[KavkazUzel] A court in Rostov-on-Don convicted Usman Umarov, a native of the Stavropol Territory, on charges of participating in the Islamic State.
Umarov was sentenced by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.
According to the court, Umarov voluntarily joined the Islamic State in July 2022 and was going to commit crimes on his behalf. Umarov's actions were stopped by employees of the regional department of the FSB for the Stavropol Territory, Vesti Stavropol informs on April 7.
The court sentenced Umarov to 10 years and eight months in prison. He will spend three years in prison, the rest of the term in a strict regime colony.
The card on the court's website states that Umarov's case under article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was submitted to the court in early February. Several times its consideration was postponed until it was considered on 7 April.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote that a native of Stavropol, Zamir Muradov, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at the end of March for participating in the "Islamic State."
