[NY]National Guard helicopter crashes near southern border in Texas, killing at least 3 on board
[FoxNews] The National Guard helicopter was carrying 3 soldiers and a U.S. Border Patrol agent, sources said.

The helicopter went down in La Grulla, a border town that sits near the Rio Grande in Starr County.

Starr County Judge Eloy Vera, the county's top local official, said the fourth person was in critical condition.

Law enforcement sources told Fox News that the three National Guard soldiers were working on federal orders on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security.

The helicopter was a New York National Guard "Lakota."

Turkey signs oil and gas exploration deal with Somalia
[ShabelleMedia] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and Somalia signed an energy exploration and drilling deal on Thursday, further strengthening bilateral ties after concluding a defence agreement last month.

The deal targets hydrocarbon reserves in its exclusive economic zone, which hasn’t been developed since the collapse of the Somali government in the early 1990s. It also includes land exploration.

Somali military continues gains in the war against Al-Shabaab
[ShabelleMedia] The Somali government on Tuesday confirmed the killing of dozens of al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
bad boy Death Eaters.

"More than 50 members of al-Shabaab were killed in a military operation in the lower Juba region," Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Yusuf Al Adala told the Somali news agency, SONNA.

He added that 20 others were captured alive during the fourth day of offensive operations at Muse-Haji, Malaylay, Turdho, Baxar-saafka and other areas in the lower Juba region.

Since Saturday, the army has been carrying out military operations in the villages and areas of lower Juba, killing and arresting many members and leaders of the movement.

Al Adala said that for the fourth consecutive day, the Somali National Army with the support of Jubaland State forces continue to hunt al-Shabaab holy warriors in the forests of the lower Juba region.

The Somali government has accelerated its offensive operations against the al-Shabaab, which it has been fighting for more than a decade. In recent months, the government forces gained ground in its war with the movement, mainly in central Somalia.

On Monday, SONNA said 30 Death Eater members of al-Shabaab were killed in the Jamaame area in lower Juba and along the river. It added that the army also captured 10 others who were involved in public disruptions in the Bar Sanguuni area.

Somalia has lately witnessed a surge of the Death Eaters’ deadly attacks against military and civilian targets. The African Union

force is set to withdraw from the country and hand over security responsibilities to Somalia by the end of 2024.

Last month, the United States and Somalia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of up to five military bases for the Somali army’s Danab Brigade.
At least 50 Al-Shabaab bandidos turbans have been killed in a series of operations within Jubaland state in southern Somalia, officials said, marking the beginning of the scheduled operations within the region which has been under al-Shabaab

captivity.

The Somali National Army Special Danab Unit with the help of Jubaland forces managed to also arrest many al-Shabaab members during the operations, officials added. The operation in Lower Jubba was the first one in as many months.

Abdirahman Adala, the deputy information minister, said at least 50 had been killed in confrontations with the national army while 20 were arrested and will be arraigned in court for trial. The army will continue with the operations, he added.

The second phase of operations against the al-Shabaab was scheduled to start in Jubaland and Southwest sometime back in 2023 but was delayed due to logistical challenges. The forces focused on combining exercises within Hirshabelle and Galgamadug.

Official records show that at least 3,500 bandidos turbans were killed during the first phase of operations while over 2000 were critically injured. The al-Shabaab, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said, may have started recruiting after the massive losses.

Somalia anticipates that by December 2024, most of these bandidos turbans will have been eliminated as the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) soldiers plan the exit. Already, over 5000 Mission troops have left the country in compliance with the Somali Transition Plan.

Nigeria sends troops to rescue more than 250 kidnapped students
[Breitbart] Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday sent troops to rescue more than 250 pupils kidnapped by gunmen from a school in the country’s northwest in one of the largest mass abductions in three years.

The Kaduna state attack was the second mass kidnapping in a week in Africa’s most populous country, where heavily armed criminal gangs on motorbikes target victims in villages and schools and along highways in the hunt for ransom payments.

Local government officials in Kaduna state confirmed the kidnapping attack on Thursday, but did not provide figures as they said they were still working out how many children had been abducted.

At least one person was shot dead during the attack, local residents said.

Sani Abdullahi, a teacher at the GSS Kuriga school in Chikun district, said staff managed to escape with many students when the gunmen, referred to by locals as “bandits”, attacked early Thursday firing in the air.

He told local officials that 187 pupils had been snatched from the main junior school along with another 100 from primary classes. Three residents also said between 200 and 280 children and teachers had been snatched.

“Early in the morning… we heard gunshots from bandits. Before we knew it, they had gathered up the children,” resident Musa Mohammed told AFP.

“We are pleading to the government, all of us are pleading, they should please help us with security.”

The Kaduna abduction and the mass kidnapping a week ago from camps for people displaced by jihadists in northeast Borno state illustrate the challenge facing Tinubu, who promised to make Nigeria safer and bring in more foreign investment.

“I have received briefing from security chiefs on the two incidents, and I am confident that the victims will be rescued,” Tinubu said in a statement ordering armed forces to track down the kidnappers.

“Nothing else is acceptable to me and the waiting family members of these abducted citizens. Justice will be decisively administered.”

The two mass kidnappings came almost 10 years after Boko Haram militants triggered a huge international outcry in April 2014 by kidnapping more than 250 schoolgirls from Chibok in Borno state.

Some of those girls are still missing.

More than 100 people were reported missing after last week’s mass kidnapping in Borno, but conflicting accounts have emerged about the time and number of victims.

‘NO STONE UNTURNED’
Police did not provide figures for the Kuriga school kidnapping. But the numbers of those reported abducted in Nigeria are often lowered after people who went missing while fleeing attacks return home.

“The Kaduna State Government and Security Agencies are working round the clock to ensure the safe return of the school children,” state governor Uba Sani said on social media platform X.

“I have received strong assurances from the President and National Security Adviser that no stone will be left unturned to bring back the children.”

In the last three years, hundreds of schoolchildren and college students have been kidnapped in mass abductions in the northwest and central region, including in Kaduna.

Almost all were released for ransom payments after weeks or months spent in captivity at bandit camps hidden in the forests that stretch across northwestern states.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday condemned the kidnappings in Kaduna as “reprehensible” in a post on X, adding that those “responsible for these horrifying attacks must be held accountable”.

UN child welfare agency UNICEF also condemned Thursday’s attack and called on the government to do more to protect students.

“Schools are supposed to be sanctuaries of learning and growth, not sites of fear and violence,” UNICEF Nigeria director Cristian Munduate said in a statement.

Nigeria’s armed forces are fighting on several fronts, including against armed criminals in the northwest and a long-running jihadist insurgency in the northeast that has killed 40,000 and displaced more than two million since 2009.

Fighting in Borno has eased as militants have been pushed back from the territory they once controlled, but they still carry out attacks, kidnappings and raids in remote areas.

Last September, gunmen abducted more than 30 people, including 24 female students, in a raid around a university in northwest Zamfara State.

In February 2021, bandits raided a girls’ boarding school in the town of Jangebe in Zamfara, kidnapping around 300 students.

Months earlier, gunmen snatched more than 300 students from a boys school in Kankara in Katsina state before releasing them days later.

Between July 2022 and June 2023, 3,620 people were abducted in 582 kidnap-related incidents in Nigeria, according to local risk analysts SBM Intelligence. It has recorded 4,777 people abducted since Tinubu took office in May last year.

US military strikes anti-ship missiles and drone in Yemen
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The US military struck four anti-ship cruise missiles and one drone in an Ansar Allah (Houthi)-controlled part of Yemen. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced this on March 8 on the X social network.

“Between 15:35 and 16:55 Sanaa time (Moscow time), CENTCOM carried out self-defense strikes against four Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles and one Houthi unmanned aerial vehicle in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen,” the report said.

The command also announced three downed drones moving towards the Gulf of Aden.

As Regnum reported, on March 5, the US military intercepted two anti-ship cruise missiles over the Red Sea. It was noted that the Houthis launched two anti-ship cruise missiles at a container ship flying the flag of Liberia. One of the missiles hit the ship and caused damage, but no one was injured as a result.

Later that day, Ansar Allah military spokesman Yahya Saria announced an attack on two American destroyers in the Red Sea. A Houthi spokesman called the operation unique.

Al Jazeera reported on March 6 that the Houthis attacked an American ship near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Earlier, the British Navy's Maritime Trade Coordination Center (UKMTO) announced a new attack on the ship.

Haiti's gang violence: How the country got to where it is now
[AFRICANEWS] Haiti is once again facing a wave of chaos fueled by ongoing gang wars, which have spiralled since the 2021 liquidation of the country's president.

Gang leaders have grown increasingly violent mostly peaceful and empowered, taking advantage of power vacuums in the Caribbean nation to grow in strength.

As gangs continue to rampage across Haiti, the country's embattled Prime Minister Ariel Henry remains blocked out of the country due to the closing of the airport.

Here's a look at how Haiti got to this point:

January 2010 — Haiti is rocked by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake, killing about 220,000 people and thrusting Haiti into a humanitarian crisis.

July 2021 — Haitian President Jovenel Moïse is assassinated in his home by a group of foreign mercenaries in a plot that authorities say involved elite Haitian coppers. The slaying captures the world's attention and triggers the spiral of gang violence that has deepened month by month.

January 2023 — After Haiti's government fails to hold elections, citing unprecedented levels of gang violence, Haiti is stripped of its last democratically elected officials. Critics say it exacerbated democratic decay and turned the country into a de-facto "dictatorship."

Feb. 29, 2024 — Haitian gangs carry out a series of coordinated attacks across Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, killing at least four coppers. Powerful gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, better known as Barbecue, claims responsibility for the attacks. Chérizier says he aimed to capture police and government officials and block the return of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who was in Kenya to push for the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
-backed international police force to fight gangs in Haiti.

March 1 — Henry signs an agreement with Kenya to deploy 1,000 coppers to the Caribbean nation to combat gang violence, a painstaking process delayed by a court that ruled the deployment is unconstitutional.

March 2 — Gangs in Haiti continue to carry out attacks, this time storming two of the country's biggest prisons and freeing more than 4,000 inmates. It prompts police to urgently appeal for help as they say security forces are overwhelmed.

March 3 — Haiti's government declares a state of emergency and a nighttime curfew, hoping to control the earth-shattering kaboom of violence.

March 4 — Heavily armed gangs try to seize control of Haiti's main international airport, shutting down flights and fueling chaos as Prime Minister Ariel Henry remains out of the country following a trip to Kenya. It prompts many in Haiti to wonder where their leader is.

March 5 — Henry lands in Puerto Rico after gang leader Chérizier effectively declares war on him. The prime minister was on a charter flight destined for the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, but the flight was diverted after the country announced it was suspending air traffic with Haiti.

March 6 — With embattled Henry still locked out of his country, Haitian politicians begin to form alliances and vie for power. Henry faces increasing pressures to resign from both within Haiti and internationally.

March 7 — Haiti remains paralyzed as gangs have continued their rampage. The country extends its nighttime curfew and state of emergency measures. Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's other gun out of his other hand......
the country's leader Henry stays silent while he travels the world and attempts to negotiate a way back into his country, something that appears increasingly unlikely.

Peru arrests 2, including Quds Force operative, for alleged plot to attack Israeli
[IsraelTimes] Peruvian chief of police says Iranian suspect was tasked with ’forming a terrorist cell to wipe out an Israeli national’ during APEC forum

Peruvian police on Friday said they had captured an Iranian and a Peruvian national who allegedly were planning an attack on an Israeli person at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), scheduled to be held later this year in the Andean nation.

Peru’s chief of police, Oscar Arriola, told a presser the arrests were made after an investigation in coordination with international intelligence agencies, which provided "sensitive" information about an Iranian citizen who arrived in Peru at the beginning of March.

"We had to act quickly because today (the Iranian) was set to return to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
after forming a terrorist cell to wipe out an Israeli national" who was going to participate in the APEC event, Arriola said.

Both the Iranian, whom Arriola identified as 56-year-old Majid Azizi, and the Peruvian were arrested on Thursday, he said. Azizi also holds Peruvian nationality by marriage, Arriola said.

Police are still looking for a third Peruvian they think was in charge of killing the Israeli man, he said.

Arriola said that authorities had identified the Israeli who would have been targeted in the attack, though they were choosing not to release the person’s name due to security reasons.

According to Peru’s interior ministry, Azizi is a member of the Quds Force, the extraterritorial branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that has been frequently linked to alleged Iranian plots to target Israelis overseas.

This is the first time Peruvian authorities have announced the arrest of an alleged member of that group. Iranian authorities did not comment, and Iranian state media did not acknowledge the arrest early Saturday.

Arriola said Azizi — who entered Lima on March 3 — was captured after withdrawing money from an ATM and, along with the two Peruvians arrested, will remain in prison for an initial 15 days under terrorism charges.

4 terrorists killed in N Waziristan IBO
[GEO.TV] Four bad boyz were potted in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the North Wazoo district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Friday.

In a statement, the military’s media wing said that during the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between the troops and the terrorists, as a result of which the bad boyz were potted.

"Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area," the statement noted.

It added that a sanitisation operation was underway to eliminate any other snuffies found in the area, adding that locals of the area appreciated the troops and "expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism".

The development comes just a day after two snuffies — including a terrorist ring leader named Shamrooz alias Sheenay — were killed in separate operations conducted by security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Suspected Turkish airstrike kills two in Kurdistan Region
[Rudaw] A suspected Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on Friday targeted a mountain near Duhok’s Shiladze district, killing two civilians and wounding another.

Residents of the area told Rudaw’s Naif Ramazan that the strike took place early Friday morning while the victims were in their groves and orchards near Gre Mountain in Shiladze.

The strikes killed Saeed Mubarak and Araz Faraj, and maimed Salih Mubarak, all three civilians.

According to Rudaw’s news hound on the ground, Salih Mubarak has been transferred to a hospital in Shiladze to receive treatment, while the bodies of Faraj and Mubarak were sent to the forensics medicine department in Amedi.

Media affiliated with The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) blamed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
for the attack.

Turkey frequently bombards the northern mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region under the pretext of targeting PKK fighters.

Tensions have escalated between Ottoman Turkish forces and the PKK in Shiladze and Deralok in recent weeks. Clashes between the two sides forced the residents of four Deralok villages to evacuate out of fear for their lives.

Kamaran Osman, a member of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT), a human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
organization that monitors Turkey's operations in the Kurdistan Region, told Rudaw that since the start of the year, Turkey has launched 241 attacks in the Kurdistan Region.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry has yet to comment on the attack.

Civilians are often caught in the crossfire of the conflict between Turkey and the PKK. Many families have been forced to flee their homes in the Kurdistan Region's villages because of the festivities, especially those in northern Duhok province near the border with Turkey, leaving entire villages empty. A Kurdistan Region parliamentary report published in 2020 said that the Turkey-PKK conflict has left over 500 villages empty across the Region.

Hostage families block main highway with cages; report says new signs of life received

Families of hostages being held captive by Hamas in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
staged a protest on Friday late afternoon and evening, blocking the main highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to urge the government to reach a deal to free their loved ones.

The protest came as Channel 12 reported, without citing any sources, that several dozen families of hostages in Gaza received signs of life regarding their loved ones this week.

The network said it could not provide any additional details on the matter. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Israel has been demanding a list of live hostages as part of the ongoing hostage deal talks.

According to Channel 12, the signs of life sparked a debate among the hostage families, with some wanting to radically step up protests amid a feeling that time is increasingly running out. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
others were urging a more measured approach to give negotiations on a deal a chance to work.

On Friday evening, the protesters set tires on fire, and hostages’ relatives sat in five cramped cages spread across the highway bearing signs that read "SOS," "Save us," and "Help."

The cages were a reference to the IDF finding cages in Gaza tunnels in January which forces said they believed were used to keep hostages captive.

Israel Police released a statement on Friday evening saying they were redirecting traffic on the road because of the protest. A short time later, they said that they had cleared the demonstrators and traffic was moving smoothly again.

"Mr. Prime Minister, you are the leader, and it is your responsibility to bring them home," the families said in a statement about the protest. "Agree to a deal, ignore [hardline National Security Minister Itamar] Ben Gvir and [Finance Minister Bezalel] Smotrich, and bring home the people you neglected and who have been in hell for 154 days."

They added that they would not consider it a victory if Israel won the war against Hamas but failed to bring back the hostages.

#2  There was a time when the Israeli left understood how to fight wars. It’s been a generation or more since they chose instead to indulge their hatred of the Israeli non-left to the point of attempting to destroy the country’s ability to survive in a very hostile neighbourhood.

Their emotions are legitimate. Their actions are profoundly childish and suicidal. Every single one of them should be clapped in irons for a month, just to get their attention.

It should be remembered that they only speak for a portion of the hostage families. Another portion backs the Netanyahu government’s war againt Hamas.

Seven soldiers wounded by IED blast in West Bank town; troops launch manhunt

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. operative killed in overnight raid

Paleostinian button men set off an improvised bomb near Israel Defense Forces troops in the West Bank town of Silat ad-Dhahr on Friday afternoon, wounding seven soldiers, the military and medics said.

The IDF said soldiers were carrying out "proactive activity" in the town when they came under attack.

The soldiers were searching for button men who had shot up an army post near the adjacent Israeli settlement outpost of Homesh a short while earlier, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

The IDF said three soldiers were listed in moderate condition, and four others were lightly hurt. They were all taken to the hospital for treatment and their families were notified.

Troops launched a manhunt for the Paleostinian suspects behind the attack, the IDF said.

Earlier Friday, the IDF said troops killed a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad operative allegedly involved in planning major attacks, in the northern West Bank village of Silat al-Harithiya overnight.

Troops of the Duvdevan commando unit and Border Police officers raided Silat al-Harithiya following intelligence provided by the Shin Bet on the suspect’s whereabouts.

According to defense authorities, Muhammad Shalabi, 39, was involved in advancing "significant terror activity" on behalf of Islamic Jihad, including shooting attacks, preparing bombs, and delivering funds for terrorism.

The IDF said an assault rifle and other military equipment was captured at Shalabi’s home.

Troops also detained nine more wanted Paleostinians during overnight raids across the West Bank, the IDF said. Since October 7, the IDF has said troops have arrested some 3,500 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,500 affiliated with Hamas

Unidentified drone kills three pro-Iran fighters in east Syria: Monitor

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. "Three members of a pro-Iran militia were killed, including two of non-Syrian nationality, in a targeting by an unknown drone on a military vehicle" in the al-Mayadin desert, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor.

US troops in Iraq and Syria have come under target of a series of rocket and drone attacks by pro-Iran militias since October 7, in retaliation to Washington’s support for Israel in its war in the Gazsa Strip. However,

ISIS kills 18 collecting truffles in Syria: Monitor
[Rudaw] At least 14 civilians and four fighters of a pro-regime militia were killed in an attack carried out by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS) forces of Evil while collecting truffles in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, a war monitor reported.

"18 people were killed, including four National Defense Forces [NDF] members. 16 others were maimed, and more than 50 missing in an attack launched by button men, likely affiliated with the Islamic State" in the desert regions of Deir ez-Zor while they were collecting truffles, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor.

"Major" injuries to civilians were also inflicted in the ISIS ambush, the monitor said.

since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war.

Hundreds of poverty-stricken Syrians venture into the Badia desert between February and April each year in search of truffles, despite repeated warnings from authorities. The desert is known to be a hideout for jihadists and also contains landmines, making it a high-risk area to search for the delicacy.

The Syrian desert is known for producing some of the highest quality truffles in the world, which can fetch up to $25 per kilogram, in a country where the average monthly wage is only around $18.

In late February, an ISIS landmine in the Syrian desert killed at least 14 truffle hunters and injured eight.

Days prior, at least five people were killed in an ISIS ambush while truffle hunting in Syria’s central Homs province.
