NYC migrants forced to sleep on sidewalk endured eight-hour bus trip from Buffalo back to Big Apple because they weren't properly processed
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] So how does it feel to be nothing more than a political tool, guys?
  • An advocate told DailyMail.com that New York City set up a program to cover migrant housing in the upstate city of Buffalo
Buffalo is in western New York, actually, at the far western end of the state; Hudson Valley and the Finger Lakes are in the upstate region, though of course to many NY City folk the geography gets a bit fuzzy that far away.
  • But, he said, if the migrants arrive in Buffalo and had not yet been processed, they would be sent back to the Roosevelt Hotel to get their documents
Buffalo is no doubt awfully tired of NYC making decisions, then forcing them to deal with the resulting problems. Why should they make it easy for The City now, when they are already being force to absorb unwanted costs?
  • Migrants have been forced to wait outside the hotel for days at a time

#3  NOTE TO BLoM.
Given the LSD's have flooded the USA with an estimated 15.2 Million illegals (so far).

We keep hearing rumors that the LSD's long term agenda is to grant them Amnesty possibly as early as Q1 2024. Then move quickly to set up politically placed Voter Plantations/Camps to care for them and their votes.

As the BLoM & LSD's are aware, providing basic care, housing, and a monthly food allotment (Socialism) has bought many a vote in the past hasn't it.

Because, once on a voter plantation/camp, few will ever dream of greater roles in society and will let the Village/State/NEA raise the child, not 2 parents.

So how long before the BLoM voice is drowned out, when the LSD's, behind the scenes, starts & funds a Hispanic Lives Matter (HLM) type movement for even more votes than the BLoM & the Reverends can deliver.

Remember the Uncle Sam Gravy Training can only seat so many.

Russian Foreign Ministry announces the evacuation of citizens and employees of the embassy in Sudan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Some employees of the Russian embassy in Sudan, as well as Russian citizens who applied with a corresponding request, were evacuated from Sudan, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on August 1.

“Due to high security risks in the context of ongoing clashes in Sudan, some employees of the Russian Embassy transferred from Khartoum, as well as Russian citizens and family members who applied for assistance in returning to their homeland, were taken out of Port Sudan,” the ministry noted.

On August 1, the evacuees were delivered by a special flight of the Military Transport Aviation of the Russian Ministry of Defense to the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow. The work of the Russian Embassy in Port Sudan continues as usual, the Foreign Ministry added.

As IA Regnum reported earlier, as a result of the armed conflict in Sudan, which began in the spring of 2023, more than 600 people were killed in the first days , and at least 5,000 people were injured. At the end of May 2023, the warring parties, the army and the rapid reaction forces, agreed to a humanitarian truce, but subsequently clashes resumed.

385 Pakistanis freed from traffickers’ warehouse in Libya
[Dawn] At least 385 Pak migrants colonists, held in human traffickers’ warehouses, have been freed in a law enforcement raid near the coastal city of Tobruk, in northeastern Libya.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported on Tuesday that the Pak nationals were released early on Monday from smugglers’ warehouses in the Al Khueir area, south of Tobruk.

According to al-Abreen, a migrants colonists’ rights group based in the Tobruk, there are at least 11 children among the freed, some less than 10 years old.

A representative for the group told Dawn that some of the rescued migrants colonists are suffering from diseases, such as scabies, and have been provided food.

The group claimed that the majority of those recovered have been sent by authorities to a facility in Qunfudhah, near the city of Benghazi, while 45 remain in army custody.

Although there was no official word from Libyan or Pak governments, it is expected that these migrants colonists will be deported.

In videos and pictures posted to al-Abreen’s Facebook page, a large group of people, ostensibly in the hundreds, can be seen sitting on the ground as people who look like volunteers and aid workers distribute food and drink. The captions indicate that the migrants colonists had not eaten for three days and lacked access to basic necessities.

France to begin evacuation for its citizens, EU nationals in Niger
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The French foreign ministry has said plans to evacuate French citizens are underway in the West African state of Niger, days after President Mohammed Bazoum was tossed by members of his presidential guard.

"Considering the situation in Niamey, the violence against our embassy the day before yesterday and the fact that the air space is shut and our citizens cannot leave by their own means, La Belle France is preparing the evacuation of its citizens and [other] European citizens who want to leave the country," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

"The evacuation will start today," it said.

Last Wednesday’s overthrow of President Bazoum — the seventh military takeover in less than three years in West and Central Africa — has sent shockwaves across the region.

On Sunday, supporters of the coup burned French flags and attacked the French embassy in Niger’s capital, Niamey, prompting police to fire volleys of tear gas in response. In response, French President Emmanuel Macron said any attacks on French interests in Niger would be met with a "swift and uncompromising response".

Senior Military Officers In Sierra Leone Arrested Over Plots To Attack State Institutions
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Several senior military officers have been arrested in Sierra Leone, after weeks of political instability following the conclusion of presidential and general elections held on 24th of June 2023.

According to a statement published by the police yesterday, the senior military officers were among several people arrested and detained by the police, suspected of plotting to use a planned public protest next week "to launch violent mostly peaceful attacks on state institutions and citizens".

Stopping short of referring to the alleged attacks as a coup against the government, the police said that: "Preliminary investigations have revealed that these individuals planned to use purported peaceful protests between 7th and 10th August 2023, as a guise to unleash violent mostly peaceful attacks against state institutions and peaceful citizens."

Sierra Leone President, Julius Maada Bio did not attend last week’s ECOWAS leaders meeting in Abuja, as security around the president and State House remains tense.

Speaking at a presser held at police headquarters yesterday, the police did not disclose the names of those arrested and the number of officers involved, The Sierra Leone Telegraph Reports.

But these arrests do not come as a surprise to many political analysts who have been writing about fractured relationships between State House and senior military officers in Sierra Leone, who are deeply concerned about the current political crisis in the country that has been triggered by what international and local election observers have described as "rigged election results" announced by the Electoral Commission.

Bio was declared winner of the presidential elections at the first round of ballots in June, but the actual disaggregated polling station results have been hidden from the public by the Chief Electoral Commissioner — Mohammed Konneh, prompting accusations of electoral fraud.

The main opposition APC party and the international community are calling for the publication of all polling station results to ensure transparency and to verify the legitimacy of the Bio-led government.

Sierra Leone is regionally and tribally divided, and this polarity runs across all facets of public life — including the military and police, where it is thought that senior officers are deeply dissatisfied with the political impasse caused by the election fallout between the ruling SLPP whose political heartland is in the southeast, and the main opposition APC from the northwest of the country.

The country’s economy is in serious trouble, with inflation running at 49% and youth unemployment increasing year on year with no sign in sight of an effective government response.

Foreign investors are shying away from the country, following President Bio’s recent crackdown on protesters which has seen over one hundred people bumped off in cold blood.

Elected members of parliament, local councillors and mayors representing the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party are boycotting all political involvement and engagement with the government, including abstention from the country’s parliament, until all polling station results have been published, or a re-run of the elections is conducted under the leadership of a new chief electoral officer.

With several West African nations including neighbouring Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
and now Niger under the grip of disgruntled military leaders who justify their intervention with evidence of corruption by the ruling elites, poor governance and growing poverty, countries like Sierra Leone will continue to face political instability and threats of military coups if election crises and question of legitimacy are left unresolved.

Niger Coup News Roundup for August 1st, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

Media: coup in Niger may prevent new EU sanctions against Russia

[Regnum] The coup in Niger in the short term will prevent the European Union from imposing new sanctions on Russia, Politico writes on August 1.

The material notes that the military, who seized power in the African country, unilaterally banned the export of uranium to France. According to Politico, these actions raise concerns not only regarding the energy security of the French state, but also of other EU members.

To date, the publication points out, Europe has been able to significantly reduce the supply of coal, gas and oil from Russia, but with nuclear energy "a completely different story." It is not yet possible to announce restrictions against the nuclear sector, since many European states oppose the imposition of sanctions.

Against this background, the article says, over the past year, Russia has achieved growth in exports of nuclear resources and technologies to the level of one billion dollars.

Niger is the seventh largest producer of uranium in the world and the second largest in Africa (after Namibia), it contains the deposits of the highest grade uranium ores on the entire continent.

As IA Regnum reported , on the night of July 27, a group of military men in Niger announced a coup d'état and the overthrow of President Mohamed Bazum . On July 30, leaders of the Economic Community of West Africa announced that if President Bazum did not return to power within a week, military action would be taken against the rebels. At the same time, the representatives of Burkina Faso and Mali said they would consider the invasion of Niger a declaration of war on their countries.

Meanwhile, the military that seized power in Niger announced that they were suspending the export of uranium to France, while accusing Paris of intending to restore the power of the ousted President Bazum by military means.

US saw no evidence of Russian involvement in the coup in Niger

The American authorities do not see any evidence of Russia's involvement in the coup in Niger, John Kirby , the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, said at a briefing on August 1.

“Frankly, in our opinion, there is no evidence that Russia is behind this, that Russia is financially supporting this in any way or actually giving any support to this, and that Russia is in any way responsible for what is happening,” admitted Kirby.

Asked by a journalist about the possibility of a coup in other countries, Kirby noted that he could not talk about any "domino effect". “We don’t see that now,” he added.

Kirby also said that the US will conduct a thorough assessment of the continuation of US assistance to Niger. “We made it very clear to the leadership of Niger what the consequences could be in this case if US support is lost. But no decisions have been made yet,” he stressed.

According to him, the US contingent in Niger, which includes about a thousand people, does not plan to participate in "evacuation activities of other countries", and the US is not going to deploy additional forces in Niger either.

As reported by IA Regnum , on the night of July 27, a group of military men in Niger went on national television, announcing a coup d'état and the overthrow of President Mohamed Bazum . On July 30, leaders of the Economic Community of West Africa announced that if President Bazum did not return to power within a week, military action would be taken against the rebels.

At the same time, the representatives of Burkina Faso and Mali said they would consider the invasion of Niger a declaration of war on their countries.

Meanwhile, the French authorities announced their intention to evacuate their citizens from Niger, as well as citizens of other European countries. Now they are deprived of the opportunity to leave the country on their own, the French Foreign Ministry noted.

Kyiv accuses Russia of coup in Niger
They would.
Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, accused Russia of a coup in Niger. He wrote about this on Twitter.

“It is already absolutely clear that Russia is behind the so-called ‘military coup’ in Niger,” he wrote.

In his opinion, this is allegedly evidenced by the support for the coup in Niger by the "pro-Russian" countries of Mali and Burkina Faso.

As reported by IA Regnum , on the night of July 27, a group of military men in Niger announced a coup d'état and the overthrow of President Mohamed Bazum.

The military who carried out the coup in Niger accused France (whose zone of influence traditionally included its former colonies in West Africa, including Niger) of intending to launch a military operation to free ousted President Mohamed Bazum.

Experts expect a rise in uranium prices after the suspension of exports from Niger

Uranium prices began to rise after the decision of the military seized power in Niger to stop exporting uranium to France, reports Reuters on August 1 , citing research company UxC.

The growth is still insignificant (56.25 dollars per pound instead of 56.15 a week earlier), but this is due to the presence of long-term supply contracts, in the coming weeks the situation may noticeably change, said the head of UxC, Jonathan Hinze.

“Everything points to the fact that (what happened in Niger. - Approx. ed.) Will serve as a catalyst for increasing prices for uranium, given the overall tight balance of supply and demand that currently exists,” the expert said.

Earlier, the military, who seized power in Niger, announced that they were suspending the export of uranium to France, while accusing Paris of intending to restore the power of ousted Niger President Mohamed Bazum by military means.

French government officials said they were not considering a military intervention in the situation, while the leaders of the nuclear fuel company Orano, which operates uranium mines in Niger, noted that there were no changes in their activities after the events in Niger.

On the night of July 27, a military group in Niger announced a coup d'etat and the overthrow of President Bazum. On July 30, leaders of the Economic Community of West Africa announced that if President Bazum did not return to power within a week, military action would be taken against the rebels. At the same time, the representatives of Burkina Faso and Mali said they would consider the invasion of Niger a declaration of war on their countries.

EU threatens military intervention in Niger
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics. Text taken from a commentary post which appeared in vott.ru

[ColonelCassad] How interesting the plot twists.

The European Union (EU) is ready to consider supporting a military operation against Niger if an appropriate application is received from the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS). This was announced at a briefing by the official representative of the EU Foreign Service, Nabila Massrali. The broadcast of the event is available on the website of the European Commission.

“The European Union has not yet received any such requests from ECOWAS, but we are ready to consider them if they come,” the diplomat said, adding that this request will be considered by the European Union “in order to best fulfill its political obligations.”

According to Massrali, the coup in Niger is a threat to democracy. “We fully support the position of ECOWAS that the coup is a violation of the democratic principles on which political power in the region is based,” she stressed.

Mali, Burkina Faso and Algeria are ready to take the side of Niger.

More from Boris Rozhin:
Mali and Burkina Faso will go to war if intervention begins in Niger

Mali and Burkina Faso declared that any foreign invasion of Niger would be tantamount to a declaration of war on those countries. These statements were the result of a number of military threats from the United States, France and a number of states dependent on them. After this statement by Mali and Burkina Faso, as well as statements about the readiness of the Niger army to provide armed resistance to any armed aggression, the French Foreign Ministry slightly backed down, saying that France was not preparing a military intervention in Niger.

In all three countries (Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger), three pro-French governments have been overthrown in the last three years.

If France fails to organize an intervention to restore the puppet government, then we can expect increased sponsorship of local jihadists and separatists. On the other hand, the transition of the conflict into a protracted phase will make the appearance of Wagner PMCs in Niger and the expulsion of French and American troops from Niger inevitable.

Value of Yemeni riyal in occupied territories plummets to over 1,400 riyal per dollar
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Economists have warned citizens in the areas under the control of the Saudi-led coalition of the repercussions of the sudden and unjustified drop in foreign exchange rates, as the value of the US dollar reached 1,402 Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i riyals and the Saudi riyal reached 370 Yemeni riyals.

The economists confirmed that this is a new fraud to lure many citizens into the trap of manipulating exchange rates and selling their money at prices below its value.

They explained that the decrease in the selling price of currencies without returning the proceeds from the sale of oil from the National Bank of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to the Bank of Aden and not sending the deposit is "nothing more than a fraud."

On the other hand, the National Salvation Government in Sana’a has succeeded in stabilising exchange rates in the areas under its control at only 529 Yemeni riyals per dollar.

Europe
Sweden to boost border controls after Holy Quran desecrations
[Dawn] Threats to Sweden have increased after recent desecrations of the Holy Koran, the country’s government said on Tuesday, adding it had strengthened border controls to give police wider authority to stop and search people as a result.

A new law, effective from the start of August, gives police extended powers to perform checks on and around the country’s borders, including body searches, and allows for increased electronic surveillance.

"Border controls are a measure that gives us the conditions to identify people coming into Sweden who could represent a threat to security," Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer told a news conference.

"The purpose is to strengthen police work and prevent threats to domestic security," Strommer said.

Sweden and Denmark have seen a string of protests in recent weeks, in which copies of the Holy Koran were burned or otherwise damaged, prompting outrage in Moslem countries and demands that the Nordic governments put a stop to the burnings.

More burnings took place on Monday and both countries said they were examining ways to legally limit such acts in a bid to de-escalate tensions.

Danish security police said on Monday, that like in Sweden, the country was seeing an elevated risk of attacks as a result of the crisis.

On Tuesday, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said the situation was "dangerous", "complicated" and "used by people who wanted Sweden harm", including by Russia who may be using the situation to its advantage.

"It may be to prevent a Swedish NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
accession," Kristersson told the news conference.

"People with very weak ties to Sweden should not be able to come to Sweden to commit crimes," Kristersson said, adding an official decision to step up border controls was expected on Thursday.

Sweden applied to join NATO in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine but the application is yet to be ratified by the Ottoman Turkish parliament.

Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has said he would work to get Sweden’s application approved but also warned it wouldn’t happen as long as copies of the Holy Koran were being burnt in Sweden.

Kristersson said it was important to de-escalate the situation and urged people to use freedom of speech responsibly and respectfully.

The Swedish government was also looking into changes that could allow police to stop burnings in public if they posed a threat to national security, the prime minister said.

Still, he added, sweeping changes to freedom of speech laws were not on the table.

"We stand up for the Swedish freedom of speech," Kristersson told a news conference.

A day ago, the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened in an extraordinary session to discuss the recent developments where it strongly condemned the Holy Koran’s burnings.

It also said in a statement after the meeting ended that it called upon member states to take appropriate action, whether political or economic, in countries where the Holy Koran was being desecrated.

After the meeting, the Danish and Swedish foreign ministers separately wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that they would continue their dialogue with the OIC.

They fought alongside the U.S. — now this female Afghan military platoon is in limbo
[NPR] After serving alongside the U.S., an all-female Afghan military platoon is in immigration limbo.

Who are they? The Afghan military's Female Tactical Platoon — a unit deployed with U.S. and Afghan special forces to collect intelligence from women and kiddies.

  • After the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, members of the platoon came to America under a temporary humanitarian program.

  • In parts of Afghanistan, it's culturally inappropriate for male soldiers to talk to women and kiddies. While accompanying U.S. forces on raids, the Female Tactical Platoon questioned women and kiddies, looking for the locations of Taliban
    ...Arabic for students...
    targets and weapons caches.

  • After Afghanistan fell to the Taliban in August 2021, members of the platoon joined the tens of thousands of Afghans who evacuated to the U.S.

  • Many are in the U.S. on humanitarian parole, a temporary program set to expire this summer.

What's the big deal? Members of the Female Tactical Platoon are struggling to obtain permanent residence in the U.S. And after serving alongside U.S. forces for more than a decade, many have nowhere left to go.

  • Afghans who aided the U.S. military can't go back to Afghanistan, fearing retribution from the Taliban, says former commander of the Female Tactical Platoon, Mahnaz Akbari. She told All Things Considered her soldiers would be in even greater danger as women.

  • Since the evacuation, many Afghan allies were separated from their families. Platoon members whose families weren't able to evacuate are also in danger, Akbari says: "Now it's really dangerous for our families because they allowed us to work for the U.S. military ... two or three [platoon members], the Taliban captured their brothers and tortured them."

Listen to the full All Things Considered conversation with Mahnaz Akbari by tapping the play button at the top.

What's next? Congress has been working on a solution for the tens of thousands of Afghans who face immigration uncertainty.

  • Last year, Congress blocked the Afghan Adjustment Act, a bill that would have created a legal path to permanent residence for Afghans. The bill has been reintroduced this year.Critics are frustrated with how long it's taken for the U.S. to process special visas for Afghan evacuees, accusing the U.S. of treating Ukranian and Afghan refugees differently.

  • Veterans group Sisters of Service has helped resettle members of the Female Tactical Platoon, offering mentorship to help them adjust to life in the U.S. But without permanent residence, Akbari says finding good jobs is difficult: "It's important for me, the Afghan Adjustment Act, because I want to join the U.S. military ... But because I don't have permanent status, I can't do that. It's the same for the other [platoon members]."

[NPASyria] On July 31, The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated key leaders and financial controllers of ISIS and al-Qaeda in Maldives.

The designation included 20 operatives, 29 associated companies, and leaders who have planned or carried out attacks on local authorities and journalists, in addition to individuals and a company associated with key ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K) recruiter Mohamad Ameen who was designated by the United States in 2019.

The ISIS-K is an affiliate of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....

in eastern Afghanistan.

"Treasury’s actions today against ISIS and al-Qa’ida operatives and controllers continue our efforts to help prevent and disrupt financial and other support for terrorist attacks globally," said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson in a blurb.

The US has blocked property and interests of designated persons, including entities owned by them, while prohibiting transactions and contributions to/from them, the OFAC statement noted.

Those engaging in transactions may face sanctions or enforcement action, including financial institutions. Prohibitions apply to contributions or provision of funds, goods, or services to/from designated persons, according to the OFAC statement.

"The United States is committed to denying funding and resources to these terrorist support networks and countering the threats they pose both locally and internationally", Under Secretary noted.

on Tuesday, two days after a deadly suicide kaboom claimed at least 54 lives in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, according to a statement issued by the PM Office.

"The Interim Afghan government should undertake concrete measures towards denying its soil to be used for transnational terrorism", the statement quoted the premier as saying.

The statement further said the prime minister also appreciated the emergency efforts undertaken by the army in the evacuation of maimed personnel from Khar to Peshawar, saving many lives.

PM Shehbaz and COAS Gen Munir also visited the maimed personnel under treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and inquired about their health.

Fact-check: Has the Election Commission delisted PTI?
[GEO.TV] Social media posts suggest that the Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) has deleted former prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
’s Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) from its list of registered political parties in the country.

The claim is false.

CLAIM
"Breaking news, the election commission has removed PTI from the list of political parties," wrote a verified Twitter user on July 10, "Election commission is in such a hurry that it has removed PTI even before it is banned."

The tweet has been retweeted nearly 10,000 times and liked over 24,000 times, to date.

In a quote-tweet, the user later claimed that the ECP had updated its list and was claiming to have accidentally deleted the PTI’s name.

On July 10, another verified Twitter user wrote: "ECP has removed Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf’s name from the list and Imran Khan has been made the chairman of some national labour movement."

Identical claims were also shared on Facebook.

FACT
The Election Commission of Pakistain, tasked to conduct polls in the country, has neither delisted the PTI from its list of registered political parties nor has it reassigned former prime minister Imran Khan’s name to another party.

Haroon Khan Shinwari, the additional director of general media coordination at the ECP, told Geo Fact Check over the phone that the PTI is still listed on the ECP’s website.

"Nothing has changed," said Shinwari, "PTI is present along with 167 other [political] parties. Their heads are also named."

Shinwari added that there is a constitutional process to delist a political party, the ECP cannot do so on its own.

The official also shared an internal ECP document which lists down all the political parties which can contest the upcoming polls in the country. There are 168 political parties on the list, and the PTI's name is present in the document, along with that of its chairman, Imran Khan.

A list of political parties is also available on the ECP's website and can be seen here.

Iraq
Al-Hakim: ''ISIS Executed All Captive Turkmen Shia Women''
[Shafaq News] Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the National Wisdom Movement, stated on Tuesday at the commemoration of the Yazidi genocide's ninth anniversary in Baghdad that ISIS had executed all captive Turkmen Shia women after kidnapping them during their invasion of Nineveh's predominantly Turkmen regions in 2014.

Attacking Yazidis, according to al-Hakim, is an attack on all Iraqis because the enemy also targeted peaceful coexistence and the country's diversity.

"The targeting of Turkmen Shia female captives may have been even more severe than the targeting of Yazidi captives," he continued, "given there was not a single surviving Turkmen Shia woman."

Al-Hakim added that "Yazidi survivors had described what had occurred to Turkmen-Shia women, who had no alternative but to perish. Even if they had attempted to withstand their captivity, they would be burned after turning 35, so they had no chance of surviving."

The leader of the Wisdom Movement also made the point that "although ISIS is to blame for what happened to the Yazidis, they are not alone because everyone who promoted extremism and hatred, as well as those who contributed to the holy warrior rhetoric and used sectarian and religious differences for political ends, are also complicit in these crimes and the tragedies that befell them."

He explained that political factors are keeping the Yazidis who have been internally displaced from returning to their homeland.

He also urged the Yazidis to hold onto their land rather than migrate in order to best respond to ISIS's atrocities.

Furthermore, al-Hakim demanded that the Sinjar Agreement reached between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government, be put into effect.

It is noteworthy that In 2014, ISIS launched a brutal campaign of violence and persecution against various religious and ethnic groups in the regions it controlled. One of the targeted groups was the Turkmen Shia community, an ethnic minority in Iraq.

During their invasion of predominantly Turkmen areas, particularly in Nineveh, ISIS specifically targeted and kidnapped Turkmen Shia women. These women were taken captive and subjected to horrific conditions, including physical and psychological abuse, forced marriages, and sexual slavery.

ISIS holy warriors viewed religious and ethnic minorities, including Turkmen Shia, as enemies and sought to impose their holy warrior ideology on the regions they conquered. The abduction and mistreatment of Turkmen women were part of their broader campaign to terrorize and subjugate communities that did not conform to their radical beliefs.

The plight of the Turkmen Shia women, along with the atrocities committed against other minority groups, drew international outrage and condemnation. Efforts were made by Iraqi forces, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, and other groups to liberate areas from ISIS control and rescue those held captive. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
the situation was complex and challenging due to ISIS’s ruthless tactics.

The targeting and kidnapping of Turkmen Shia women by ISIS further highlighted its serious threat to human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
, religious freedom, and the principles of tolerance and coexistence. It underscored the urgent need for international action to combat the terrorist organization and protect vulnerable populations from its violence and oppression.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Iranians tried to hack state employees and researchers, Shin Bet says
[IsraelTimes] Security agency says operatives contacted Israelis via LinkedIn and email, sent infected documents that would hand them control of targets’ computers.

The Shin Bet security agency said Sunday it had uncovered an Iranian phishing campaign against Israeli civilians in recent months, mostly targeting state employees and researchers, in a bid to obtain intelligence on state policy.

According to the agency, Iranian operatives would contact Israeli targets on LinkedIn while posing as acquaintances, and the conversation would move to an email, where the operatives would either invite them to a conference by sending them a document with further details, or share a research paper.

Documents shared by the Iranian operatives, once opened, would grant the latter permission to the target’s computer, according to the agency, which said none of the phishing attempts was successful.

The Shin Bet said the initial messages with the Israelis were carefully written based on research the Iranian operatives had conducted into the various targets, with the subject matter being of specific interest to each target.

The agency said it managed to foil the attempts after many of the Israeli targets contacted the Shin Bet.

The Times of Israel’s military news hound received an email in early July from someone posing as a known Middle East analyst, offering to share an upcoming research piece. The message was promptly sent to the Shin Bet security agency for review.

"The Shin Bet, along with its partners in the intelligence community, are working to disrupt and thwart Iranian attempts to collect information on Israeli citizens, and calls on the public to be alert to the "phishing" phenomenon on the Internet," the agency said.

In 2021, the Shin Bet said it had uncovered and foiled an attempt by Iranian operatives to lure Israeli academics, businesspeople and former defense officials abroad, in an effort to kidnap or otherwise harm them.
