Turkey detains 34 people suspected of ties to Israel's Mossad: senior official
2024-01-03
[GEO.TV] Ottoman Turkish authorities have detained 34 people suspected of being linked to Israel's Mossad intelligence service and of targeting Paleostinians living in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, a senior Ottoman Turkish official said on Tuesday, adding Mossad also recruited members in the country.

Last month, Ottoman Turkish officials warned Israel of "serious consequences" if it tried to hunt down members of the group Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
living outside Paleostinian territories, including in Turkey. President Tayyip Erdogan warned that would be a mistake.

The official said police raided locations in eight provinces as part of an investigation carried out by the MIT intelligence agency and the Istanbul prosecutor's counter-terrorism bureau.

"The Israeli Intelligence Service is recruiting personnel to be used in acts against Paleostinians residing in our country and their families," the official said, adding it used job postings on social media to establish contact and later used encrypted messaging platforms to maintain communications with contacts.

"It uses intermediaries/live couriers for payments to be made to its contacts. It tries to lose trace of the money by using cryptocurrency and a (money) transfer system," the person said, adding Turkey's operations against people linked to Mossad would continue.
The Times of Israel adds:
The suspects were arrested in eight provinces across the country in what Ankara is calling Operation Mole.

Another 13 suspects remain at large, according to Turkish media reports.

According to Yerlikaya, the Mossad intelligence service planned to surveil and “kidnap” foreigners on Turkish soil.

Authorities also found 143,830 euros, $23,680, an unlicensed gun, and digital files.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the reported arrests.

Since December 2022, the MIT and Istanbul police have announced three operations uncovering Mossad cells in the country. The most recent was in July of last year, when Turkey announced it had arrested seven Arabs working for the Mossad intelligence on targets in Lebanon and Syria.
