| Semalka crossing with KRI opened after 26 days of closure |

| [NPASyria] Semalka-Faysh Khabour border crossing, between northeastern Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), announced on Monday on its official account on Facebook opening the crossing. Ahmad Baz, official in the administration of the crossing, told North Press in a phone call that the crossing was opened. On May 11, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) closed the crossing, prohibiting commercial traffic, without providing detailed explanation for the closure or setting a date for its reopening. The closure of the Semalka crossing has caused a shortage of infant formula and other basic materials, causing an increase in their prices. Work will be resumed on three days of each week, which are Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. Humanitarian cases also will be allowed to pass the crossing, according to the source.
