Gunmen kill 31 civilians in Niger
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] At least 31 civilians have died in attacks by gunmen on several villages in Niger. This was reported by ActuNiger, citing its own sources.

According to him, on August 15, as a result of attacks by armed persons, presumably terrorists, in several villages in the Tillaberi region, at least 31 civilians received incompatible injuries.

All the dead are said to be civilians.

As reported by IA Regnum , a military coup in Niger took place on July 26. The presidential guard blocked the country's president Mohammed Bazum with his wife and son in the residence and announced his overthrow.

At an extraordinary summit in Abuja on August 10, the Economic Community of West Africa decided to prepare for the deployment of a reserve force of the organization that could carry out an armed invasion of Niger in order to free the ousted president. In turn, the Nigerian military expressed their readiness to rebuff any foreign interference.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security on August 15 that the West is demanding a return to democracy in Niger by almost any means, while in 2014 he almost ignored the displacement of legitimate power in Ukraine.

Intervention plan for Niger to be finalized at ECOWAS meeting, media write

An emergency meeting of the Chiefs of Defense Staff of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) will be devoted, among other things, to finalizing the intervention plan for Niger, RFI radio station reports, citing sources.

“According to our information, the meeting will be mainly devoted to finalizing the plan for military intervention in Niger,” the radio station said in a statement.

At the same time, the military, who is in the ECOWAS reserve forces, said that the order to stop the deployment did not come.

The meeting will take place on August 17-18 in Ghana.

Earlier, IA Regnum reported that the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS), following the United States of America and France, supported the early start of military intervention in Niger.

According to the Al Jazeera TV channel, the leader of the rebels in Niger, General Abdurahman Tchiani, agreed to talks with ECOWAS. Prime Minister-designate Ali Mahaman Lamine Zein confirmed that Niger's new leadership was "optimistic" about starting talks with the ECOWAS group.

[IsraelTimes] Activists clash outside auditorium with security and university employees as pro-Israel speaker lectures inside; adviser to rector reportedly suffers broken nose

Pro-Paleostinian protesters injured a university employee while demonstrating against a lecture speaker who heads the Brazilian chapter of a pro-Israel advocacy group.

Andre Lajst, the director of StandWithUs Brazil, was speaking about ways that Israeli technologies could help develop the Amazon region at the Federal University of Amazonas in Manaus on Thursday when protesters clashed with security and other university employees outside the lecture auditorium.

According to news reports, the advisor to the university’s rector left the scene with a broken nose after attempting to safeguard her daughter. Several students entering the lecture were also harassed, and coppers escorted Lajst into and out of the venue. One protester was reportedly arrested for pushing a police officer but later released.

"The tight security was commensurate with the widespread slander and slurs about me and about Israel," Lajst later wrote in a social media post. "The extremism of a minority does not represent the university and the students."

Protesters called Lajst, a Brazilian-born Jew who served in the Israeli Air Force from 2011-2013, a "defender of Israel’s apartheid regime." The Arab-Paleostinian Federation of Brazil had written before the event that "the university cannot be a stage to defend an apartheid regime."

Lajst, a grandson of Polish Holocaust survivors, said the university’s Central Student Directory also called him a "Nazi" on their website. "There is no worse offense for me," he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s northern state of Amazonas with a population of over 2 million, is home to some 200 Jewish families. Brazil is home to a 120,000-strong Jewish community.

More than 60 Senegalese migrants feared dead on monthlong voyage to Spain
[AlAhram] More than 60 migrants colonists are feared dead after a Spanish fishing vessel rescued a boat off the Atlantic archipelago of Cape Verde that originally had more than 100 people aboard, authorities and migrant advocates said Thursday.

Seven bodies were found on the boat and an estimated 56 people are missing at sea and presumed dead, said International Organization for Migration spokesperson Safa Msehli.

According to Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
’s foreign affairs ministry, 38 people were rescued earlier in the week near Cape Verde, about 620 kilometers (385 miles) off the coast of West Africa.

The Spanish migration advocacy group Walking Borders said the vessel was a large fishing boat, called a pirogue, which had left Senegal on July 10.
“It’ll be easy, guys! We just need to sail north, then turn right through the Straits of Gibralter.”
Families in Fass Boye, a seaside town 145 kilometers (90 miles) north of the capital, Dakar, reached out to Walking Borders on July 20 after 10 days without hearing from loved ones on the boat, group founder Helena Maleno Garzón said.

Cheikh Awa Boye, president of the local fishing association, said survivors called home from Cape Verde after the rescue. Boye said two of his nephews are among those missing.

Spain’s Maritime Rescue Service confirmed that a Spanish fishing boat named the Zillarri rescued 38 people and recovered seven bodies from a Senegalese pirogue on Aug. 14 after spotting it adrift northeast of Cape Verde.

An official of the tropical tuna fishing company PEVASA, which operates the Zillarri, said the survivors were asking for help and were in a "bad state."

The route from West Africa to Spain is one of the world’s most dangerous, yet the number of migrants colonists leaving from Senegal on rickety wooden boats has surged over the past year. The boats try to reach Spain’s Canary Islands, an archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa that has been used as a steppingstone to continental Europe.
“Oh, wait — it’ll even easier if we pull in at the Canary Islands. We can’t miss ‘em — they’ll be the yellow ones.”
Nearly 1,000 migrants colonists died while trying to reach Spain by sea in the first six months of 2023, Walking Borders says. Worsening youth unemployment, political unrest, violence by gangs and climate change push migrants colonists across West Africa to risk their lives on overcrowded boats.

Nearly 10,000 people have reached the Canary Islands by sea from the northwest coast of Africa so far this year, according to Spanish Interior Ministry figures.

On Aug. 7, the Moroccan navy recovered the bodies of five Senegalese migrants colonists and rescued 189 others after their boat capsized off the coast of Western Sahara.

In 2021, an AP investigation found at least seven migrant boats from northwest Africa had become lost in the Atlantic and were found drifting across the Caribbean and even off Brazil, carrying only lifeless bodies.

Four charged in connection to English Channel migrant boat tragedy

French prosecutors have brought charges against four individuals for involuntary manslaughter following the harrowing incident involving a migrant boat that sank in the English Channel over the weekend, leaving at least six migrants colonists dead, according to a statement from a judicial source to AFP on Wednesday.

The suspects, comprising two Iraqi and two Sudanese nationals, were apprehended shortly after the vessel, carrying around 65 people, capsized in the early hours of Saturday. The tragic event resulted in the loss of six Afghan lives.

Additionally, the four accused are facing charges of criminal conspiracy in relation to illegal immigration. The Iraqi detainees are suspected of being associated with a human trafficking network as Sherlocks delve into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As confirmed by French authorities, most passengers on board were of Afghan origin, accompanied by a few Sudanese and minors. The swift response from British and French coastiess led to the successful rescue of 59 individuals. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the final count of casualties remains tentative.

Preliminary investigations have unveiled that an engine malfunction played a pivotal role in the boat's capsizing within the tumultuous waters of the busy maritime route. Disturbingly, many passengers were not equipped with life jackets at the time of the incident, as stated by the Gay Paree prosecutor's office.

The discovery of the shipwreck by a commercial vessel prompted an immediate alert to authorities, leading to the French coasties rescuing 38 people and their British counterparts, saving 23 more lives.

This tragedy marks the highest corpse count since November 2021, when 27 migrants colonists perished in the Channel. The incident strained relations between Britannia and La Belle France, prompting discussions about shared responsibilities in preventing such calamities.

In response, French authorities have intensified patrols and deterrent measures, bolstered by a financial commitment from London. In March, an agreement was reached for substantial annual funding from Britannia to La Belle France to support these efforts.

Official figures released last Friday revealed that over 100,000 migrants colonists have undertaken perilous journeys across the Channel in small boats from La Belle France to southeastern England since records began in 2018.

CDN Cartel Weapons, Ammo Found on Texas Bank of Border River Included Armor-Piercing Rounds
Wonder how many 'get aways' had ammo?
[Breitbart] Texas Game Wardens and Department of Public Safety troopers arrested two suspected members of the Cartel Del Noreste and seized rifles and ammunition near Fronton. The ammunition included armor-piercing rifle rounds.

The discovery came on August 8 when DPS camera monitors observed two people on an island on the Rio Grande near Fronton. According to a DPS report obtained by Breitbart Texas, one of the men appeared to be wearing tactical gear and was carrying a rifle. Investigators reported this as the same area where armed men wearing tactical gear had been spotted the week before.

Texas DPS Special Operations Group (SOG) agents and Parks and Wildlife Rescue Operations Group (ROG) game wardens responded to the location of the border crossing area. Border Patrol BORTAC agents and a National Guard Blackhawk aircrew joined in the search, Breitbart Texas reported. The search of the area led to the discovery of three people who had illegally crossed the border.

Law enforcement teams took two border crossers into custody while the third absconded to Mexico. The men were found to be wearing tactical gear, including a “tactical chest rig containing six magazines.” Officials report the magazines were loaded with .556 green-tip armor-piercing rounds.

The search did not uncover the location of the rifle observed being carried in the initial video. At the time of this incident, officials reported that Mexican military units were involved in a gun battle upriver of this location.

Border Patrol agents took custody of the two Mexican nationals.

The following day, the SOG and ROG teams returned to the area to follow up on intelligence information gathered from the interview of the two Mexican nationals. Border Patrol agents joined the teams. The teams began a search for the two rifles believed to be hidden in the area.

During a search of the river bank Texas Parks and Wildlife K9 Izzy alerted to the possible presence of an article she is trained to detect. The ROG agent made contact with an object in the river with his boot. The object turned out to be an AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine inserted. No round was loaded in the chamber.

As the search continued, the teams found an M4 rifle. The rifle was loaded with a round chambered, officials reported. The teams also found a cell phone in the area. All items were removed and taken as evidence.

DPS confirmed the reports obtained by Breitbart Texas.

“In a multi-agency effort, DPS Texas Rangers Special Operations Group, Texas Game Wardens, and U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended two Mexican nationals with suspected ties to a transnational criminal organization,” DPS spokesman, Lieutenant Chris Olivarez told Breitbart Texas. “The men were in possession of two rifles and armor-piercing ammo.”

“There is no greater public safety and national security threat than the Mexican drug gartels, who have exploited the security vulnerabilities due to an unsecured international border,” Olivarez explained. “This effort highlights the importance of collaborating with local, county, state, and federal agencies for one common goal — keeping our state and country safe.”

India-Pakistan
ISIS Module Case: NIA Searches House Of Accused Shamil Nachan In Maharashtra, Gets 'Incriminating Material'
[OneIndia] The NIA on Thursday searched the house of Shamil Saquib Nachan, arrested last week in the Pune ISIS module case, near here and recovered "incriminating material" that reveals the terror organization's "conspiracy to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the country", officials said.

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials searched Nachan's residence at Padgha in Thane district, the agency said in a statement.

Nachan, a member of ISIS's sleeper cell, was arrested by the NIA on August 11 from his house in Padgha. He was found involved in the fabrication and testing of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and participating in IED assembly and training workshops for commission of terrorist acts, it said.

Nachan was the sixth person to be arrested in the Pune-based ISIS module case, it said.

The NIA officials searched Nachan's residence and recovered several mobile phones, hard disks and some hand-written documents that are being examined and analysed, the central probe agency added.

"A host of incriminating material exposing the terrorist organization's conspiracy to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the country was seized," it said.

Nachan had been working with the other accused persons arrested in the case - Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Mohammed Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi and Abdul Kadir Pathan - along with some other suspects, as part of a bigger conspiracy to trigger violence across various parts of the country by fabricating and exploding the IEDs, it added.

Khan and Saki were nabbed by the police in Kothrud area of Pune city last month while stealing a cycle of violence, but another suspect Shahnawaz Alam managed to escape.

Investigation revealed that the duo was wanted by the NIA in a March 2022 Rajasthan terror plot case, and they were the alleged members of the al-Sufa outfit who beat feet from Ratlam after NIA made some arrests in the case.

The NIA said in its statement that investigation in the Pune ISIS module case revealed that Nachan and other members of an ISIS sleeper cell had assembled IEDs at a house in Kondhwa in Pune, where they had also organised and participated in a bomb (IED) assembly and training workshop last year.

They had even carried out a controlled explosion at this location to test an IED fabricated by them, it added.

The conspiracy was aimed at committing terrorist acts with the aim to disturb the peace and communal harmony of the country, the agency said.

The accused had plans to wage a war against the Government of India in furtherance of the ISIS agenda to spread terror and violence.

Iraq
Kirkuk: Iraqi warplanes eliminate four ISIS operatives, Blast Hits Iraqi Military Patrol, 3 Maimed

Iraqi warplanes eliminate four ISIS operatives in Kirkuk

[Shafaq News] The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced on Thursday that a precision Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
conducted by Iraqi warplanes had successfully targeted ISIS sites within Kirkuk governorate, eliminating four terrorists.

In an official statement, the Command disclosed that the air raid had inflicted substantial damage upon an ISIS guesthouse, obliterating command centers and underground installations. Additionally, a pickup truck was engulfed in flames due to the operation.

The statement highlighted the discovery of the remains of two terrorists, with one individual found to be rigged with explosive booby traps. Furthermore, fragments of two other Lions of Islam were successfully recovered. The impact of the operation triggered the detonation of four bombs.

During the subsequent search, Iraqi security forces uncovered handwritten correspondence among the terrorists. Additionally, civilian and military equipment, furniture, essential supplies, provisions, water storage tanks, pumps, and a destroyed RPG7 launcher were retrieved.

From 2014 to 2017, Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Iraq, served as a stronghold for ISIS, which captured the city in June 2014 and declared it the capital of its self-proclaimed caliphate. During its occupation, the group carried out a series of brutal atrocities, including mass executions, beheadings, and acts of sexual slavery.

The Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) liberated Kirkuk from ISIS control in October 2017. Collaborating with Kurdish Peshmerga forces, the ISF has since maintained a presence in the city to prevent any resurgence of ISIS. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
concerns persist regarding the group's efforts to rebuild its forces.

Kirkuk's current state of affairs remains fragile due to the city's ethnically diverse composition. Tensions persist between various ethnic groups, including Kurds, Arabs, and Turkmen.

Blast Hits Iraqi Military Patrol in Kirkuk: A security source revealed on Thursday that an improvised explosive device detonated, targeting a military vehicle in the Daquq district, south of Kirkuk. The incident caused injuries to three army personnel, according to initial reports.
#Iraq #Security

On Thursday, a security source informed Shafaq News Agency that an improvised bomb detonated, targeting a military vehicle in the Daquq district, south of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
resulting in the initial toll of three army personnel being maimed.

Daquq is a town in the Kirkuk Governorate of Iraq. It is located about 60 kilometers south of Kirkuk city. The town has a population of about 40,000 people. Daquq is a strategically important town, as it is located on the road between Kirkuk and Baghdad.

The Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) liberated Daquq from ISIS in 2017. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
there is still a risk of ISIS sleeper cells operating in the region.

Settlers filmed setting fire to field belonging to Palestinians in northern West Bank
This needs to stop. As Hillel said, “Do not do unto others as you would not have done unto you.”
[IsraelTimes] Footage released by the Yesh Din rights group appears to show masked settlers who descended from the flashpoint settlement of Yitzhar setting fire to a field belonging to Paleostinian farmers from the nearby village of Burqa for the second time in days.

The incident takes place near the Paleostinian land encroached by settlers earlier this month in what sparked a clash during which an Israeli rubbed out a 19-year-old Paleostinian.

Palestinian gunman killed by Israeli forces during raid in Jenin
[IsraelTimes] Media reports identify Mustafa al-Kastouni, 32, as member of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades; no immediate comment from IDF.

A Paleostinian gunman was killed and two others, members of a terror cell, were arrested by Israeli forces in the northern West Bank city of Jenin on Thursday morning, the military said.

In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces, Border Police, and Shin Bet security agency said troops entered Jenin to arrest members of a terror cell planning attacks.

Undercover Border Police officers arrested two wanted Paleostinians outside a building in Jenin, following intelligence given to them by the Shin Bet of their whereabouts.

A gunman, named as 32-year-old Mustafa al-Kastouni, opened fire from inside the building at the Israeli forces, defense officials said. The Border Police troops broke into the building, and amid an exchange of fire, al-Kastouni was killed, and one Israeli officer was lightly hurt by shrapnel.

The Paleostinian Authority health ministry said al-Kastouni was fatally shot in the head, chest, and abdomen by Israeli soldiers. He was identified by Paleostinian media outlets as a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group.

The Shin Bet said al-Kastouni had been previously involved in gunfire toward Israeli forces in the West Bank.

The IDF said forces found a weapon and dozens of primed bombs inside the building. The bombs were destroyed, leading to claims by Paleostinian media that Israeli forces "blew up a bakery" in Jenin.

As the Israeli forces left the northern West Bank city, Paleostinian button men opened fire and hurled explosives, the IDF said. Troops returned fire, hitting several gunnies, the military said.

The IDF last operated in Jenin on July 31, four weeks after a major operation in the northern West Bank city.

The IDF said that troops detained ten more wanted Paleostinians during sweeps across the West Bank early Thursday, with violence in some areas.

Also early Thursday, an IDF officer was lightly hurt after coming under fire during a patrol near the northern West Bank village of Burqa, the military said.

Paleostinian terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank have left 26 people dead and several others seriously maimed since the beginning of the year.

According to a tally by The Times of Israel, 172 West Bank Paleostinians have also been killed during the same period — most of them during festivities with security forces or while carrying out attacks, but some were uninvolved civilians and others were killed under unclear circumstances, including by armed Israeli settlers.

SDF kills ISIS leader in Syria’s Raqqa
[NPASyria] The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Thursday killing an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) leader in a raid conducted on his residence in Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria.

The SDF Media Center said in a statement that SDF Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT), supported by the US-led Global Coalition and with the participation of forces of Sulaymaniyah-headquartered Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, conducted "a security operation in the heart of Raqqa City."

The statement said the operation targeted "the terrorist Ibrahim al-Ali aka Abu Mujahid, the ISIS official of the Eastern region" after raiding the building in which he was hiding.

According to the statement, the ISIS leader refused to surrender and began clashing with the SDF fighters, resulting in his killing.
That makes it easier for all involved, to be sure.
The forces confiscated several weapons and military equipment during the operation.

The SDF concluded that their forces, partnered with the Global Coalition, are committed to continuing their pursuit of ISIS leaders across different areas of northeast Syria.

ISIS lost its final stronghold in Syria in March 2019. The SDF, with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, defeated ISIS after fierce battles in the town of Baghuz in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, bringing an end to the so-called caliphate declared by the terrorist ISIS.

After Baghouz, thousands of ISIS forces of Evil were transferred to prisons, while their families were transferred to Hawl and Roj camps in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas.

Government-affiliated groups clash over smuggling routes in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] Clashes erupted on Wednesday between National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Fourth Division, both affiliated with the Syrian government forces, over smuggling routes in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, leading to injuries from both sides.

A military source in the NDF told North Press that festivities with machine guns erupted between members of the NDF and a military post of the Fourth Division stationed on the bank of the Euphrates River near a route for smuggling.

The festivities started after members of the Fourth Division confiscated amounts of smuggled fuel and goods coming from the areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in the east of the Euphrates River that belonged to an NDF leader, the source added.

The incident resulted in the injury of two members of the NDF and another of the Fourth Division. The matter was settled after the intervention of patrols of the Military Security and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) where the confiscated materials were returned, according to the source.

The Syrian Desert always witnesses security chaos and instability due to ongoing festivities between the gangs of the government forces, the Iranian-backed militias, and ISIS sleeper cells.

Government forces shelling of NW Syria causes casualties
[NPASyria] Syrian government forces targeted, on Thursday, areas in the countryside of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, with artillery and rocket attacks, injuring two people.

"The government forces stationed in the city of Saraqib, southeast of Idlib, targeted, with heavy artillery shells, the village of Majdaliya and the town of Sarmin in the eastern countryside of Idlib, which resulted in the injury of two people, including a woman", an exclusive military source told North Press.

Front) targeted posts of the government forces in Regiment 46 and the towns of Urum al-Kubrah and Urum al-Sughra, west of Aleppo, in addition to Saraqib countryside, according to the source.

On Wednesday , two individuals were maimed as a result of artillery and missile shelling by the government forces targeting areas in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo.

Simultaneously, violent mostly peaceful festivities and mutual shelling between Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), and the government forces, took place in north of Aleppo.

Opposition military sources told North Press that the village of Kimar, south of Afrin, northwest Syria, witnessed on Wednesday at night violent mostly peaceful festivities with heavy weapons between the government forces and the SNA factions.

The festivities resulted in the injury of a Death Eater from Hamza Division, affiliated with the SNA, and the killing of two soldiers from the government forces. The area witnessed mutual artillery shelling between the two parties for more than two hours, according to the sources.

Additionally, the city of Tadef, east of Aleppo, also witnessed violent mostly peaceful festivities last night between the government forces and the SNA factions.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

HTS imposes house arrest on prominent leader in Syria’s Idlib
[NPASyria] Leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS — formerly al-Nusra

Front), Abu Muhammad al-Julani, imposed on Thursday a house arrest on Abu Maria al-Qahtani, head of the HTS’s General Security Apparatus.

An exclusive source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed North Press that a plan was in place to arrest al-Qahtani for a week. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
some leaders close to al-Julani opposed the decision due to concerns that the arrest could trigger an armed conflict between al-Qahtani’s supporters, who are affiliated with tribes associated with the HTS, and al-Julani’s own supporters.

The source mentioned that the motivation behind al-Julani’s action was the confessions provided by numerous turbans and leaders who had been arrested earlier that al-Qahtani had intentions to overthrow al-Julani.

The source stated that al-Qahtani had been engaged in secret meetings with Fahim Issa, leader of Second Corps, Abu Amsha, the leader of Sultan Suleiman Shah Division (Amshat), and Saif Abu Bakr, leader of the Hamza Division in the cities of Afrin and Azaz, northwest Syria.

These revelations were based on confessions from leaders close to al-Qahtani, which heightened al-Julani’s suspicions towards him.

Furthermore, the HTS has been experiencing internal divisions for over two months, with one faction supporting al-Qahtani and another supporting al-Julani. These divisions became evident during a recent security campaign that targeted numerous leaders and turbans affiliated with the group, particularly within the security apparatus led by al-Qahtani.

The source acknowledged that there are individuals within the group who deny the reports of al-Qahtani’s arrest or his placement under house arrest, claiming that he is "at home due to illness." However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
several sources close to him have confirmed that he is indeed under house arrest, and this restrictive measure is expected to continue for two months until the HTS’s Shura Council reaches a final decision regarding his fate.

Government forces pursue ISIS in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] Syrian government forces launched a wide-scale security campaign in the Syrian Desert, central Syria, to pursue and combat Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) gunnies in the region, a military source from the government forces said on Thursday.

The source told North Press that the security campaign has been initiated in response to the targeting of the government forces’ posts by ISIS krazed killers. These gunnies exploit the unstable conditions in the region to undermine security and stability.

On August 11, 40 soldiers of the government forces were killed and 10 others were maimed in an attack launched by ISIS in Deir ez-Zor.

Other forces will participate alongside the government forces in the campaign. They will focus on conducting thorough searches and operations in the town of Sukhnah, east of Homs Governorate, central Syria, as well as in the villages of Kabajib and Shula, and the surrounding areas leading towards al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor. These areas pose a significant threat to the supply routes of the government forces deployed in the desert.

The source, citing security concerns, revealed that the security campaign will encompass the clearance of significant areas from the presence of ISIS krazed killers. The main objectives include targeting and destroying their command centers and weapon depots. Furthermore, the operation aims to retake control of strategic points in the desert, which were subjected to Russian naval bombardment.

The source emphasized that intelligence work plays a crucial role in the operation. Efforts will be focused on identifying sleeper cells and taking necessary actions to neutralize them. This proactive approach aims to prevent these cells from posing a future threat to both government forces and their supporting allies.

On August 13, Russian battleships docked in the Syrian coast targeted hideout of ISIS deep in the Syrian Desert.

The source emphasized that intelligence work plays a crucial role in the operation. Efforts will be focused on identifying sleeper cells and taking necessary actions to neutralize them. This proactive approach aims to prevent these cells from posing a future threat to both government forces and their supporting allies.

The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.
