Afghanistan
Unidentified Gunmen Fatally Shoot Man in Ghor Province
[8am] Local sources in Ghor province have reported that unidentified button men riding cycle of violences targeted and killed a man in the province on Saturday, September 30, in the area of "Maidanak-e Rezaha" in the city of Firuzkoh.

According to witnesses interviewed by Hasht-e Subh, the victim was identified as "Mullah Jalal," a shopkeeper in the "Maidanak-e Rezaha" area. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.

This incident follows a similar tragedy last year when Mullah Jalal’s brother, Mawlavi Abdul Matin, a professor at the Darul Uloom of Ghor province, was also killed by unidentified button men.
That sure makes it sound like the Taliban are out to wipe out the family in their inimitable taqfiri way.
The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have not issued any statements regarding this recent incident.

Regrettably, Ghor province has witnessed a surge in such incidents in recent months. Not long ago, unidentified armed individuals also fatally shot a shopkeeper in the Teyora district of the province.

Daily Evacuation Brief October 1, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN MEET A WALL OF RESISTANCE AT MOSCOW FORMAT SUMMIT – While the Taliban regime attempted to leverage the fact that they had been invited to the Moscow Format meeting as a sign it was being recognized, the reality on the ground in Kazakhstan has surely returned expectations to earth. The representatives of international and regional states who attended the meeting basically took the Taliban Foreign Minister to task for a multitude of concerns. The organizers of the meeting brushed past claims from Muttaqi about the absence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan and called on Kabul to dismantle the groups that are ‘known’ to be operating from within Afghanistan. They then read off a litany of additional concerns about the lack of ethnic representation in the government, human and women’s rights, and the narcotics trade as precursors to any real engagement. Observers at the conference said that Russia and Iran were perturbed that the Taliban continued to make appeals to the US and had basically warned the Taliban that further cooperation could damage relations in the future. The stern messaging from the conference will be difficult to spin for the Taliban regime.

  • PAKISTANI AUTHORITIES IMPLICATE THE INDIAN INTELLIGENCE SERVICES IN DEADLY SUICIDE ATTACKS – The Interior Minister, Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has said that the Indian Intelligence Agency - Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was behind the two attacks this past week. The Minister did not provide any proof but said the regime was aware of a plan to destabilize the government and that an investigation was underway to discover all the pertinent details. Several news outlets presented a conflicting theory that ISIS-K was likely responsible for the attacks and pointed to an attack carried out by the terror group just days prior in the Mastung District. As of publication, no arrests had been announced in either case.

  • TALIBAN DELEGATION IN TEHRAN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNITY CONFERENCE – The delegation was invited by Iran’s embassy in Kabul and is expected to take part in discussions about some secular matters of importance to Tehran. Chief amongst these will be the issue of water rights.

Al-Shabaab kidnaps, kills chief's brother in Kenya
[Garowe] Suspected al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
bully boyz have kidnapped a brother to a senior administrator in Garissa, authorities reported, with Kenya increasing surveillance along the mostly non-existent border with Somalia which the fighters have been using to intensify their radical agenda.

According to officials, the bully boyz raided the home of Mr. Yakub Kussow, the chief of Yumbis in the Fafi constituency, and kidnapped Abdirashid Hassan Hanshi alias Juma, his brother who was at the scene during the incident. The bully boyz were pursuing the chief.

"They were targeting the administrator but failed to get him, and instead kidnapped his brother whom they later killed at the outskirts of the Trading Centre," the report read in part.

Sources within security teams say the incident happened at least five days after intelligence reports indicated that the bully boyz would attack the area. It is not clear why the security teams within the region did not respond to the alert, despite having prior information.

The bully boyz have been threatening members of the National Police Service, National Police Reservists, and the local administrators, locals confirmed. Equally, locals have made reports that they recently sighted five Al-Shabaab bully boyz who were armed with AK47 rifles within Sabuli Trading Center.

This comes at a time when a memo was sent to all senior officers within Wajir County to be vigilant as Al-Shabaab might attack an area known as Habaswein. The bully boyz have been carrying sporadic attacks within Kenya as they face pressure from Somalia due to ongoing operations.

The memo sent to administrators in the area asked the officers to ensure that they conduct patrols within the area where the bully boyz are believed to be planning to make attacks. Officers were also asked to always escort Public Service Vehicles and activate the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki recently announced that Kenya will be deploying elite Special Forces along the border with Somalia, particularly in Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Lamu counties. The al-Shabaab have lost significant territories in recent weeks according to authorities in Somalia.

-controlled areas in Bay region, south of the country.

The local residents in Dinsor town said they heard several explosions early in the morning during the mortar bombardment. The shelling came after al-Shabaab attempted an attack.

The terrified villagers came out of their houses in fear of an al-Shabaab counter-attack. There was no immediate confirmation of the morning mortar shelling by the Æthiopians.

The areas located on the outskirts of Dinsor are held by al-Shabaab, and the group used the rural villages to impose a blockade on the town which houses Æthiopian and SNA forces.

Al-Shabaab bandidos murderous Moslems attacked convoys carrying Æthiopian soldiers in Somalia’s southwestern Bakool region in mid this month, Somali officials said. The attack left several soldiers dead.

Al-Shabaab in a statement claimed it killed 167 Æthiopian soldiers, destroyed military vehicles, and seized a cache of weapons and ammunition. Casualty figures given by both sides have not been independently verified.

Burkina Faso: Partisans demonstrate in support to junta one year post coup
[AFRICANEWS] One year after the coup that brought Captain Ibrahim Traore to power in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who's just doing a bang-up job of running things...
, people rallied in the streets of Ouagadougou, to show their support to the military leader.

When he seized power, Captain Traore set himself two to three months to improve security and regain control of the jihadist attack plagued west African nation.

"In this 1 year we've really seen a lot of change. There's been a lot of change. There have been fewer attacks, fewer displaced people, and he's taking a step that really goes to my heart. Opening factories for young people and Burkinabé, it's really incredible," rejoiced Aïcha Ouedraogo, demonstrator.

"One year on, a very satisfactory record, and no Burkinabè can say otherwise, because foremost we can see what the captain has already done, and put a lot of villages back in place. That's already an achievement for us, and we're proud of him, and we trust him, and we know we're going to win this war against the evildoers" added demonstrator Maxime Zongo.

Since taking power, the new regime has focused on a strong security response to the attacks by groups affiliated to al-Qaeda and Islamic State

It has undertaken a massive recruitment drive for the Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland, a civilian volunteer force that supports the military.

It has also acquired drones and helicopters, sought to neutralise the jihadists and seen Traore out and about in the field, motivating the troops.

"We have hope for the future. We do not mean for ourselves, we are fighting for our children and our great-grandchildren. We are already here, already done, so it's for the next generation, that's it" defended Ange Geoffroy Kabore.

Under Traore, relations with La Belle France broke down, prompting the French forces to quit the country in February.

Bahrain says fourth soldier dies after Yemen Houthi rebel attack Bahrain
[AlAhram] A fourth Bahraini soldier has died after an attack this week on his country's contingent in the Saudi-led coalition battling Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebels, the Gulf archipelago's army said.

Bahrain had previously announced the deaths of three of its soldiers in Monday's attack near the Saudi border with Yemen. It accused the Houthis of carrying out the dronezap that killed them.

First Lieutenant Hamad Khalifa al-Kubaisi had on Friday "succumbed to serious injuries as a result of the treacherous Houthi attack", the Bahraini army said.

He had been maimed while "performing his national duty", it said in a statement posted on social media.

This is the most significant Bahraini troop loss in the Yemen conflict since five soldiers were killed in 2015.

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. have condemned the attack.

Bahrain and the United States were among the countries that blamed the attack on the Houthi rebels, who have yet to make any comment on the matter.

Monday's dronezap was reported only hours after a statement by the Houthis decried "Saudi bombings" which they said maimed four people in their stronghold of Saada, near Yemen's northern border with Saudi Arabia.

Bahrain has taken part in the military intervention spearheaded by Saudi Arabia since 2015 in support of the Yemeni government against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

A Houthi delegation held five days of talks in Saudi Arabia this month aimed at consolidating a UN-brokered ceasefire, which has largely held despite officially expiring in October.

German police arrest 5 Syrians linked to smuggling of Syrian migrants
[NPASyria] German police found on Tuesday more than 100 Syrian migrants colonists and arrested five others while raiding several locations in the country in connection with the suspected smuggling of migrants colonists.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported the federal police said more than 350 coppers searched apartments and other buildings and executed five arrest warrants, three in the northern town of Stade and two in the western town of Gladbeck.

They arrested five Syrian asylum-seekers already living in Germany. They had been paid around $7,400 to smuggle Syrian migrants colonists. The police also seized cell phones, sim cards, 220,000 euros worth of gold and 16,000 euros in cash.
We already knew people smuggling to the West is highly lucrative.
"The investigations in this case ... show how criminal networks take advantage of the personal circumstances and (the migrants colonists’) high motivation to flee to maximize their own profits," according to a statement by federal police at Frankfurt airport.

Roughly one million Syrian asylum-seekers and refugees live in the EU. Germany alone hosts around 59% of them. Across Europe, Syrians have usually been provided with international protection status. However,

Dhangri attack case: NIA raids houses of LeT OGWs in Poonch
[GreaterKashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
] National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted raids at the houses of Overground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e- Taiba (LeT) of Mendhar Poonch in connection with civilian killings in Dhangri village of Rajouri district.

An NIA spokesperson in a statement said: "Raids were conducted today at five locations across Gursai village of Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch district. NIA teams made extensive searches at the locations, which were the residential premises of Overground Workers (OGWs) linked with LeT, a proscribed terrorist outfit."

NIA team has seized several digital devices and documents containing incriminating data and content which are being scrutinised for unravelling the conspiracy.

NIA spokesperson said that raids were conducted following the disclosure of two accused, Nisar Ahmed @Haji Nisar and Mushtaq Hussain arrested by the NIA in the case (RC-01/2023/NIA/JMU) on 31st August 2023 who are currently lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

"NIA investigations have revealed that both the arrested accused had harboured the bully boyz who had carried out the deadly attack. They had provided logistics support to the bully boyz for more than two months and had sheltered them in a hideout that they had built. The duo, as per the investigations, had been operating on the directions of Pakistain-based LeT handlers, namely Saifullah @ Sajid Jutt, Abu Qatal @ Qatal Sindhi and Mohd. Qasim," it reads.

The attack case was initially registered as FIR no. 01/2023 at PS Rajouri under sections 302/ 307 /120-B/452/323 of IPC; sections 13/16/18 of UA (P) Act 1967, and sections 7/27 of Arms Act. NIA, which had taken over and re-registered the case on 13th January, is carrying out further investigations.

They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
, police said today.

"Based on an intelligence input provided by Kupwara Police,in a joint operation carried by Army and Police in kumkadi area of Machal sector,2 infiltrating bully boyz have been killed so far. The operation is still in progress," said a front man on X.

‘You won’t divide us’: Protesters against overhaul rally for a 39th weekend
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrators in Tel Aviv block Ayalon freeway with sukkah after week that saw festivities between religious and secular Jews on Yom Kippur

Tens of thousands of Israelis rallied nationwide on Saturday night against the government’s judicial overhaul for the 39th week, after Yom Kippur saw the country’s religious-secular divide bitterly exposed at a public prayer service in Tel Aviv.

Demonstrations were held across approximately 150 locations throughout the country, organizers said.

Protesters in Tel Aviv blocked off the Ayalon freeway by putting up a sukkah plastered with anti-government posters in honor of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which began Friday night. They were eventually forced out by police and traffic resumed.

Police arrested two protesters who blocked the freeway and issued fines of NIS 1,000 ($260) to seven others, Hebrew media outlets reported.

Channel 13, citing the CrowdSolutions firm, estimated that some 85,000 rallied in Tel Aviv’s Kaplan Street.
Only 85,000 instead of 200,000? Not impressive — did the Progressive tech billionaires decide not to donate after all? Y’all haven’t actually stopped anything after almost a year of weekly outings, nor driven Bini Netanyahu and the Israeli Right out of government and the public sphere.
At the center of the crowd, a large sign declared, "You won’t divide us!" in an apparent reference to Yom Kippur’s divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
events.

Organizers had said that this week’s protests would highlight what they called the fractious and destructive nature of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rule.

Eritrean man stabbed to death in Netanya, in latest brawl between migrants
[IsraelTimes] Violence between supporters and opponents of regime has been on the rise; deadly incident follows overnight festivities in Tel Aviv

An Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
n man was stabbed to death in Netanya on Saturday during a brawl that left eight other Eritreans injured.

One of the injured, a man in his 30s, was at death's door, and the rest of the casualties were in light-to-moderate condition.

Footage of the scene on Herzl Street in Netanya showed chairs being thrown and police breaking up the fight by firing in the air.

Police suspect that the man who was murdered opposed the regime in Eritrea and was stabbed by the government’s supporters.

Police said they arrested ten people who had armed themselves with clubs and stones and were planning to target other members of the community.

On Friday night, a brawl between Eritreans in south Tel Aviv sent two people to the hospital at death's door. Earlier in the week, another Eritrean asylum seeker was stabbed to death under similar circumstances.

Last month, a massive brawl broke out outside the Eritrean embassy in Tel Aviv between supporters and opponents of the regime, leaving nearly 200 people injured.

Since the August brawl, violence between Eritreans in Israel has been on the rise. Members of the community have been warning of public calls to attack opponents of the regime that have appeared on social media.

Hundreds of thousands of people have fled Eritrea over the years, with large numbers setting off into the deserts of Sudan

and then North Africa. Many seek to reach safety in Europe.

According to June statistics, there are 17,850 Eritrean migrants colonists in Israel.

President Isaias Afwerki, 77, has led Eritrea since it won independence from Æthiopia in a long guerrilla war. There are no elections, no free press, and exit visas are required. Many young people are forced into military service with no end date, human rights

SDF announces capturing senior ISIS leader in Syria’s Raqqa
[NPASyria] The Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Friday their forces, in cooperation with the US-led Global Coalition, managed to capture a big shot of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (ISIS) in Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria.

This came during a security operation launched on Sep. 28 by the YAT and the Coalition. The operation resulted in the capture of "one of the key controllers of ISIS cells, known as Mamdouh Ibrahim al-Hajji, aka Abu Youssef, who was actively involved in enabling ISIS terrorist cells in the region," the SDF said in a statement.

Abu Youssef was hiding in the west of the city of Raqqa when he was captured.

"This cooperation between our SDF forces and the international coalition against ISIS cells improves safety in NE Syria and proves beneficial to its people," the SDF added.

Early in September, the YAT, the Coalition, and the Sulaymaniyah-based Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) launched an operation in Raqqa which resulted in the arrest of a senior ISIS leader called Abdulghafour Taber al-Diyab, aka Abu Amir, who worked as the head (emir) of the so-called Tribes Divan and the manager of ISIS bank.

IDF reportedly strikes Iranian weapons shipment near Damascus
[IsraelTimes] State media doesn’t confirm reports from opposition media outlets, which claim shipments were en route to Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
; there are no immediate reports of collateral damage or casualties

The IDF reportedly carried out Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s near Damascus after midnight on Sunday, targeting an Iranian weapons shipment that appeared to be making its way to Lebanon.

The airstrikes were reported by news sites affiliated with the Syrian opposition and were not confirmed by Syrian state media.

The strikes targeting sites belonging to the Syrian army and pro-Iranian militia groups took place in al-Dimas, just west of Damascus, the reports said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, and it was not clear the extent of the damage caused by the alleged Israeli strikes.

Footage posted on social media caught explosions heard throughout the area, but it was unclear whether they were caused by airstrikes hitting their targets or Syrian air defense projectiles.

As a rule, the IDF generally does not comment on specific strikes in Syria, though it has admitted to conducting hundreds of sorties against Iran-backed groups attempting to gain a foothold in the country, over the last decade.

Dozens arrested in Iran in demonstration commemorating ‘Bloody Friday’ anniversary
Iran’s Balochs protest.
[IsraelTimes] Protests take place for second straight day in memory of 104 people killed in 2022 rallies, which were sparked by death of Mahsa Amini and reported rape of girl by police officer

Iranian security forces made dozens of arrests Saturday as protesters in the southeast commemorated the killing of dozens of demonstrators in the region one year ago, human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
groups said.

At least 104 people were killed, according to the Norway-based Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
Human Rights NGO, in what is known as "Bloody Friday," when security forces fired on a protest in Zahedan, the main city of Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province, on September 30 last year.

The violence marked the single deadliest day of months-long protests that erupted in Iran last year.

The Zahedan protests were triggered by reports a teenage girl had been raped in jug by a police commander and took place in parallel to nationwide demonstrations sparked by the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd, after her arrest in Tehran for an alleged breach of the country’s dress code.

Activists have long complained that the ethnic Baluch population in Sistan-Balochistan, who adhere to Sunni Islam instead of the Shiite branch of the faith dominant in Iran, suffer from discrimination.

Security forces fired tear gas and live rounds for a second straight day to disperse protesters who turned out in Zahedan to mark the anniversary, the Baluch-focused rights group Haalvsh said.

Throughout Saturday, businesses in Zahedan and other towns observed a general strike, it said, adding that "dozens" of people had been arrested.

The group posted footage with the sound of gunfire clearly audible amid a heavy security presence in the city.

’INDISCRIMINATE VIOLENCE’
Security forces had already used live fire to disperse protesters on Friday, wounding at least 25 people, including children, according to the Baloch Activists Campaign group. There was no immediate word on any casualties in Saturday’s unrest.

Even as the protest movement dwindled elsewhere in Iran, residents of Zahedan have held regular Friday protests throughout the past 12 months.

The city’s Friday prayer leader, Molavi Abdolhamid, who has been outspoken in his support of the protests over the past year, issued a new call for justice over "Bloody Friday," telling the faithful to "know your rights."

Footage posted on social media on Friday showed chaotic scenes as hospitals filled up with injured, including children, while people on the streets sought to escape to safety amid the sound of heavy gunfire.

IHR said that the protests in Zahedan and other cities were again "brutally crushed" with authorities using "live ammunition, pellet bullets and tear gas against unarmed protesters."
