3 dead, 55 wounded in attacks across southern Thailand |

At least three people were killed and 55 wounded in a series of bombing attacks yesterday in southern Thailand. Attacks were reported in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. Reports said that gunfire was heard in at least one area. Southern region military spokesman Colonel Piamote Prom-In said the attacks broke out in several places yesterday evening. He said, "The explosions occurred in busy areas as people were shopping ahead of curfew. Explosions killed three and injured 55 people. Of those, five people were seriously injured." At least 13 attacks broke out in Pattani provice at about the same time at three convenience stores, the office of the Provincial Electricity Authority, an electricity facility and a gas station. Muang district was left without electricity after the attacks. |
