behind all forms lay the goddess of wild nature, who danced, usually accompanied by nymphs, in mountains, forests, and marshes. Artemis embodied the sportsman’s ideal, so besides killing game she also protected it, especially the young; this was the Homeric significance of the title Mistress of Animals.
She was known as a hunter and deadly accurate with a bow. Her twin brother was Apollo.
Artemis and Orion fell in love and Apollo was jealous of Orion and created a giant scorpion that Orion had to battle. He fought it for a whole day and became tired. They were on the beach so Orion swam far out to get away from the scorpion. Artemis came looking for him and Apollo came with her. He spotted Orion's head way out and told Artemis he didn't think she could hit that speck way out. She drew her bow and an arrow and shot. She hit the spec not knowing it was Orion. Later when Orion's body washed up she knew what had happened. She asked Zeus to restore Orion but he refused. She then placed his body in the sky and placed the giant scorpion in the sky opposite Orion so he would never have to battle the scorpion. That's why we never see Orion and Scorpius in the night sky at the same time.

US Special Forces Test Autonomous Glider For Critical Resupply Missions
[ZERO] At the beginning of this year, we checked out exhibits of defense firms showing off their cutting-edge weapons at the 45th SHOT Show at the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum in Las Vegas (read: here & here). Over the years, what has captured our attention are the advanced weapons that could potentially be employed by Tier 1 special ops personnel in the next major conflict.

The latest weapon of war that special ops might be adding to their arsenal is a new unmanned aerial delivery system for quick resupply of friendly forces on the frontlines.

In February, the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) successfully tested Defense Department contractor Silent Arrow's GD-2000 glider, a disposable autonomous aircraft that can haul upwards of 1,500 pounds of gear and equipment at a range of up to 40 miles, at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.

Traditional supply delivery systems can be bulky and involve a parachute with a very limited distance. The ability of the autonomous glider to maneuver through the air will allow Tier 1 operators to receive critical supplies in heavily contested warzones.

"What this glider does is give us a much greater [travel distance] and a much greater glide ratio into a target.

"If we are able to get [the glider] up to 40,000 feet we're looking at [travel distances] in excess of 25 to 30 miles. That's a pretty unique capability and not matched by anything we currently have," said a Special Forces detachment commander whose team tested the glider.

During the successful field training exercise at Yuma Proving Grounds, the GD-2000 with 1,000 pounds of supplies was airdropped from an Alenia C-27J Spartan military transport plane, and it glided to within 30 meters of its intended target.
