Afghanistan
Shooting by Taliban Fighter Claims Lives of Family Members in Parwan; One Dead and Three Injured

Local sources in Parwan report that a former Taliban
...Arabic for students...
intelligence officer named Tamim, known as "Bache Rahim," who once served as the intelligence director of the Taliban in Jabal Saraj district, fired shots at four members of a family in the province.

On Friday, July 28, in the village of Meyan-Gozar, Jabal Saraj district, Parwan province, Bache Rahim allegedly opened fire on members of a family, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to three others.

According to the sources, the shooting led to the death of a young boy named Nooryalai, while three other boys from the same family were maimed and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The incident occurred after a verbal altercation between Bache Rahim and the family members, during which he resorted to gunfire.

It is worth noting that Bache Rahim has a history of violence in the region. On September 23, 2019, he was involved in the killing of his uncle’s wife and his four children using a hunting rifle in the village of Meyana-Guzar, Jabal Saraj district.

Following that incident, Bache Rahim expeditiously departed at a goodly pace and joined the ranks of the Taliban.

According to the claims made by the sources, one year after the mentioned event, Bache Rahim was involved in the killing of another uncle, Abdul Wali, known as "Sepahi."

Taliban Shooting Targets Shiites in Ghazni; Death Toll Reaches Four

Sources in Ghazni have reported that the corpse count resulting from Taliban
...Arabic for students...
gunfire on Shiite mourners in the province has reached four.

According to confirmed reports on Saturday, July 29, by Hasht-e Subh, the shooting by Taliban forces in the Naw-Abad area of Ghazni city resulted in three fatalities, including a 12-year-old child, and left at least ten others injured.

Sources indicate that these individuals were killed and maimed as a direct result of the Taliban’s shooting.

Local Taliban officials in Ghazni have not yet commented on this incident.

During this year’s Ashura ceremony, the Taliban imposed significant restrictions on Shiites. Additionally, they disrupted telecommunications networks in Kabul, Balkh, and Ghazni.

It is worth noting that Taliban members have also opened fire on Shiite mourners at Dasht-e Barchi in Kabul. As of now, there is no information available about the casualties from the shooting incident in Kabul.

Taliban Blood Feud: Fighter Shoots Own Brother Over Debts in Parwan Province

According to local sources in Parwan, a Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighter has committed fratricide in the province.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, July 26th, in the village of Khalazaie, situated in the heart of the province.

The victim, identified as Zandi, lost his life after confronting his brother to demand repayment of a debt.

An eyewitness, who prefers to remain anonymous, recounted the event to Hasht-e Subh: "The situation unfolded when Zandi confronted his brother, who owed him money, demanding that he repay the debt. Enraged by the confrontation, the brother, who was in possession of a gun, tragically shot and killed Zandi."

The accused, currently serving as a Taliban fighter at the Baghram Airfield camp, managed to flee the area after the crime.

The source further revealed that Zandi had no children, and his brother allegedly committed the murder to take control of his inheritance.

As of now, local Taliban officials in Parwan have not released any statements regarding this distressing incident.

It is noteworthy that criminal incidents have been on the rise in Parwan in recent days.

Experts attribute the surge in such events to the rampant poverty and unemployment prevalent in the region.

Daily Evacuation Brief July 30, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • FOREIGNER KIDNAPPINGS, RUMORS CIRCULATE – Last week, we reported on the possible abduction of 2 foreigners that supposedly took place in Kabul. Additional information has begun to circulate which suggests the 2 foreigners may have been diplomats from Qatar who were waylaid while driving from Kabul to Paghman by unknown assailants. The information has not been verified by any official sources (Taliban or Qatari) but continues to make the rounds on social media. In addition, we have had no information regarding the original report about the abductions. Both accounts may very well prove to be false and we will continue to follow the situation if it develops.

  • ISIS-K MAKES RARE PUBLIC OVERTURE TO RESISTANCE GROUPS – Al-Azaim Media, an ISIS-linked media affiliate released a pamphlet on its website that appeals directly to Resistance groups operating in Afghanistan. In the pamphlet, ISIS makes an argument for cooperating together in the near term in order to bring the Taliban regime down. Long-time Afghanistan observers say this may be the first public call for cooperation that ISIS-K has made to the Resistance groups.

  • SOME CALLS TO PROVIDE INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT TO RESISTANCE GROUPS – While the NRF and other Resistance groups have received support from small groups in Europe, North America, and elsewhere some larger-mainstream organizations are beginning to look at ways of providing support. The intransigence of the Taliban to fulfill agreements under the Doha deal and the ever-increasing restrictions on women and minorities appear to have stiffened some backs in some NGO boardrooms. The US and Europe have dug their heels in and said repeatedly that they will not support any armed insurgents in Afghanistan and Russia/China have likewise maintained a similar stance. However, as the situation drags on, the Resistance groups may end up being the only option available. It is almost unthinkable that at least theoretical discussions along these lines have not been taking place in Washington, Paris, London, Moscow, Ottawa, et al.

  • COUPLE REPORTEDLY SENTENCED TO DEATH BY STONING IN BAGHLAN MAY HAVE RECEIVED A REPRIEVE – Information about a couple in Pol Khomri (Baghlan Province) who had reportedly received a sentence calling for their deaths by stoning have had their executions postponed. The initial execution was reputedly set for Friday (after prayers) but has now been postponed. A source in Kabul who could not confirm if the executions had actually been ordered did say that orders had been issued from senior Taliban leadership to minimize any potentially embarrassing incidents while the Foreign Minister was meeting with the US officials in Doha. Some online social media accounts thanked US leaders and UN officials for personally intervening in the affair. We have yet to confirm the accuracy of the information and it is not clear if the death sentences were vacated or, merely postponed.

Africa Horn
Attack On Kenya Defence Forces Outpost Confirms Al-Shabaab Drone Use

Kenyan security forces have increased their operations along the country’s 680-kilometer border with Somalia in response to recent attacks by al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
Al-Shabaab, which has suffered repeated defeats by the Somali National Army (SNA), has launched attacks against targets in Æthiopia, Kenya and Uganda in retribution for those countries participating in ATMIS, the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia.

During one recent attack against a Kenya Defence Forces military outpost in Sirari, security forces killed a suspected jacket wallah and brought down a drone that al-Shabaab fighters were using to gather intelligence ahead of the attack.

The incident at Sirari confirmed that the turbans have begun incorporating off-the-shelf unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, into their operations.

"This raises concerns that al-Shabaab may expand its drone usage for broader surveillance and reconnaissance purposes," researcher Ana Aguilera wrote recently for the Global Network on Extremism & Technology.

That expansion could involve gathering strategic information on potential targets, assessing enemy forces’ strength, identifying infrastructure, and pinpointing vulnerable sites, Aguilera added.

So far, al-Shabaab has been unable to militarize their drones by adding explosives or other weaponry as Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
has done in the Lake Chad Basin. That’s largely because the group is using commercially available drones that tend to be too small to deliver payloads.

Large, military-grade drones are expensive and typically sold only to state actors. Any that were stolen or captured would be easily traced should they fall into al-Shabaab’s hands, Aguilera wrote.

Drones have become a vital tool valued by security forces and terrorist groups alike in recent years. Militaries across Africa have invested in a mix of drone technology from across the globe. In many cases, the lightweight, commercially available drones favored by al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups come from China.

"The use of UAVs [drones] represents a new iteration of digital technology," analyst Karen Allen wrote recently for the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS).

Drones can provide users with over-the-horizon intelligence. Those with infrared technology can see in the dark, letting them operate at night. In general, drones’ small profile makes them hard to see and difficult to shoot down.

As al-Shabaab continues to use drones for observation and intelligence-gathering, it could be only a matter of time before the group finds a way to weaponize them, according to researcher Håvard Haugstvedt of the University of Stavanger in Norway.

In an article published in the Journal of Strategic Security, Haugstvedt notes that the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and al-Qaeda have each developed weaponized drones for use in Middle East conflicts. Both groups are active in Africa, raising the concern that they might shift that technology to the continent.

"As UAVs are commercially available all over the world, groups with bomb-making experience and technical know-how in general may themselves develop local variations and adaptions of what bad boy groups have done in the Middle East over the last decade," Haugstvedt wrote.

Somalia: Over 14 military officers arrested following base attack
[Garowe] At least 14 members of the Somali National Army [SNA] officers have been arrested in connection to the recent al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
attack at a military training base within Somalia's capital Mogadishu last week, a bigwig said, in what could raise questions about possible infiltration of bandidos murderous Moslems in government.

Abdifatah Kasim, Somalia's deputy defense minister, told Lower House members that the arrests were made following preliminary investigations, and the officers in jug are expected to be grilled in connection with the attack, which left at least 25 trainees dead.

The minister had been summoned by Members of Parliament who inquired about the attack along with reforms within the military and various defense agreements with external controllers and nations. Somalia is seeking to stabilize after years of civil war and the al-Shabaab menace.

"Deputy Defense Minister Abdifatah Kasim announced the arrest of 14 officers, including the Commander of Jaalle Siyad College, in connection with the recent explosion at Jaalle Siyaad Military College," the minister told news hounds in Mogadishu.

"During the Ministry’s appearance before the House of People of Federal Parliament, led by Defense Minister Mohammed Nur, Kasim stated that anyone involved will face justice. MPs inquired about ongoing operations against terrorists, army reforms, and military agreements."

This was the worst attack targeting military officers in two months, just days after the faceless myrmidons also raided an Uganda People's Defense Forces [UPDF] base in Bulo Marer, killing over 54 soldiers instantly. Monday's attack was activated by a jacket wallah, outside Jaalle Siyaad Military Academy popularly known as the 14th October army training center.

According to the reports, the bomber managed to sneak into the premises probably with assistance from the insiders, leading to the tragic attack. The government has promised to bring to book those who may have participated directly in the attack, including the officers who are believed to have colluded with the holy warriors.

Cases of al-Shabaab collusion with government officers and security teams in Somalia are not unique given that in the past, a number of officials have been found criminally culpable of sharing intelligence briefs with the terrorists. al-Shabaab grabbed credit for the attack.

Why the hell does the US still keep taxing us, running up the national debt to spend $$$ Billions over there and sticking our nose into basically tribal issues on a national scale?

Somalia army ambushes Al-Shabaab militants, destroys bases
[Garowe] The Somali National Army [SNA] with the help of international partners made tremendous milestones on Friday, the Ministry of Defence reported, following a successful operation that targeted al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
bandidos Death Eaters in Middle Shabelle and Galgadud areas, where the bandidos Death Eaters were hoped up.

State media reports that the army, with assistance from the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS], managed to ambush a convoy of seven al-Shabaab vehicles, in what could have left hundreds of the bandidos Death Eaters dead. This was a clear-up operation in the area.

The ambush, state media reports, destroyed 2 BGs, a UD, and four pickup trucks which were being used by the bandidos Death Eaters to relocate to unknown destinations. The nearby base being used by the bandidos Death Eaters was destroyed instantly after bombing by security forces.

"A convoy of seven vehicles carrying al-Shabaab terrorists, including 2 BGs, 1 UD, and 4 pickup trucks known for Abdibile, was attacked and destroyed. Their base was also bombed. There are many casualties among the group," state media clarified just after the major achievement.

"This follows a major operation launched by the Somali National Army against the bandidos Death Eaters in Galgaduud on Friday morning," read the text from the government, which was approved by Defense Minister Abdikadir Mohammed Nur, who has been visiting the troops in the Frontline.

Mohammed Nur insisted that the government of Somalia will heighten campaigns against al-Shabaab bandidos Death Eaters whom he accused of destabilization the country. The bandidos Death Eaters lost significant territories in the recently concluded first phase of operations against them by the national army and international partners.

The Ministry of Information announced that over 100 bandidos Death Eaters were killed in the ambush but the data could not be verified independently by Garowe Online. The al-Shabaab bandidos Death Eaters are yet to also comment on the tragedy, which could be worse in as many months, even as they lose most frontlines.

Early this week, the bandidos Death Eaters attacked a military training base in Mogadishu, killing 25 soldiers. The government of Somalia pledged a "quick response" to the tragedy, which was widely condemned by both local and national leaders, with international partners pledging vigilance in the operations.

Makhachkala resident fined for non-information
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court fined a resident of Makhachkala, M. Magomedov, 20,000 rubles, finding him guilty of not informing law enforcement that his friend was participating in hostilities in Syria on the side of IS.

According to investigators, a resident of Makhachkala, M. Magomedov, kept in touch with his acquaintance, a native of Dagestan, through social networks, knowing that she was taking part in the activities of an armed group in Syria, which is part of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia by a court, and didn't report it to the police.

"In connection with the full recognition of his guilt, M. Magomedov was sentenced by a court verdict in the form of a fine of 20,000 rubles," RIA "Dagestan" quoted on July 28 a message from the press service of the FSB department in the republic.

No comments were received from M. Magomedov or his representatives.

The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that on June 15 it became known that the Khasavyurt city court found a resident of Khasavyurt guilty of not reporting that his acquaintance was agitating to join a detachment for military operations in Ukraine against the Russian armed forces.

Europe
‘Man-Made' Climate Change: Majority of Greek Wildfires Result of Arson, Minister Admits
[Breitbart] Amidst apocalyptic-themed news coverage about the wildfires in Europe from the mainstream media, Greece’s climate change minister has admitted that the majority of the fires that have ravaged his country were a result of arson.

Greek Climate Change Minister Vassilis Kikilias has revealed that the majority of the 667 fires that have erupted across the country in recent weeks were ignited by “were caused by human hand”.

Kikilias told reporters that the people responsible were guilty of “arsons either by criminal negligence or by intention”, according to Sky News.

While legacy media outlets have begun to begrudgingly admit that arson is playing a major role in the fires, they continue to claim that supposed climate change has made it easier for the fires to spread.

The Greek newspaper Kathimerini noted, however, that a significant element in the annual problem of wildfires is that “arsonists, who are usually tried for negligence since intent is extremely hard to prove, tend to get away with small sentences, rarely serve any prison time and face no other penalty for the terrible destruction they cause to humans, animals, the environment etc.”

The Greek climate minister reported that the fires have burnt 400 square kilometres of land in just the month of July, compared to the recent yearly average of around 500 square kilometres. While devastating, it should be noted that far more land was burned in previous years, including the recorded high in 2007 when about four times as much land was burned.

“This is not something that will just occur this year. It will last and we have to face the consequences of what that means,” Kikilias said.

Over 20,000 tourists and residents have been evacuated from their homes and hotels in recent days. It has been estimated that 40 people have died as a direct result of the fires in Greece, Italy, and Algeria this season.

Conditions improved on Friday, with temperatures in the Mediterranean region dropping and wind slowing, allowing firefighters to better combat the fires that are still ablaze.

Arson has not only been identified as a cause of fires in Greece, with police drone footage in the southern Italian region of Calabria this week actually catching a man apparently in the act of trying to start a wildfire.

In response to the issue of arson, which occurs annually during the wildfire season, Calabria Governor Roberto Occhiuto established a specialised task force to combat the scourge of arson, including the fleet of thirty drones that caught the arsonist this week, Italy’s Il Giornale reports.

The Texas town caught in the middle of America's border battle
[BBC] Under the brutal heat of the midday South Texas sun, pecan farmer Magali Urbina found herself dealing with a sadly familiar scene: a family of dehydrated, injured migrants on her property. In front of her, Border Patrol officers were putting an IV drip into the arm of the father, a 32-year-old Venezuelan with dark purple bruises and fresh, swollen cuts across his body. His wife, 22, sat next to him crying while their two children - aged five and eight - watched the situation unfold, alarm visible on their faces.

Texas officials credit the plan, known as Operation Lone Star, with stopping nearly 400,000 migrants from entering the US illegally, over 30,000 criminal arrests and intercepting hundreds of millions of potentially lethal doses of fentanyl.
"This happens every day with that wire," Ms Urbina said, gesturing towards imposing and chaotic coils of razor wire glinting in the sun on Heavenly Farms, the property she runs along with her husband Hugo in the small town of Eagle Pass.

"I've seen this every day this week," she added. Just days before, she said, she had helped cut a pregnant woman free from the concertina wire.

Suicide bomber suspected as explosion at Islamist rally in Pakistan kills at least 40, wounds more than 150
[NY Post] An explosion ripped through an Islamist political rally in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least 40 people and injuring more than 150 others, police said.

The Inspector General of Police for the Bajaur district said the blast, likely a suicide bombing, took place in the town of Khar as hundreds gathered to rally behind the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) group.

Officials believe the attack was targeting members of the political group, with its regional leader, Maulana Ziaullah, among those who died in the blast, according to the Associated Press.

Officials said the event was held close to a market square in the town, and was guarded by volunteer party members holding batons.

Despite the security, police chief Akhtar Hayat Gandapur told reporters a suicide bomber likely sneaked into the venue and set off the explosion just as high ranking leaders for the political party arrived.

First responders rushed to the scene, with local broadcasts showing rescue workers carrying the injured away as other residents flee in panic.

Bajaur officials declared a health emergency given the high number of casualties and injuries; the total number of wounded was expected to rise..

Adam Khan, 45, was at the rally when the explosion knocked him to the ground and left him with splinters all over his hands and leg.

"There was all dust and smoke around and I was under the some injured people from where I hardly (could stand) up but only to see chaos and some scattered limbs," he told the AP.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl has been previously targeted by ISIS.

Hybrid Al-Badr terrorist arrested in Srinagar: Police

A hybrid terrorist
... an Indianism that means those not officially registered with any jama'at seminary markaz or ISI daftar as fidayeen, but radicalised enough to carry out a terror strike and then slip back into routine life...
of al-Badr outfit was arrested in Batmaloo locality of Srinagar along with arms and ammunition, police said today.

3 terrorists killed in Khyber, South Waziristan operations: ISPR
[Dawn] Three bad boyz were potted by security forces in separate operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber and South Wazoo districts, the military’s media affairs wing said on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an exchange of fire occurred between security personnel and Death Eaters in the Bagh area of Khyber district on July 27. During the operation, one terrorist was killed, and ammunition was recovered from his possession.

In another encounter a day later in Gomal Zam area of South Waziristan district, security forces bumped off two terrorists, the ISPR said.

The ISPR highlighted that the slain Death Eaters had been actively involved in perpetrating terror activities against security forces and were also responsible for the ruthless killings of innocent civilians.

At present, "the area is undergoing sanitisation operations" to ensure the elimination of any other Death Eaters in hiding, according to the ISPR’s statement.

Notably, local residents in the area lauded the operation and expressed their unwavering support to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism, the statement added.

Iraq
Iraqi forces thwart smuggling of thousands of dollars and local currency
ISIS, Baathist remnants, Captagon manufacturers...so many possibilities, so few clues in the text.
[Shafaq News] On Saturday, the Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) reported that it had detained three suspects who possessed nearly $130,000 in cash and a significant amount of Iraqi dinars that they intended to smuggle into northern Iraq.

IIS has reported the arrest of three Diyala suspects attempting to smuggle money worth 128,500 US dollars to the northern governorates.

The appropriate legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

Fire at Iraqi Substation Cause Widespread Power Outages
Summer in Iraq means power outages, whether from inshallah maintenance, inadequate capacity to meet demand, or deliberate sabotage. Much like California, in fact.
[Shafaq News] On Saturday, the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity confirmed a fire incident at the al-Bakr substation (123 KV) in Basra, resulting in a complete disconnection of the southern region's power lines and a subsequent shutdown of the electrical system.

According to the ministry, the fire broke out at the al-Bakr secondary conversion station in Basra Governorate. The incident led to the disconnection of transmission lines between the southern and central regions, causing system frequencies to spike and resulting in the disconnection of generating units in production stations.

Efforts are underway to restore power by the National Control Center in coordination with control centers in the respective governorates. The ministry assures the public that the system will return to regular operation within the coming hours.
That was inshallah and inadequate supply. Herewith the sabotage:
Simultaneously, a security source from Saladin reported an "act of sabotage" in which three electrical towers were detonated with bombs on the province's outskirts, near the borders of Anbar province.

The attack specifically targeted the Saladin thermal transmission line - Haditha, operating at a voltage of 400 kV, rendering it out of service. The detonation caused severe damage to three towers numbered 272, 273, and 274 in the Qanater area.

The incident occurred in a dunes area, outside the line of defense and lacking adequate security protection, despite prior appeals and warnings about the potential targeting of towers by vandal terrorist groups.

Several Iraqi governorates experienced power outages before these incidents due to technical defects. The Wasit 400 line, linking the central and southern governorates, encountered issues, resulting in a collapse of the electrical system.

In response, maintenance teams are on general alert to identify faults and expedite the restoration of electricity to all regions affected by the disruptions.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Over 200,000 at first weekend rallies since overhaul law passed
All numbers are smaller when seen in a mirror.
[IsraelTimes] For the 30th week in a row but for the first time since the first piece of judicial overhaul legislation passed, mass nationwide rallies were held against the plans by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to weaken the judiciary.
"Check's cleared"
Monday’s vote saw politicians approve a measure that prevents judges from striking down government and ministerial decisions on the basis they are "unreasonable." The law was approved by all 64 coalition members — with the entire 56-strong opposition boycotting the vote — despite the sustained mass protests, vehement opposition from top judicial, security, economic and public figures, repeated warnings from allies, chief among them the US, and thousands of military reservists vowing to quit service.

Protest organizers have vowed to keep the demonstrations going.

Hundreds of thousands of people protested across the country against the overhaul. Some 174,000 people gathered for the main rally at Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv Saturday, according to Channel 13 news, which cited the Crowd Solutions firm. Tens of thousands of others protested in some 150 other cities, towns and intersections across the country, including a reported 25,000 in Haifa, thousands in Jerusalem, and what organizers said were 17,000 in Kfar Saba.

In Tel Aviv, three separate marches set off in different directions across the city from Kaplan Street after the main demonstration. Some blocked traffic on Tel Aviv’s main Ayalon Highway, with police dispersing demonstrators.

Toward the end of the protest, a vehicle rammed through a group of anti-overhaul protesters in south Tel Aviv, lightly injuring a protester.

Eyewitnesses claimed that shortly before the filmed incident, the driver rammed other protesters and then got out with a knife and threatened protesters who sought to photograph his license plate.

Police said the driver had been apprehended but labeled the incident an accident.

Prof. Shikma Bressler, one of the main leaders of the protest movement, told protesters in Tel Aviv: "We have reached the end of a stirring week in which all the masks have finally come off."

"We understand that the seemingly moderate members of the coalition have become, perhaps unwilling or perhaps deliberately, full partners of the murderous Moslems in the government," Bressler said.

"All the collaborators of the dictatorship knew: no one is impressed by talk of condemning the predatory legislation a second after you raised a hand in its favor. No one is impressed by talk of unity, a second after you ran over the majority of the people," she added.

Netanyahu said this week he would seek to reach a broad consensus on the other elements of the proposal, but gave the opposition a November deadline to reach compromise agreements. He was also ambivalent, in US media interviews, on whether he would honor a High Court decision to strike down the reasonability law; the justices are to hear petitions against it in September.

Earlier Saturday evening, hundreds of people blocked the Gome Junction in northern Israel, and thousands blocked a main road in Rehovot, as well as the Karkur Junction.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested, then released shortly after for taking part in blocking the Karkur Junction.

Police also said they opened an investigation into signs at a Tel Aviv demonstration that featured the faces and names of a handful of officers who allegedly used excessive force against them at recent rallies, a move denounced by a civil rights group.

The passage of the first law Monday sparked massive backlash, with a number of global credit agencies issuing special reports warning of the negative consequences of the overhaul and the significant risks to Israel’s economy.

Netanyahu and other brass hats have dismissed the threats, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, of the far-right Religious Zionism party, openly blaming the anti-overhaul protests.

#2  From what I have read so far, and I am still looking.

It sounds like Israel's government wants the final Authoritarian say over the written law.
Kinda like what DC Coup now has here in the USA, with a politically steered - judge selected Liberal Federal Court System and a US DOJ that has been proven to selectively use and/or apply enforcement.

NOTED: how the Media is using wording to incite readers there like here also.
"...a vehicle rammed through a group of anti-overhaul protesters ....lightly injuring a protester."
Face it if the driver RAMMED thru the crowd there would have been serious injuries.

ALSO NOTED: The protesters (Blocking streets, IED's , arson and etc..) are using and mimicking ANTI-FA in their tactics.

Overall the CITIZENS should be the ones VOTING on this and NOT a group of politicians deciding it.

#3  Theory: Israel’s Supreme Court has no check or balance and is autonomous of the elected government. Soros et al exploited a weekness in the American system weaponizing the judiciary in a system where judges are elected or appointed by the executive and accountable. Unless I’m mistaken, In Israel judges are not elected and are self appointed by other judges. Could Netanyahu’s government be interceding a soros like takeover of the entire judiciary of Israel?

#4  Could Netanyahu’s government be interceding a soros like takeover of the entire judiciary of Israel?

That’s my sense, Jefe101. Thank you for saying it better than I could have done.
