Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief July 17, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • AFGHAN ICON, HASIBA NOORI, KILLED BY GUNMEN IN PAKISTAN – A friend and fellow performer confirmed that Noori had been killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by a group of unidentified men. She was reputedly shot multiple times but no additional information about the attack was available as of publication time. She had traveled to Pakistan approximately 11 months ago and had reestablished her career in Islamabad. Police had yet to release a statement about her murder but said an investigation was underway.

  • SOME NGOS ORDERED TO HALT RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR FAILING TO ‘HIRE’ TALIBAN SPONSORED JOB APPLICANTS – International NGOs have been reeling from the edicts being issued from Kandahar over who they can hire. It appears that the Taliban are trying to take advantage of the situation and have provided lists of ‘preferred candidates’ to directors to fill vacant positions. In many cases, the Taliban issued threats to close down all relief activities unless the NGOs relent and hire their lackeys. Reports out of Zabul say that a major health-related NGO has been ordered to halt all operations over its refusal to hire its personnel. A source close to the situation in Qalat says the NGO attempted to act in good faith and interviewed some of the men who were recommended by the Taliban but demurred due to a lack of education and the inability to read/write on the part of the candidates. Other aid organizations around the country have complained of similar abuses of power.

  • PAKISTAN COUNTER-TERRORISM OPERATION SUCCESSFUL IN PUNJAB – The Counter-Terrorism Department in Punjab announced they had arrested 5 members of ISIS-K during two operations in both Gujranwala and Multan. Among those arrested was a key ISIS-K Commander. Of note, all 5 of those under arrest possessed Afghan national identity cards and some mobile phones with Afghan numbers that had recently been used. Explosives, weapons, and ammunition were also recovered. The discovery of ID cards and Afghan phones would seem to support Pakistan’s continued claims that the terror network is using Afghan soil for at least some of its activities.

  • LEADING BRITISH POLITICIAN SAYS UK SHOULD REOPEN ITS EMBASSY IN KABUL – Tobias Ellwood, Chairman of the Defence Select Committee and a senior Tory leader wrote in an editorial that it was time to reopen the British embassy in Kabul and begin negotiating with the Taliban. Mr. Ellwood claims that nothing of substance can be accomplished by adhering to the current strategy of non-engagement. Mr. Ellwood is an officer in the Reserves and lost a brother in the 2002 terrorist attack in Bali. He says he is definitely not an ‘appeaser’ but that the current policy route is unlikely to make things better for Afghans and/or the region.

  • TALIBAN RESPOND TO PAKISTAN’S CLAIM IT HAS ABANDONED ITS COMMITMENTS TO PEACE – The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid spoke with the BBC Pashto channel on Saturday and responded to several incendiary remarks made by both the Pakistan Minister of Defense and Army Chief of Staff over Afghanistan’s perceived reluctance to halt cross-border terror activity. Mujahid reminded Pakistan that the Doha Agreement was signed with the United States and not with Pakistan. He then proceeded to reiterate the claim that Afghanistan was not being used by terrorist groups as a safe haven and that no attacks would be permitted to be carried out from its soil. In response to a question about a possible Taliban response to Pakistani strikes, he said that any attacks by Pakistan on Afghanistan would be ‘dealt with’.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Kabul: Sources in Kabul say the Taliban executed a raid on an ISIS-K hideout in the Bagrami neighborhood overnight. 2 ISIS-K terrorists were reportedly killed and 5 were arrested.

Kunar: An unidentified Resistance group is daid to have ambushed a convoy transporting the TTP’s commander (Noor Wali Mehsud) along with over a dozen suspected ISIS-K and TTP guards. The location of the attack was said to ve north of Jalalabad. A source said that many in the party were injured when the Resistance element opened fire on the vehicles, but a firm casualty estimate was not available.

Paktika: Members of the Islamic National Movement for Independence (INFMA) claim to have assaulted a Taliban patrol near Sharni and reportedly killed 3 Taliban members. 1 of their fighters was reportedly wounded in the clash.

NEXT 24 HOURS
MORALITY POLICE TO START HIJAB PATROLS AGAIN IN IRAN – Police confirmed the patrols would begin on Sunday in Tehran and then spread to other major cities across the country in the coming week. Both car and foot patrols will be used to try and find violators of the strict clothing ordinances. Those found in violation could face fines, psychological counseling, and prison still remains a possible outcome as the national dialogue in May failed to reach a consensus over removing the threat of jail. At-risk Afghans in Iran should be aware that the patrols are likely and we assess that enforcement could be overly enthusiastic for the first several weeks. Protests could begin anew depending on how many Iranian women choose to ignore the rule.

At least 18 Al-Shabaab members killed in Danab force operation

The Danab commandos carried out operations against al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
in the villages between the Gal’ad district and the Bud-bud of Galgudud region.

Officials of the military forces who spoke to the state media said that they have inflicted a great loss on the al-Shabaab group during the massive crackdown in the remote villages.

In the operations, the US-trained and equipped forces destroyed stores where explosives were stored by al-Shabaab, according to a statement issued by the defense ministry.

The government said that many al-Shabaab fighters and leaders were killed in the operation. The latest operation in Gariyale left 18 al-Shabaab members dead.

The state media published the pictures of al-Shabaab corpses on its telegram channel.

The commander of the 16th Battalion of Danab Ahmed Abdullahi Nur Beeryare, said that the government will continue the operation until they eliminate al-Shabaab.

Gal’ad is one of the areas that were liberated from al-Shabaab earlier this year.

During the operation, the Lions of Islam carried out one of the most devastating attacks in which the deputy commander of the Danab army, Hassan Ture, died along with other officers.

Key Terrorist in 2012 Benghazi Attack Detained by Turkey and Deported to Libya, Where He May be Released
[Atlas News] On July 11, Libyan al-Qaeda terrorist Ziad Balaam was briefly detained by authorities in Turkey, where he was originally slated to be deported to Libyan National Army (LNA) controlled Benghazi to face trial.

It appears, however, that Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibeh has ordered him to be deported to Tripoli, which is under the control of the UN-backed Government of National Unity (GNU), according to journalist Adam Housley and former CIA targeter Sarah Adams. Balaam is said to be in custody of the RADA Special Deterrence Forces, according to Atlas News sources. Currently, the GNU has not signaled any intent to charge Balaam, who is a leader among groups allied to the GNU, raising fears he may be released.

Ziad Balaam, whose full name is Farid Mohammad Muhammed Balaam, has been a career jihadist with decades of affiliation with al-Qaeda. In 2002, Balaam was sentenced to life in Libyan prison for his involvement with the terror organization in Sudan, but was broken out of prison amidst the outbreak of the Libyan Civil War. From there, he joined the al-Qaeda-affiliated Omar Mokhtar Brigade, part of the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council and led by al-Qaeda’s Abdel Moneim al-Madhouni, which fought to resist LNA forces under Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar. Following al-Madhouni’s death, Balaam joined al-Qaeda’s Malik Brigade under Ansar al-Sharia, where he played a key role in the 2012 Benghazi attacks against a United States’ diplomatic compound and CIA annex, which left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service officer Sean Smith, and CIA Global Response Staff Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

#1  Ziad Balaam’s return from Turkey exposes Ankara’s sponsorship of wanted terrorists, August 05, 2020
Aya Ezz
Although Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli has repeatedly denied the presence of extremists among its ranks, the return of Ziad Balaam, a terrorist leader close to al-Qaeda, to Tripoli after seeking treatment in Turkey has exposed the GNA’s embrace of terrorists.
A security source in Misrata said that Balaam, who was receiving treatment and rehabilitation in Turkey after losing his right foot in a Libyan National Army (LNA) strike on GNA terrorist militias in western Libya, returned to Libya on Saturday, August 2, accompanied by a number of Syrian militants. The source pointed out that Balaam left Libya to seek treatment in Istanbul after Libyan terrorist mufti Sadiq al-Ghariani, who currently resides in Turkey, intervened in his favor.

UAE-backed forces continue incursion into Islah territory in Taiz
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Large military units of the so-called "Guardians of the Republic", backed by the UAE, continued on Saturday their incursion into the western coast and the city of al-Turbah in Taiz province, southwest Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, local media sources said.

This comes with the aim of controlling the sites under the control of the Islah Party forces loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in al-Hujaria areas in Taiz.

According to the sources, elements affiliated with the Guardians of the Republic led by "Tariq Saleh", a member of the coalition-formed "Presidential Leadership Council", began to establish military sites in the areas adjacent to al-Turbah city, which hosts one of the largest camps of the so-called "Taiz axis" controlled by the Saudi-backed Islah forces.

The sources added that the elements of "Tariq Saleh" are planning to establish new camps in the mountain range overlooking the al-Shamaytain district, whose center is the city of al-Turbah, which is of strategic and geographical importance.

STC factions seize Islah party weapons being smuggled into Aden
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions thwarted the transfer of large quantities of Islah party weapons to the city of Aden.

According to pro-STC media, the "Security Belt forces" seized a shipment of weapons on board a large truck carrying a number of detonators and ammunition for various weapons at the western entrance of the city, in the Ras Omran area, coming from restive Lahj
... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement
road.

The sources said that the weapons shipment was hidden, including a large amount of detonators and bags containing submachine gun ammunition, in addition to three pieces of Kalashnikov assault rifles, an FN Minimi submachine gun, and 10 Tata pistols with bullets, in addition to an automatic weapon Periscope.

Protestors in Aden demand coalition retreat from the city
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Angry demonstrators on Sunday roamed a number of streets in the city of Aden, denouncing the economic collapse and key services for the fourth consecutive day in the city and the rest of the southern cities under the control of Saudi-led coalition factions.

Protesters who roamed the streets of Crater held banners denouncing the coalition’s policy, chanting "No more alliance" and other anti-coalition slogans amid demands for the departure of corrupt loyalists.

The participants denounced the silence of the pro-coalition government towards the continued collapse of the local currency, which was reflected in the rise of food commodity prices and the deterioration of the city’s electricity service without any treatment to reduce and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The angry protesters called on the coalition and its "Presidential leadership council" to leave Aden and stop their policy of recklessness towards the people of the city.

Coalition governor attacked by crowd at festival in Mukalla
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s supporters on Sunday threw stones and shoes at the Hadhramaut governor loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, in Mukalla, the center of the governorate.

A video footage circulated by activists on social media showed Governor Bin Madi being attacked with stones and shoes as he climbed to the stage of the town’s Season Festival in the city of Mukalla, causing the event to fail.

Pro-STC activists attributed the attack on Bin Madi to his bias towards Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in the formation of the Hadhramaut National Council, which was announced at the end of June by political and social figures from the tribes of the Valley Districts.

They stressed that bin Madi is no longer desirable to be in Mukalla, which is under the control of the UAE-funded "Hadrami Elite" factions.

Veteran, Guardsmen among officers involved in Fargo police shooting
[Yahoo] A veteran and two National Guard members were among the police officers who responded to a traffic crash in North Dakota on Friday, according to a statement from the North Dakota National Guard adjutant general.

A gunman opened fire on police and firefighters "for no known reason" as they responded to the crash, killing one officer and wounding two others before another officer killed him, Fargo’s police Chief David Zibolski said Saturday.

A 25-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting Friday afternoon, but authorities did not say who shot her. The gunman did not hit any firefighters, Zibolski said, but a fire truck was struck by gunfire.

Zibolski said officer Jake Wallin, a military veteran, was killed, and officers Andrew Dotas and Tyler Hawes were wounded. Officer Zach Robinson shot and killed the suspect, Zibolski said.

Zibolski identified the shooter as Mohamad Barakat, 37, of Fargo, but provided few details about him or the shooting, citing officials’ desire to protect the investigation. He said he was confident authorities would eventually determine the motive.
Valley News Live spoke to Mr. Barakat’s neighbours:
“I know every time I had an encounter with him he was very timid and standoffish.” Ringwelski said. “He didn’t want to be around you and of course that made you not want to be around him”

As the investigation into the incident continues, Gosney and Ringwelski find themselves reflecting on their brief encounters with Barakat. They recall him as a silent individual, never uttering a word during their encounters, including one shared in an elevator where they both rode in silence.

“He never talked,” Gosney said. “He never said a word to anyone really, he didn’t look up to you, and didn’t really make much eye contact.”

#1  Heavy’s Five Fast Facts has an awful lot about the officers who were shot, but strangely only this about the miscreant:

1. The Police Chief Said That Mohamad Barakat Shot the Officers ‘for No Known Reason,’ Calling Him a ‘Violent Gunman’

In a news conference, Chief David Zibolski said for “no known reason at all a violent gunman attacked our officers, firing multiple rounds.”

According to Zibolski, police were responding to a traffic crash scene that they don’t believe Barakat was involved in. He also opened up on fire officials, Zibolski said.

The FBI is involved in the investigation, he said. “Our officers were out there performing their duties, investigating what we would say was a routine traffic accident,” said Zibolski. As they did that, he said, Barakat “began firing at them, striking three of them. He also fired shots at firefighters” who were tending to crash victims, but none of them was struck.

He said a fire truck was struck by gunfire.

Police have not released a photo or biographical information on Barakat. He said police had prior contact with Barakat, but nothing significant. He did not detail it. He did not explain where authorities believe Barakat got the weapon, and he did not identify the type of weapon.

Online records show Barakat living in Fargo at an apartment along 23rd Avenue. He said there was an investigation into whether it was an “ambush,” but added, “it does not appear he was part of the collision.”

All of the other addresses listed in public records for Barakat are also in Fargo.

UP Man Arrested By ATS For Links With Pakistan's ISI
[OneIndia] A man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested allegedly for links with the ISI. He is accused of spying on the Indian military establishment and passing on the information to his handlers in Pakistain.

"Raees, a resident of Gonda, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS). He was summoned to the ATS headquarters here and during interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in spying," PTI quoted Prashant Kumar, Special DG (Law and Order) as saying in a statement.

The statement claims that Raees came in contact with one Armaan in Mumbai who persuaded him to spy against India. He was also promised money and a job in Dubai by a Pak citizen.

In 2022, Raees was contacted via WhatsApp by an international number and requested to get in touch with Hussain. Subsequently, he was instructed to provide images of crucial military installations in India, as reported by the police. Additionally, the authorities stated that Salman and an unidentified individual were implicated in the incident.

He received Rs 15,000 and was in touch with the ISI via a Bangladesh-registered mobile number.

An FIR has been registered against Raees at the Lucknow ATS cop shoppe under IPC sections 121 A (waging or attempting to wage war) and 123 (concealing with intent to facilitate design to wage war), and under the Officials Secrets Act, 1923, he said.

The cops are now in the process of arresting Armaan and Salman.

Iraq
Iraq busts captagon lab in Muthanna
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces on Sunday carried out what has been labeled as the country’s first seizure of a captagon laboratory in Muthanna province, the interior ministry announced, as Baghdad tries to combat the rapid spread of narcotics.

The laboratory was seized in a joint operation between the Rapid Response Force and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. At least 27.5 kilograms of captagon pills were confiscated.

"Today, and maybe for the first time, a laboratory where captagon is produced was seized," Saad Maan, spokesperson for Iraq's Interior Ministry, said on Sunday, lauding the efforts of the anti-narcotics directorate.

Captagon is an amphetamine-type stimulant which has been spreading across the Middle East, with Syria as the main supplier and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
the primary consumer.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani last week ordered the establishment of rehabilitation centers in all Iraqi provinces, excluding the Kurdistan Region, as part of his cabinet’s commitment to combat growing drug trade and use as seriously as the country fights terrorism.

"God willing, Iraq’s war on drugs will be a victorious war. The same way we achieved victory against terrorism, we will undoubtedly achieve victory against drugs and drug lords," Maan said.

Around 15,000 people were arrested on drug-related charges in Iraq in 2022 and more than 400 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated, according to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in Iraq’s Ministry of Interior. Around 250,000 captagon pills were seized from a school under renovation in Anbar province in late June.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel detains 10 Palestinians, dozens of settlers break into Al-Aqsa
The view from Egypt.
[AlAhram] Israeli occupation forces arrested at least 10 Paleostinians during raids across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, on Saturday night and Sunday, according to local sources and witnesses cited by Paleostinian News Agency WAFA.

During confrontations in the Silwan neighborhoud of occupied Jerusalem, Israeli police arrested a Paleostinian young man named Ahmad Jamil Silwadi, along with his father who was trying to intervene.

Israeli occupation forces arrested two Paleostinians and injured another with live bullets during a raid on the town of Tell in Nablus, while a third Paleostinian was arrested in a simultaneous raid on the nearby town of Qusin.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces blocked the two main entrances to the village of Tuqu in Bethlehem province, preventing locals from entering or leaving.

Hours after a Paleostinian gunman opened fire on a car in the occupied West Bank, injuring three Israelis, the Israeli authorities made this announcement.

What's more, dozens of murderous Moslem Israeli settlers, guarded by the police, broke into the courtyards of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.

Scores of Israeli settlers entered the compound through the Moroccan Gate in groups and performed rituals under the protection of Israeli coppers, according to local sources.

Israeli occupation authorities have been allowing Israeli settlers into the compound almost daily since 2003, violating the longstanding status quo, stipulating that non-Moslems can visit the site at specific times but are not allowed to pray there.

These incidents reached a head in April when Israeli police assaulted the mosque, attacking Paleostinian worshippers and injuring at least 50 and arresting hundreds.

In 1967, Israel captured East Jerusalem, where al-Aqsa Mosque is located, in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
Another Al Ahram article adds this loaded background:
At least 190 Palestinians, and 26 Israelis, have been killed this year, according to an AFP tally compiled from official sources from both sides.

The Palestinians see the violence as a natural response to 56 years of occupation, including stepped-up settlement construction by Israel’s government and increased violence by Israeli settlers.

Israel occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Mideast war, along with the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem. Palestinians seek those territories for their independent state.

Israeli man seriously injured, 2 daughters lightly hurt in West Bank terror shooting; Hamasnik quickly captured
[IsraelTimes] Children hit by shrapnel in attack near Tekoa settlement; IDF later announces gunman arrested in Bethlehem

An Israeli man was shot and seriously maimed, and his two daughters were lightly hurt, in a terror shooting attack in the West Bank on Sunday morning, the military and medics said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the Paleostinian gunman opened fire from a passing vehicle at the victim’s car on a highway near the settlement of Tekoa, south of Bethlehem and about 16 kilometers (10 miles) south of Jerusalem.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics took a 35-year-old man to the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, in serious but stable condition. MDA said the man’s two daughters, aged 9 and 14, were also taken to Shaare Zedek, for light injuries as a result of shrapnel.

The victims were later named as Elroi Kapach and his two daughters, Rachel and Avigayil, from the adjacent settlement of Nokdim.

The alleged gunman was arrested by members of the elite Duvdevan unit in the nearby city of Bethlehem, after receiving information from the Shin Bet security agency and Military Intelligence Directorate of his whereabouts, the military said.

The IDF said troops also seized the car used by the alleged terrorist, along with the M-16 assault rifle suspected to have been used in the attack.

Another two suspects were also detained in Bethlehem, the IDF said.

The suspects were not immediately named and it was unclear if the manhunt was ongoing for any other suspects.

Gunman in West Bank terror shooting said to be a Hamas operative

[IsraelTimes] Following his arrest, the suspect in today’s West Bank terror shooting is identified in reports as Amar al-Najjar, a 26-year-old Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, activist from Hebron who previously served time in Israeli prison.

Israeli army used AI to organize airstrikes
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has begun using artificial intelligence (AI) to select targets for air strikes and organize logistics.
*Gasp* The cheaters!!
This was reported by Bloomberg on July 16.

According to the source, AI is used to process huge amounts of data when choosing targets for strikes. After that, the Fire Factory system, also created using artificial intelligence, plans such attacks.

It is noted that the latter takes data on approved military targets to calculate the required amount of ammunition, prioritize, set targets for aircraft and drones, and scheduling attacks. At the same time, it is specified that now such technology is not regulated at the international or state level.

As the IDF spokesman told the agency, the work of AI is controlled by operators who approve the targets they have chosen. It is also indicated that supporters of the use of this technology are confident that the use of AI in the future will lead to minimization of human losses, while opponents, on the contrary, believe that because of this, the death toll will only increase.

According to the publication, the Israel Defense Forces used AI during the 11-day conflict in the Gaza Strip in 2021, which the IDF described as an "AI war", using this technology to locate sites for launching missiles and deploying drones.

As reported by IA Regnum, on June 2, the British newspaper The Guardian wrote that an AI-controlled US Air Force drone during simulation tests decided to eliminate the operator who prevented him from completing the task. According to the head of the USAF AI Test and Operations, Colonel Tucker Hamilton , the system realized that the person operating it did not allow it to eliminate the threat, for which it would receive points.

#2  If you use an Arclight strike, you don't need AI. Just designate an area.
Yeah, yeah. I know. Despite what anti-Semites say, the Jews are actually very ethical about their strikes, using the minimal minimum amount of munitions to get the job done.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
4 military personnel injured in quarrel in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] Four military personnel of Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militia were maimed on Saturday after a fight broke out between the two parties in the city of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source from the government forces in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that three military security personnel, affiliated with the government forces, were maimed by gunfire, while a holy warrior of Usoud al-Sharqiya faction was also injured following a dispute that escalated into a shootout near al-Jaz bakery in Deir ez-Zor.

The argument was initially between a soldier of the military security and another holy warrior of the Usoud al-Sharqiya faction. The situation escalated when gunnies of the Usoud al-Sharqiya faction assaulted the military security soldier, resulting in a fierce altercation between the two parties.

The source further stated that the conflict was brought to an end by the intervention of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Crops (IRGC) and the National Defense Forces of the government forces. Additionally, the two members who were responsible for starting the fight were apprehended by the authorities for further investigation.

The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.

Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

How Iran establishes influence in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] As soon as Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
entered the eastern region of Syria in 2017 under the pretense of backing the Syrian government in the fight against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), it started to attract Arab tribes in Deir ez-Zor and use several other methods to infiltrate the region.

Iran used the importance of the tribal lineage in this community as a start to infiltrate, such as the Hashemite tribes that have a historical connection to the Ahl al-Bayt, or the descendants of Prophet Muhammad, such as the al-Baggara, Mashahda, and al-Marasima tribes and all of them backed Iranian-affiliated militias.

North Press, through a network of field and military sources in areas held by Iranian-backed militias, obtained information about certain figures and over 10 tribal military militias formed by Iran.

TRIBAL MILITIAS
Baqir Brigade, backed by Iran, is led by Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir and his children, who formed the Tribe Lions militia, with the majority of its bully boyz coming from al-Baggara. The most prominent leaders are Abdullah Younes al-Sattam, Khalaf Younes al-Sattam, Fawaz al-Rashid, and Nasser Awad al-Sadoun, aka Abu Sayaf.

According to sources, these military leaders are from the al-Baggara tribe and are close to Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir.

The majority of the bully boyz in the Baqir Brigade are from the al-Shuwait tribe and are numbered between 1,500-2,000 krazed killers. This militia is not known for participating in battles even though its presence is confirmed in the towns of Sabikhan and al-Boleel, according to sources. The sources suggested that their work is limited to protecting headquarters and smuggling across the Euphrates River.

Iran also formed Haras al-Qura (village guards) militia in the town of al-Boleel and Sabikhan in the east of the city of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates River. They are directly under the command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and are led by Iranian krazed killers, but the local leaders are unknown.

The Liwa Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas is deployed in the city of al-Mayadin and surrounding areas, led by Adnan al-Soud, aka Abu al-Abbas. The militia has about 4,000 Syrian krazed killers, mostly from local tribes.

The al-Sayida Zaynab militia, led by Mo’ayed al-Duwayhi, is deployed in the city of al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor. The militia consists of bully boyz from multiple nationalities, in addition to about 1,000 local bully boyz from the tribes of al-Qalyin (Al-Rahabi) and al-Busaraya.

The al-Sheikh forces militia in al-Mayadin, led by Akram al-Sheikh, are numbered about 200 krazed killers, a mixture of members from the tribes of al-Jihesh and al-Qalyin (Al-Rahabi).

The Base 47 militia affiliated with IRGC is deployed in Abu Kamal and its countryside, led by Abu Issa al-Mashhadani and Youssef al-Hamdan from the town al-Sukariya. They are numbered about 1,000 krazed killers.

The Liwa Hashemiyoun militia are under the command of the Base 47 militia, and follow orders of Abu Issa al-Mashhadani and are led by Haj Ragheb al-Mashhadani.

The Liwa al-Hussein militia is deployed in the town of al-Ayyash, east of Deir ez-Zor, and is led by Fayez al-Jad’an. All the militia’s bully boyz are from the tribe of al-Uqaydat.

The Usoud al-Uqaydat (al-Uqaydat Lions) militia is led by Muhammad al-Shuwaiti and consists of about 300 krazed killers. The headquarters of the militia is located on al-Arba’in street in the city of al-Mayadin. There are other headquarters in the southern desert of al-Mayadin. Most of its bully boyz are from the tribe of al-Shuwait.

The Liwa al-Muntaser militia was recently formed in the city of Abu Kamal, backed by the so-called Farhan al-Marsoumi, who is closely linked to the IRGC. This militia’s mission is to accompany smuggling trucks. There are 300 bully boyz in the militia, mostly from the tribes of al-Marasima, al-Bobadran, and Mashahda.

The Iyal al-Shaib militia is present in the towns of al-Suwayeiya and al-Heri, east of Deir ez-Zor, and is affiliated with the IRGC. The krazed killers’ number and leader is unknown, but they are mostly from the tribe of al-Uqaydat backed by Sheikh of al-Hassoun tribe, Ayman Daham al-Dandel.

INFLUENTIAL FIGURES
Iran first began attracting tribes and forming tribal armed militias through the houses of Al al-Reja and Yassin al-Ma’youf in the town of Hatlah, northeast of Deir ez-Zor. According to sources, the two houses receive support from Iran.

Iran attracted several businessmen in Deir ez-Zor, and several figures made a fortune as a result of working in smuggling of architecture and drugs.

Local sources said that Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir, Sheikh of the al-Baggara tribe who formed the Baqir Brigade in cooperation with members of his tribe present in areas under Iran’s control, is one of the influential figures in the regions.

The sources added that Farhan al-Marsoumi and his brothers Khallouf, Youssef, and Hassan, who contributed to the purchase of real estate in the areas of Abu Kamal and its countryside, as well as in the countryside of Damascus, were also well-known influential figures among Iranian militias.

They mentioned other figures such as Mehanna al-Fayad, sheikh of the Busaraya tribe, Ahmad al-Shammari, sheikh of the al-Boleel tribe, Ala al-Labad, sheikh of al-Busaba tribe, and Ayman Reja al-Dandal, sheikh of al-Hassoun tribe.
