#8 It's more serious than that. It's been reported that the Turks have transported over 17,000 Syrian jihadis to Libya along with several hundred Turkish troops and a LOT of gear. That probably more than doubles GNA fighting strength and allows them to go the offensive. Like any rented item, the Turks/GNA are going to drive the Syrians like, well, rented mules. In addition, Turkish UAVs are tearing up LNA and Russian equipment. They don't seems to have a counter for it, which is surprising given the vaunted Russian electronic warfare reputation. |

#7 Thks, b. It felt...incomplete as reported. Perhaps the LNA could get S-400's? |

#6 In the past week the LNA attempt to take Tripoli has stalled. The LNA has retreated from some forward positions. This all occrred when planes provided by Turkey started to show up in Libya. Now Russia is reported to have provided the LNA with planes of superior capacity. There is back and forth, but one thing is for sure, neither Egypt for Saudi Arabia wants the GNA to emerge the victor. |

#5 #US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pressed #Libya’s Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) for a ceasefire and criticized the flow of weapons as Tripoli pushes back against a year-old offensive. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I don't recall Pompeo asking for a ceasefire when the LNA was advancing. It's possible that Uncle Sam is rooting for the LNA. After all, Haftar was a 20-year US resident. |

#4 LNA loses 1 battle and ppl start talking about near defeat. From the articles I see on Rantburg, it seems the GNa are the ones on their heels. |

#3 I expect the US is the '3rd party channeling' cutout for Israeli interests to keep the Arab world in conflict, with each other. |

#2 It is hard to figure the US role in all this. It seems to be supporting the GNA which has provided a home for Islamists of many Muslim organizations. It accepts the support of Erdogan, a man who all concede is determined to revive the Caliphate. It seemingly backs the An Nahda in Tunisia, a Muslim Brotherhood operation. It does not appear to support a putative Egyptian ally what supports the LNA and will probably invade Libya if Haftar's forces are nearing defeat. It is a complex situation and one wonders who is advising Pompeo? |

#1 Sell them to the Egyptians first to launder them. |
