Kentucky police officer shot with rifle while in vehicle, flown to hospital: report
[Fox News]A Kentucky police officer was shot Monday and the gunman was being sought.

The Kentucky State Police said an Olive Hill police officer was shot while sitting in a vehicle, The Daily Independent reported.

The unidentified officer was shot by a high-powered rifle through a passenger window.

He was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in an unknown condition. A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents in the area. Fox News Digital has reached out to the state police.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has responded to the scene of the shooting. The agency said there was no description of the suspect.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear asked residents across the state to pray for the injured officer.

"We are here for this family and entire law enforcement community during this difficult time," he tweeted.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief June 13, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • CONCERN OVER UN FINDINGS THAT AL QAEDA IS SERVING AMONG THE TALIBAN ADMINISTRATION – Despite continued denials on the part of the Taliban, the group continues to maintain close ties to Al Qaeda members and a recent report from a research team at the United Nations has discovered several members of the terrorist group that are serving in senior positions within the Taliban. The Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team conducted a thorough review of Taliban appointments since coming to power and found that at least four were recognized to have affiliations with both groups. Of the four, 2 were serving as District Governors, 1 was the Deputy Minister of the Interior, and 1 was a senior leader in the Ministry of Defense. The research team concluded that Al Qaeda enjoys protection from the Taliban regime and discovered instances where Al Qaeda members were receiving ‘pensions’ and travel documents. For its part, the Taliban has not convinced many (if any) that it is taking the fight against terrorism seriously. While they have battled ISIS-K somewhat effectively, most observers see this as an effort to ‘reduce the competition’ rather than reducing the threat of terrorism in the region or internationally. The many other terrorist organizations known to be operating within the borders of the country seemingly do so with the full knowledge of the Taliban.

  • AUTHORITIES IN FRANCE IDENTIFY AFGHAN WHO ACCOSTED FORMER PAKISTAN ARMY GENERAL IN PARIS – The French Gendarmerie says it has discovered the identity of the Afghan man who recorded video of a heated exchange he had with General Javed Bajwa and his wife earlier this month. The Embassy of Pakistan lodged a protest with French authorities over the incident. While the French authorities did not release the man’s last name, he has been identified as Shahid and is said to have come from Nangarhar Province. He has applied for asylum in France. French law allows for penalties for those who interfere with tourism. It is not clear if any charges have been filed against this man.

  • DURAND LINE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT IN PLANNING STAGES – Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, addressed the issue of resettling the refugees from Waziristan who have settled along the Durand Line and who have been making Pakistan nervous for years over potential ties to militancy and attacks that have been carried out in Pakistan. According to Mujahid, the refugees will be sent to Provinces in the North, South, and Central parts of Afghanistan. He said that those who have caused concern to Afghanistan’s neighbor will be easier to monitor and ‘control’ after they are moved. The refugees appear to view the plan with suspicion and many are frightened over being uprooted and sent to areas with different ethnic demographics. There is still not a fixed date for when the displacements will start but sources in the Ministry of Defense say that plans are being drawn up to reinforce Taliban units in the areas under question prior to any evictions. We assess that violence is likely once the plan is implemented.

  • NEW 10 AND 20 AFS NOTES BEING PLACED INTO CIRCULATION – Banks have reportedly begun issuing the new 10 and 20 afs notes across Afghanistan yesterday. However, the process will take some time to get the new notes to more isolated areas. The Central Bank has said that Afghans can freely turn in worn notes for no fees at its branch locations.

  • HEALTH SYSTEM UNDER EXTREME DURESS IN AFGHANISTAN – Afghanistan’s medical system has been particularly hard hit by the rise of the Taliban. Many health practitioners fled the country and those that stayed found themselves under scrutiny by the Taliban with some being forced to quit their jobs. Women doctors, nurses, and staff have faced significant barriers to continue working in their chosen fields and the economic situation has meant shortages of medications, materials, and technical upkeep of sophisticated machinery. Several Provincial health treatment facilities have long signaled that they do not have the means to treat people and complain about inconsistent supplies of medications. Further exacerbating the situation, the Ministry of Public Health has failed to schedule the required Medical Expert Examination tests to certify new Doctors for well over a year now. Some say the exam is being reviewed by ‘religious scholars’ so that it meets the Taliban’s rather narrow view of Sharia compliance. Regardless of the reason, the delay will have an adverse impact on Afghan citizens seeking medical care.

NEXT 24 HOURS
  • PAKISTAN ORDERS EVACUATIONS ALONG PORTIONS OF ITS COAST AS BIPARJOY REACHES COAST – Approximately 9,000 families have been moved from their homes along the coast as the winds from the Cyclone began lashing the coastline. More evacuations are expected to continue throughout the day but emergency managers have warned that people in the path of the storm should try to move themselves as services are stretched thin. The storm is expected to reach maximum intensity on Thursday.

  • DANGEROUS WEATHER ALSO FORECASTED FOR EASTERN AND CENTRAL PORTION OF AFGHANISTAN – More rain is expected to soak the North and Central Eastern Provinces today. In a few areas, the rain is expected to be heavy and flooding is expected. Lightning also poses a risk and travel is strongly discouraged due to the risk of flooding.

18 civilians killed in ongoing clashes in Sudan
by Emad Almarshahi
[HodhodYemenNews] At least 18 civilians were killed on Monday in violent clashes taking place in different parts of Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces after the end of the one-day truce.

This comes amid the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country.

A media source reported that violent explosions were heard and columns of smoke rose east and central Omdurman, while a warplane continued to fly over the skies of Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri, since the early morning hours.

Columns of smoke rose densely for the fifth day in a row around major fuel depots south of Khartoum, against the background of fierce battles between the army and the support forces around the Yarmouk Defense Industries Factory.

Military sources announced that the army was able to reach the Halfaya Bridge linking Khartoum North and Omdurman and station itself at its entrance.

Deadly attack by militia group claims over 45 lives in eastern Congo's Ituri province
See also here.
[FoxNews] More than 45 people have been killed and a dozen wounded by a militia group in eastern Congo's Ituri province, said the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Congo on Monday.

The attack, which occurred Sunday evening into Monday morning, is believed to have been perpetrated by the CODECO militia group, which massacred vulnerable displaced people at the Lala displacement site in Djugu territory, said the U.N.

Fighting between CODECO, a loose association of various ethnic Lendu militia groups, and Zaire, a mainly ethnic Hema self-defense group, has been ongoing since 2017 but has worsened recently. Dozens of civilians have been killed by CODECO this year.

In December, the United Nations said the insurgent group was expanding its areas of control, attacking civilians and Congo’s military, and taxing communities in the areas that it holds.

The killings come amid surging violence across eastern Congo, where conflict has been simmering for decades. More than 120 armed groups are fighting in the region, most for land and control of mines with valuable minerals, while some groups are trying to protect their communities.

The bloody attack occurred on Sunday night, according to local sources who said the people killed were at an internally displaced people’s camp.

Richard Dheda Kondo, the chief of the Bahema Badjere village in Djugu, told local media on Monday that the attack on Sunday night targeted the same people forced to flee their homes over similar attacks.

Son of anti-drugs unit officer murdered in Aden
by Emad Almarshahi

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] Aden police has revealed on Monday new details on the murder of the son of a director of the anti-drug unit in Aden.

According to media sources, quoting security sources, the son of Muharram al-Darmali was detained at the al-Arish police station pending a drug trafficking case, noting that al-Darmali’s son, who is also an officer in the anti-drug unit, was killed inside the department and then dumped his body on the city’s coast.

Media sources had earlier reported that the body of al-Daramli’s son was found on the coast of the province with signs of torture on his body.

The sources suggested that the liquidation of al-Darmali was carried out by senior leaders in the Southern Transitional Council (STC), following a drug struggle.

It is noteworthy that Al-Daramli was dismissed from the command of the anti-drugs unit two days before the killing of his son, being replaced by another official from the Security Belt force affiliated with STC.

Turkey says two soldiers killed in Kurdistan Region, blames PKK
[Rudaw] Two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed in the Kurdistan Region on Sunday, the Ottoman Turkish defense ministry announced, blaming the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), days after a man allegedly affiliated with the party was fatally shot in Sulaimani.

The Ottoman Turkish defense said that two infantry sergeants were killed in the "Claw-Lock operations area" in the Kurdistan Region, as a result of the earth-shattering kaboom of a handmade bomb. The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
blamed the PKK for the attack. The group has not made any comment regarding the incident.

The Claw-Lock operation was a cross-border military operation of Ottoman Turkish armed forces in 2019, to eradicate PKK on the borders between Turkey and Kurdistan Region, in Duhok's Metina, Zap, Avashin, and Basyan areas.

Several hours later, Turkey said it killed seven members of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria. Ankara views the YPG as the Syrian offshoot of the PKK. The attack was not reported by the YPG.

The operations come two days after a member of the Mesopotamian Workers’ Association, which is allegedly affiliated with PKK, was killed in Sulaimani. Firat News Agency (ANF), which is a media outlet linked to PKK pointed fingers at the Ottoman Turkish state and the Kurdistan Region’s ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
(KDP) of being behind the killing. Despite having strong ties to Turkey, the KDP has constantly denied such accusations.

PKK rarely comments on the number of strikes and casualties announced by the Ottoman Turkish defense ministry.

One terrorist killed, two injured in North Waziristan shootout
[GEO.TV] One terrorist was killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire that took place between security forces and the miscreants in the general area of Spinwam,
...a charming name for a nasty little jihadi spot...
North Wazoo District, the public relations arm of the military said in a statement.

As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), one terrorist was killed and two others sustained injuries after the troops engaged with them at their location. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from them.

"The killed terrorist remained actively involved in terr activities against the security forces as well as the killing of innocent citizens," the ISPR added. It further said that residents of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area.

The engagement with the turbans came a day after armed forces bumped off three turbans while four others were maimed in a gunbattle in the general Miranshah
... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas...
area in North Waziristan district, the ISPR had said.

The military's media wing had said that the soldiers fought gallantly but three of them were martyred in the intense exchange of fire that took place on the night between June 9 and 10.

"Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and resultantly three turbans were sent to hell, while four turbans were maimed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists," a statement released by the ISPR read.

The martyred soldiers were identified as Subedar Asghar Ali, 40, Sepoy Naseem Khan, 26, and Sepoy Muhammad Zaman, 22.

The ISPR further stated that a sanitisation operation was being carried out to eliminate any other turbans found in the area.

"Armed forces of Pakistain are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve," it reiterated.

Palestinian arrested trying to infiltrate from Gaza
[IsraelTimes] An unarmed Paleostinian has been arrested by Israeli troops as he attempted to infiltrate into Israel from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip early this morning, the military says.

The Israel Defense Forces says soldiers monitoring surveillance cameras identified the suspect attempting to cross the security barrier in the central part of Gaza.

Troops dispatched to the scene arrest the suspect and take him to the Shin Bet security agency for further questioning.

Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip frequently attempt to illegally enter Israeli territory, often with hopes of fleeing the beleaguered enclave.

Israeli forces arrest senior Hamas leader in occupied West Bank
[EN.ALGHADEERTV.IQ] Israeli military forces have arrested a high-ranking leader of the Paleostinian Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, resistance movement during a raid in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, in the latest upsurge of violence in the region.

Local sources said large numbers of Israeli forces conducted a raid early on Monday on the city of Dura, located eleven kilometers (6.8 miles) southwest of al-Khalil, and broke into a house to apprehend Sheikh Rizq Rajoub.

Rajoub’s arrest came eight months after his last release from Israeli prisons, where he spent 19 months in administrative detention.

In total, Rajoub has spent more than 28 years in Israeli custody.

In 2018, he refused to be deported to Sudan after being given two options, either to be deported outside Paleostine or to serve an administrative detention sentence.

Rajoub reportedly suffers from different health problems, including vitiligo, and underwent several medical surgeries after spending long years behind Israeli bars.

HAMAS OFFICIAL DETENTION RENEWED
Also on Monday, an Israeli court extended the administrative detention of senior Hamas official Abdul-Jabbar Jarrar for an additional four months.

This was the fifth time that Israeli officials have renewed the administrative detention of Jarrar, a resident of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, according to his wife.

Iranian cop killed by relative of slain protester — reports
[IsraelTimes] Local media says car-ramming attack occurred during memorial for Kian Pirfalak, who was killed in shooting during demonstrations last year

An Iranian policeman was killed Sunday in a car-ramming attack by a relative of a boy whose family says he was killed by security forces during nationwide protests last year, local media reported.

A police official said the attacker was rubbed out after the killing, which occurred during a commemoration for the boy Kian Pirfalak in Izeh, a city in southwestern Khuzestan province.

Pirfalak was one of seven killed in a shooting in November during demonstrations following the September 16 death in jug of Kurdish-Iranian Mahsa Amini, 22, after her arrest for allegedly flouting Iran’s strict dress code for women.

"A policeman was killed following an appeal by the opposition to stir up insecurity on Kian Pirfalak’s birthday," Khuzestan deputy police chief Colonel Hojjat Sefidpoust said, cited by Tasnim news agency.

The report said the attacker, who rammed his car into police, was a cousin of Pirfalak’s mother.

Sefidpoust said the assailant had died of his wounds after being shot "thanks to the intervention of personnel" in the area.

In November, state media attributed the shooting which killed the boy to "terrorists" but his mother blamed security forces.

The judiciary announced on April 7 that a man accused of killing Pirfalak and the six others had been sentenced to death.

Hundreds of people were killed, including dozens of security personnel, and thousands were arrested in connection with what officials labeled "riots" after Amini’s death.
