Al-Shabaab militants attack police camp in Mandera
01/01/2024
[ShabelleMedia] Suspected al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
faceless myrmidons on Friday morning attacked the National Police Service’s (NPS) Quick Response Unit (QRU) Camp in Mandera County.

Police reports indicate that more than 20 heavily armed faceless myrmidons approached the camp from the northwest, initiating their assault within a proximity of 100 meters from the camp.

"Officers who were alert responded swiftly and engaged them for 15 minutes but managed to repulse them," a police report documenting the incident reads in part.

Officers based at the camp however retaliated, engaging the faceless myrmidons in a 15-minute intense shootout before the assailants fled.

No police officer was killed or injured during the incident.

"No injuries on our side and all officers accounted while on the enemy side pending confirmation during clearance at first light. Currently, the situation is under control," said the police report.

An official from the local community militia known as Ma’wisley confirmed the strike targeted Jeh Jeha area, south of the Mudug region, where the murderous Moslems were gathering.

"The operation took place in a place where al-Shabaab members gathered to plan an attack against an army base in the region," said Abdicasis Qobey, the Ma’wisley official.

The attack in the South of the Mudug region came as SNA and clan militia have been conducting air and ground operations targeting the al-Shabaab for the past few weeks.

Sudan: No progress on proposed peace talks as RSF leader agrees to ceasefire
[AFRICANEWS] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese paramilitary leader Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo said Thursday he was committed to a cease-fire to end the devastating war that has wrecked his country, even as fighting continues and there has been no progress on proposed peace talks between Dagalo and Sudan military chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan.

Dagalo, leader of the Rapid Support Forces, said in a statement following a meeting in Pretoria with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that he had briefed Ramaphosa on the "considerable efforts taken to end this war."

"I emphasized our unwavering commitment to cease hostilities," Dagalo said, although he didn't say if or when he would meet with Burhan. The warring generals agreed last month to a face-to-face meeting and to start talks over a possible cease-fire, according to the East African regional bloc IGAD.

No date or location for the talks have been announced.

During Thursday's meeting with Dagalo, Ramaphosa said he hoped there would be an "imminent face-to-face dialogue" between Dagalo and Burhan and called for an "immediate cease-fire," Ramaphosa's spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said.

Dagalo is on a tour of African countries. He met with Kenyan President William Ruto on Wednesday following visits to Uganda, Æthiopia and Djibouti.

Tensions between former allies Dagalo and Burhan erupted in all-out war in mid-April in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and elsewhere across the country. The fighting has killed more than 12,000 people, according to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
, while doctors and activists say the real corpse count is higher. More than 7 million people have been forced to leave their homes.

Despite talk of a cease-fire, the conflict has intensified. Last month, U.N. humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths said more than 500,000 people were forced to flee their homes in Jazeera province that had become a safe haven for civilians after the RSF attacked and took its capital, Wad Medani.

The RSF takeover prompted fears among Wad Medani residents that they would carry out atrocities in their city as they are accused of doing in Khartoum, and the Darfur region in western Sudan.

The U.S. State Department has said that both the RSF and the Sudanese military have committed war crimes or crimes against humanity during the nine-month conflict.

Griffiths, the U.N. undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, said in a statement Thursday that "the same horrific abuses that have defined this war in other hotspots — Khartoum, Darfur and Kordofan — are now being reported in Wad Medani.

"Given Wad Medani's significance as a hub for relief operations, the fighting there — and looting of humanitarian warehouses and supplies — is a body blow to our efforts to deliver food, water, health care and other critical aid," he said.

Griffiths said nearly 25 million people across Sudan will need humanitarian assistance in 2024 "but the bleak reality is that intensifying hostilities are putting most of them beyond our reach."

Deliveries from Chad to Darfur continue, but efforts to get aid elsewhere are increasingly under threat, he said, and "deliveries across conflict lines have ground to a halt."

Griffiths said the international community, especially those with influence on the parties, "must take decisive and immediate action to stop the fighting."

Libya: Two oil fields closed amid protests in Oubari
[AFRICANEWS] Protests over social demands have continued in southern Libya, and led to the closure of two oil fields in the Ubari region.

Libya's Sharara oilfield, which produces up to 300,000 barrels per day was first shut down on Wednesday while the el-Feel field was shut thursday according to engineers.

Building a hospital in Oubari, employing young people specialized in the oil sector, setting up a dedicated refinery in Fezzan to alleviate the chronic shortages of gas and petrol, are amongst the demands of the protesting residents.

"This is the only card we have to put pressure on Tripoli to grant us our rights," says Abou Bakr Abou Setta, president of the Fezzan rally.

The government in Tripoli has called for a "return to reason" and for oil production not to be involved in such problems.

Some analysts believe the protest illustrates the political divisions between the two parallel authorities vying for power in the country.

In Tripoli sits the Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh government, which enjoys international recognition while the parallel authority administers eastern Libya from Sirte, backed by the House in Tobruk and strongman Khalifa Haftar.

The oil and gas sector is a major source of Libya's revenue. In November 2023, the state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) said the country's daily oil production had reached 1.24 million barrels.

"Crude oil production reached 1,240,000 barrels per day, and condensate production reached 50,000 barrels per day during the past 24 hours," the firm said in a statement.

#1  6 JUly 2023: "Most of Libya’s oil fields are located in the east of the country, Haftar's stronghold. However, Tripoli-based National Oil Corporation, NOC, is the body responsible for the oil sector operations in the country. Libyan economist Mohamed Safi told VOA that "Prime Minister Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah's monopoly on the oil revenues contributed to fueling Haftar's threats." Haftar's remarks were preceded by several threats from the authorities in eastern Libya to block oil production over the Tripoli government's use of energy revenues."
Now the south wants in on the act.

ISWAP Leader, Ba'a Shuwa, Scores Of Fighters Reportedly Killed By Nigerian Military Airstrikes
[SAHARAREPORTERS] The Nigerian military has reportedly eliminated the Nigerian leader of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of West Africa Province (ISWAP), Ba’a Shuwa.

According to a report posted by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, on X (formerly Twitter), on Friday, the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s also eliminated scores of Shuwa's fighters in the North East of Borno during a major offensive.

According to Zagazola, Ba'a Shuwa was the ISWAP leader of the Nigerian Wylayat, Lake Chad, Kwalfarji, Timbuktu Farouq and Sambisa Mantika of the ISIS-affiliated ISWAP.

Citing intelligence sources, Zagazola said the damaging airstrikes were carried out on January 2, 2023 at Kwatan Dilla, in the Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zagazola said that Shuwa was appointed in 2021 after Abubakar Shekau
...the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down. Last seen in 2017, sneaking into Cameroon while wearing a burka...
killed himself
Ah. We kind of lost track of the rump Boko Haram at that point — ISWAP had all the attention...
and that he commanded forces of Evil in Chiralia, Markas Kauwa, Abirma, Buk, Abulam, Dusula, Abbagajiri, Gorgore and many other camps within the Timbuktu and Alagarno axes in the South of Borno.

He identified some of his top commanding officers as Khaid Hanzala, Ba'a Idirisa, Rawana, Abou Ibrahim, Mallam Abubakar, Abou Aisha and Abou Khalid who was responsible for the recent attack on the electricity towers along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
That’s one way to make friends and influence people, I guess.
According to him, Ba'a Shuwa and his group of forces of Evil were mostly responsible for attacks, ambushes and IED/mine towards Damboa roads, Damaturu-Maiduguri, Askira, Buratai, Buni Yadi, Buni Gari, Gaidam and other parts of Borno and Yobe states.

Arabia
India: Navy deployed after threats against Liberian ship
[AFRICANEWS] Indian Navy commandos boarded a Liberian-flagged bulk carrier that had been the subject of an attempted hijacking in the Arabian Sea and began clearance operations, the navy said on Friday.

"It's a big ship. It will take time because the commando group has to check every compartment of the ship to clear it of any pirates and there may be a confrontation," said Commander Mehul Karnik, a front man for the Marine.

The UK 's maritime commercial operations monitor said on Friday that the search had been completed and no pirates had been found on board, but the Indian navy said it could not yet confirm this information.

The ship sent a message to the UKMTO portal saying it had been boarded by five or six unknown gunnies on Thursday evening, the navy said in a statement. The Navy diverted a vessel deployed for maritime security operations to assist the MV Lila Norfolk, the statement said.

Ambrey, a maritime intelligence company, said the bulk carrier began drifting 670 km east of Hafun, Somalia, adding that its crew included 15 Indian nationals.

The Navy said a patrol aircraft flew over the ship early Friday, established contact with the crew and ensured they were safe. The aircraft continues to monitor the aircraft carrier's movements.

According to Mr. Karnik, the crew members said they were in their vault and that is where they were operating the ship from.

The situation is being closely monitored in coordination with other agencies present in the area, the navy added.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the attack. Attacks by Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebels have sparked growing concerns about shipping in the region.
One India’s triumphal report:
The Indian Navy swiftly responded on Friday to a perilous situation involving a Liberian-flagged ship carrying 15 Indian nationals, which faced an attempted hijacking by pirates near Somalia's coast. Mobilizing its elite Marine Commandos (Marcos), the Navy successfully evacuated all 21 individuals on board, ensuring their safety.

Confirmation from the Navy declared the ship clear of hijackers after a thorough sanitization operation. This outcome was likely influenced by a warning issued by the Navy's maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), deterring the pirates' intentions to take over the vessel.

The Navy had cautioned the pirates, signaling that an interception by an Indian Naval warship was imminent.

Earlier reports revealed that the merchant vessel had communicated via the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) portal, reporting an intrusion by five to six unidentified armed individuals on the evening of January 4.

Multiple resources were deployed by the Indian Navy, including the INS Chennai warship, maritime patrol aircraft P-8I, and the long-range Predator MQ9B drone, to assist the threatened vessel. Upon interception by INS Chennai at 3:15 pm in the North Arabian Sea, a thorough inspection confirmed the absence of any hijackers.

INS Chennai currently remains near the Liberian-flagged MV Lila Norfolk, offering comprehensive aid to restore the vessel's power generation and propulsion systems. The primary objective is to ensure the safe continuation of its voyage to the next port of call, reaffirming the Navy's commitment to maritime security and safety.

Jewish-owned Toronto deli set ablaze in suspected antisemitic arson attack
[IsraelTimes] A Jewish-owned delicatessen in Toronto was set alight yesterday in what police are investigating as a hate crime.

Firefighters were alerted to a blaze inside International Delicatessen Foods, located in the north of Canada’s largest city. No one was injured, according to Toronto media reports.

Graffiti reading "Free Paleostine" had been painted on the doors of the establishment.

The business was named in local media as "International Deli Foods," with a large red sign above the door reading IDF.
Cute
Toronto Police Staff Superintendent Pauline Gray says the arson attack was a crime and could not be considered a lawful protest.

"It’s criminal. It’s violent mostly peaceful, targeted and organized. We’ll use all resources available to investigate, arrest and prosecute those who are responsible for this," she says.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow posts on social media that "acts of antisemitism, hate and violence are not welcome here."
Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s Progressive Conservative education minister, wrote that there have been “brazen attacks on synagogues, Jewish schools & businesses” across the GTA.
...Greater Toronto Area...
The business, which specializes in European foods, and often prints its flyers in Russian, also had windows smashed and was defaced with "Free Paleostine" graffiti, police said.

The store’s front entrance carries the initials "IDF," the same as those used for the Israel Defense Forces. After the fire, municipal representatives reported that the store is owned by a Jewish family originally from Russia.

Last month, Toronto police said there has been a major increase in hate-motivated crimes in the city, fuelled by tensions related to the Israel-Hamas
...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip and Israel — and Dec. 17, there were 98 hate crimes reported to police, compared to 48 in the same time period in 2022.

Of them, police said, 56 were antisemitic and 20 were anti-Moslem/Paleostinian/Arab; 53 per cent of all hate crimes in that period were antisemitic in nature.

The grocery store, located in a strip mall less than two kilometres from York University, is a picture of any suburban ethnic grocer. Its windows feature colossal photos of food, advertising its catering business and products for sale. Its neighbouring businesses include a hairdresser, Long and McQuade music shop, a dentist and a convenience store.

But perhaps the most vociferous condemnation came from Roman Baber, a former Conservative leadership candidate who used to represent the riding of York Centre in the Ontario Legislative Assembly.

"Today’s fire in a Jewish-owned grocery store in York Centre is a dangerous new low in what has morphed into an out of control situation," Baber said Wednesday, calling it "a pivotal moment in Canadian history" and implying that the law was not being applied equally in responding to anti-Jewish hate incidents.

India-Pakistan
2 terrorists, including ‘high-value target’, killed in Tank operation: ISPR
[Dawn] Two terrorists, including a “high-value target”, were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Friday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an operation late last night on the “reported presence of terrorists”.

“After an intense fire exchange, two terrorists, including HVT Gul Yousaf Toor, were sent to hell,” it said.

The ISPR stated that Toor had “remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces, including high-profile terrorist attacks in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts as well as extortion and target killing of innocent civilians”.

“He was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies and [the] government had fixed head money of Rs2.5 million on him,” the ISPR added.

The military said residents of the area appreciated the security forces’ efforts in “maintaining peace and stability in the area”.

“Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement concluded.

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in the past year, especially in KP and Balochistan after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan had ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.

In the deadliest attack on security forces in the outgoing year, at least 23 Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred and more than 30 troops wounded on Dec 12 after militants belonging to the Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan stormed a compound used by the military in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area.

According to an annual security report issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Pakistan witnessed 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations in 2023 — marking a record six-year high.

KP and Balochistan provinces were the primary centres of violence, accounting for over 90 per cent of all fatalities and 84pc of attacks, including incidents of terrorism and security forces operations.

Sunni Ulema Council's Maulana Masoodur Rehman Usmani gunned down in Islamabad
[GEO.TV] Prominent religious figure and Sunni Ulema Council’s Maulana Masoodur Rehman Usmani was killed in Islamabad’s Ghauri town area on Friday, reported Geo News.

The incident happened when unknown assailants — on a motorcycle — opened fire on Usmani’s vehicle in the federal capital’s Ghauri town area.

Meanwhile, the religious body’s spokesperson Yasir Qasmi has also confirmed the death of the council’s central deputy general secretary.

In a statement, the Islamabad police said that one person was killed and another was injured after a vehicle was fired upon within Khanna police station’s jurisdiction.

A heavy contingent of the police is present at the crime scene, the statement from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police stated.

“[The police] are tracing the perpetrators with the help of [footages taken from] close circuit television (CCTV) cameras.”

Those responsible will be soon brought to justice, the police reassured.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon has reached the Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences (PIMS) — where the deceased’s dead body was transferred after the incident.

The incident comes days after former member of National Assembly and National Democratic Movement (NDM) leader Mohsin Dawar's convoy came under a gun attack by terrorists in Tappi village North Waziristan.

However, the politician escaped unharmed as the security personnel accompanying Dawar fired back at the assailants, which forced them to flee from the scene, North Waziristan District Police Officer (DPO) Rohan Zaib confirmed to Geo News.

Earlier, the convoy of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also come under attack a few days ago in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan.

Ever since the Taliban-led administration took over neighbouring Afghanistan, Pakistan has witnessed a notable surge in terror incidents across the country with terror attacks reaching the highest level in 2023 since 2014.

According to the publication, columns of smoke were visible in the area of the base and the sound of an explosion was heard. Information about the consequences of the attack is not provided.

As Regnum reported, on December 25, an American military base in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq was hit by an unmanned aerial vehicle. Several people were injured in the attack, which was claimed by the Shiite Islamic Resistance of Iraq movement.

Later, the Pentagon announced strikes by the US Armed Forces on three targets of the Kataib Hezbollah group and associated groups in Iraq. The department emphasized that this attack is a response to attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria.

Barking battalions: How four-legged warriors shield IDF troops in Gaza
[YNet] In a series of operations within the Gaza Strip, the IDF's elite Oketz K-9 Unit (operates with specially trained dogs for missions), has been instrumental in neutralizing threats and ensuring the safety of soldiers during ground operations. The unit, known for its skilled combat soldiers and highly trained dogs, has been actively accompanying troops, particularly in high-risk raids on terrorist infrastructure.

In many instances, the unit's canines have taken the lead in initial scanning operations. Before soldiers enter potentially dangerous areas, these dogs are sent ahead to identify threats, locate weapons and map out structures. This advanced scouting has been crucial in preventing harm to the forces and has significantly contributed to the success of the missions.

A recent operation with the 460th Brigade in the Jabaliya area highlighted the unit's critical role. A dog named Patrick was sent ahead to scan a building before the troops entered. Patrick's keen senses allowed him to detect a terrorist poised to ambush the soldiers at the entrance. His prompt neutralization of the threat prevented a likely escalation and potential casualties among the forces.

In another notable incident in the Gaza City's upscale Al-Rimal districtt, a dog named Toy discovered a hidden corridor during a scan. This corridor connected the building where the soldiers were positioned to another structure where a terrorist lay in wait. Toy's actions not only neutralized the immediate threat but also saved the force from entering a perilously trapped environment.
Why am I expecting protest from SPCA any minute? And will they condemn cruelty to Oketz' dogs or to Allan's dogs?

SLAM - Simultaneous Localization and Mapping is a technique that allows an autonomous vehicle robot dog to figure out where it is and build a map of its surroundings at the same time. Quite handy for mapping mine shafts or tunnels.

[IsraelTimes] Mohammad Shweiki, 21, indicted for singing to crowds and posting clips to social media of his support for terror actions, including allegiance to head of Hamas

military wing.

State prosecutors charged a wedding singer from Jerusalem Tuesday with incitement to terror for songs he performed in public and video clips he posted to social media in which he allegedly showed support for terrorism, including allegiance to the military leader of the Hamas terror group.

An indictment against Mohammad
"Shecky"
Shweiki, 21, was filed at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, accusing him of incitement to terror and identifying with a terror organization, the State Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

According to court papers, Shweiki is the manager and lead singer in a group that performs at weddings and other events where he has sang inciting material in front of large crowds.

Also, on various occasions, he posted clips from performances that allegedly included inciting material to his account on video sharing network TikTok, prosecutors said.

In one video, he sang "Take up the sword, wave the sword, we are the people of Mohammed Deif," a reference to the leader of Hamas’s military wing.

In another incident, at a wedding in al-Ram, northeast of Jerusalem, he sang to the crowd "Ben Gvir, Alqam Khayri took your eye out," a reference to far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and the Paleostinian terrorist who rubbed out seven people and injured three others in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem last January.

Prosecutors asked that he be held until the end of proceedings.

The incidents were all before the devastating October 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel that killed over 1,200 people, most of them civilians.

, the State Attorney’s Office has indicted dozens of Israeli citizens and residents of East Jerusalem for incitement to terrorism and identification with terror organizations, mostly for social media posts in which they praised or supported the unprecedented terror attack against Israel.

The indictments have been filed against social media users who posted pictures of the Hamas fighters who perpetrated the October 7 atrocities and described them as "heroes," praised the massacres in different ways, called on people to participate in confrontations with Israeli security forces, and called for Hezbollah to attack Israel.

’s al-Bureij

The Israel Defense Forces said Friday it carried out strikes on more than 100 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip over the past day, hitting a range of facilities used by the terror group, as intense battles continued in the central and southern areas of the enclave. The strikes in Gaza, carried out by air, sea and ground forces, hit Hamas command centers, launch positions, weapons depots and other infrastructure, according to the IDF.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
rocket sirens blared north of the Gaza border on Friday. One rocket hit a building in the southern city of Sderot, a spokeswoman for the city said. A second rocket fell outside of the city. No injuries were reported, although the building was damaged in the direct impact.

Rocket fire has drastically declined as the army has tightened its control over the Strip, but the military has warned that the terror group still has capabilities to launch projectiles into Israel.

The operations came as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant presented his vision for a four-pronged plan for how to handle the Gaza Strip after the ongoing war with the terror group ends, with the IDF retaining full military control but no civilian presence, and local Paleostinian authorities playing a central role in civil affairs. It was the first time a senior Israeli official had presented a scenario for the day after the war and was meant to be discussed in a cabinet session Thursday night, which instead descended into a loud and angry dustup when right-wing ministers cried foul over IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi’s plans for the army to probe its own mistakes during the October 7 massacre.

In central Gaza’s al-Bureij, the military said troops of the Border Defense Corps’ 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit spotted a group of Hamas operatives attempting to attack an IDF tank. Troops launched a pursuit after the button men used a drone, and the army called in a fighter jet Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
after the operatives were spotted fleeing into a building, the IDF said, publishing footage of the strike.

In southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, reservists of the Kiryati Brigade found several rocket launch sites used to fire projectiles at Israel. The IDF said the troops destroyed the launchers and killed "many" Hamas operatives during several battles in the area.

The IDF also stated it completed an operation in a central Gaza neighborhood, where troops located tunnel shafts, booby-trapped homes and weapons. Troops of the 646th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade and elite Yahalom combat engineering unit were operating in the neighborhood over the past week, in an area dubbed by the IDF "the towers neighborhood" after its high-rise buildings.

"The buildings of the neighborhood were used as anti-tank missile and machine gun fire positions," the IDF said.

It said troops battled and killed many Hamas button men, and located several primed rocket launchers, booby-trapped buildings, tunnel shafts and bombs during operations in the neighborhood. The IDF said troops also found a warehouse and chemical lab used to manufacture weapons. Combat engineers destroyed the Hamas infrastructure, including tunnels in the area.

#3  irish rage boy, they probably use a "shoot and scoot" strategy. Hitting the launch site may not do any good, since the launchers are gone by the time the air strike arrives. Plus they probably use a "civilian" site to launch.

Strip.

Troops of the 14th Reserve Armored Brigade alongside the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit recently raided the hotel, which was used by Hamas operatives to attack Israeli troops in early November.

The soldiers discovered at least seven tunnel shafts in the area of the hotel, leading to an underground network of passages where Hamas operatives hid, the IDF says.

The IDF says troops recovered in the underground site assault rifles, bombs and drones used by Hamas.

In November, the IDF said troops killed around 30 Hamas button men who were holed up in the hotel, firing anti-tank missiles at the forces.

The tunnels, which were recently investigated by troops, were demolished by combat engineers, the IDF says.

Reservists of the 14th Brigade have been operating in northern Gaza over the past two months, battling Hamas operatives and destroying the terror group’s infrastructure.

The brigade is one of the five that are now being withdrawn from the Strip.

has become uninhabitable after the relentless offensive by Israeli forces in the occupied territory, said UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths.

"Gaza has simply become uninhabitable. Its people are witnessing daily threats to their very existence -- while the world watches on," Griffiths said in a statement.

"The humanitarian community has been left with the impossible mission of supporting more than two million people."

"We continue to demand an immediate end to the war, not just for the people of Gaza and its threatened neighbors, but for the generations to come who will never forget these 90 days of hell and of assaults on the most basic precepts of humanity," Griffiths said.

"This war should never have started. But it´s long past time for it to end."

Iran detains 11 suspects in connection with the terrorist attack in Kerman, US sez it’s ISIS-Khorason
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Iranian law enforcement officers detained 11 people on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist attack near a cemetery in the city of Kerman, the Tasnim news agency reported on January 5, citing the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence.

Law enforcement officers also discovered a house in which two suicide bombers lived, and in it there were explosive devices, including explosive belts, the report said.

In turn, the Fars news agency, citing data from the Iranian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reported that law enforcement officers detained several suspects and discovered “important evidence.” The remains of two suicide bombers were found at the site of the explosions, the report noted.

As Regnum reported earlier, on January 3, during a mourning ceremony on the anniversary of the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qassem Soleimani, who was buried in a cemetery in Kerman, two explosions occurred. The victims of the terrorist attack were 89 people, including 39 minors. More than 200 people were injured.

The Islamic State (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) took responsibility for the explosion. Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei threatened the organizers of the terrorist attack with a harsh response.
Go for it, guys!
On January 5, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced the detention of a number of people involved in the terrorist attack.

Soleimani was killed on January 3, 2020, as a result of an airstrike by American forces near Baghdad airport. The Pentagon said that the strike was carried out on the personal orders of then-US President Donald Trump.

Trump later noted that US authorities consider it acceptable to eliminate the country's opponents and that the CIA has organized many such killings in the past. Iran responded to the killing of Soleimani with a strike on American military bases in Iraq, and also imposed sanctions against the alleged organizers of the murder.
Iranian authorities say that security forces had arrested 11 people suspected of involvement in two bomb blasts that killed nearly 100 people at a memorial service for a slain military commander.

Iran’s intelligence ministry says in a statement security forces detained two people for providing support to the two suicide bombers in Kerman and nine others based in other parts of Iran who were suspected of links to the incident.

US intelligence confirms Islamic State’s Afghanistan branch behind Iran blasts — sources

[IsraelTimes] Communications intercepts collected by the United States confirmed that Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s Afghanistan-based branch carried out twin bombings in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
that killed nearly 100 people, two sources familiar with the intelligence told Rooters on Friday.

"The intelligence is clear cut and indisputable," one source said.

That source and a second, both of whom requested anonymity to discuss the sensitive issue, said that the intelligence comprised communications intercepts without providing further details. The collection of the intercepts has not been previously reported.
