[TWITTER]

The NY Post adds:
The driver who struck a policeman at a Manhattan scene of the crime told authorities it was intentional, adding, "F—k these cops, it’s a lesson to him,’’ sources said Friday — with the mow-down caught on shocking video.

Sahara Dula — a 24-year-old Brooklynite whose lawyer said mentors kids to stay off drugs — was driving her black Lexus the wrong way on the Upper East Side while high on marijuana Wednesday when she barreled into the NYPD officer, officials and sources said.
Images in the tweet and a photo at the article link show both the policeman and Ms Dula appear to be Black, so at least the druggie wasn’t being racist as well.
“I told the cop I wanted to go straight, and he wouldn’t move, so I hit him. I did it on purpose,’’ Dula later told Sherlocks, according to court papers.

"F—k these cops! He wouldn’t move!’’ she screamed a few minutes after the incident, the documents claim —with a source saying Dula added, "F—k these cops, it’s a lesson to him, and hopefully he doesn’t want to be a cop anymore."

Footage posted on X late Thursday shows Dula, a college criminal justice graduate
...an interesting way to spend four years, under the circumstances...
and former doorman, driving her vehicle the wrong way on Park Avenue near East 71st Street around 4:30 p.m.

At the time, officers were in the area investigating an unrelated robbery at a nearby high-end clothing store and had closed off part of the road.

Marijuana and rolling papers were found in her vehicle, according to Shephard.

Shephard — who called Dula’s alleged actions "egregious" — asked that she be held on $100,000 bail, but Judge John Zhuo Wang set bail at $25,000. The suspect did not immediately make bail.

Dula’s only prior arrest in the Big Apple was in March 2022 for criminal mischief stemming from an incident near Brooklyn’s Atlantic Terminal Mall in which she destroyed property with a metal barrier, cops and police sources said. The charges were eventually dropped in the case, which was sealed.

Dula also has prior arrests in New Hampshire, Shepherd said. In 2020, she allegedly failed to stop at an intersection in the town of Henniker and struck another vehicle before she expeditiously departed at a goodly pace but was quickly located, according to a report in The Granite Quill. She was also arrested on a simple assault charge after an incident at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire’s capital city, Patch reported at the time.

In court, Dula’s lawyer, Patricia Wright, argued to the judge that her client "wants to express to you that she’s trying to move on from her ties from New Hampshire."

Dula suffers from bipolar disorder, takes multiple medications and receives mental health treatment, Wright said.
There it is — I’d wondered.
The Brooklyn resident — who supports her family, including her mother — runs her own company where she mentors kids on Saturdays through music and helps them stay off the streets, and away from drugs and gangs, according to Wright.
Another interesting choice. What advice can she give, given her own lifestyle?
Dula lives alone in a Prospect Lefferts Gardens apartment building, after her grandmother and father both died in the past year, according to the building super, who did not want to be identified.
How much of a family is there for her to support, if she lives alone, and Granny and Pops are no longer among the living.
The super described Dula and unfriendly and gruff, adding that she "smokes a lot of weed."

"She’s like a rude person," he said."Not smiling for nobody. All the time she’s like that. She was even like that with her grandmother and father."

Explosive-laden Donkey cart claims officer's life, injures 4 in Kenya''
[AFRICANEWS] A donkey cart carrying a suspected improvised bomb blew up at a checkpoint on the Kenya-Somalia border Thursday, killing one Kenyan police officer and critically wounding four others, authorities said.

A Kenyan police report seen by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said the cart pulled by two donkeys and ridden by one man passed the Somali checkpoint of Bula Hawa and entered Kenyan territory, where it was stopped by officers to check the load.

The rider jumped off and ran back into Somalia moments before the cart went kaboom!, causing a huge fire at the border post in the northern county of Mandera, the report said.

The report said that the cart's driver was arrested by Somali police as he tried to flee, and that the Mandera county security team was negotiating with the Bula Hawa police to have him handed over to Kenyan authorities.

No one grabbed credit for the attack, but suspicion immediately fell on al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
, a Somalia-based bad boy group linked to al-Qaeda.

Al-Shabaab has vowed retribution on Kenya for sending troops into Somalia in 2011 to fight the krazed killers. The group had staged a string of kidnappings of Westerners inside Kenya that threatened the country's tourism; a key pillar of its economy.

The Kenyan forces became part of the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
peacekeeping mission that has bolstered Somalia's weak government for more than 20 years against an al-Shabaab insurgency. The AU mission last year began a drawdown of its troops under a U.N. Security Council resolution to return control to the Somali government.

In recent years, al-Shabaab attacks in Kenya have been limited to roadside kabooms mainly targeting the military and police. On Monday, five coppers were maimed when their truck was hit by a roadside kaboom in Lafey Mandera county.

Burkina Faso: Fresh coup attempt thwarted - authorities
[AFRICANEWS] The spokesperson for the government of Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job unless he's already been deposed...
, denounced Thursday (Jan. 18), what he called an "umpteenth attempt at destabilizing" the Sahelian nation.

He said a coup attempt had been foiled and alleged coup plotters arrested.

Citing findings of preliminary investigations Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo said the coup was scheduled to take place on January 14.

He added that a network of military officers, some retired some active, as well civilians and activists conspired to destabilize the institutions of Burkina Faso.

The network allegedly sought to target citizens' watch bodies to sway the people support for the ruling MPSR (Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration).

Foreign funding was being unblocked for the accused to proceed with their plan, the statement further reads.

An undisclosed number of people were detained for questioning, and technical analyses were carried out.

The government spokesperson said intelligence services and defence forces were vigilant

It is the fourth coup attempt authorities in Burkina Faso have claimed to have thwarted since captain Ibrahim Traoré took power by force in September 2022.

Haitian gangs rampage for 4 days, sparking fears of escalating violence
[AFRICANEWS] Gang members have raided a key community in Haiti’s capital that is home to numerous coppers and has been under siege for four days in an ongoing attack, with residents fearful of the violence spreading throughout Port-au-Prince.

The pop of automatic weapons echoed throughout Solino on Thursday as thick columns of black smoke rose above the once peaceful neighborhood where frantic residents kept calling radio stations asking for help.
"Could you play something by The Cure? I like them"
"If police don’t come, we are dying today!" said one unidentified caller.

Lita Saintil, a 52-year-old street vendor, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that she fled Solino on Thursday with her teenage nephew after being trapped in her house for hours by incessant gunfire.

The homes around hers were torched by gangs, and she recalled seeing at least six bodies as she fled.

"It’s very scary now," she said. "I don’t know where I’m going."

Another resident, Nenel Volme, told the AP that he was chatting with a friend near his house on Sunday when gunfire erupted and a bullet struck a bone in his right hand.

"I don’t have the means to go to the hospital," he said as he lifted his injured hand, which was wrapped in gauze.

It wasn’t immediately clear who organized and was participating in the attack on Solino. The community, which is home to thousands of people, was once infested by gangs before a U.N. peacekeeping mission drove them out in the mid-2000s.

The attack could mark a turning point for gangs, which are now estimated to control up to 80% of Port-au-Prince and have been suspected of killing nearly 4,000 people and kidnapping another 3,000 last year, overwhelming police in the country of nearly 12 million people.

If Solino falls, gangs would have easy access to neighborhoods such as Canape Vert that have so far remained peaceful and largely safe.

"Life in Port-au-Prince has become extremely crazy," Saintil said. "I never thought Port-au-Prince would turn out the way it is now."

On Thursday evening, Haiti's National Police released a statement saying officers were deployed to Solino "with the aim of tracking down and arresting armed individuals seeking to sow panic among the civilian population." Police also released a nearly three-minute video showing in part officers on a rooftop in Solino exchanging fire with unidentified button men who did not appear on screen.

Nearby communities spooked by the ongoing violence in Solino began erecting barricades on Thursday using rocks, trucks, tires and even banana trees to prevent gangs from entering.

One man near a barricade in Canape Vert said that he had been following the protests organized earlier this week by supporters of former rebel leader Guy Philippe, who has pledged a revolution to drive out gangs.

"It’s more misery," the man, who declined to identify himself, said of Haiti’s ongoing crisis. "We are suffering. The country is gangsterized."

Amid concerns that the violence in Solino could spill over into other neighborhoods, parents rushed to schools across Port-au-Prince to pick up their children.

"I don’t know if we’re going to be able to make it back home," said one mother who declined to provide her name out of fear. "There is no public transportation, and tires are burning everywhere. We don’t know what we’re going to do."

Haiti is awaiting the deployment of a foreign armed force led by Kenya to help quell gang violence that was approved by the U.N. Security Council in October.

A judge in Kenya is expected to issue a ruling on Jan 26 regarding an order currently blocking the deployment.

Ecuador's war on gangs sees hundreds of soldiers swarm prison and handcuff inmates in their underwear as they take back control of the jail following crime boss escape
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Ecuador's war on gangs saw hundreds of soldiers storm a prison and handcuff inmates in their underwear on Thursday, taking back control of the complex following the escape of the country's most wanted crime boss.

Authorities also arrested the suspected killers of a prosecutor who was gunned down Wednesday in his car on the streets of the port city of Guayaquil, which has become a dangerous hub for the export of cocaine from neighboring countries.

Police Commander General Cesar Zapata said on social media that two suspects had been arrested. He said a rifle, two pistols and two cars have been seized as 'evidence.'

The slain prosecutor, Cesar Suarez, had been in charge of the investigation into last week's dramatic, live-broadcast assault by gangsters on a state-owned TV studio, also in Guayaquil, which prompted the ongoing crackdown on the gangs.

Meanwhile, hundreds of soldiers and police, accompanied by army trucks, poured into a vast penitentiary complex - the same one from which notorious gang boss Adolfo Macias, alias 'Fito', leader of Los Choneros - escaped last week.

The jailbreak at Litoral Penitentiary sparked a government crackdown and, in turn, fierce retaliation from criminal groups. After Thursday's raid, the army shared photos of cuffed inmates in their underwear lying face down in prison courtyards.

Similar images have been disseminated in recent days as the government tries to wrest control of prisons back from the gangs.

Despite being locked up, Ecuadorian prisons have become the strongholds gang leaders in recent years, out of which they can operate. According to the Ecuadorian newspaper Primicias, Fito converted his prison cell in the complex into a 'private bunker. From there, he is said to have controlled Los Choneros' criminal operations, including extortion and murder, according to the publication.

Uniformed officers are 'in control of the external and internal perimeter of the penitentiary complex' at Guayaquil, the army wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Once considered a bastion of peace in Latin America, Ecuador has been plunged into crisis after years of expansion by transnational cartels that use its ports to ship drugs to the United States and Europe.

In response to Fito's escape, President Daniel Noboa imposed a state of emergency and nightly curfew.

Drug cartels reacted swiftly, threatening to execute civilians and security forces and taking hostage dozens of police and prison officials, since released.

On January 9, attackers stormed the TV station, firing gunshots and forcing staff to lie on the ground as a woman could be heard pleading: 'Don't shoot, please don't shoot.' Police entered the studio after about 30 minutes of chaos, diffusing the situaton and arresting 13 assailants, many of them teenagers.

Noboa then declared the country in a 'state of war,' deploying thousands of soldiers and police to patrol the streets, hunt down gang members, drugs, and weapons. In the past nine days, they have carried out more than 23,000 operations and arrested 2,174 people - 158 of whom were wanted for 'terrorism,' the army says.

The explosion in violence comes weeks after Attorney General Diana Salazar announced an investigation highlighting links between the gangs and powerful state officials, from judges to a former prisons chief. Salazar launched the 'Metastasis' investigation after the prison death in 2022 of powerful drug lord Leandro Norero. Her team scoured through chats and call logs from his cellphone, finding links to high-ranking officials who handed out favors in exchange for money, gold, prostitutes, apartments and other luxuries.

More than 900 people took part in the investigation, which resulted in more than 75 raids and dozens of arrests.

Salazar said she had received death threats from the powerful Los Lobos (The Wolves) gang - whose boss Fabricio Colon also escaped from prison last week.

Those investigating the gangs have become targets.

Prosecutor Suarez had probed cases involving mafia infiltration of the judicial system and corruption scandals linked to the purchases of medical equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic. In June last year, another prosecutor, Leonardo Palacios, was shot dead in the town of Duran, near Guayaquil, and in 2022, two prosecutors and a judge were shot in other parts of the country. Anti-graft and anti-cartel presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was killed in a barrage of automatic gunfire after a campaign speech just weeks before elections last year that were won by Noboa.

Similar treatment of prisoners has been seen in recent years in El Salvador where the country's president has locked up 2 percent of the country's adult population in a bid to crack down on alleged gang members.

Ecuadorian authorities attribute the unprecedented violence to a power vacuum triggered by the killing in December 2020 of Jorge Zambrano, alias 'Rasquiña' or 'JL,' the previous leader of the Los Choneros cartel before Fito. Ever since, Los Choneros - now led by Fito - and splinter groups Los Lobos and Los Tiguerones have been fighting over territory and control, including within prison facilities, where at least 400 inmates have died since 2021 in riots.

The gangs have links to cartels from Colombia and Mexico, including the infamous Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation cartels, who are also at war.

Horrified workmen find cooler filled with severed HEADS at Mexican gas station alongside chilling cartel warning for rivals to 'stop hiding'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A cooler filled with severed human heads was abandoned at a Mexican gas station with a note from a cartel warning their rivals to 'stop hiding'.

Hitmen allegedly from the Mexican 'Sinaloa Cartel' left the ice box inside a gas station in the town of La Concordia, in Chiapas in southern Mexico on Monday.

Workers believed the cooler had contained several doses of vaccines for veterinary use since the cooler had an envelope with instructions for this type of substance, local media reported.

But after opening it, they realized it contained human remains covered in ice, as well as a message to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) threatening they would be met with the same fate.

The cooler was found just hours after the CJNG reportedly left a dismembered body hanging from an overpass on the Tuxtla-Ocozocoautla highway to warn the Sinaloa cartel to stay clear of its migrant smuggling trade.

The Sinaloa Cartel apparently sent the severed heads via parcel to an individual named Óscar Orantes, on behalf of Insumos Veterinarios del Sur SA de CV.

An envelope containing instructions mentioned following doctor's guidance and storing the contents at 16C, leading the workers to believe the parcel contained vaccines, Infobae.com reported.

But once they opened the lid, the workers found the remains and a note apparently signed by the Sinaloa Cartel.

The message read: 'There's your s**t you bunch of pigs. The same thing is going to happen to all the polleros (smugglers) who generate money for the scourges of the CJNG and the f*****s of the Chiapas Cartel.

'Go out and fight you bunch of pigs, stop hiding under government skirt. Pure CDS '.
Authoriies: "The message was unclear"
The case was reported to the authorities and an investigation was opened for qualified homicide.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Chiapas on Tuesday announced that three of the four decapitated people found inside the cooler were identified.

They correspond to three men and a woman Blanca 'N' and Luis Fernando 'N', both residing in the municipality of Villa Corzo and Yonibeth 'N' residing in La Concordia. They did not have a missing person's report filed.

The identity of the fourth set of remains in still pending.

The Sinaloa Cartel is an organized crime organization based in the city of Culiacan, Sinaloa, in Mexico. They deal with illegal drug trafficking and money laundering.

Both cartels have seemingly issued horrific warnings to their rivals this week using human remains.

The CJNG on Monday hung a man's severed head and a trash bag containing the rest of his body over an overpass.

According to Border Report, a sign was left next to the body warning: 'This will happen to all the people with Panchito, El Guero Pulseras and (El Tarje).'

El Guero Pulseras has reportedly been identified as a leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in Chiapas, which borders Guatemala and is allegedly seeing an influx of migrants heading to the US.

Iraq
American drone crashes near an airbase in Iraq, Iran’s catspaws claim they dunnit
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A fallen American drone was discovered near an Iraqi airbase,
...did it have parts made in China?
and an investigation into the incident began, RIA Novosti reported on January 20 with reference to the Pentagon.

“At 19:20 (the time coincides with Moscow. - Note by IA Regnum ), an American unmanned aerial vehicle fell near the Balad air base in Iraq,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement.

It is noted that the drone was picked up by Iraqi law enforcement officers. There were no reports of casualties. An investigation is underway.

As Regnum reported, on January 4, in the Iraqi capital, a drone strike killed one of the commanders of the pro-Iranian Shiite movement Hezbollah al-Nujabaa, better known as Abu Taqwa, as well as his supporter. The deceased headed the 12th brigade of the movement. Hezbollah al-Nujabaa confirmed the death of the commander and blamed the United States for what happened. The target of the UAV attack was the headquarters of the logistics forces in Baghdad.

At the end of December 2023, the US military carried out strikes on three targets of the Kataib Hezbollah group and associated groups in Iraq. The Pentagon called the attack a response to attacks against the US military in Iraq and Syria, including the shelling of a US air base at the airport in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq (Iraqi Kurdistan).

US says probing cause of drone crash in Iraq after Iran-backed militias claim to down UAV

[IsraelTimes] An American drone crashed north of Baghdad, a US defense official says Friday, after Iran-backed bully boyz claimed they fired on an unmanned aircraft flying over Iraq.

"A US UAV crashed near Balad airbase, Iraq" on Thursday night local time, the official tells AFP, without identifying the type of drone that was lost.

"Iraqi security forces recovered the aircraft. There were no injuries reported," the official says, adding that "an investigation of the cause of the crash is underway."

The Islamic Resistance® in Iraq, a loose alliance of Iran-linked gangs that oppose US support for Israel, said Friday that it fired on a US MQ-9 — a type of drone that can be used for both surveillance and strikes — which was operating over Iraq the day before.

"Mujahideen yesterday targeted... an MQ-9 drone belonging to the American occupation," the group said in a statement.

[IsraelTimes] Local officials say Tawfiq Hijazi, 17, fatally shot in head by Israeli troops near Ramallah during stone throwing incident; Washington expresses ’serious concern’ over case

A 17-year-old Paleostinian-American was fatally shot Friday by Israeli troops during festivities north of the West Bank city of Ramallah, Paleostinian health officials said.

The young man, identified by the Paleostinian news agency WAFA as Tawfiq Hafiz Hijazi, was hit in the head with live ammunition during a Friday evening confrontation with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank town of al-Mazra’a al-Sharqiya, which according to Rooters included stone-throwing.

WAFA reported that Hijazi sustained critical injuries before being pronounced dead at the Paleostine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

The IDF did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

White House National Security Council front man John Kirby said the US was "seriously concerned" about the reports of Hijazi’s death. Kirby noted that the US was still looking into the circumstances.

Video circulating on social media purported to show people rushing Hijazi from the scene after he was shot.

In a separate incident on Friday reported by WAFA, Israeli soldiers allegedly shot and injured an 18-year-old man in the West Bank village of Kafr Ni’ma, west of Ramallah. According to the report, the injury was also caused by live fire.

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it is continuing a counter-terror operation in the West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp, which began more than 35 hours ago.

So far, it says, troops have uncovered dozens of explosives hidden under the roads using engineering vehicles, searched hundreds of buildings and arrested 15 wanted Paleostinians.

The IDF says troops also seized many weapons during the raids, and destroyed an explosives lab and a building used by local terror operatives to observe Israeli forces with surveillance cameras.

IDF says it wrapped up operation in West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp after 45 hours

[IsraelTimes] After some 45 hours, the IDF says it has wrapped up a counter-terrorism operation in the West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp.

During the raid, the IDF says troops scanned around 1,000 buildings and located more than 400 bombs, and seized 27 weapons and other military equipment.

Five explosive manufacturing labs and four sites used by local terror operatives to observe Israeli forces using surveillance cameras were also located and destroyed, the IDF says.

Engineering vehicles uncovered and destroyed dozens of explosives hidden under the roads of the camp, the IDF says.

The IDF says 37 wanted Paleostinians were arrested during the operation, including several senior members of a local terror network.

At least eight Paleostinian button men were killed during festivities with troops amid the raid, some of them in an Arclight airstrike on Wednesday.

One IDF soldier was also seriously maimed in the raid, which the army announced Wednesday. The IDF says troops located the button men, killing some and arresting others amid the operation.

, as UN officials warn of dire humanitarian situation and accuse Israel of breaking international law

The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday it had completed demolishing Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
’s main rocket and weapons manufacturing industrial zone in the central Gaza Strip, along with a vast tunnel network beneath it that housed some of the facilities.

The development came as the army said troops reached the southernmost point of their ground offensive in Gaza so far on Thursday as they intensified operations across the south of the Paleostinian territory.

At the same time, a UN rights expert accused Israel Thursday of breaking international law with its "relentless" bombardment of Gaza.

Parts of the weapons manufacturing facility were shown to news hounds, including The Times of Israel, during a media tour earlier this month on Salah a-Din road in the Bureij area.

The IDF said troops located additional sites recently, in the Maghazi area, and between Bureij and Nuseirat.

In all, the 36th Division, the Yahalom combat engineering unit, and Air Force’s Shaldag unit discovered and destroyed dozens of tunnel shafts in the area of Salah a-Din road in central Gaza, that connect to hundreds of kilometers of underground passages, according to the IDF.

One of the tunnel shafts was located in the home of a senior Hamas commander responsible for the rocket manufacturing operation.

The IDF said the tunnels led to underground sites used by Hamas to manufacture rockets and other weapons, as well as passages used by the terror group to transport munitions to all parts of Gaza.

Both above and below ground in Maghazi, Bureij and Nuseirat, the IDF said it discovered steel workshops, chemical and explosives factories, and storage sites for long-range rockets.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his shoulder. Ow! he exclaimed, with feeling......
La Belle Francesca Albanese, an Italian lawyer who is the UN special rapporteur on the Paleostinian territories (and who is staunchly critical of Israel), told a Madrid news conference that Israel "has done a number of things that are highly illegal, highly unlawful" during the war.

While Israel has the right to self-defense, international humanitarian law must be respected "to protect people who are not actively involved in combat. Civilians, prisoners of war, and the sick and maimed," she added.

This meant distinguishing between combatants and civilians and ensuring military attacks are proportionate to avoid excessive harm to civilians, Albanese said.

"Instead what has happened is over 100 days of relentless bombing — the first two weeks using 6,000 bombs per week, bombs of 2,000 pounds, in highly crowded areas," she said. "Most hospitals have been made dysfunctional. A good number of them, the major ones, have been closed, bombed or taken over by the army. People are dying now not only because of the bombs but because there is not sufficient health infrastructure to cure them of wounds."

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of embedding itself in Gaza’s civilian population and using civilians as human shields, including by locating terror bases under hospitals, launching rockets from schools and shelters, building tunnel shafts under children’s bedrooms, and storing weapons in and around schools and mosques.

Captured Hamas holy warriors have confirmed some of the human shield claims, explaining for example that Hamas knows Israel will not target hospitals, medical centers and facilities.

A health professional who recently left Gaza after weeks working in hospitals there described overwhelmed doctors trying to save the lives of thousands of maimed people amid collapsing hospitals that have turned into impromptu refugee camps.

The World Health Organization’s Sean Casey, who left Gaza after five weeks of trying to get more staff and supplies to the territory’s 16 partially functioning hospitals, told a UN news conference that he saw "a really horrifying situation in the hospitals" as the health system collapsed day by day.

Al-Shifa Hospital, once Gaza’s leading hospital with 700 beds, has been reduced to treating only emergency trauma victims, and is filled with thousands of people who have fled their homes and are now living in operating rooms, corridors and stairs, he said.

"Literally five or six doctors or nurses" are seeing hundreds of patients a day, Casey said, most with life-threatening injuries, and there were "so many patients on the floor you could barely move without stepping on somebody’s hands or feet."

Following Hamas’s surprise attacks into the country’s south on October 7, Israel has repeatedly accused the Islamic terror group of using Gaza’s hospitals as cover for military activities. It singled out al-Shifa in Gaza City, saying Hamas had hidden command centers and bunkers underneath the hospital’s sprawling grounds. In late November, the Israeli military unveiled what it said was a Hamas military facility under the hospital.

VICTORY WILL TAKE TIME
Speaking at a presser in Tel Aviv Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged that the war on Hamas "is continuing on all fronts, and the war will continue on all fronts until all the aims we set are achieved."

"Victory will take many more long months," he continued, "but we are determined to achieve it."

He rejected the idea that Israel cannot win, which he claimed was being circulated by Israeli media, including "in the TV studios." His government, he promised, "will not compromise on anything less than total victory over Hamas."

On the rule of Gaza after the war, he said he "would be happy to find Gazooks" to run civil affairs in the Strip, and states in the region to help with Gaza’s rehabilitation, but said this was unlikely to happen until Hamas is defeated, because potential alternatives will be afraid to "get a bullet in the head" from the terror group’s button men.

Earlier in the day, the IDF denied claims that it shelled a Jordanian field hospital in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, as troops continued to battle Hamas operatives in the area.

In response to a query on the matter, the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit told The Times of Israel that the military "did not attack the Jordanian hospital in Khan Younis," but that troops were engaged in a shootout with Hamas operatives in a nearby area.

"There are claims that a medical staff member of the hospital was injured as a result of the shooting. As of now, it is not possible to verify that the injury is the result of IDF troops firing," the IDF said, adding that before troops entered the area, they were briefed on the hospital and were told that it was "a sensitive place and it is very important for the IDF not to endanger it and its people."

The IDF also noted that "coordination was carried out between the relevant parties" ahead of the army’s operations near the hospital on Wednesday, in which it instructed the hospital staff to seek shelter.

"The hospital is not damaged and continues to function and provide medical care to those who need it," the IDF said.

In the south of the Strip, the Hamas-run health ministry said that 16 people, half of them children, were killed in an IDF Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...

confirmed that a shipment of medicines, some intended to be given to dozens of hostages with chronic illnesses held by Hamas, had entered the Strip.

"Over the past few hours, medicine & aid entered the Gaza Strip, in implementation of the agreement announced yesterday for the benefit of civilians in the Strip, including hostages," Majed Al Ansari, a spokesperson for Doha’s foreign ministry posted on X, formerly Twitter, adding that mediation was continuing "at the political and humanitarian levels."

A senior Hamas official said that for every box provided for the hostages, 1,000 boxes of medicine were being sent in for Paleostinians.

The agreement for medication to enter Gaza came amid the growing humanitarian crisis in the enclave. The Gaza health ministry, run by Hamas, said Thursday that the corpse count in the Strip had reached at least 24,620 people, though figures from the terror group cannot be independently verified, and are believed to include both civilians and Hamas members killed in Gaza, including as a consequence of the terror groups’ own rocket misfires. The IDF says it has killed over 9,000 operatives in Gaza, in addition to some 1,000 holy warriors inside Israel on October 7.

There was no word on whether the medicines, which were to be transferred by the Red Thingy, had been distributed to the hostages.

Vowing to destroy the terror group, Israel launched a wide-scale air and ground campaign in Gaza, which has continued for over 100 days. Fighting intensified on Thursday, with IDF troops operating in the Khan Younis killing some 40 Hamas operatives over the past day, according to the military.

Troops of the Givati Brigade also raided the "Shuhada Outpost," a main stronghold belonging to Hamas’s South Khan Younis Battalion and the offices of the Hamas battalion commander, seizing many firearms and recovering intelligence documents.

More limited fighting continued in northern Gaza as well, with the army saying it killed several button men in tank and air strikes in areas where it says it has established "operational control."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli Airstrike on Damascus Takes Out 4 5 IRGC Members
[NewsMax] An Israeli missile strike on Syria's capital Damascus on Saturday killed four members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, including the head of the force's information unit, a security source in the regional pro-Syria alliance told Reuters.

In Tehran, the Revolutionary Guards named four military advisers who were killed in the Israeli strike, but did not give their rank, and said further details would be announced later. Iranian state television said the targeted building was the residence of Iranian advisers in the Syrian capital.

There was no immediate comment from Israel, which has long pursued a bombing campaign against Iran's military and security presence in Syria. It has shifted to deadlier strikes in the wake of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by militants of the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamist group Hamas from Gaza.

Syrian state media reported an Israeli "aerial attack" on a building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus and said Syrian air defenses had shot down a number of missiles.

The security source, part of a network of groups close to Syria's government and its major ally Iran, said the multi-story building was used by Iranian advisers supporting President Bashar al-Assad's government, and that it was completely flattened by "precision-targeted Israeli missiles."

The source said a fifth person was also killed but could not immediately identify the nationality.

Essam Al-Amin, head of the Al-Mowasat Hospital in Damascus, told Reuters that his hospital had received one corpse and three wounded people, including a woman, following Saturday's attack.

A Reuters witness in Mazzeh saw ambulances and fire trucks gathered around the site of the strike, which had been cordoned off. Rescue operations for people stuck under the rubble continued through the day.
Update from the Times of Israel at 12:30p.m. ET — we got names!
Nour News, which is believed to be close to Iran’s intelligence apparatus, has identified two of the dead in Damascus as Gen. Sadegh Omidzadeh, the intelligence deputy of the guard’s expeditionary Quds Force in Syria, and his deputy, who goes by the nom de guerre Hajj Gholam.

The guard later issued statements identifying the five dead as Hojjatollah Omidvar, Ali Aghazadeh, Hossein Mohammadi, Saeed Karimi and Mohammad Amin Samadi.

It gave no ranks for them.

The difference in information could not be immediately reconciled.

One mustn’t forget that putting a military target among civilians to use them as human shields against attack is a war crime. Any harm to the surrounding civilians is the fault of Hezbollah, which could have put that headquarters out in the countryside.

Heavy strikes on Ramia as border tensions escalate
[An Nahar] Head of Hezbollah's bloc in parliament Mohammed Raad said Friday that Israel "is not ready" for a war with Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
as Hezbollah would fight "with all its might."

Since the start of the Gazoo

war, Israel and Hezbollah have traded cross-border strikes with gradually escalating intensity, even though neither side is believed to seek an all-out war which is bound to devastate both countries.

Israeli warplanes carried out Friday two Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in a region between Kfarkila and Odaisseh and 12 airstrikes on the outskirts of the southern border town of Ramia, as drones struck a region near al-Tiri and Beit Yahoun.

Over 190 people have been killed in Lebanon during more than three months of violence, including more than 140 Hezbollah fighters and over 20 civilians, among them three journalists, according to an AFP tally.
That’s seriously good targetting by the IDF. Over in Gaza apparently about half of those killed are civilian human shields.
In northern Israel, nine soldiers and six civilians have been killed, according to Israeli authorities.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
said in a speech recently that if Israel started a war with Lebanon, the group would fight it "with no limits."
