Among the consequences of this designation, all of Abukar Ali Adan’s property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with him.
Further investigations show that Adan is associated with al-Qa’ida affiliates al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula and al-Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb. The Alshabaab turbans have been carrying terror attacks in Kenya and Somalia for almost 16 years.
"The terrorist group continues to plot, plan, and conspire to commit terrorist acts against the United States, U.S. interests, and foreign partners," the department said. The US has been a key security stakeholder in the East and the Horn of Africa.
The Department of State designated al-Shabaab as a Foreign Terrorist Organization [FTO] and SDGT in March 2008. In April 2010, al-Shabaab was also added to the 1844 Sanctions List by the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolution 751 [1992] concerning al-Shabaab.
Last week, the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia revealed that al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Diriye alias Abu Ubaida and the group's finance controller Mahad Karate had been in serious wrangles, leading to infighting between factions identifying themselves with the two.
The move, Somalia said, weakens the turbans further to the advantage of the Somali National Army which is currently spearheading an operation against the bad boys. A gun is not a magic wand. A hand gun requires a lot of training. In any case, the tragedy in Gaza Envelope happened because people were sheltering from rockets. In cases were they did get weapons, it were assult rifles and Hamas attackers died.

No and it does require some training to use effectively. I would rather have some fellow CCW people around me than everyone disarmed, even if they are not at soldier level effectiveness. One determined asshole with a gun, even untrained, can put some serious hurt on the other fellows. If I was the Israeli government, I would be starting to foster a good gun culture there. Despite Israel's history, there has never been a real gun culture there and the people you see carrying M-16s are reservists that are required to have one on them at all times. Once out, the guns are pretty rapidly abandoned unless you are a West Bank settler.

[American Thinker] Renowned journalist and Middle East expert Caroline Glick says Israel is now facing dangers from a quarter no one anticipated: the Biden administration.
During yesterday’s broadcast of "The Caroline Glick Show" on JNS TV, Glick outlined how her own sources described what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Speaking from her home in Israel, Glick said, "We are in danger of losing ... sovereign control over our military."
She then presented what sources told her really happened when secretary of state Tony Blinken met with Israel’s war cabinet on Monday.
"From what came out of the meeting, Tony Blinken wasn’t trying to help Israel at all. What he was doing was demanding that Israel enable resupply to Gaza, the euphemism of which is ’humanitarian aid.’" She continued to say that Blinken threatened to withhold American war materiel from Israel, such as bunker buster bombs and regular ordinance.
And Israel didn’t just decide to invite Biden. His administration demanded that Israel invite him, she said, adding, "I don’t know; ask his presidential campaign."
While Israel’s forces have been being held in limbo at the Gaza border, those charged with carrying out the mission began demanding they be allowed to go in. They cited difficulties in maintaining the readiness and morale of troops as well as a loss of the momentum they had after the October 7 massacre. Glick said that lapse in time also allowed the international media to turn on Israel. "We have all these Hamas supporters throughout the Western world who are feeling empowered, and not unreasonably given the backing they’re receiving from the media."
Most disturbingly, Glick said commanders at the southern border were told, "We can’t do anything until Biden leaves. So that Biden is literally acting as a human shield for Hamas — so long as he hasn’t arrived yet, and hasn’t left yet, their terror state is going to be free from invasion."
She continued to stress that demands to get humanitarian aid to Gaza are demands to resupply Hamas because they control every person and inch of land in Gaza. She then pointed to a tweet from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA) that read: "UNWRA received reports that yesterday a group of people with trucks purporting to be from the Ministry of Health of the de facto authorities in Gaza, removed fuel and medical equipment from the Agency’s compound in Gaza City." That tweet quickly disappeared as fast as UNWRA "put up this thing disavowing the social media posts claiming that Hamas had been plundering their offices." Ironically, Glick said that reports that have come out over the past many years have shown that most of the UNRWA employees in Gaza are members of Hamas.
According to Glick, this further supports the fact that Tony Blinken sat for seven hours with Israel’s war cabinet demanding they resupply Hamas.
Just before Glick’s broadcast was released, UNRWA reported that an alleged Israeli strike on an UNRWA school had killed six people, and that Israel showed "a flagrant disregard for the lives of civilians," adding, "No place is safe in Gaza anymore, not even UNRWA facilities."
But again, as Glick points out, Hamas has a history of launching its missiles from beneath UNWRA schools and hospitals.
Making matters worse, the U.S. said they would supply Israel with the bombs, but they weren’t allowed to use them against the missile launching sites — i.e., the UNRWA schools and hospitals.

Military strategist Deif and political leader Sinwar have already spent time in Israeli or Paleostinian jails and been the targets of multiple liquidation attempts.
The hunt for the two most Hamas big turbans in the beleaguered Gaza Strip will be fierce this time. Israeli military front man Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht called Sinwar the "face of evil" and declared him a "dead man walking."

Deif was born Mohammed Diab al-Masri in 1965. His assumed name means "Guest" in Arabic, and he reportedly never spends more than one night in the same place. Deif's wife and at least one child were killed in an Israeli air strike during the 2014 Gaza war.
Deif has reportedly lost one eye and been disabled by the various attempts, but it has not weakened his influence. He has been involved with Hamas since the 1980s and was arrested at the start of the second intifada but escaped, or was released, from a Paleostinian Authority prison in 2000. He became head of the Hamas military wing in 2002 and has been Israel's bete noire ever since.
