Biden announces $2.9 billion to fight global food insecurity
2022-09-25
[An Nahar] U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. S I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
announced Wednesday another $2.9 billion for a fund aimed at helping to resolve global food insecurity caused in part by Russia's invasion of grain-producing Ukraine.

Biden will make the announcement in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly, the White House said. The money "builds on the $6.9 billion in U.S. government assistance to support global food security already committed this year," a statement said.

The White House said food supplies are being dangerously disrupted by "the compounding impacts of the pandemic, the deepening climate crisis, rising energy and fertilizer costs, and protracted conflicts -- including Russia's invasion of Ukraine."

The turmoil has "disrupted global supply chains and dramatically increased global food prices."

In particular, long-term drought has left parts of Somalia at risk of famine, the White House said.

"This new announcement of $2.9 billion will save lives through emergency interventions and invest in medium to long term food security assistance in order to protect the world's most vulnerable populations from the escalating global food security crisis."

#9  It's all about the graft.
Virtually none of this will go for food, but a lot of people will get nice vacation homes out of it.

NOTE TO THE DC LSD's actually running the WH.
We have US Citizens that are legitimately homeless and living hand to mouth.

How about looking after our own 1st?

Or is this a way to pass $$$$$$ around and get it into the right Left Hands.

#6  Yes, the Pauline Kael thing in reverse. Nobody there likes him but if he runs in 2024 he will carry the state by a larger margin than last time.

#1  How about spending some of that money on improving Americans lives instead? Let the rest of the world solve their problems themselves, they have the brains to do so, they just need the will to force them to do something about it instead of depending on Americans money to solve their 'problems' for them.
