Sturgis attendees shun Budweiser booth
2023-08-11
[Breitbart] The Anheuser-Busch brand suffered another blow this week when it appeared that few (if any) people visited the Budweiser tent at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

Video of the empty Budweiser tent quickly began circulating on social media Thursday, showing what appeared to be a vacant lot of branded booths.
Video at the link shows the booth was staffed. I'm sure "fact checkers" will report the video was shot while the booth was not operating.
Budweiser declared itself the official sponsor of this year’s motorcycle event. Per the website:

Budweiser and its local distributor, Quality Brands of the Black Hills, are proud to be the Official Malt Beverage Sponsor of the 83rd Annual — City of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Through their combined efforts you will see:

  • Custom Sturgis / Budweiser signage and;

  • Our mutual donations to local charities that raise money for the Black Hills area.

The local Budweiser distributor, Quality Brands of the Black Hills, has been associated with The Rally for more than 50 years. Budweiser and its distributor partners are long-time supporters of motorcycle events nationwide.

#13  Hapless local SoCal K&B just chopped its unpriced monolith next to the cattle chute down to a high- priced half-a-lith. Overnight. Same store hasn't restocked sucralose in several weeks. Folks going back to sugar?

#12  Borosilicate....I love it, J.B., I love it!

#11  Re #3, beware the 'pyrex' label on a glass cooking utensil. Pyrexâ„¢ is borosilicate glass and (*spit*) 'pyrex' is a trademark for marketing soda glass.

#10  Went to a favorite pub yesterday. The wife pointed out they still have Bud Lite etched on some glasses.

We'll see how long they last.

#9  ^ That would not be buying the brand. I stand corrected.

#8  ^6. In this case it would be buying the production facilities and/or distribution network. Eventually, they will lay off enough folks such that the overhead of the facilities will drive the sell off. It will be similar to what you have seen by GM over the last forty years. One GM plant makes a lot of Teslas currently. If Swabb gets his dream, the plants could be used to make our porridge.

#6  Re #3, when buying a brand, it's market share and goodwill you are buying. Think Diehard or Craftsman. I don't see anything like that here.

#3  Somebody will buy Budweiser eventually as a distressed asset. I’m not sure that the brand can be fixed.
