Egypt sentences top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood to death
[AFRICANEWS] Egypt on Monday sentenced eight members of the Moslem brotherhood to death for their role in the deadly violence of 2013, which followed the military's ouster of Mohammed Morsi, the country's first democratically elected president.

Those condemned to death by the Emergency Supreme Court of State Security sitting in Cairo included the Brotherhood's supreme guide Mohamad Badie.

Badie was the eighth Supreme Guide of the Moslem Brüderbund and led the group between 2010 and 2013, when he was arrested during the army coup against the Morsi government.

Some of the men condemned have already been sentenced to death in other cases.
Just Do It™
The men were accused of conspiring to topple the government of Abdel Fattah el Sissi, who himself came to power after overthrowing Mohammed Morsi. They were also accused of killing coppers and destroying public property.

In July 2013, the leaders of the Moslem Brüderbund organised a massive sit-in in the Rabaa al Adawiya to denounce the the coup.

Security forces later raided the square and killed hundreds of people in a single day in what they termed a counter-terrorism operation.

Morsi died in prison in 2019.

#1  CAIRO - 15 October 2020: The release of State Department emails while Hillary Clinton was in charge has reminded Egyptians of how the U.S. policy favored the Muslim Brotherhood from 2011 until 2013 at the expense of the Egyptian people.
The emails... certainly reminded Egyptians that although the U.S. was seemingly supportive of the secular opposition in Egypt, its policy and its ambassador at the time, Anne Patterson, helped entrench a religious rule in Egypt, which cost the country a lot of money and lives to get rid of and a lot more to mend the damages. Robert Hormats, undersecretary of state for economic growth from 2009 to 2013, sent an email on Aug. 39, 2012 to Jake Sullivan, deputy chief of staff to Clinton, saying he and other U.S. officials met with Hesham Qandil, the prime minister in the government of late Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi, and other Egyptian ministers. They discussed means of reviving the Egyptian economy. Patterson did not attend but later joined the official U.S. delegation to meet with Khairat al-Shater, the Muslim Brotherhood's first choice of a president that could not run for presidency because of being a former convict. the Brotherhood wanted Morsi only in a ceremonial position when they found out Shater could not run for election, Shater and the supreme guide of the Islamist group, Mohamed Badie, were also the rulers of Egypt during Morsi's one-year rule.

The Houthis grabbed credit for the attack, which set the Greek-owned, Barbados-flagged ship True Confidence ablaze around 50 nautical miles off the coast of Yemen's port of Aden.

In a statement on X directly responding to the Houthi claim, Britannia's embassy wrote: "At least 2 innocent sailors have died. This was the sad but inevitable consequence of the Houthis recklessly firing missiles at international shipping. They must stop."

"Our deepest condolences are with the families of those that have died and those that were maimed."

A senior US official also confirmed two sailors had died.

The bulk carrier is called True Confidence, the attack, according to the Center for Coordination of Maritime Trade Transport of the British Navy, occurred at 11:40 Moscow time, 54 nautical miles from Aden, Yemen. People claiming to be members of the Yemeni Navy allegedly contacted the ship. They gave instructions to change course.

Later, from statements by the owner and operator of the bulk carrier, it became known that the ship had caught fire and was drifting. Apart from information about the missing and those who suffered burns, nothing is known about the condition of the 20 crew members and three armed guards.

Al Jazeera: Houthis attack an American ship near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait

The Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) attacked an American ship near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Al Jazeera TV channel reported this on March 6, citing a source.

“Ansar Allah forces attacked an American ship near Bab al-Mandeb,” the report said.

As Regnum reported earlier, on March 6, the UK Navy's Maritime Trade Coordination Center (UKMTO) reported that a new attack on a ship occurred near the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden. The center has therefore advised vessels in the area to exercise caution.

rebels on a ship in the Gulf of Aden, the Philippine government says.

Those killed in the attack on Wednesday appear to be first deaths resulting from Houthi attacks on merchant vessels transiting the key Red Sea trade route.

"With great sadness, the Department of Migrant Workers confirms the deaths of two Filipino seafarers in the most recent attack by Houthi rebels on ships plying the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden," the agency says in a statement.

"We are also informed that two other Filipino crewmen were severely injured in the attack on their ship," it added.

Manila is liaising with the ship owners and its crewing agency "to ascertain the conditions of the rest of the ship’s crew," the department said.

An anti-ship ballistic missile struck the Barbados-flagged, Liberian-owned M/V True Confidence, after which its crew reported "three fatalities, at least four injuries, of which three are at death's door, and significant damage to the ship," the US Central Command said earlier.

cell in Crimea, the department’s press service reported on March 6.

“The Federal Security Service in the Republic of Crimea suppressed the activities of a secret cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami,” the FSB reported.
Good job, guys.
As department officials established, members of the cell carried out anti-constitutional activities in Crimea. At the same time, they were guided by the doctrine of creating a so-called global caliphate and destroying the institutions of secular society. The goal of the extremists was to overthrow the current government in Russia by violent means.

Members of the cell spread terrorist ideology among Crimeans, and they also recruited Crimean Muslims.

During the searches, a lot of propaganda materials banned in Russia were found on the members of the cell. Security forces also seized communications equipment and electronic storage media used for terrorist activities.

Large sums of money in Russian and foreign currencies were also seized from members of the banned organization.

As Regnum reported, the FSB announced on March 6 that a criminal case had been opened against a resident of the village of Emelyanovo in the Krasnoyarsk Territory due to calls for violent actions against Russian military members of the SVO. He posted the corresponding video on his personal YouTube channel. He faces up to five years in prison.

In the city of Karabulak in Ingushetia, FSB special forces eliminated six militants as part of a counter-terrorism operation. Regnum news agency published a fragment of the operation.

Pro-Palestinian mob blocks access to Montreal Holocaust Museum over pro-Israel event
More on this story from yesterday. Montreal, not Toronto.
[IsraelTimes] Central Jewish community group denounces protest as deliberate intimidation of local Jews; police deploy in force to secure similar gathering at synagogue

Hundreds of pro-Paleostinian protesters surrounded the Montreal Holocaust Museum on Monday, preventing access to the building where a group of Israeli army reservists were speaking as part of an advocacy tour.

Protesters reportedly chanted "Death to Israel, death to the Jews," among other taunts.

The event, held at the Jewish Community Foundation building which houses the Holocaust museum, was part of a North American speaking tour by DiploAct, an advocacy group campaigning against the delegitimization of Israel. Among the speakers were Nir Yosef, Ori Itzhaki and Aby Volcovich, all of whom are reservists in the Israel Defense Forces.

Organizers of the event — Federation CJA, a key local Jewish community group, and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs — said in a joint statement that demonstrators were "attempting to block access to the building and are harassing those trying to enter."

Denouncing the protest, the statement said it was "not about political views or a foreign conflict; it’s an intentional intimidation of Jewish Montrealers. The protests we’ve decried for weeks have escalated into a hate mob targeting Jewish institutions."

"Calling for intifada, terrorism against civilians, is not a peaceful protest," the statement continued. "Jews must be able to gather without the need for protection. Now we ask our leaders: what more needs to happen for you to grasp the gravity of the situation?"

There were reportedly scuffles with police using pepper spray against some protesters, but no reports of arrests.

CTV News Montreal reported that a small group of people from the Jewish community held a counter-protest.

A CJA official told the UK’s Jewish Chronicle newspaper that the DiploAct event went ahead as planned as most participants were able to enter the building before the protesters blocked it.

In a follow-up statement, the CJA and the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) said they shared their security concerns with police ahead of the event, citing "the last few months of hate protest escalating," and called for resources to be deployed to ensure access to the building.

It said police were "not able to maintain buffer zones and failed to ensure access to all entrances and exists."

The National Post outlet reported that the protest was organized by the Concordia University chapter of Solidarity for Paleostinian Human Rights.

According to the report, SPHR pressured Concordia University not to host the event on campus as originally planned, before it was moved to the Holocaust Museum.

Concordia University Hillel said the cancellation of the event was due to "the BDS movement
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions, another effort by the PLO to defeat Israel socially since they failed repeatedly militarily…
in Montreal."

Start Up Nation, also an organizer of the DiploAct talk, said of the cancellation, "Concordia University says: ’Israelis not welcome,’ ... This is absolute discrimination."

DiploAct held a similar talk on Tuesday at the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in Montreal, and pro-Paleostinian protesters again gathered.

"Another day, another angry mob chanting hatred directed at Jewish Montrealers," CJA and CIJA said.

According to the groups, the protesters were served an injunction requiring them to stay 50 meters away from Jewish community institutions and that police "were out in full force to ensure effective buffer zones."

The Combat Against Antisemitism Movement posted on X that "Protesting against Israel outside local Jewish community centers isn’t about legitimate criticism. It’s about hatred of the Jewish people."

The soldier was named as Staff Sgt. David Sasson, 21, of the Oketz canine unit, from Ganot Hadar. Among the 12 maimed in the same battle against Hamas operatives, five sustained serious injuries, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The troops, of the Oketz unit and Commando Brigade, had raided a multi-story building in the Hamad Town residential complex in Khan Younis, when several Hamas operatives ambushed them. The soldiers were hit by gunfire, RPGs, and an bomb, according to an IDF probe. Several of the Hamas button men were killed by the troops and in Arclight airstrike

So far, the IDF said some 250 Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad operatives have been captured, some of whom participated in the October 7 assault and are members of Hamas’s elite Nukhba force.

The IDF said the interrogations of the operatives provided helpful information for its continued operations in Gaza.

The military said the Commando Brigade’s Maglan and Egoz units, along with the Navy’s Shayetet 13 and Shin Bet agents, have been carrying out building-to-building searches in Hamad.

The commandos captured "many" operatives who surrendered to them in the neighborhood, including a Hamas sniper squad commander and two other commanders, the IDF said.

Troops also seized firearms, explosives, and military equipment, including scuba gear, in the buildings, according to the military.

At the same time, the IDF said the 7th Armored Brigade was encircling the Hamad area, and — with the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 — were capturing terror operatives trying to flee with evacuating civilians.

Elsewhere in Khan Younis, the IDF said the Bislamach Brigade ambushed and killed a five-person Hamas cell.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, another soldier of the Commando Brigade was seriously maimed during fighting in southern Gaza.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saloon, Butch got the bill for the damage caused by the fist fight, the mirror broken in the shootout, and drinks for everyone......
in central Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet announced that the commander of Hamas’s rocket unit in the area was eliminated in an airstrike on Wednesday.

Amar Atiya Darwish Aladini was responsible for Hamas’s rocket fire from the so-called central camps over the past several decades, at least from the 2008 war, a joint statement said. The IDF and Shin Bet said Aladini "played a central role in the preparations" for the terror group’s October 7 onslaught, and directed rocket fire on Israeli cities and IDF troops in Gaza in the shock attack.

Also in central Gaza, the army said Nahal Brigade soldiers killed some 20 Hamas button men over the past day, including with sniper fire and by calling in airstrikes.

One airstrike was carried out against a site from which operatives fired rockets at troops inside Gaza. The IDF said secondary explosions after the strike indicated that additional rockets were stored there.

The IDF said Wednesday it also carried out strikes on several Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad targets in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya over the past day, in response to earlier rocket fire on Sderot. The targets included hideout apartments where terror operatives were gathered and weapons were stored, other weapon depots, rocket launchers, and tunnels, the military said.

Also in northern Gaza, in the city of Beit Hanoun, the IDF said earlier Wednesday that a fighter jet struck a building where two Hamas operatives were seen fleeing, and published footage of the attack.

A number of Hamas officers and snuffies who participated in the October 7 massacre were also killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza, the IDF said Wednesday without specifying the locations of the attacks. These included two platoon commanders and a squad commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba force, according to the announcement, and two snuffies who participated in the massacre in Nir Yitzhak on October 7.

Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said Wednesday that the corpse count in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 30,717 since October 7, when thousands of Hamas-led snuffies launched a murderous rampage across southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages. Hamas’s figures cannot be verified, do not differentiate between combatants and civilians, and include some 13,000 Hamas snuffies Israel says it has killed in battle since October.

Israel also says it killed some 1,000 button men inside Israel on October 7.

Man hurt in Jerusalem terror stabbing; Palestinian attacker, 14, caught
[IsraelTimes] 64-year-old in moderate condition; East Jerusalem teen flees scene, is captured a short while later

An Israeli man was stabbed and moderately hurt in a terror attack carried out by a Paleostinian teenager in East Jerusalem on Wednesday, police and medics said.

Tzvi Tal, 64, was waiting at a bus station in northeast Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov neighborhood when a 14-year-old Paleostinian from East Jerusalem attacked him.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics took him to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus in the capital. The medical center said he was listed in moderate condition.

Police said officers detained the alleged stabber.

The teenager, a resident of the Kafr Aqab neighborhood, had initially expeditiously departed at a goodly pace after stabbing the man but was caught a short while later in the area.

Law enforcement officials described the stabbing as a terror attack.

"I was waiting at the station for my bus and suddenly I felt someone slap me on the back," Tal told news hounds from his hospital bed. "I turned around and saw that he was running away, and I felt like something had been left in my back and realized that there was a knife there."

As he was alone at the bus stop at the time, Tal said he resorted to trying to flag down cabs and other vehicles in the street to seek help, although many passed by without stopping as the knife was not visible to them and they did not realize he had been stabbed.

He said the assailant was at the bus station with him and that he assumed the teenager was also waiting for the bus, but in the end "he was waiting for me."

Tal, an ultra-Orthodox Jew, warned "We’re sitting on a powder keg" in Jerusalem, and attributed his escape with relatively minor injuries to a higher power.

"The reason things like this don’t happen every other second is because someone is watching over us, making sure that it doesn’t," he said.

The attack came less than a day after a Paleostinian teenager stabbed and seriously maimed a soldier in the northern West Bank. Earlier Wednesday, hospital officials said the soldier’s condition had improved.

Hamas says Israel avoiding ceasefire demands
[GEO.TV] Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
has said that Israel is evading demands for a ceasefire when it has shown the flexibility required to reach a truce that stops the Israeli aggression against the Paleostinian people.

These demands include a permanent ceasefire, the return of the displaced Paleostinians in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
to their homes, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid, according to Al Jazeera.
In other words, Hamas demands preemptive surrender with no payoff for Israel.
"We will continue to negotiate through our brotherly mediators to reach an agreement that fulfils the demands and interests of our people," Hamas said in a statement.
Update from the Times of Israel at 11:00 a.m. ET:
A Jordanian report claims to detail Hamas’s proffer for a ceasefire deal, which proposes the release of hostages in exchange for high-level Paleostinian prisoners one week after a permanent ceasefire goes into effect.

According to the report in A-Rai al-Youm, among the prisoners whose release is demanded by Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
are top terror convict Marwan Barghouti, in jail for multiple murders; top Hamas bombmaker Abdullah Barghouti; PFLP head Ahmad Sadat; Ibrahim Hamed, the former commander of Hamas’s military wing in the West Bank; and Abbas al-Sayed, a senior Hamas member responsible for planning bombings that killed dozens of Israelis. Israel would also have to release all sick prisoners, anyone over the age of 60 or under 18, and all women, as well as 57 people freed in the Gilad Shalit deal and re-arrested.

Under the deal, no hostages would be released for the first week of the ceasefire, and Israel would agree to carry out a complete withdrawal from Gazoo before a second group of hostages was released.

Hamas also demands complete freedom of movement in Gaza and for unfettered aid access.

According to the report, the terror group’s representatives told Egypt that the proposal was nonnegotiable and represented their final position.

Nearly every element is likely a nonstarter for Israel

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Family of three killed in Israel strike on Houla
[An Nahar] A family of three, a father, his wife and their son were killed Tuesday in an Israeli strike on a house in the southern border village of Houla.

The National News Agency said the three killed were civilians but Hezbollah later announced the death of the father, Hassan Hussein, and his 25-year-old son, Ali Hussein, "on the road to Jerusalem" -- the phrase used for Hezbollah fighters killed by Israel.

Hussein, his wife, Ruwaida Mustafa, and their son were killed in a raid on a three-storey house in Houla, NNA said.

"Search operations and the removal of rubble are continuing," it added.

Shortly after the deadly strike, Hezbollah said it launched "dozens of rockets" at the Israeli kibbutz of Kfar Blum, six kilometers from the nearest border point.

The group also said it "targeted a building" in the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona and another building in Avivim.

It said it acted "in response to the Israeli aggression against the villages of the south and the homes of civilians," among them the strike on the house in Houla.

Hezbollah also said it carried out several attacks on Israeli military positions on the border on Tuesday.

killed a foreign worker in Israel, according to the army, and three Hezbollah-affiliated paramedics were killed in an Israeli raid on southern Lebanon, according to the group.

NNA had also reported on Monday evening that Israeli air raids targeted the border town of Bint Jbeil, but no casualties were reported.

It came as U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein said a diplomatic solution was key to ending nearly five months of intensifying hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.

"A diplomatic solution is the only way to end the current hostilities" and achieve "a lasting fair security arrangement between Lebanon and Israel", he said, adding "a temporary ceasefire is not enough".

ceasefire is secured.

On Tuesday, the chief of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc, Mohammad Raad, was quoted by NNA as saying: "We do not wish for war but we are ready to face it."

"We have not used all of our weapons, nor the weapons of open conflict. We have not deployed all of our arsenal, and the enemy knows it," he said.

Hezbollah targets Metula with suicide drone
[An Nahar] Hezbollah attacked Wednesday the Metula post with a suicide drone.

It said it acted "in response to the Israeli aggression against the villages of the south and the homes of civilians."

Israeli artillery meanwhile shelled the outskirts of al-Fardees and Rashaya al-Fokhar and warplanes raided the southern border town of Yaroun.

Hezbollah had carried out several attacks on Israeli military positions on the border on Tuesday, in response to a strike on a house in Houla that killed a man, his wife and their son. Hezbollah announced the deaths of the father, Hassan Hussein, and his 25-year-old son, Ali Hussein, "on the road to Jerusalem" -- the phrase used for Hezbollah fighters killed by Israel.
