Disturbing video shows Colorado cop PUNCH handcuffed woman in the face after she spat on him
2023-06-10
[DM] Seems a very reasoned response.
  • Russell Maranto, 28, a Loveland, Colorado police officer has been fired after being captured on bodycam punching a handcuffed woman directly in the face

  • Maranto punched Angelia Hall, 59, after she spat at him while she was being held in a hospital ER while sitting in an examination room emergency room

  • Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran said he was committed to transparency and holding both his team and citizens accountable for their actions

In the footage, Hall can be heard becoming increasingly frustrated and angry as she sits in an examination chair while cursing and yelling at the officers and nurses who were present.

But it was when she spat at Maranto that he immediately reacted by punching her.

Another officer in the room intervened and pulled Maranto away from Hall.

Officers had initially responded to reports of Hall wandering in and out of traffic, displaying confused and incoherent behavior. Officers had placed her under protective custody and taken her to a local hospital to be evaluated.
So drunk, drugs, mentally ill, or seriously exhausted. The question becomes: when and why did they cuff her, and what had they already tried to get her to calm down?
Hall has been charged with third-degree assault for her actions towards the fired officer.

#22  Claimed Asian descent at some point, which rang true at the time, I thought, FWIW.

A Mexican man (as in "Chino")
Or some form of morphodite (xeno?)
Expressed ideation
Befitting his nation...

Dunno... stuck, I am. Something about a blood frappucino with Beano?

#21  My understanding is in the reverse, Frank G: a Mexican who made his money on a Mexican clothing brand expanded into American malls, then retired to the good life in a condo in California... but has recently moved back home for some reason. But whether he is bipolar, schizophrenic, or a group identity, I couldn’t say — and regardless, he completely misunderstands both the American character and the country’s history.

#20  "Joe" pretended to be an "American" from SoCal, living in Acapulco.

He's none of the above, and possibly not even male from "his" language

#19  Seems Joe just made it pretty clear to me he's not from around here, and given that level of over-reaction, might hail from someplace hot and sandy?

In my brief career in law enforcement in DC in the late 60's, spitting on an officer got you some hickory mouthwash.

#17  I am still wondering if Joe's asshole gets jealous of the shit that comes out of his mouth.

#16  /\ Troll recruitment is difficult these days DooDahMan. The available crop, unlike in years past, simply isn't up to scratch.

#15  The only thing disturbing was that substance-influenced foul mouth from that termagant.

#14  ^ You say that like it's a bad thing, B.

#13  /\ Please Joe, calm down. You're going to spin yourself into a cerebral hemorrhage.

#12  I think Joe must be from Bulgaria.

#9  I would have plugged her nose and poured a Moxie cola down her throat. The aftertaste is like carbonated prune juice.

#8  Drugs which come in foil tend to do that.

Probably tuned up to 11, and is equal parts 'damn I'm screwed' and 'He better not spill any and give it back', like when Hunter thought he spilled some of his and smoked whatever he found in the carpet.

#7  It doesn’t appear to me that he punched her very hard, though I have no experience in punching or being punched...

Why was she so fixated on whatever he took out of her hand?

#6  She played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.

#5  Loveland, used to be a nice place.

Wasn't long ago spitting like that would have killed thousands, according to Daily Mail.

Spitting is assault, and it does carry a biological risk. The response was not a punch but a knock it off.

#4  Seems to me to be a measured response.

#3  Spitting isn’t what it used to be.

#2  punching a handcuffed person is cruel-and-unusual. perhaps pissing on them would be more appropriate.

#1  Spitting is considered battery in many jurisdictions.
