Afghanistan
Brutal Beheading in Herat: Unidentified Assailants Claim the Lives of Nurse and Brother
[8am] Local sources in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province have reported a horrifying incident where unidentified individuals brutally killed a sister and her brother in the region.

This tragic event occurred on Monday, July 17th, on Haji Hashem Road, in the Khosh Gate area of Herat.

The identity of the victim, who worked as a nurse in the Herat provincial hospital, has not been disclosed.

According to the sources, the assailants first entered a house in this part of Herat city and then beheaded the two individuals.

As of now, the motive behind this incident remains unclear.

Local Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
authorities have not provided any statement on the matter.

Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, mysterious killings, especially targeting healthcare workers, have increased in various provinces of the country.
“Did the Prophet Mohammed have healthcare workers? No, he did not! He drank camel piss and was grateful for it, and so should you!”
This marks the second case of a mysterious murder of a female healthcare worker in the past three months. Prior to this, on Tuesday, May 16th, the hanged body of a female nurse named Nazdana was found in Jaghori district, Ghazni province.
Could be the Taliban, could be ISIS, could be cranky male friends’n’relations engaging in a spot of honour killing... but it’s probably the Taliban.

Al-Shabaab spy jailed for ten years in Mogadishu

A military court in Mogadishu has sentenced a man accused of being a member of the outlawed terrorist group al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
to ten years in jail.

According to court documents, Yusuf Hassan Ibrahim has been a member of al-Shabaab since 2019 working on a monthly of $130.

Libyan Court Defers Abdullah Al-Senussi Trial
[LIBYAREVIEW] The trial of former Libyan Intelligence Chief, Abdullah al-Senussi has been deferred to a session slated for 7 August, as reported by al-Senussi’s lawyer, Ahmed Nashad.

Nashad elaborated that the court session commenced at 1 pm, and was presided over by the head of the department. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
two consultants were absent, the representative of the Libyan Public Prosecution did not attend, and the court’s decision to summon al-Senussi to the session was not executed.

Nashad further stated, "It is the right of my client to be acquitted of the charges levelled against him, as they lack a legal basis. This is clear from the appeal court’s ruling at the Supreme Court, which sent back the case to the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Criminal Court, after its previous ruling against him."

He noted that the trial period for his client spanned two years (2014 and 2015), before the criminal department at the Tripoli Appeals Court. The sessions were held at al-Hadba Prison, and concluded with a conviction against him and others.

Nashad commented, "In our defence before the Tripoli Appeal, which lasted more than 4.5 hours, we presented all evidence that refutes the allegations, and confirms al-Senussi’s innocence of the charges brought by the Public Prosecution."

The lawyer indicated that "despite all this, the court had a different viewpoint, leading to its ruling, which has been proven erroneous. The case was returned to the Tripoli Criminal Court to be examined by another body, in case of conviction before the Tripoli Criminal Court." They plan to appeal the ruling before the Supreme Court to have it annulled, as was done with the previous ruling.

Regarding the charges directed at his client, Nashad observed, "The Public Prosecution has the belief that al-Senussi is responsible for all that has happened in the country. They even think he could be asked about the reason for the passage of migratory birds in the country’s skies and their numbers."

In 2015, a death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
was issued against al-Senussi in the case of the Abu Salim prison massacre, one of several cases being considered by the judiciary against him.

Islah sends reinforcements to Mukalla as STC plans to retake Seiyun
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] On Monday, Pro-Saudi Islah forces in Hadramout
...the formerly independent Qu'aiti state and sultanate, annexed by Communist South Yemen in 1968, encompassing a region along the Gulf of Aden, extending eastwards to the borders of the Dhofar region of Oman. The people are called Hadhramis and speak Hadhrami Arabic. The city Tarimis is estimated to contain the highest concentration of descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (PTUI) anywhere in the world, approximately seven in every square yard...
sent new military reinforcements to the outskirts of the eastern city of Mukalla.

According to sources, the military reinforcements for the first military region deployed in the Sah district and various northern areas near the city of Mukalla, where the leadership of the UAE-backed factions is stationed.

This came as tensions between the coalition parties increased, especially after the second Hadrami uprising of the STC held an expanded meeting in the al-Rudud area. During the meeting the group drew up plans to invade the Islah stronghold in the city of Seiyun.

In the past hours, new military reinforcements of the STC arrived in Mukalla, where they began installing anti-armor cannons in preparation for a decisive battle against Saudi-backed factions.

Tensions in Hadhramaut are expected to increase in the next few days

Two citizens killed in Shabwah shooting
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] At least two citizens were killed and another maimed in gunfire in front of a cop shoppe affiliated with factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition forces in Ataq city, the center of Shabwah province, eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
According to local sources in the city, one of the button men, believed to belong to the "Shabwah Defense" factions, opened fire on the citizens while they were in a "cafeteria" for selling juices near the headquarters of the security department in the province, leaving two dead and one maimed, on the background of a tribal revolt between the ’Al Nasser’ and ’Rubiz’ tribes in al-Awaleq.

The sources confirmed that the button men managed to flee to an unknown destination, and no action was taken to chase them by the factions loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Shabwah has been witnessing an unprecedented insecurity state and chaos due to the spread of pro-coalition factions since the beginning of 2016 in several districts to fuel tribal conflicts by disbursing money and weapons to ensure the achievement of the interests of the coalition.

Six FC men wounded in Peshawar suicide bombing
[Dawn] Six Frontier Corps (FC) men were maimed when a jacket wallah rammed an car bomb into a vehicle carrying the paramilitary personnel in Hayatabad on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.

SP Cantonment Circle Waqas Rafiq told news hounds that it was a suicide kaboom which targeted the vehicle passing through Phase-II of the posh residential area. He said that the injured personnel had been shifted to hospital and were said to be in stable, pH balanced condition.

SSP Operations Haroon Rashid Khan said that the blast appeared to be a vehicle-borne improvised bomb. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
he added that they were investigating the attack from "different angles".

SSP Khan said that the police were already on high alert ahead of Muharram and were carrying out search operations to avert any untoward incident. Besides, he said, police have also deployed personnel at the entry and exit points of the city.

A source told Dawn that an estimated 20-25 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bombing. "High explosives packed in a CNG cylinder were kept in the back of the car which was rammed into the pickup from behind," he said.

He said that since the explosives were packed in the rear of the car, the blast thrust was in the opposite direction of where the FC vehicle was heading, which resulted in fewer casualties. The source said that the bomber’s body was recovered nearly intact and he appeared to be in his late thirties.

Mulla Qasim, a spokesperson for a new group calling itself Tehrik Jihad Pakistain (TJP) in a statement grabbed credit for the attack. However,

Police clear Ayalon Highway after long day of nationwide protests; 45 arrested in all
[IsraelTimes] Tens of thousands gathered across the country to rail against overhaul legislation; leaders of the protest movement launch march to Jerusalem along Route 1

Dozens of people were arrested Tuesday as the latest national day of mass protests against the government’s push to overhaul the judiciary continued late into the night, with police deploying water cannons and mounted officers to clear demonstrators blocking roads.

Tens of thousands erupted into the streets throughout the country, with protests taking on fresh urgency amid the coalition’s move to pass within days a law curbing courts’ oversight of government decisions. Organizers had called for a national "Day of Resistance®" against the bill.

According to police, a total of 45 people were arrested throughout the day.

In Tel Aviv, hundreds of people marched onto the Ayalon Highway around 9 p.m., blocking both directions of the major artery that passes through the city. Police eventually used water cannons and mounted officers to force open the road, one carriageway at a time. The highway was reopened before midnight.

This did not end events, however, with hundreds of activists including leaders of the grassroots protest movement setting out on a nighttime march along the Route 1 highway from Tel Aviv toward Jerusalem.

The group planned to sleep at Ariel Sharon Park and continue in the early morning. Further protest events were planned Wednesday.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who is responsible for police, arrived at the location of the Ayalon protests. The far-right minister, who has called for tough police action against anti-overhaul protesters, was reportedly greeted with cries of "terrorist" (he notoriously holds a past conviction for support of a terror group — the Death Eater Kach party).

Police were also reported to use water cannons to drive protesters from the Karkur Junction on Route 65, midway between Tel Aviv and Haifa. Police said 16 demonstrators were arrested at the scene.

At Ein HaMifratz Junction on Route 4, north of Haifa, two people were arrested during festivities with police. Ynet reported that three protesters required medical attention after pepper spray was squirted at them from an unidentified individual in a passing car.

There were violent mostly peaceful festivities between protesters and police in Jerusalem when demonstrators tried to force their way past police to enter Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Street, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a private residence.

A clip shared on social media showed a police officer briefly grabbing a protester by the throat.

In another incident, a 40-year-old protester was maimed when she was hit by a car on Route 531 near Raanana. Police said the incident was a road accident, and the driver was detained for questioning.

The day of protests came as the government plowed ahead with legislation that will do away with courts’ ability to strike down cabinet and ministerial decisions over their "unreasonableness," part of a wide-reaching package of changes to the judiciary that critics say will remove critical fetters on government power and weaken the Supreme Court.

Earlier in the day, demonstrators gathered at train stations across Israel causing disruptions during afternoon commuter hours. Police restricted access to several stations during the afternoon rallies, with hundreds gathering outside Tel Aviv’s HaShalom Station as demonstrators and journalists were barred from entering.

Demonstrators who did manage to get into the station rallied on the platform, with Israel Railways briefly instructing trains not to stop there on the grounds that the protest posed a danger.

Officers arrested six protesters who allegedly tried to delay a train.

In the central city of Lod, police kept people out of the station entirely and at Haifa’s Hof HaCarmel Station, a large police presence kept demonstrators off the platforms.

In Binyamina, police allowed protesters to enter the platforms but warned them not to try to block the trains.

Rallies were also held at train stations in Beersheba and Herzliya, where police arrested two on suspicion of disturbing public order.

According to a police statement, officers were instructed to block protesters from the train platforms, citing "a clear danger to life and our role to safeguard the wellbeing and security of citizens."

Much more detail of the day’s events here.

Syria accuses Israel of carrying out airstrikes on capital, wounding two soldiers
[IsraelTimes] Israeli fighter jets carried out strikes against targets in the Syrian capital Damascus shortly after midnight on Wednesday, wounding two soldiers, Syria’s state-run media reported.

Syria’s state news agency, SANA, said Israeli Air Force warplanes launched their missiles from over the Golan Heights, targeting a number of sites in and around Damascus.

SANA, citing a military source, said Syrian air defenses responded to the Israeli incursion, downing "most" of the missiles. Syria regularly claims to intercept Israeli missiles, though military analysts doubt such assertions.

The state-run media outlet said that "material damage" was caused to the sites that were targeted, and two soldiers were maimed.

Images circulating online showed flames and smoke rising from several sites in the capital.

There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition-linked war monitor, said the strikes marked the 20th time Israel has struck targets in Syria this year.

The observatory said the strikes had hit military sites and warehouses of the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, an ally of the Syrian government, causing a fire to break out.

The conditions of the two soldiers were not immediately clear. In recent years, numerous Syrian soldiers serving in air defense units have been killed in Israeli Arclight airstrike

"The seizure included luxury real estate and apartments owned by the governor in Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Batroun, in addition to a number of cars," the official added.

The decision prevents Salameh, whose mandate expires at the end of the month, from disposing of any of these properties, "by selling them or transferring their ownership to other people," until the local probe is completed.

If the charges against Salameh are dropped, "the property seizures will be lifted, but if he is convicted, then the property will be confiscated... and sold at public auction for the benefit of the Lebanese treasury," the official said.

In March 2022, La Belle France, Germany and Luxembourg seized assets worth 120 million euros ($135 million) in a move linked to a probe into Salameh's wealth.

In February, Lebanon charged Salameh with embezzlement, money laundering and tax evasion as part of its own investigations.

The domestic probe was opened following a request for assistance from Switzerland

's public prosecutor, who is looking into more than $300 million in fund movements by Salameh and his brother.

Salameh is wanted in La Belle France and Germany, and the Interpol has issued a Red Notice pursuant to the arrest warrants.

An Interpol Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant but asks authorities worldwide to provisionally detain people pending possible extradition or other legal actions.

Lebanon does not extradite its nationals but Salameh could go on trial in Lebanon if local judicial authorities decide the accusations against him are founded, an official previously told AFP.
