[NPASyria] Unidentified assailants, believed to be Islamic State (ISIS) militants, killed a member of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) on Monday in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Bassam al-Saleh, a resident from the town of al-Sabha, east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle attacked Jassem al-Saleh, 31, a member of the Asayish in front of his house while he was off-duty.
The attack resulted in the immediate killing of al-Saleh. The attackers fled the town while chanting pro-ISIS slogans, he added.
Two days earlier, a patrol of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was attacked with machine guns in the town of Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor without reporting casualties.
Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor frequently witnesses an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

The SDF Media Center reported that the SDF Special Unites targeted an ISIS terrorist cell in the town of al-Izba in northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The operation was supported by air surveillance and ground support by the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
The operation resulted in the arrest of an ISIS leader "who was involved in transporting kabooms, weapons and ammunitions to ISIS cells" in Hawl camp in Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria, and providing ISIS families with forged IDs.
He was also linked to other Lions of Islam "Emirs" in the
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, houses 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
Asayish arrest drug traders in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Tuesday that their forces have arrested two individuals involved in drug trafficking in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
The Asayish said, in a statement, “As part of the pursuit of drug traders and traffickers, and after surveillance and monitoring operations, our forces have apprehended two individuals in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor who were involved in drug trafficking.”
The Asayish said that the individuals were apprehended with “290 grams of hashish paste, a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, 3 Tramadol ampoules, and 100 narcotic pills” in their possession.
