| #4 Russia has a demographics crisis and Putin knows it, yet he threw a generation of young men into the meat grinder in Ukraine. What he should have done is encouraged emigration from Europe and India and South America (anyone without a border and claim) with the offer of cheap/free land. |

| #3 Gorbachev caught an unfixable situation and failed accordingly. I disliked his ongoing "Knowing Elder Statesmanâ„¢" lectures after the USSR fell. Putin precipitated a situation that could have been avoided. That's even more dislikable. |
