America's biggest airlines ground planes as they launch desperate search for THOUSANDS of jet engine parts sold with fake safety certificates
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Prob won't see impact on .MIL aircraft
  • At least 126 engines across a number of airlines were found to include parts from a jet supplier company under investigation

  • AOG Technics, a middleman in the aviation industry, is accused of mass-producing fake safety certificates

  • Fears are mounting over the aviation industry's safety oversight measures amid the scandal

  • AOG Technics has also faced allegations it faked employees and was using stock photographs for fictitious staffers on LinkedIn
"Your girlfriend? Isn't that Morgan Fairchild?"
    "Yeaaaahhh. That's the ticket!"

  • The most affected engine model was found to be a CFM56, which alarmingly holds the record for most engines ever sold to airlines at over 33,900.

  • In the UK, where the company lists it address, a judge this week ordered the company to turn over its parts sales documents, and the full extent of the scandal could grow as the records are assessed

#2  ^ Possibly.
The WSJ reported that it visited the company's listed address in London, near Buckingham Palace, where reception and security staff said they had not heard of the company.

A representative for the building that leases the spaces told the outlet that AOG Technics was a virtual client and did not hold a space in the location.

I do certification work for CFM. The tracking is monumental. But it wouldn't be impossible for someone to fake an entire paper trail, which happened here. It's absolutely, positively a criminal organization doing this, and someone knew how to do it.

#8  What's interesting is, the ISO certifications that this is about dodging (tracability), was foisted on the US by EU because the US didn't have to pay to assimilate the east european countries.
(The EU had to spend a lot on checking and certifying east europe manufacturers, and so decided to force the procedure on the US to kill any price advantage. This created the "ISO" regime that you see on banners everywhere.)
Prior to that, individual companies checked up on suppliers on their own.
People in the audience, raise your hands if you remember 'inspection audits'.

#9  Ref #2 and Frank G. "A representative for the building that leases the spaces told the outlet that AOG Technics was a virtual client and did not hold a space in the location."

The airlines need to scour out their legal departments as well as the purchasing staff. They literally had purchase contracts costing millions of dollars from a company that had no actual physical location and no one noticed? Another proof that our current generation of business elites are naive children!

Commander removed from the White House
[Gateway] President Biden’s dog, Commander, has been removed from the White House campus, amid multiple biting incidents.

"The President and First Lady care deeply about the safety of those who work at the White House and those who protect them every day," Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for the First Lady Jill Biden told Fox News.

"They remain grateful for the patience and support of the U.S. Secret Service and all involved, as they continue to work through solutions," Alexander added. "Commander is not presently on the White House campus while next steps are evaluated."

Most recently, Commander bit a Secret Service agent on White House grounds last month.

This incident marks the 11th known incident of Commander biting White House or Secret Service personnel. Conservative legal activist group Judicial Watch previously obtained reports of the 10 previous incidents of Commander terrorizing staff from October 2022 through January 2023.

This is the fault of the Bidens, not the dog.

Africa Subsaharan
Guinea: Trial of septembre 2009 massacre resumes
[AFRICANEWS] Proceedings in the trial of the September 28, 2009, massacre in Guinea, resumed in Conakry on Tuesday (Oct. 3) after a judicial recess.

Guinea's former strongman Moussa Dadis Camara and 10 former military and government officials are accused of the killing of 156 people and the rape of at least 109 women, carried out by security forces loyal to the then-junta leaders.

Those who lost loved ones or carry scars on the tragic day wouldn't have missed this day despite concerns over the financing of the court proceeding, and hypothetical compensations.

A meticulous president and countless lawyers have been questioning the accused and witnesses to establish responsibilities and seek to know, among many things, whether captain Moussa Dadis Camara ordered the crimes, consented to them or could have prevented them.

"I'm very satisfied, I'm really very satisfied this morning. With this resumption, I'm sure we can move forward," the president of victims' association Asmaou Diallo said.

"It's not just his (Moussa Thiégboro Camara's) men. He was there himself. He led the mission, you see. So everything we suffered came from his direct orders, his men, the orders came from Colonel Thiégboro," Mamadou Kaly Diallo, a victim says.

The trial opened on the anniversary date in 2022 and has suffered several delays due to a protest movement by prison guards and a lawyers' strike.

"We're delighted indeed [about the resumption] because this is a long-running trial, involving mass crimes, Halimatou Camara, a victims' lawyer says.

"We've been at it for a year now, and we hope that in the coming months we'll be able to bring this trial to an end."

"When there's no proof, even if you mention Colonel Thiegboro's name from start to finish of the trial it means absolutely nothing. We need to provide proof. Where is Laurent Gbagbo
... Former President-for-Life of Ivory Coast from 2000 to 2011. Laurent lost to Alassane Ouattara in 2010 but his representtive tore up the results on the teevee and he refused to vacate the presidential palace. French troops assisted the Oattara forces in extricating him from his Fuhrerbunker...
today? He's in Ivory Coast. Where is Charles Blé Goudé? He's in Ivory Coast. Simply because they were summoned by the ICC and there was no evidence, they were simply acquitted. They came back to Ivory Coast."

Representatives of the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
, blocs including ECOWAS and the EU are among many welcoming "the progress made in the quest for justice for the victims".

75,000 union health care workers at Kaiser Permanente go on strike Wednesday
[FoxNews] Unions say it is the largest strike of health care workers in US history.

More than 75,000 Kaiser Permanente employees walked off the job on Wednesday in what their union representatives say is the largest strike of health care workers in U.S. history.

A coalition of labor unions representing the workers notified the company last month that it planned to carry out a three-day strike starting Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. PT if a new contract was not reached in time. The previous contract expired Saturday.

The strike will impact hundreds of hospitals spanning several states, with picket lines in California, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

The health care workers' unions are calling for increased staffing levels at Kaiser Permanente hospitals, saying the facilities are in the midst of a "short-staffing crisis" that is unsafe and could lead to patients facing dangerously long wait times, mistaken diagnoses and neglect. The unions also accuse the hospital conglomerate of committing unfair labor practices.

"Kaiser executives are refusing to listen to us and are bargaining in bad faith over the solutions we need to end the Kaiser short-staffing crisis," said Jessica Cruz, a licensed vocational nurse at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, in a prepared statement.

"I see my patients’ frustrations when I have to rush them and hurry on to my next patient. That’s not the care I want to give," Cruz continued. "We’re burning ourselves out trying to do the jobs of two or three people, and our patients suffer when they can't get the care they need due to Kaiser's short-staffing."

One of the coalition unions, SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, held a demonstration at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in early September to protest working conditions at the hospital. The event reportedly drew thousands, and some protesters formed a human chain.

Portuguese Drivers Remove Climate Activists Blocking Highway
[Fox News] Portuguese drivers lost patience with climate activists blocking a busy highway during rush hour traffic Tuesday morning and took the situation into their own hands.

According to the Portugal Resident, activists from a group called Climáximo, sat on Lisbon’s Segunda Circular highway to protest the nearby energy company Galp. Two protesters also hung from cables on a pedestrian bridge overlooking the highway.

However, the protest reportedly ended after just a few minutes when frustrated drivers decided to move the activists themselves.

The group believes governments and companies around the world have "declared war on people and the planet" in a "premeditated and coordinated act of violence."

"They are right now killing thousands of people, dumping tens of millions, burning them alive, drowning them. They are right now condemning millions of people to gas chambers, only this time, the gases are greenhouse gases and the chamber is the entire planet. This is called climate breakdown and it is a premeditated and coordinated act of violence," the activists claim on their website.
We got over an inch of rain last night, in North Texas, ending two months of 'burning them alive'.

Germany approves bringing coal-fired power plants back online this winter
BERLIN, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Germany's cabinet on Wednesday approved putting on-reserve lignite-fired power plants back online from October until the end of March 2024, the economy ministry said, as a step to replace scarce natural gas this winter and avoid shortages.

In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and a sudden drop in Russian gas imports to Germany, Berlin reactivated coal-fired power plants and extended their lifespans, with a total output of 1.9 gigawatt hours generated last winter.

Despite gas bottlenecks easing since last winter with new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal deliveries, coal-fired power plans will be reactivated and the government will make proposals by summer next year on how to offset increased carbon dioxide these plants will generate this winter.

Elon Musk and the ADL seem to have patched things up
[HotAir] You may recall that a month ago Elon Musk announced on X that he was considering a lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League.

...This followed arguments between Musk and the ADL earlier this summer after Musk made some comments about George Soros.

In a tweet late Monday, Musk compared him to X-Men villain Magneto, who like Soros was a survivor of the Holocaust, according to the comics’ back story for the character. When a Twitter user defended Soros as having good intentions which are criticized by those who disagree with his politics, Musk responded, "You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity."
IMO, an important principle involved here. Saying that a particular member of some group is a piece of $hit, doesn't mean a hostility to the whole group. On the side of ADL, there's the fact that anti-Semitic propaganda has a standard format "One Jew is bad, therefore all Jews...". But, "people" to whom that argument is addressed are already convinced.
